the rom I am trying is NoSense Rom
You probably didn't do a full wipe. You need to format the data, cache, dalvik cache and system. Everything but the SDcard.

I have tried several ROMS and it's sad i have no success with CM& and Fauxs AOSP.. What could be the problem? Thankx
ok it seems alot of people are having problems flashing this particular rom. listen i do it like this and i neve, EVER have a problem so try this
now put the rom (zip) on ur sdcard im sure u know how, then from there wipe data, wipe cache, then go into advanced and wipe dalvik, THEN u install the rom, alot of people are doing it reverse do it like this ok so after the rom is installed, install the gapps rite after the rom. then boot ur phone up let it sit 5 minutes..........now if u want a custom kernel go back into recovery and wipe just cache and dalvik, no need to wipe data. ok so after u wipe cache then dalvik install the kernel and u are done boot up and enjoy!

how much wiping is necessary on the nexus s when flashing roms and kernels? i've had a habit of wiping data/cache/dalvik 3 times each from my epic days when it only had a broken clockwork recovery to work with. is that a recommended procedure?
i also see that when you select wipe data/factory data reset in clockwork, it wipes cache. does this make the wiping cache step unnecessary when installing a new rom?
one last thing. . . every time i wipe dalvik cache the prompt delivers an error. is this normal? is anything actually being wiped?
thanks in advance for your help

Use dalvik-wiper.zip from morfic to wipe the dalvik on your Nexus S.
Steps to flash a rom, kernel:
wipe cache
wipe dalvik using dalvik-wiper.zip
flash rom/kernel
fix permissions
If you're having any issue, boot loops, wipe data.
wow i can't believe i went this whole time without ever actually wiping the dalvik. . . heh
thank you! armed with this info i couldn't resist the itch to do a clean install of my favorite rom/kernel
Hey, I'm currently on MIUI ics. I know I have to wipe/factory reset everything. But is it safe to flash on the current CWM? Or do I need to update it or something? Do I just flash the new JB rom like I would switching from MIUI to a stock ics rom? I'm a noob, sorry if this doesn't make sense.
What version of CWM are you running?
You should be fine, but it never hurts to check. You flash a JB rom just like any other. Wipe wipe wipe and flash.
The whole wipe wipe wipe is completely unnecessary. One wipe is sufficient and any additional won't do anything.
It's like saying that unless you wipe exactly 3 times the Android Gods are going to demand a human sacrifice for your phone to boot.
lol i think dvorak meant wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, wipe data (wipe wipe wipe) but that's my take..
anyway, if you can flash MIUI ICS with whatever CWM version you currently have, you should be able to flash other JB ROM. Nandroid as always.. Goodluck!

This is what I did :
1. Boot into recovery and perform a nandroid backup of my MIUI installation.
2. Wipe.
3. Flash XenonHD 9 JB ROM + marmite 4.2 kernel.
My phone is running really smooth now. Good luck.

Yep, that's it. Of course wiping everything 3 times would be unnecessary.

if you get a cluster f*#@ of problems then clean install. It isn't that hard. Use Titanium Backup and good to go.
In Recovery:
1. wipe data/factory reset (this formats /data, /cache and .android_secure on sd)
2. format /system, /boot
this leaves you with only bootloader, recovery and radio...dalvik-cache resides on /data, so it's gone already.
3. flash rom
4. gapps & custom-kernel (if needed). No need to let the phone boot & settle before flashing them (most custom-kernels have a script that automatically wipes /cache & dalvik during kernel-install)
5. reboot
6. Run TB -- restore missing apps with data --1st option under restore
just updating rom:
1. flash rom-zip
2. wipe /cache and dalvik-cache
3. reboot
Do this before reporting any issues on the thread since the problems are often related to this and not the ROM or kernel.
Hi everyone, I tried the rom on this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1782009 and so far everything is great, I installed GAPPS... I think... I'm kind of a noob :/
Anyway everytime I open the Play Store it just closes in a nano second! And when I open the internet browser or other apps like that it says [Unfortunately, the process android.process.acore has stopped]
I used the HTC Sensation 4G AIO kit by Hasoon 2000 v2.0 for everything.
Can anyone please help me
you haven't done full wipe ..before flashing the ROM i think
go to recovery ...and do full wipe
if CWM recovery -> wipe->factory reset + wipe cache + wipe dalvik
if 4EXT recovery ->wipe/format->format everything except sdcard
then flash the ROm and then gaaps
that will do
btw when you do full wipe ..you lose all data of the phone ..apps/messages/call logs etc etc

Thank you
Currently running a custom ROM (1.55.605.2) and would like to change to another custom ROM that is 1.54.401.5
Are there any precautions to take when going back? Do you just do the normal wipe (factory reset, wipe cache partition, and wipe dalvik cache) and then install ROM?
