As per title anyone aware of a way to link google calendar to your ppc,

I have seen readers, but these do not sync with the internal calendar, which I assume you want to do (as I do too).
I am really surprised there is no simple way to sync an ical profile with either Outlook or Pocket Outlook.
I know you can sync with a public profile on your desktop, but I doubt everyone wants to make their calendars public, and still doesn't help for people on the move.
An alternative would be to stop using Google Calendar for now until more solutions are available, and set-up a Live Mail2Web account, and simply use their Outlook Web Access for your calendar needs, and put the sync profile in your Activesync.
http://live.mail2web.com
It's the only good all round solution to online contacts backup, calendar sync, and push mail, and all from one provider, and free of charge too.
Nice one mate ill look into that
Remote Calendars
I've been using an open source program called Remote Calendars.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/remotecalendars/
it synchs your google calendar to outlook which can then be synched to your PPC.
you can also synch the other way (i.e. put something in your PPC and have it transferred to Google)
it's not a perfect system but it's the best i've found
Am I right in thinking you still have to make your calendar public for this application to work though?
No google calendars have two addresses:
a public one - which you can disable and
a private one - which you should never give to anyone else or publish anywhere
you can get your private address from the Calendar Details page of the settings menu. this is what you use for Remote Calendars
so your calendar is still private (or shared with family & friends etc)
woohhhoooooooo
Google Calendar Sync
This only works for main calendar:
5 March 2008 Google Calendar Sync allows you to sync events between Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook Calendar.
http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?answer=89955
You can now access your Google Calendar account from your mobile phone! Just visit mobile.google.com/calendar/ with your phone's web browser and once you're logged in, you'll see your list of upcoming events with date and time information in an easy-to-browse format.
Cheers

I have a question about the calendar app in 2.1 on the hero. If I have 2 google accounts with a personal calendar on one and a business calendar on the other account, I know that I can link both accounts to the phone so that I can sync the calendars down from google to the phone. So when you go to the calendars option in the calendar setting it shows 3 calendars, google personal, google work, and my calendar. The question is this. Is there any to create an appointment and have it only sync with the personal google calendar? Would I have to go to the calendar settings and uncheck the other 2, make the appointment and sync it and the check the other 2 again?

Yes, just use the top drop down menu when you add an event. By default it will only publish to one calendar, you just need to tell it which one. Personal you would use that calander, work, you select that one.
Hope that helps
edit: You can also go to the web calendar app and link your work calendar so you can "see" it on your personal one. Then when you use that google account on the phone the work calendar will appear in the "view calendar" menu. I do this for my wife's calendar and I can post to hers as well, I just have to tell the phone which calendar to add the event to when I create it, all from one google account.
This is probably a dumb question, but is there any possibility to give Eclair the ability to sync multiple Google Apps calendars? It is limited to calendars from only 1 Google Apps account, but from what I've read, that limitation was addressed in Froyo.
Thanks in advance.
Try sharing your Google calendars with your master account and give it full permissions.
Yeah, I know that there are some workarounds (like that one), but the non-main account is my business account and the calendar isn't shareable with accounts outside the company.
Edit: Thank you, though, for the response!
The one "workaround" I have in place is that I setup an "Email" account with my google credentials using m.google.com as the server, then set it to never push mail, just sync my calendar, it's a google apps account and it works.
Sorry if I am being dense, can you elaborate/clarify?
If I add any other account to the Accounts area of Settings via the Google option, it will not provide me with the ability to sync a calendar (because my primary is a Google Apps account). If I add my account via the Corporate option, it allows creation of the account, but the calendar doesn't show up in the Calendar app.
I use the Corporate email setting, using "username"@********.***, you can just as easily use a gmail address [email protected] as an example, once the settings appear for the domain\username, wipe out what's automatically placed there and instead enter [email protected] or whatever your FULL gmail/google apps email address you wish to use, enter your password and then for the Exchange Server enter m.google.com also make sure Use SSL is enabled. Once completed I uncheck syncing of contacts as I already have the same account set up in the GMail app, I set it ti NEVER push mail, no notifications, and to sync calendar, the span amount shouldn't matter. I have had no problem getting it to show up in my list of calendars and to sync accordingly.
That's great, it works! Sadly it doesn't bring in all of your calendars, just the "primary" calendar for that account... but that is a huge improvement over the normal situation.
Thanks a lot for that tip, really appreciated.
My work email is on Exchange server. We also have an LDAP address book system.
Previously on stock Froyo, after adding the exchange/outlook account in Settings --> Accounts & Sync, when i go into contacts, i can type in a name and search for it on LDAP server. [alternately i can put a name in the To/Cc/Bcc field of stock email app, and there will be a link to search the server if the name is not on local contacts list]
On stock N4G Gingerbread, ive added exchange server just the same
Now however, there is no way to access or search the ldap server. If a contact is not stored to Google contacts, the phone wont find it. What can i do?
I have my wife's calendar synced with my google calendar. Her calendar events keep popping up on the ambient display of my pixel 3. Can I select which calendars display when the screen is locked?
I like being able to see her calendar when I open the calendar app, but I don't need my phone to display that it's almost time for her to pick up the kids from school.
Regular notifications from her calendar don't display, but the ambient lock screen notifications do.
Any suggestions welcome.
I have my fiancee's calendar synced with mine and it doesn't display on my lock screen. She shared it with me though. Do you have your wife's Google account added as a second account on your phone or did she go into Calendar settings and share with your Google account? If she added you as an attendee the her events they are in your calendar too, which could be another reason why they are showing up.
If I slide out the menu in the Calendar app under the view options I see my Google account and it says Events, Reminders, her name and my friend's name (who also shared his calendar with me). I do have another Google account stored in my phone but don't use the calendar on that account and all the boxes are unchecked.
Her events show on my calendar in a different color.

Thanks for the idea's.. solution below
I added her calendar on the desktop browser version of google calendar (~5 yrs ago). She shared full permissions to create/edit/manage events in her calendar, so it's listed on my Google account as one of MY calendars.
SOLUTION: On her account, I went to the calendar in question and changed my permissions so that I can view events, but can no longer edit them. When I did this, the calendar moved from the section of the google calendar website (when viewed from a PC) called 'my calendars' to the section called 'other calendars'. Her events no longer show up on the ambient display when my screen is locked.
It looks like my pixel3 will display upcoming events from MY calendars on google, but not ones that I have added by URL or have view-only permissions for.
Follow up question: Anyone know if I can I set it so that a calendar added by URL does display on the ambient display (the opposite of my original post)? For example, my soccer team publishes an iCal link with all their games. I have added it to my google calendar, and it would be nice to have the ambient display show those events.
Interested to know if you worked out how to display a calendar by URL on your Pixel AOD....I'd like to do this too but it appears you can only display your Google Calendar and specifically only events created in the Google Calendar??
