Hi all,
HTC virgin here - upgrading from an iPhone 3G S to the HTC Sensation in a couple of weeks, after four years of being an iFag.
Great site here, loads of info, as soon as I get it I'll be S-OFFing and flashing Revolution HD 3.1.0
I'm keeping an eye on the camera mod too - the video quality improvement is looking good, I'm hoping future versions will also reduce the compression in still images too.
Thanks for all the great info on here!
Hey what's up, buddy? Welcome to XDA.
I see that you have been reading some info already but make sure to read the guides that are all around the HTC Sensation forum before messing with your phone and you won't have any major problems.
Hope you have fun with your new toy
[mod edit] I love cats!

bahahaha... it's amazing how many previous iPhoners end up on Android Phones... :-D
I went from the cryphone to a mytouch 3g and haven't looked back!
Welcome to Android, welcome to HTC, welcome to XDA and most importantly welcome to endless development freedom :-D
Cheers for (most of) the welcomes
I never think of any post saying hello to fellow enthuiasts as a useless thread, but everyone's entitled to an opinion.
I've been jailbreaking iPhones since firmware 2.0 up to iOS5 so I'm well aware of the risks, especially as Andriods don't seem to have a DFU mode... which any iFag knows means "Damn, F***ed Up"!
Once you start flashing custom roms you'll never go back

Hey guys, this is my first android device, but I do have some experience with software development. Is there anyone who could post some guides, tutorials, links, or downloads on developing for this phone? I believe that we could have a lot more material if we have more competent developers, so please help out. I will update the OP to include provided links or downloads.

I'm in the same position as you guys and asked the same question a few days ago. One of the rom devs who just got an Infuse not too long ago linked me to this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928955

Welcome to Android and goodluck with your InFuSe!
I myself was always a Windows Mobile guy up until almost 3 years ago when i got my 1st Android device, an HTC Supersonic aka EVO 4G. Since then its been down hill, very similar to a bad bad Crack addiction, with ROM Flashing as my temporary fixxx.
I like my InFuSe(s), hopefully one day i'll love my InFuSe(s). My only complaint is that it is too new and there is too little going on with the device. Thank god my HTC Desire HD aka Inspire 4G keeps me on my feet and flash-happy, but instantly i miss that HUGE Super AMOLED Plus display and must go back to a bone-stock device.
I bought a 2nd InFuSe to have as a side by side testing device and / or to donate to the right MIUI dev to get us on the MIUI boat and later found out that we need to get CyanogenMod going before we have a chance at MIUI...
Again, good luck with your InFuSe and with Android. I have a lil sayin: "Don't worry, your not gonna break it unless you throw it, frustration is a bicht!"
You should totally think more about donating your extra infuse to a cyanogen mod dev so we can get that ball rolling. That would definitely get some more stuff going on with this phone.

someone tell me what is so special about this looks like all the other roms for gb
CM is basically vanilla Android with feature enhancements and higher amounts of customization throughout the system.
It's not really for people looking for effects and bling like what Sense is. It's more for people that are into getting straight to the point and customizing the phone to their exact needs.
Did he say 'unofficial CM build' at the end, at about 1:55? I thought this was official...?

What does he mean in the video when he says hardware accelerated video when referring to youtube videos?
What would hardware accelerated youtube videos look like?
For me, I find all the Sense widgets to be useless. At first, they are neat. Later, when my phone begins to slow down, I get to asking myself "dual cores, 1.2Ghz and I see lag!?".
Speed comes first, in my book. Then come all the neat features. I have yet to try CM, but I hear so much that I will flash it as my first ROM ever. If I dont like it, I will just stick with stock.

OK I was trying to take it easy on you and politely tell you that the answer you seek can be found in the thread for the ROM. But seeing your response has changed my mind.
First off it would be one thing if you posted something like the following.

This person has a right to start a thread asking a question.
But you on the other hand are saying this.
I know exactly where to get the answer to my question, and I know that I do not need to start a thread asking others for the answers. But I do not care I am going to do it anyway.

Now do you see why I posted the statement in my first post. Is taking the time to have a good read through the thread so hard. I think not, if people would take the time to actually do proper searching and reading here on XDA instead of posting unneeded and useless threads and posts asking questions that have already been answered numerous times. XDA would not be so cluttered, less clutter equals better user experience on XDA. I will leave you with one final though

Yeah - I've had a few different devices and been in a few diffeernt XDA forums and his one is pretty good.
We can thank developers like utkaar099, turge, scrosler, bpbear and rohan (amongst others) for taking the time to provide excellent support for the roms they create. Guys like exad and redpoint73 are also very patient and helpful in spreading their knowledge and advice.
Enjoy it while it lasts though - I think we might lose a few to the HTC One......

OK I am having Happy Gilmore flashbacks. "I AM GOOD! You know what? You're a lousy kindergarten teacher! I seen those finger paintings you bring home and they SUCK!"
Alright seriously though, I have only kicked around the HP Touchpad and HOX xda forums and both of them are great. The TP dev'ing is slowing down just because its an older device but the thing didn't even come with Android so its a miracle that they even got it up and running. The fact that CM10.1 is currently semi usable is amazing.
For the HOX dev folk, its great(er). I have people ask me all the time what handy dandy new phone they should get but I keep telling them to get a last gen phone and come to XDA like I do. The HOX devs pump out so many great rom choices that can be used as (and are in my case) daily drivers. Sure I bounce around a bit but thats because I'm an unrepentant flash whore. With the inclusion of pie controls, ribbons and most recently HALO, the amount of customization is... alright I ran out of adjectives. Suffice it to say, THANK YOU dev community!
I can beat you all. I came from the htc vivid forums. Nuff said lol
