How I recommend running EP1W - Verizon Droid Charge

So I know there has been many threads on EP1W, but for what its worth I figured I would write a quick how to on getting a super fast set up using debloated simple TW4 that NEVER has force closes or reboots and remains outrageously smooth and fast.
So fast in fact when I went to Verizon today to check out the bionic, my EP1W charge felt just as smooth.
For starters I downloaded the EP1W debloated leak from TBH obviously.
I odin the leak and Imo's recovery from this thread (I already had the test voodoo kernel on SD card)
http://rootzwiki.com/showthread.php...l-(leaked-stock-repacked-v2.0.0voodoo-9-8-11)
I booted phone initially then installed imo's 2.0 test GB kernel. (let the chipmunks do their thing, let the phone fully boot)
EDIT sorry I'm on 1.0.5 kernal I haven't updated, but read imo's post thoroughly to ensure proper flashing!
Next, and this is where the fun begins, go to hazards [how to][script] thread and scroll down to his second post and click the g-script link, follow those directions to get init.d into your system folder. You will need this for v6 supercharger settings to stick and loopy smoothness to work.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216098
Once you have init.d in your system/etc/ you can start installing these awesome scripts, follow both the v6 and the loopy smoothness how to's on hazards thread.
Once you get to step 5 on loopy how to, you need to make sure to set your launcher value to :
USER LAUNCHER="com.sec.android.app.twlauncher"
This is your TW4 launcher
Also on another note instead of using option 11 in the V6 script, I recommend option 12, it just makes the launcher even more stable
Since doing all this I have been able to multitask with no hesitation, never had a FC of TW4, never had a redraw of any kind. I really recommend trying this and seeing for yourself!
Also, if anyone else has any other suggestions I am always open to hearing them, I'd like to keep this more of a discussion thread then a how to!

Currently you can't go straight to IMoseyON 2.0.0 Voodoo from stock EP1W (both bloated/debloated). You're going to get sdcard errors. Take a look at the discussion in the very thread you posted.

My bad I updated op I'm on 1.0.5, and regardless I am just posting my experience I still assume people will read the other threads to know what they are flashing.

Yea no worries, just sounded like you were giving a step by step and its a bit more complicated than that.
But on that note, if you're on the old test kernel, you should try out his new true Voodoo kernel (2.0.0) - huge improvement in speeds. If you're already all ext4 u can flash 2.0.0 directly.

Cool thanks ill load try it now
EDIT: Yeah 2.0 kernal is sweet, even faster, which I didn't think was possible!

I have a very similar setup. Installed bloated but debloated using TB. Running 2.0 on kernel. Got SuperCharger v6 installed, but can't get loopy to show up in init.d so not running it. Using Go Launcher. Radio is about as fast as ever. Quadrants of 1921, 2122, 2197, 2204 (in order). Got 160 apps installed. No lag anywhere. Haven't encountered an error in the 2 days I've had it. By far the best the phone has ever run.
Frankly prior to this I probably wouldn't have recommended the phone - THIS is what I paid the money for.

This config is the fastest, most stable setup I've had on any Android device. I was using P3Droid's debloated EP1W. I loved the look and feel, but was getting lots of random reboots. I know this guide doesn't say anything "new" per say, but I appreciate the consolidation of the tweaks.
Thank you!

Sounds intresting but im not brave enough to test it on my self... just like to share!
I've tried this on every rom. Yes, It works.....very, very well.
Thanks... will try it in a few hours
I've tried it with OTA 2.3.4. It ran fine, but i do not feel any real difference for the time being. Applied "Aggressive 2" schema.

I ran these same scripts with no problem (but I did have to downgrade my BusyBox). Things seem a little faster, but it's not like night and day or anything. Just a little faster.
I installed v6 supercharger and then I rebooted, after wards I installed the other two and then rebooted. Is that okay or should I have rebooted after each install?
I don't know how the dev did it but this script work wonders for me! Super smooth and no lag! Everything loads super fast now.

mind sharing which rom/kernel combo you are using? it must already be really smooth for everyone else to have such dramatic improvements in comparison to yours..

Phones performance decreases significantly after about a day of use.

