Any google voice app (voice+msg) in Android - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hi, I am new to Android. I used iPhone before, and pretty much like the Talkatone app on iOS, as I can make/receive free calls, send/receive free msgs in a single app using my google voice account. Is there an equivalent in Android? I know GrooveIP, but that only fulfills the free call part. I have to download gv app itself to read/send msgs. That's not so convenient as Talkatone does.
Anyone recommend a true equivalent app as Talkatone?

there 2 apps
viber
tango
both free in market
viber to send/recive free call and messeges to any one have viber on
i phone or android or wm workes great ovér wifi and data plan.

There's an app called, "chikka" where you can send free sms and phone calls to the Philippines. I haven't tried it yet, though, but it's in the market.

Wifi calling

Can anyone make a free wifi calling app or does anyone know how to make free wifi calls Like Line 2 application free for 7 days.
vm670 jerryscript backside iho 12/21/2011
try google voice + sip.
TextPlus can make free calls now
the fritz box fon app
Check if your plan allows wifi calling and you might have a preinstalled app.
I know that with Rogers, my droid came with a wifi calling app. Some plans have it enabled, where as others you have to pay a premium.
Other than that, I also recommend TextPlus.
Skype should work...
Check out GrooveIP in the Market if you haven't already. It makes calls over Google Voice, and works well. It's not free, but it's worth the 5 bucks.
This usually dont work very well
more app at android phones, just search at market.
+1 Google Voice + SIP, and skype is actually a pretty good alternative if you are in a bind.
how.................
Skype works well, calls to numbers are pretty cheap. The only downside with the app is it likes to run in the background and you have to sign out to turn it off.
I need to use it
but my country not have service ^^'
Many people are using Viber or Tango, you might give those apps a try.

Cross Platform Voice Comms

I have a friend on Blackberry, what is the best mobile data based voice comms app that they can use to call me?
I guess Skype is the best know, does Google Talk do voice on Blackberry?
Thanks.
VIBER (best free VoIP calls)
Whatsapp (best and most reliable messenger)
Buddy (for msn chat facebook chat etc, it's a dying trend)
Facebook messenger
Live profile, dying trend but gives the read and delivered status like bbm
Ummm if you search market place for these I'm sure you'll find related apps but these are the most common off the top of my head

When I go to Biker in the Android market, it says its only available for Android and iPhone?

[Q] Voice & Message: Hangout, Skype or Viber?

Hi,
If you are familiar with making voice calls via WiFi, can you please recommend an app to use? I know of Hangout, Skype and Viber but I often use regular phone calld and SMS texting. But recently my buddy had moved to a place where phone reception is very bad. We need to look for an alternative using WiFi. Can you please advise an app to use (even if it's different than the 3 above). The requirements are modest:
1- Light resources
2- Text messaging, Voice call, Video call is welcome but not necessary
3- App should not interfer to propose ads or offers or features unrelated to basic audio and text messaging. For example, Viber stickers is something I deem as useless.
4- App should work in WiFi and Data mode.
5- Both of us use Android. Interoperability with other systems would be welcome but not necessary.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Try groove ip it's a voip client that runs off your google account and works well with Google voice for sms

In the Play Store GrooVe IP Lite Free Calls Text, there is a mention
On May 15, 2014 Google will no longer allow XMPP based calling through Google Voice. Since GrooVe IP uses that interface, this app will stop functioning on May 15, 2014

This doesn't bode well for the longevity of the app. Furthermore, this apps is VoIP based and requires Google Voice account that we don't have.
try 'Line' for talk or text. I've used it successfully to communicate to the other side of the planet. I am not sure about it's use of resources but it seems to work well enough.

Thanks for the info. It looks like HangOut can do the job. Overall it does what we need. One of the nice feature is that we can use a computer to send message to HangOut on a phone. Even better on Linux, we can use Pidgin to send these text msg.
Viber is OK but it's sign up procedure is weird, the device must have a SIM card for Viber to work, even if we only use WiFi.
Skype seems to have inferior voice/audio quality compared to HangOut. Also Skype consumes more resources. Whether it's on the phone or a computer. However, Skype has a big advantage that it has a desktop client on all OS platform. Overall, we found that HangOut fits best our needs. Hope that Google will makes a Desktop version of HangOut on Linux.

[Q] Looking for simple app to trigger Google Voice callback

I am looking for simple app to trigger Google Voice callback, like a Google Voice dialer but NOT integrated into the standard phone dialer. Back in 2010 I had one on my Android phone which would allow me to dial Google Voice calls when I wanted to. I seldom use Google Voice, but when I do I want to be able to initiate a call with an App and not have to go to the Google Voice website. I am fine with Google Voice ringing my mobile phone as I have free incoming minutes. I do NOT want an App that integrates Google Voice with my phone. I very seldom use Google Voice and I don't want an extra step every time I make a phone call.
Does anybody know of such an App? I think the App I am thinking of started with a GV and it is not available on Google Play any longer. I remember the author came out with a paid App which did basically the same thing but the old free App still worked, if you could find it somewhere on the Internet. But it does not have to be that App. Any App where I can initiate Google Voice calls in the App without tying into the Dialer would be fine. But NOT Talkatone because I just want the App to ring back on my mobile phone number.
Does anybody know if older versions of Google Voice had an option to not integrate with the Phone app in Android? If so what version had this feature and where can I find it? Thanks.
I am looking for an alternative to the Guidology Voice Callback Phone Dialer app:

Help will be appreciated.
