Hi!
I am using my transformer in my car and I set the display to always on and automatically brightness. this works good except that after a few seconds the brightness lowers if I dont press any button. This happens also if I set the maximum brightness. After a few seconds the brightness lowers even if I set a fix brightness level and the screen to be always on. Can this power saving feature be disabled?

no... this timeout defines when to switch off the screen. thats not the problem. i want to prevent the tablet to reduce the brightness when no buttons are pressed.
You say you have the timeout always set to on anyway.
On my android phone the screen dims same as the tablet a bit before timeout turns the screen off. The only time it stays on is when I have the battery set to keep screen on while charging under development ...because I usually have my phone in my car dock using a speedometer program that has setting to keep it on... besides those two settings I don't see any other controls for it.
I actually changed the application on my phone I use when driving because one would let the screen dim and the one I use now (dashboard) has a setting to keep it on without changing settings elsewhere.

Hello all,
First of all, apologies if this is in the wrong forum.
I have an HTC EVO 4G on Sprint. I am looking for an app that will manage the backlight in a way more like Windows Mobile's own built-in management. Here's what I am looking for more specifically. When charging or plugged in, the backlight should be full brightness and the screen should never dim or turn off. When on battery, the backlight could be set to dim after xx minutes, or not dim. The device should then shut the screen off after xx minutes.
With Android's built-in settings, all I can come up with is the setting for the screen to never sleep when charging, which is oddly placed under Applications -> Development. The screen timeout setting applies to both battery and charging statuses.
Why? When the phone is plugged in, I like to be able to quickly glance at it for time or notifications. I don't like having to hit the power button to check these. When on battery, the phone is usually in my pocket so taking it out and pressing the power button are almost one motion. It saves battery as well.
Also, in the car, I always have the phone charging. I've noticed that some GPS and other programs will keep the backlight on, but others will not. I've seen some applications just allow the backlight to dim, so I have to keep touching the display to wake it up.
Does such an application exist? If not, doesn't anyone else want to see such an application made?
This is one of the little things that I miss about Windows Mobile 6.5.
Maybe its normal but I have smart stay on so if i am looking at the screen it dims but doesn't turn off. This happens even with auto brightness, power saving and auto adjust screen tone turned off. the browser also has auto brightness turned off. the only thing i can think is maybe there is a conflict with quick settings which also has auto brightness turned off. if i am not looking nat eh screen it dims and in a few seconds shuts off.
what mine does...
Same here. I even start blinking and moving my eyes to see if it will stay on. I know I've got to look like an idiot.
Currently not being productive on my S3.
I have been playing with smart stay as well, but I haven't seen that it keeps the screen on any longer ... maybe I just haven't had enough patience.
smart stay does keep my screen on but it does not prevent the screen from dimming. I think the phone automatically dims right before its about to shut off even if i have all dimming settings turned off. right before it shuts off smart stay keeps it on but only after the screen dims thus i am stuck with a dim screen.
Noticed 2x today I walked away for an hour and came back to a bright screen. Both times I had just plugged it in and left it on the desk. I turned the sleep timer down to 15s and experimented a bit but couldn't replicate it...
I also noticed when it auto sleeps, there is no screen lock sound. Though I do hear it when I click the power button. The option is turned on in settings, and I remember my 300's all made the lock sound 5 seconds after the screen turned off. Maybe the 700s don't do it? Or maybe there's a problem with the hardware or not really sleeping?
Does yours make the lock sound when it locks after an automatic sleep?
Please can someone just turn up their volume and let their tf700 stock ROM go to sleep with the lock sound enabled? Tell me if you hear the lock sound when it AUTOMATICALLY goes to sleep? (Without clicking the power button)
I only have a couple days to exchange and need to know if this is normal for the 700
Again, the lock sound only plays when I click the power button, Not when it auto sleeps and locks. The tf300 always played the audio.
I don't know what it is but my Z3 is getting dimmed a little bit after I swipe to unlock. When I press the power button, the screen turns on with a bright wallpaper, after I swipe to unlock, the screen dims like 5% brightness immediately, but in some cases several seconds later. Because the lock screen is the same as my wallpaper, this issue is very obvious. I have turned off auto brightness.
This is not so bothersome to me but it's strange? Any ideas?

Doesn't do that on mine. Do you have any power saving features on ?
Aside from auto brightness I can't guess what would do this.