Hi all, so far I've repeated this process with the same results about a day later multiple times with vahalla 1.2 and latest FTW.
Procedure: kc1 clean up with odin, odin GB boot loaders, flash kg4 kernel with cwm, flash vahalla 1.2 through cwm, disable voodoo, let boot and sit 15mins, reboot recovery, factory reset, enable voodoo, boot and hear linda, let phone sit for 10mins, reboot recovery, flash sasv7 and kh2 modem, reboot and let sit for 5mins, reinstall all apps plus data with titanium backup, remove tw4.5 and add launcherpro, then restore launcher pro settings and homescreen layout, then dsextons* uv settings with tegrak, finally I use mobile terminal and run the the command the keeps lp in memory and therefore stops homescreen redraws.
-These are the steps I take to install a new rom from a clean state. Everything runs super smooth. Quad scores around 23-2400. No lag, very responsive.
-The problem is after about one day, the phone becomes almost glitchy/ laggy. It freezes from time to time and is overall not very responsive. Quad scores drop to 11-1200 overnight.
-My question is what could be causing this on a rom that everyone seems to have such positive results.
-My thoughts are its the script that I ran. But then how do I stop homescreen redraw. I get it a lot with launcher pro and adw. I dislike tw very much.
-or it could be restoring all my apps with TB
-or maybe the order in which I'm installing the rom..
-I'm at a loss, and any help would be appreciated.
Thanks for reading.
Edit: The script used in terminal.
$ su # echo ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1 >> /data/local.prop
SOLVED-------------
-So for about a day now I've been playing with my phone and can attribute the problem to launcher pro and my settings.
for those interested I had turned up the home screen scrolling speed from 5 to 9 and the same with the app drawer opening speed under launcher pro. I think this, plus my ultra low UV settings caused my phone to be unstable. this is honestly just a guess. but ive had no problems for about a day now. the script provided, not running the UV so low; although still UV, and not messing with LP settings are the only things that ive changed. so far so good, but only time will tell. thanks for all the help everyone. Oh and no redraws either =]

do you get homescreen redraws at stock voltage? I don't get any kind of homescreen redraw with TW4.5 on valhalla 1.1 I'm also undervolting, but using my own settings, which are not as low as dsextons, which didn't work for me since I didn't flash his SAS.
I had frequent issues with LP when using one restored through Titanium - freezing after every boot etc.... Deleted (wiped caches too), and re-downloaded from the market and the problem went away. Makes no sense that it should do this, but it did make a difference for me. Same issue and solution on my wife's SGS4G.
I love LP so was very happy when it started behaving itself.
May or may not work for you but worth a try.
Edit: I am running Valhalla 1.2 with Dsex's undervolt settings and V7 Tweaks.
yes i still get homescreen redraws on stock voltage. but not nearly as often
with my above configuration minus the script, it redraws if i use any heavy app for more than a minute (navigation, emulator, ect.)

[Q] So hanyone tried the V6-SuperCharger Script already and lived to tell about it?

I am of course referring to this script:

I tried to implement it about two months ago, and it did not work for me. Phone went into a loop at boot. I just gave up.
Anyone?
It would be really nice to find out if we can benefit from this as well.

I posted it here because I am asking about LG G2x users. In the script thread, you won't find questions about specific devices so much. It's more on how to install, what does it do, and so on.
I tried it didn't bootloop or anything but I didn't notice any difference in performance etc.
I just started using the V6 supercharger about a month and a half ago on my LG G2x and have loved it. before this i was running minfree to change presets but I like V6 because it has lots of options for those that don't fully understand what the presets do. If you use a low setting you probably wont notice much of a difference and I must say that I notice the biggest difference when I am overclocked and using V6 at the same time. If I'm not overclocked and using V6 I don't notice much. same thing when I am just overclocked without V6, not much of a diff. Both together seem to be great.
Also to those with boot loop problems - how long are you leaving your phone before you decide it has looped...a few times i have just had to walk away from my phone for 15-20 minutes just so I'm not tempted to pull the battery and every time i have left it alone i come back to everything running fast, smooth and stable.

Yeah, "I get a performance gain when I'm overclocked with the script, but get no performance gain without OC and the script" so that would be the placebo effect.
However, V6 SuperCharger does work very well at setting the right OOM groupings and also makes everything a lot smoother for me. I'm underclocked to 750mhz and get the performance of the stock 1ghz.

Eh, maybe, if you're on a lower end phone, I think the effect would be more noticeable as well, it would also be noticed if you ran alot of apps at once since multi tasking will take up more RAM than for someone like me who listens to music and browses the forum and maybe uses maps if I don't feel like paying attention to where I am at on the bus.

All true, but in hypocrats case it is complete placebo since he is using the lower setting.
He says he notices a performance gain with overclocking and the script, but none without overclocking and the script. Performance gain was all overclock.
But the higher settings work well, the script makes everything smooth, even for me at 750mhz, and will fix OOM groupings.
Maybe, but my battery life is better in standby and I have less issues with the stock internet browser. Below 100mb free and it became very buggy for me. I would love it if everyone shared what rom they are using and their settings. I am using close to the recommended settings.I am using New Clip (weapon based) and #5 unleaded.

Screen sensitivity adjust in clockworkmod recovery will cause MAJOR lag

I discovered that if I adjust my screen sensitivity under clockwork mod recovery from "default" to "sensitive2" it will cause my captivate to seriously lag. It makes almost everything go hay wire. This is just a resource for anybody else who might have stumbled onto a lagging problem.
I am using the corn 7.06 kernel(thanks mtcarey) and the legend 3.7 ICS ROM(thanks crt60), I have my governor as smartassv2 and my I/O scheduler as SIO. My LMK is at 70mb, instead of 48 default (this will probably change depending on stability).
My captivate has run smoother than it ever has on these settings, with lots of the bloat removed as well.
Can anybody else confirm this?
Corn 7.06 has CWM v5.1.0.7
Yes, I don't think it's lag, but rather that the sensitivity is just messed up. I would check the corn thread, as others may have had this reported.

