QuickBoot and Reboot Control Widget - T-Mobile LG G2x

I have been using Reboot Control Widget ever since my first Android phone. It has been a great tool until I got the G2X. On the G2X the widget gets root permissions, but nothing works.
So I switched to QuickBoot. QuickBoot can turn the phone off and reboot it, but it cannot boot into recovery. When I select this option the phone reboots normally back into the Android system.
Does anyone know of an app or widget that can reboot into physical recovery that we installed with NVFlash? Not a big pain to turn off phone, press volume down and power; but a handy tool to have.

I've had that problem too with quick boot so I've used Root Booter from speed software, but costs money.

I don't mind paying for an app if it does what I want it to do. Can Root Booter boot into the CWM recovery that we installed using NVFlash? If so, worth a buck or two. I paid for Reboot Control Widget way back when but now it doesn't work on the G2X at all.

Root Booter doesn't work on Gingerbread either. I just tried it and it just does a normal reboot instead of booting into recovery. I guess it is not possible to do on this phone.

I wonder how the CM team implements this. With cm7 if you long press the power button, one of the options is to reboot into recovery and it boots into the nvflashed version.

Bootloader Mode

Anybody know how to get into Bootloader mode on the Inspire 4G? I have tried holding the Volume Down button while restarting and all the phone does is vibrates and reboots normally. Am I missing something?
You're doing it right (Vol Dwn + Power)
Just make sure to hold volume first before you hold power.
Make sure you have fastboot turned off in sense.
I press volume down, then select "restart". Keep holding power down until you get into bootloader.
I take the battery door off to power off, then slap it on real quick then hold volume - down, then hold power button. It can be a little tricky to do. Then ull be in bootloader and have four options to choose from. Ive only done it manually this way because i was in boot loop. Was scared ****less the first time i got boot loop, cause i wasnt sure if there was a way to get to recovery manually lol.

Are you guys booting into clockworkmod? When I hold down volume and power it goes into that.
sent from my Inspire 4G
If you manually do the volume button and power button trick it should put you in bootloader mode then you can choose to boot into recovery, ive never had my inspire boot right into recovery unless i choose it in rom manager.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
i tried doing that but it just goes to fastboot the reason that i want it to go to bootloader im trying to re-flash it back to stock...
Power your phone off. Now that your phone is off hold the volume button down and tap the power button. Now you should be in bootloader mode. If your trying to get into recovery mode download rom manager from the marketplace.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
be sure you have Fastboot turned off in Applications.
Another thing you can do is download Quickboot from the market...then boot into bootloader from there. Quickboot>bootloader
Is it really that difficult??lol, for me when I hold the power button while phone is on, it gives me multiple options to reboot , including bootloader and recovery...
If your phones off , then just holy the vol down and off key .
Oh and I have fastboot on and I have no problems.

That's because your running a ROM with an extended power menu. Other people might not be.
A lot of the people that are having problems are probably running sense roms and have fastboot on. I got confused by this at first because with fastboot on it doesn't actually shut off so the down and power method doesn't work
Sent through the power of Cthulhu.
You can download quick boot from the market. Makes so much easier booting into recovery.
yeah Im trying to do that I am able to boot in where it shows Hboot and then you have other options to choice from but Im not all able to select anything it just scans and then go to the scan mode and ask if i want to update
I was thinking about installing the gingerbeast. Has any installed that?
I did a nanadoid back up went into Rom Manger and clicked flash C/W-R and I made that..and I did that backup current ROM also.

You can delete it either using a file manger app like astro, root explorer etc or you can do it by connecting your phone to your PC.
As to flashing a rom. Place the file in the root of your SD card to make it easier to find. I prefer to do my flashing manually. Boot into recovery either through rom manager or through hboot. Scroll down to wipe data/factory reset. Select with power button ans confirm in the next screen. Next go into advanced and select delete dalvik cache. Confirm. Now select go back and choose install from SD card. Scroll to gingerbeast rom and select and confirm.
And yes you'll be able to reads your wallpaper

help cant reboot into recovery after root

I'm new to Android and had my phone rooted everything seems good with the root but as soon as I go into rom manager and try to go into recovery mode I get the white HTC screen then starts to turn kinda brownish then black and will stay like that until phone is shut off. Please help I can't download any custom roms due to this I'm guessing. Thanks
Open Rom manager again. Press the option at the top to flash the recovery. After its done try to boot into recovery again.
Sent from Desire HD or Inspire 4G or whatever this thing is called via premium XDA app.
Ya I tried that already a few times and still does not work also changed the clockworkmod recoveries and nothing
Have you tried booting into recovery manually by holding volume down and pressing the power button? I find this way is more reliable that ROM manager.
Is there a trick to that I tried it my phone vibrates and get the power off option but no reboot to recovery thanks
Have you turned fastboot off? settings - applications - remove check from fastboot
Make sure fastboot is off, like the poster above me said. Turn your phone off. Hold the volume down and press the power button. You should then be able to scroll down and select recover.
All you guys are awesome the headache is gone it worked thanks very much
actually when i go into recovery i still get that htc screen that turns black and will frezze up
Did you use Bubby323's root method? That is what it sounds like. If you did, then read the FAQ. There is a fix for this graphical error.

