[Q] booting problem with ROM [Eagleblood v1.9]? - T-Mobile LG G2x

I'm currently using Eagleblood v1.8 without any problems...but when i installed Eagleblood v1.9 the phone does not start on boot up..after trying to boot it a minimum 5 times, then the phone out of nowhere boots up!
tried wiping data,cache,dalvik cache..
Any solutions to it?

didnt know that ver 1.9 was ready, Installing now will let ypo u know if I get the same problem.

Were you using 1.8 for 2.3.3, or 1.8 for 2.3.5?
Either way, since you said you already wiped your data, you might as well format /system. You'll need to reinstall your apps, but you'll have a clean install.
Wipe cache
Advanced --> Wipe Dalvik
Mounts and Storate --> format /system
Wipe data/factory reset
Flash rom
Flash gapps
Advanced --> fix permissions
Reboot

Same thing happened to me just go back to recovery do a full wype and flash the rom again and your good to go

i did try that...i tried factory resetting via privacy settings and performed wipe, still no use...
i also installed version 1.07 which has morfics kernel..v 1.07 works fine..tried installing 1.9 again...same problem

OK if u downloaded it from the directdownload, don't do that that one was messed up for me too, download the one from multi-upload and see if that works

i found a weirdo solution to it...every time i have to install a fresh copy of morfics kernel to start the phone...
if i reboot...phone doesn't start....for god knows what reason!
it only starts after wiping cache, dalvik n flashing kernel!
Any better solution?

Hey DemonKicks, are you using a REFURBISHED G2X?? Have you done a warranty exchange at ANY TIME on your handset?
I am having problems with EaglesBlood 1.8, 1.9, and a couple other ROMS. I think that my REFURBISHED HANDSET is to blame!!

not a refurbished piece....anyways i cant exchange it.. warranty void

if you downdoaded the one from the direct download that one is messed up, try the one from multiupload

is this anywhere related to chip stability issue??

When in clockwork recovery go to mounts/storage then format/system then reflash Rom..find yourself a kernel while your at it ...try MORFIC's T15 or faux's 0.4.1 if you want to try undervolting..

Switching kernels; do you need to reflash?

Im on cm7 with dragon kernel. If I wanted to flash faux kernel, do I need to reflash cm7? My guess is I would probably would need to reflash the entire ROM over.

No, just wipe cache and dalvik cache in recovery then flash any kernel. And i believe if you want to go back with cm kernel, same wipe then reflash rom..

I+1 for the fix permissions and I ndont see a stock cm kernel so I think he is right if you want stock cm kernel you have to reflash or restore a nandroid backup.
Couldn't you technically go thru advanced restore and just flash the kernel? I've only gone into there once but can't remember the options available. (This would be to restore cm7 kernel only, follow previous instructions for new kernels)

I think advanced would only let you restore system, data, cache, dalvik cache, boot.img, individually

Just checked it and was about to edit my post. You are correct, no kernel option, would be cool if backups created included the currently installed kernel and you could restore thru that too.

[q] g2x roms and kernel problems!!! Please help!!!

I have a problem i am running the rom Bionix 2 - The Legacy Continues - RC1, i like it and everything but when ever i try to flash a kernerl from CM or Trinity my phone either doesent boot at all or if it does the is no haptic feedback, no internet and nothing is working plus the phone is super slow. Ive tried the install a different like CM7 but i get a message that say that installation aborted, Ive also tried Eaglesblood the rom flashes but when i flash the kernel to that rom it still doesent work. Someone please me i wan to overclock my phone. Im on 2.3.3 rooted and i have the newest CWM i think is 5.0.2.0 or something like that the blue one, IDK if that has anything to do with it
You could try a new ROM first then the kernel. When I flash I wipe data, cache, dalvik the format /system then install ROM then fix permissions then restart. When I add the kernel I want I wipe cache and dalvik then flash the kernel then fix permissions and restart. Some of these steps are extra but I have only had 1 problem before and that was because I didn't wipe dalvik before my kernel.
Also, is bionix based off of cm7? Even if it is some kernels might not work, they could have modified it enough that it makes cm7 kernels not work.

I already everything that you explain the only thing that sounds unfamiliar is the "fix permissions" i dont know what that is. I dont know much about the rom here is a link to it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1080045 I tried flashing other rom but it doesent let me it say s instillation aborted when i try CM7 or anything else the only rom that i can install is bionix or eagles blood im new at this. I see kernels that allow you to oc to 1.5 an even some that let you get to 1.56 and i want my phone to be able to run them
Fix permissions is in rom manager (app for the phone) and cwm. Did you flash using nvflash or rom manager?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
I flash everything from CWM because some of these kernels cause my phone to boot loop. I fixed the permissions but still no luck
I flashed with NV Flasher

thanks for the reply.
I did use nvflash. should i wipe data and cache before reinstalling cm7?
thanks
yes, wipe data, cache, dalvic, and do a factory reset (which I think does the first two, but most everything sys to also do a factory reset from CWM)
P.s. Damn, how many other night owls are there on this forum?
thanks guys the phone works now after reinstalling and wiping.
honestly the best rom on the g2x is eaglebloodv2.5 based of cyanogenmod 7.1 with the trinity 15 uc/uv kernal. dont get me wrong i love cm but i can overclock to 1.5 per core with -150mv stable

[Q] Process system is not responding. Would you like to close it?