Are you interested in going into clockwork mod to try and see if you can re create the issue? I'm curious to know if it's just my phone + tweaks/setup...
I can agree, at the moment I want a stable phone, I use my phone too often for school and stuff to be worrying about errors, besides finals week is next week for me so i need less distractions... I'll wait till I see a smaller bug's list on the ICS rom threads. I want to try it out, but i'm gonna wait.
I don't seem to be getting any lag after setting that tweak. I also have my LMK set at 78, but my governor is set to ondemandb because I found that smartassv2 would be slow to wake up from sleep and ramp up the processor.
Hmmm.. That's interesting.. I wonder what was causing my issue then. I'll try some of the other sensitivity settings later today when i have more free time.
I also tried changing the init.rc tweaks to the system corps tweaks and i got a similar lag which was immediately fixed by switching to no tweaks... I wonder what I'm missing here... If i don't have, any of these tweaks on my captivate is super smooth
Thanks for all your help!
At the moment i seem to be good at finding problems... As time goes i should get better at fixing them on my own and then i wont post silly questions.
Again thanks.

Sent from my CM9 ICS i897 Captivate
I wasn't using both at the same time, i used them separately. I'm just going leave it be for awhile i think. I'm so happy that it's running so smooth compared to before it was rooted and de bloated.
I'm probably just gonna wait till ice cream sandwich is more stable, or i have a new phone, then I'll mess with that.
Maybe I'll just wait till the galaxy S III. Anybody else excited for the possibilities of this new phone coming up? I guess that would be something for the questions forum though.
If you've got the time, can anybody give a brief description of what these init.rc tweaks are supposed to do as a whole? I read the system changes of each in cwm, but I'm not sure exactly what they do. It's fine if you don't answer, i know it would be a long post, i just wasn't able to find an explanation. I'll thank you if you do give a good explanation though.

ICS is pretty darn stable. It's been that way for months almost. Anyway, I can't really describe exactly what the tweaks do, but I know that http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1556013 uses some of those tweaks and explains it sufficiently.

No, i just now found out about thunderbolt...
I'm pretty stock, i'm on RFS, legend 3.7, corn 7.06, the only tweaks I've kept were the LMK and changing the I/O scheduler and governor.
Thanks again for all your input, i'll hit the thanks button for you guys. You're great for helping a beginner learn for the first time.
I have Thunderbolt tweaks in my ICS ROM. Not sure if they help. AOKP and kernel developers added their own support of these tweaks thru ROMControl, NSTools and Semaphore app. SQLite rebuilder is nice I guess. Zipalign is useless - all apps already zipaligned.

you got me excited
hey man, this isnt gonna work at 1.3 ghz... its gonna crash for alot of us. my phone can run 1.15 semi-stable, 1.1 would be safe for everyone. this processor is extremely sensitive and cant handle speeds like that.
excited for the rom though, thanks for contributing
**** mine never even handled 1.1. would always do the 1 buzz followed by 3 and i would be forced to wipe my entire phone afterwards. god the SK4g is such a piece of ****. anyways, i'll test this out if i get around to it, probably wont be until next monday though. hopefully tis up and running by then.
I second that. Please remove the overclock for the sake of compatibility. On my device, I have never found any kind of stable overclock.
I also appreciate that you have used an accurate version number--that properly indicates the state of the software. Thank you. Little things go a long way.
also do u have a list of apps that have been added and or removed?
I guess I'm one of the lucky ones because i can go to 1.3 stable, but the loss in battery life just isnt worth the increase in speed. I say you should remove the overclock and just put in the description [OVERCLOCKABLE].

How about make two versions? An OC'd one and a non-OC'd one? I would definitely like to see how this thing runs with that (I usually OC to 1.2, and too lazy to actually do it when it would be helpful...)
EDIT: Just tried 1.3, about 5 seconds after setting it phone did the FC vibrate pattern, then stopped responding... maybe 1.3 is a bit drastic?

ive been able to overclock to 1.3 semi stable, with a slight voltage increase ive gone over an hour at 1.312. the problem is that the battery does drain like crazy. and it is susceptible to issues. the performance gains arent 30 percent so it isnt worth it, but if it remained stable id use it.
Chill out everyone. Its just OCable to 1.3ghz. Its set to default 600-800mhz screen wake and 200-400mhz screen sleep. My script handles the freqs of the cpu. However if a user chooses to use any overclock app or widget it will disable my script and no help will be given if someone has issues. It will show in the logcat if my script was disabled.

where do you live? Its crazy how people spend whole weeks at disneyland and may never go back again. As a southern californian, I think we kind of take it for granted haha.
Back on topic, I'll definitely be able to test this out when its ready.