HTC Screen only on startup. Volume control faulty

I've got a curly one. I lost super user app so I was doing a restore through EXT4 boot as I have no working volume rocker.
The program got stuck and screen went black.
Upon restart , I get to the HTC screen of death and nothing else.
I cannot hold down volume and power button as volume button is shot.
Is there a way to connect through USB and fire up a recovery screen ?
i've got somewhat of the same issue - due to some water damage, my vol - button does not seem to function anymore. i would like to keep flashing ROMs, but am afraid of getting into a bootloop and not being able to access hboot. is there any way to bypass the vol- power button combo for getting into hboot?
I've got a faulty vol+ button here. No clue why.
ADB reboot recovery
My vol down is starting to go hmm I wonder what the fail rate is ? I smell a design flaw.

Yes but you have to be up and running to use it.
I use 4 ext boot which allows me to use recovery with out the need for a volume control. Just need power, menu and home . buttons.

[Q] Alternative way to go into recovery

My power button suddenly stop responding. I can tell cause when I'm using volume wake, everything's working fine. The problem is I can't proceed to recovery considering the power button is the only way to activate it. Am I wrong? Is there another way? Wanna restore to a previous ROM backup, just to be sure I didn't hit a wall with my current ROM. Any thoughts guys? Wanna be sure before I have my phone opened up.
Edit: I forgot to mention, I also used fastboot to reboot my phone but it says my phone is offline. Which led me to believe there is more to it than a hardware issue on my phone.

Update: I finally restored my backup using ROM manager and finally get into recovery using the search button as an altrenate for the power button. It looks like my power button is really broken. Will be using volume wake atm. My only concern now is how to get my phone online at fastboot. :-/
You can go to fastboot or recovery using some apps, like one called for CWM Manager. Or even use a command line in ADB.
You can't get fastboot because when the power button breaks it's like if the power button was stuck to ON. That glitches fastboot and you can't scroll to select recovery or anything of the sort.
Oh, thats is true. :/
Can your device power on ? If so use "adb reboot recovery"

Sorry for the late reply guys. I just had my power button replaced, was so busy crack-flashing when 4.2.2 arrived that I failed to come back and thank you all for all your inputs. Appreciate it! Now my only problem is that my phone won't go online using ADB. Well as long as I could go into recovery within the phone using my power button.. I'll concern myself with that in the future. Thanks again guys!

Try flashing a factory image in fastboot. It might clear out some issues..maybe relock and unlock bootloader too after backing up your data if there is time for this operation .
I do it from time to time.

[Q]

Hi all
my P6800 is acting up and I could use some help.
Not sure if something broke due to a fall or maybe it's a software/setting issue but here is what's going on:
- the power button seems to have taken the volume up functionality. sometimes it feel like it's doing both (i.e. volume up and power pressed together) because when I reset I sometimes get to the android recovery page (where you can reboot, update from storage, wipe everything, etc.)
- when I connect it to the charger it keeps going to the lock screen (i.e. I unlock it and after 2 seconds it goes back to the lock screen). it's working fine if I unplug it
Now, I figured I might as well wipe it clean and install the new JB (currently on ICS) but it's very hard to get to the download screen without a being able to hold the power button (for the power+volume down combo).
I did manage to get to it once (I was randomly rebooting while pushing different things) but I can't manage to do it again
so my questions for the pros out there are:
- Any idea how can I resolve the button functionality?
- Is there an alternative way to get to the download screen? I can live without the power buttom if it's a hardware malfunction but I want to at least do it with JB...
thanks
O
If you are rooted, try the app "RebootMenu" free from Google Pay

There are others too
Edit: If you are still unable to select anything in recovery (power button issue), instal TWRP recovery instead of CWM

I can select stuff in the recovery menu. pressing the power button goes one up and selects (which is consistent of it acting as both power and volume up)
Not rooted at the moment but might try it

Until OP replies, just a guess ....
1. Root from stock 3e recovery (Chainfire method) power button acting as both vol up+ power
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849235
2. Installed reboot app
3. Booted into DL mode and flashed JB with Odin
4. re-root by same method (if root lost during flash)

Yeap, exactly.
Didn't do #4 yet though. I thought that method (without CWM recovery) didn't work for JB

Not sure about JB, but
With Mobile Odin Pro app you can flash firmware straight from your rooted device and option to retain root.
No need for DL mode