I got this while replying to a text message...
I've been getting quite alot of these, from even various applications. It's driving me nuts!!!!
Is there any (permanent) solution for this??
ROM: Gummy
Kernel version: 3.1.10_IcyGlitch_V14-BS_I896-I897 [email protected] #1
Baseband version: T959TLJL3
I'd be forever grateful if this problem could be solved... I really love this ROM
First I would reboot to recovery, then wipe cache, in advanced wipe dalvik cache, then fix permissions. If the problem comes back , I would back up your apps, msgs, that you want, then, wipe system, cache, wipe data/factory reset, and reflash. Maybe a newer rom.

This is a bug firmware, also sometimes a problem when using swap. I recommend flash newest ROM, they are much better.

I did the first thing you reommended, it didn't work and to make matters worse, ma phone doesn't pass the boot screen....
I quickly rebooted in recovery and made a nandroid backup - followed your second suggestion but i never made a backup of ma msgs because you didn't say so in the 1st suggestion... i can load new roms but can restore from ma nandroid backup
When you wipe dalvik cache, your phone can and will take several minutes to reboot, because it's rebuilding the dalvik cache. Secondly, wiping dalvik cache and fixing permissions wouldn't cause your phone to not boot. Between my wife's and my phone, I've flashed Roms, updated, experimented, fixed, stuff, etc... hundreds of times, and never has a dalvik cache wipe / fix permissions caused the phone to not boot. Hesitant to try to help, because you seem to be blaming me..... But if you can't restore a nandroid, it could be you're on a kernel in which the nandroid backup/restore feature doesn't work, you are running an earlier ICS build.

I'm sorry if i came across like that...
just that the phone is driving me nuts
ALSO.... it's the second time i am seeing where reboot take way longer than usual after restoring from a nandroid backup. I av done quite a few and reboot takes less than 10mins. I attempted one the other day and 2hrs 30mins later all i saw was the splash screen and boot animation, phone HOTT!!
This evening again, it looked as if it was going to do the same thing thing... it passed 20mins, i can't sit around waiting for that again
It sounds like a flash to stock KK4 (Full Reparation) would be your best bet. If you're already on G. B. bootloaders, I would recommend the NO BOOTLOADER version, no use flashing bootloader unnecessarily. After that, I would flash the rom of your choice, following the instructions in the O. P. line by line.
Maybe a lot more current rom.

Then I recommend re-flash the stock kk4 NO BOOTLOADER, format the internal sd, install the ROM again and install all the programs manually, not with the nandroid backup.

I seriously can't figure it out.

I've been tinkering with androids for well over a year now and have rooted unlocked and s-off'ed amongst other things many different devices. For some reason I'm having trouble flashing kernels to my s3. Yes I'm unlocked and yes I'm flashing aosp kernels to aosp roms and touchwiz kernels to touchwiz roms. The problem seems most persistent on aosp roms and yes I've also checked that they both had the same cm10 commits. The only kernel I could get to boot was clean kernel on beans custom. Other than that no other kernels will work. The device will boot then the screen will start glitching up and then eventually bootloop. I've also made sure to wipe dalvik and cache plus fix permissions. I've also tried just flashing the kernel after doing a full wipe and starting with a new rom and have root 66ed back to stock and re unlocked. Is there something I'm missing here? I'm getting frustrated as I love custom kernels. Oh and the latest combo I tried was liquid smooth rc3 and lean kernel 1.0. Thanks guys.

did you try wiping cach, davik cach, and fix permissions AFTER flashing then reboot?
Ofc wipe cach and dalvik cache before also.
My usual process goes something like this
*Wipe Cache
*Wipe Dalvik
*Flash Kernel
*Wipe Cache & Dalvik again
*Fix Permissions
Works like a charm every time.
Samsung Galaxy S3
i have had the same trouble once...fixed it by flashing back to a stock kernel first.
try this:
wipe cache & dalvik
flash stock kernel.zip- http://db.tt/ceeDTAfz
flash custom kernel
reboot
Is that the stock cm10 kernel or touchwiz? Also yes I've tried wiping before and after and fixing permissions. So weird and its driving me nuts. I miss having awesome battery life

Tried flashing the stock kernel still same thing. It's so weird. It will begin to boot and then boot animation will start flickering or flashing then glitch up. With every kernel it's the same result.

I've tried that a few times when doing a fresh rom install. I mean root66ing through odin should completely wipe everything. I just don't see what I'm missing. I've even tried using a different recovery and still the same. Could it just be something specific to my phone? I'm so freaking stumped!!

now when you odin back to stock, your booting into stock recovery after flashing the rom(root66) and doing a data wipe/factory reset correct? you said full wipe, but just want to be clear. it may be corrupted internal memory and might need to be reformatted.
I actually don't think I was wiping after I used Odin. I'll try that as soon as I get home. Though I have done plenty of factory data resets and system wipes, just not right after I odined. And you mentioned formatting how would I go about doing that?

follow section 6 of my guide...link in sig!
Always perform a full/mega wipe as:
1) Wipe data/factory reset
2) Wipe cache partition
3) Wipe dalvik cache
4) In mounts/storage section wipe /system
5) wipe /data
6) wipe /cache
7) wipe /preload
Then flash new ROM.
For flashing a kernel, please perform steps 2 and 3.
