The short answer is no. The MAC is stored in the NIC hardware, so short of replacing the phone, it can't really be done.
Unless your company's wifi is unsecured and depending on what monitoring software is being used , you may have your user id logged (ie Websense)

Open wifi /no password. Can it still be traced back to me?

Probably not easily. Sounds like the wifi is outside of the firewall. If not, it sounds like a network ripe for some hackery.

So they would not be able to see I'm on job search sites? That would be great! And now I know to stay on 4g
Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk

They may be able to see where the traffic within their network is going, but they won't be able to pinpoint it to your personal device unless you've given them your device information before hand or if you let them look at it to check. That is, unless you're the only one working... Then it would come back to you by default.

Thank you all. I greatly appreciate your help.

Why would you think they are monitoring all employee traffic and then even have the tools sophisticated enough to filter out and monitor people looking for jobs. It would seem to me they would have to know the address to even look for. I guess if you are going through a corp mailbox where copies are kept it could be done but seems like something that they would only look at if they are reading all your e-mail.. (of course I hope you don't work for the NSA--then all bets off )

[ACS] [Epi-Nex 2.3.4] It's back... (WIP - 17/6/2011)

And you all thought it wasn't gonna happen... ;-)
Stay tuned, Alpha release within 24 hours.
Samsung Epic 4G [SPH-D700] GRI22 Android 2.3.4 (Sprint Nexus S 4G Port)
VOIP / SIP / GTalk / Google Voice - Outbound and inbound internet calling
PROJECT FOCUS:
1. Deep integration between carrier(Sprint) and Google Voice for free voice calling, without using any of your mobile device's minutes with IP & VOIP integration to GV. Outbound & Inbound calls purely through Google Voice / GTalk using IP or SIP protocol. Also unlimited video calling, SMS, chat, etc...
2. Extend device beyond manufacturer & carrier's service level agreement, allowing the Samsung Epic to be a top player for time to come
3. Provide a base AOSP platform for CDMA Galaxy S & Future Samsung mobile devices
4. Give me another challenge I guess?
5. Give users the ability to flash directly to the boot, sbl, kernel, recovery, cache, and data partitions without odin or heimdall using flash_image and .IMG files instead of .bin, and finally be able to choose more than one file system during flashing, from within a recovery or android itself.
6. SECRET (Soon to be announced)
I want this to be more of a community effort, being that the development for the Epic is seriously lacking, well development. So please, I encourage suggestions and constructive criticism, keep the moronic stuff to a bare minimum if possible.
You don't like it, or have an issue? I don't care. I don't want to hear about it either. Get bent, and go install another theme and call yourself a dev.
First. No 3g?

Screen animations at this point, are pretty much non existent. I'm sorry, but your question falls under the "dumb" category. Why worry about what the screen looks like while turning on or off, when there is a much bigger picture at hand?
I would like to avoid useless posts like the above(no offense) that will do nothing but clutter the thread, and accomplish nothing.

Nice! Unlimited calling. Built right in to the rom! SIP native features using googles own services. That's what I envision when I think of a pure google phone experience. It would be nice to finally have a baseline for samsung galaxy s and cdma devices. Just when things were starting to look down as far as developement goes. Thanks for the hard work, know that its greatly received and appreciated.

Would it be possible to have an option to enable voip to be carried on a tcp connection or is this completely our of the dev's control?
It would be nice since my isp at home tends to suck when making voip calls using udp. I don't know why.

Sarcasm not needed. Please please please please please don't ruin this for us with unneeded comments like that. I swear to god I'll shut down your internet connection.
The screen on question, was in fact, not related to the OP as it wasn't stated as an objective. And I don't care how it was worded, question or not, it was a request, plain and simple. This isn't a space for wondering about features. Its for discussion and discovery as directly related to the OPs objectives. Its what the old XDA used to be, from the archives that I've read.
End of discussion

Welcome back! I'm happy to know that you've fully recovered from that accident and came back with a bang! But here is the real question, does this rom, when its fully working, have to be on 3g in order to make calls? My area has low 3g speeds so I see that as a potential issue if so... I'm just a noob, don't bite... too hard

wif-fi calling apk

I tried to take my kineto apk off of my G2x and place it onto my moms new Samsung Admire but it kept crashing. Why wont this work? Anyone know of a wifi calling apk for her phone that will?

Possible? I have already rooted her phone.

There are special libs that work with Kineto.apk. They are located in /system/lib, they are:
libganril.so
libkineto.so
librilswitch.so
They all must be on the phone to make wifi calling work. Will they work flawlessly on her phone? I honestly don't know, but that's how it is on the G2x. I never even heard of that phone
I'll try pushing
libganril.so
libkineto.so
librilswitch.so
into her system/lib folder and see what happens. Do i need to link these shared obj files or can i just place them?

