I was looking to buy the inspire unlocked from bestbuy. I already have the old data plan 15$ unlimited (grandfathered) + unlimited family messaging. If I pop my sim into the phone will ATT charge me for using an inspire? Even if my rom is changed and my sim card is the old 3g one not the 4g? Thanks
Yes. 10 char
Really? I am using an unlocked european Desire hd right now and they haven't said anything. But it only gets edge. Does that matter?

If you can get ahold of an unlocked Telus DHD you can get away with the data plan you currently have.
If you use the Inspire you will get caught since they have record of the IMEI numbers.
They didn't give me a 4g sim card, its still the same 3g card.

The 4G SIM is for the upcoming LTE, all current phones use the standard 3G SIM.
I bought mine off contract and I got to keep my 20$ unlimited plan they just had to switch me to the hspa unlimited. At the worst you should only have to pay five dollars more a month.

nope. it runs on the sprint network which does not use a sim...
u can use this
i actualy got the nookia n71 from Straight talk and i poped the sim in my iphone and it works fine u get 1000 minutes an 500 text i think for 30 $ and unlimited for 45.
and one more thing
after some googeling i found out that if i install a small mobile.cfg file i get unlimited internet on the iphone with the smart talk sim.
and now i have unlimited minutes text and internet for 45$
SWEEEET.
My friend is currently on Virgin with the Optimus V i believe? It is a pretty good Android based phone, but like an above poster mentioned there are a couple new Android phones coming out on virgin that you will probably want to take a look at =D
so i got a 2g data plan a now i ran over 2g so now my internet slow as hell is there any way that i could make it faster until i pay the bill ?
Use wifi whenever you can. The 2gb cap is bulls#@t. I ran over my first month so started using wifi at my house and work or wherever I could get a signal and have been fine since.

Consider upgrading to their 5 or 10 gig plan... I had been sent a notice that I was approaching my "throttling" point, was on the 5 gig plan, called t-mobile and was told that there was a new rate plan that gave me 10 gigs of data. I did have to extend my contract but that didn't bother me because I only had my plan a couple of months. With the new plan, my wife still has 5 gigs and the total bill only increased ~$5 because the unlimited talk/text/web portion of my plan went down $20.

I'm a have to look into this myself. A 5gig plan would be nice. Thanks.

Thank yall i will upgrade my plan i wish their was a way to make 2g fast since i ran over 2g.
How does simple mobile's $40 unlimited plan work with the One S?Is any body in here on that plan? If so what is the data speed? I am planning on using the One S on TMO's $30 5gb data plan but the 100 mins is too short. If the SM plan has 3g unlimitted I'd rather sacrifice 4g speed for unlimitted mins and 3g. Thanks.

I wouldn't go simple mobile because I had the $40 plan back on my amaze and the 3G speeds are a joke. Also if you want to use the internet you must program the APN settings which is annoying and sometimes doesnt work anyways along with MMS.

But it is on simple mobile's approved phone list,it even states that it will work on SM's 4g.

Does Simple use T-Mobile's 3G bands? If not, the best you'll get is EDGE.
True, but they cap you at around 1GB of data use on 4G and 3G speeds are the same as EDGE speeds. I never had a problem with simple mobile till last month when they completely cut off my data for going over 1.5 GB on my Nexus Prime. I was on their $60 plan. There are also videos on YouTube that show simple mobiles 3G speeds and why you shouldn't go with them.

I was thinking about switching to simple mobile I know the 3g speeds are terrible but I'm on wifi 90% of the day so it really would affect me there is wifi at my college wifi at my work and wifi at my house lol so I'm ok with edge speeds

I don't think they have a cap as long as u use it in moderation . My sister is on straight talk and using my galaxy s2 it gets around 6-9 download and 1-2 upload witch isnt bad for what we use our phones for I have one more week on tmobiles prepay but will be switching to straight talk I already ordered my sum card

6-9 mb on the $45 Plan?
Sent from my EVO 4G using XDA
I would much rather stay on tmo with the $30 5gb if all I use is internet and less that 100 mins a month..
Hey I come from the land of crap data plans a.k.a. Canada. Its known for,$10 a gb and 2ยข a MB overage fees.
I have a nexus 7 without 3g connection. Is it possible to take a old smart phone and set it up with a tablet data plan? The idea here is to have a tablet plan on my phone to tether my nexus bypassing the upcharge for the 3g model.

That's going to be carrier dependant. I have ATT and I know they don't allow that. Pretty sure sprint and verizon don't either.

Yep. Im currently in Canada using a bell tablet data plan on my s3. Works perfectly, tethering to my laptop and all. I got it with the first 2 months unlimited data, but i think that promo is over.
Telus is supposed to have a similar deal going on, just make sure they add the unlimited data. I had a problem because they forgot to do it at the store, otherwise its been working fine.
