Does anyone have the original stock camera app that the phone comes with? It has a better UI and all.. I just installed xboarders rom and it looks like froyo or whatever. Thanks

Read the threads first post, it only works for stock/OTA roms
stock camera app keeps force closing after rooting
Not sure what is going on here but about every other day the app crashes and I get a force close. I have to use titanium backup to reinstall the camera app. Vicious cycle that is never ending.

Everybody talk to me about Skyfire being one of the best, or, the best browser atm but I used to use it before it became that "good" and now it's 3.0, i downloaded it and everytime i try to launch it, it forces closes, I can't go further than accepting the conditions and even if I don't touch anything it'll force close..
I don't understand why and I've tried to uninstall it and reinstall it but nothing makes it work.
Do anybody know what would be the cause ?
Don't know works like a charm on my X10i <3
And you're running a normal 2.1 rom ?
Yes 2.1 Generic Nordic
It's really annoying... I'm on Rogers 2.1 and everything is working fine except this stupid Skyfire that won't stop force closing without any reason..
Mine too same problem. Uninstalled now. Was working fine first but suddenly force close issue started.
Now use dolphin hd. I global generic 2.1 rooted

I think i'm gonna reflash my phone and see what's going on..
Rogers 2.1 firmware here.. no problems with skyfire 3.0.

Then I'm gonna see to try some other versions of Skyfire before reflashing my phone
EDIT : I just looked at the the App which is on the market in the comments and it seems as you said since the Update a lot of users are experiencing an increase of Force Close and some have the same problem as me which is not possible to use it since in the first 5 seconds i launch it it'll force close.

Well 4 comments out of 5 says it's a lot slower, laggy, the Facebook Integration ruins it, it force close more than usual and the analisys of page seems to take more time.
I'm just saying what I read as I never had the opportunity to test it (I actually did but it was a while ago before it became interesting)
try installing back the stock browser, I had problems only when I removed it

Well i don't know if it's related because before I saw your message I was already reflashing my phone with the custom 2.1 Rom and now it's working perfectly !
But it's possible that you're right because I deleted the stock browser on my old rom.
Yeah Skyfire doesnt work without Stock Browser. I deleted SD Card Data from Skyfire and upgraded from 2.3.3 or 2 to 3.0 and its fine.
Ok so in my opinion, the stock camera.apk is a whole lot better than the one that is on gingerbread, and that is what is keeping me from switching. I use the camera on this thing a lot!i have read where some have tried to replace the new with the old to no avail... Can someone please make this happen, or even suggest a better alternative... In the mean time I will try to do the same
It will work we just need the LG framework again

Same here, I'm reversing back to eaglesblood 1.02 because it has the stock camera.

Dam. I really liked the lg cam too
G2x with faux AOSP
I really miss the ability to focus onto any spot on the screen, rather than limited to focusing on the middle of the frame or whatever it does automatically. I have not seen this feature on any of the camera apps in the market.
Vignette does that. It was too laggy for me, however, and I have since moved on to camera360.

This is also what is holding me back from quite a few ROM's and simply getting gingerbread also. I use it so much that it breaks the deal for me.
Any update on this?

I am having scrolling issues. I thought the issue was Rom related but after flashing cm7, UD, gingersense roms and even the stock RUU....I still have very choppy scrolling. I flash FULLWIPE prior to flashing any Rom. I have tried different kernels as well. Currently on ingersol 2.5 with kernel. Still a little choppy but the best I have has this far. Any ideas? I am willing to try anything really. My phone doesn't feel fast anymore thanks for the help.
FYI the issue is everywhere. Scrolling through setting, pics, app drawer, the web, and widgets.

Well, you sound like your somewhat experienced with flashing and stuff, but I'll ask anyway:
Have you checked apps and services? Are you restoring (maybe inadvertently) backed-up system data or apps/data after new flashes that might be messing with something?
Inspired Ace 1.0.1¦ XDA Premium
I am not restoring with TB...but I am allowing Google to backup and restore. Could that be the issue? After each flash Google restores like 25 apps. Not data though.

It could be. Google starts going to town on the app restoration thing.
I haven't done a whole a lot of new-rom flashes, but last flash, I remember Google taking the liberty of re-installing apps that I know for a fact I had uninstalled from the phone prior to the flash.
So I don't know how often or what action on the part of the user causes Google to "refresh" its list of what apps you have on your phone at any given time, but I personally would like to get some control over that.
So it's something to check into. I also don't know to what degree app data is able to be restore by way of the Google restore process, but I'd imagine it is possible for some of those apps to have some data restored as well.
Long story short... It's an area that has raised questions in my mind and I'm interested in gaining some clarity on the subject.

Probably stating the obvious, but are you using a Live Wallpaper? Almost every one I have tried other than the stock ones cause visible scrolling and swiping lag for me.
For months I used DlevRom. In that Rom, there was a camera hack that allowed me to use the power button to snap photos and allowed the use of the volume buttons to zoom in and out.
I recently upgraded to Zeus Rom and it does not have that feature. I searched for the hack on XDA and downloaded and flashed the mod, however, when rebooted and used the camera, it would force close when I took a photo.
I am confused to why this hack would not work with Zeus. I read where the hack would not work if the ROM was not deodexed. But Zeus is. That is what confuses me. I ended up just reinstalling the normal camera, but would like to make this hack work. It is so much easier using the power button to take photos with my phone.
Thanks for any tips.

It should work but I know THAT D's reasoning was that it's not good to take photos under 15% and that it was hacked enough. Should work though..

I agree it should work but I followed the instructions to a tee and it would allow me to open the camera app and it would flash but it would force close after. Who knows. I just find it easier pushing the power button than trying to find the button on the screen.

I have it in NumasX. You need more than just the camera app. You also need the camera firmware.

it will take some digging, but ive personally attached the hacked camera.apk to the zeus thread. search thru my posts
just use root explorer to move it to system/app...make sure to mount r/w
ive yet to see a good explaination as to why its bad and personally i dont like to get owned by my phone when im trying to take pics at the end of the night:banghead:

I had the hacked apk and replaced the original camera apk in the system app folder. It must just be my system because when I did this it would force close.

bigfau,
I copied both the camera apk and firmware apk and it worked.
That is not spelled out in the camera hack thread so that is what is need on Zeus if you want to have the hack.
Thanks!

Recently I've gone back to bare bones because it needed the battery life and stability, and surprisingly stock touchwiz isn't as bad as I remembered it.
I loved the camera app on cm7, is there a way to get in on barebones? I tried to install the apk and it worked but it just crashes whenever I open it

It probably needs "jni" (native C code) for it to run.
You could try looking in the CM7 source repository, probably in packages/apps/Camera/jni/Android.mk to see what is needed. Moving it to a different ROM could be dicey though.
In "gingerbread-release" I don't immediately see anything, so I'm puzzled.
Take a look at your logcat when you try to start the Camera app. It may reveal a clue.