Thats probably why i never heard of it, he's right. You chances of getting it to work are slim if it's not a T-Mo phone.

Yes i am aware that the wifi calling apk is for t mobile. I figured i might give it a try though and see what happens. Maybe thats a dead end. So, I have nettalk on her phone at the moment but it only works on out going calls and gives her a different number. I need something similar to t mobile wi-fi calling that allows her to keep her number? I am willing to buy from the market. One time fee though. Nothing like pay per call or credited accounts. Ideas?

There is no way the T-Mobile Wi-Fi calling app will work for you. Regardless of if you can get the app to run on the phone, it requires specific support on the carrier side to work.

Yeah i have thought about doing that but from what I've heard, she gets assigned a GV number and is not able to keep her old one. It's like having a whole new number. then she would have to hand that out. Thats why i have been hesitant and left this as my last resort. But hey, something is better than nothing any day in my book!!
Or am i wrong? Does she get to keep/use her old one?
@andrewNY, yeah i was hoping that wasn't the case, thanks for confirming though!

[Q] Lost my phone

Last night, I lost my phone while I was out partying. Im not that upset about the loss, since I was going to upgrade it to a Nexus 4 anyway. The only thing that worries me, is that if someone finds the phone, they have acces to all my Google services, Facebook, etc.
Is there a way to prevent that? A way to log me out on all devices?
Anything that can prevent people from accesing my private information. I had my Gmail, my drive files, etc. on the phone.
Im afraid my lockscreen was on "slide to unlock" aswell. So there is not much protection there.
I really hope you can help me out here. It was a Galaxy Nexus running Cyanogenmod.

[APP REQUEST] Motorola Assist Modification

I was wondering if any developers would be willing to look in to the Moto Assist app, I know there's a few of us that would like to be able to toggle the driving functionality on and off at will.
I work from home programming, so it's great to be able to just vocally tell my phone to read me texts, or answer calls... but then I'd like to be able to turn it off when I go out to dinner haha. I've already tried work-arounds like forcing car mode on, or downloading other apps. Nothing works as well as the stock Moto Assist app, but unfortunately it only works when I'm driving, it must pull from the GPS.
Anyway, if someone could look into this that would be awesome, it's a bit beyond my ability regrettably. Thanks! :fingers-crossed:
Like being able to say.. "okay Google now. Turn on moto assist"

I thought of this one too
Look at these weird permissions assist has maybe we just need an app with these permissions

EDIT
New finding in SmartActionsHanashi.apk ... there's a service com.motorola.hanashi.CommunicationMediatorService (my guess on which service it is) and I think (I dont do much reverse engineering) we just need an app to activate the service after we edit the SmartActionsHanashi.apk to make the service exported (it is false ATM)...
I would try it myself but with no root I cant reinstall the SmartActionsHanashi.apk
Edit like 4
SmartActionsHanashi.apk also has all of the right resources. so i am 90% sure that this is the apk we are looking for.
If anyone would like to try my idea PM me, you WILL need root.

In all fairness, it's a completely different situation. I know with my Droid DNA it took MONTHS to see anything other than slightly modded stock ROMs.
I'm sure the Moto X community will pick up in the next few months but that being said i'll probably get a Nexus 5 to satisfy my urges.

New development assist app uses new modified smart actions app and there are rules in here that correspond to assist actions but using the ones they have all I can do is confuse the phone..... There are also strange actions that don't do anything except if in the driving sleeping meeting actions ....in the pictures I'm sitting at my desk but in the status bar you can see I'm "driving" but no texts are read and music didn't start either....
Sent from my XT1058 using Tapatalk 4
Edit the command i got to open the assist engine is
adb shell
su? idk i just used it
[email protected]:/ # am start com.motorola.contextual.smartrules2/.app.AboutActivity
AOV is Touchless Controls
I believe LED is Active Notification
use with caution i probably messed up my assist just now
Is anyone still working on this by chance? The only thing about my Moto X that I wish was different is having the ability to switch having the phone read my texts aloud on and off at will. I'm surprised that such a useful feature is limited to only driving when there are so many situations where it would be useful. Being able to do this without needing root access would be ideal.
This would be very useful and definitely be awesome for a work environment.
I am going to try and do it again. I have some new ideas on how to do it!
Will post in here and make a new thread if profit is achieved :fingers-crossed:
I would defiantly donate $10 for this.
Profit
