Strange issue all of a sudden. - HTC Sensation

Phone was fine running InsertCoin 2.2.0 and I wanted to try another ROM so I did the usual wipes and flashed it and on reboot, it just sits at the HTC screen till I yank the battery. It does this with every single ROM I try to flash now. It won't boot anything except my Nandroid back up. I haven't changed anything recently besides the SD card. CWM Recovery is 5.0.2.0. Bootloader is S-Off, rooted... Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Flashing official RUU often solves such problems
Power+Vol Down to inter bootloader, then power again>> fastboot , plug usb cable ,then run the RUU.exe

U sure ur not trynna flash updates instead of whole roms? Just a guess here
I seen some roms where u have to flash, say, 4.2 first, before flashing 4.3 and then 4.4 on top.

gf7800 , I flashed the official RUU to return to stock and it still won't boot anything. I tried on about 4 different ROMs and all got the same result.

I am assuming of course you didn't check the MD5 hash that came with the rom to ensure you didnt flash a corrupt file?

you flashed the RUU with the new sd card? Did you s-off and root since doing so? Does it boot after flashing the RUU? What RUU are you flashing?
edit nvmnd, I re read the thread.

which rom did you tried to flash to ?

I tried ARHD, InsertCoin, Senseless Extreme and another one. I managed to get the latest InsertCoin to work. It's weird. It's like every one out of five times I try to flash something, it works.

flash the correct ruu for your phone

Flashed the correct RUU. I'm assuming so anyway. It's a Bell Sensation and I flashed the RUU that had BM (short for Bell Mobility?) in the file name.

TMOUSA Sensation 4G help

Alright guys I got s-off and thats about it. I want ics on my phone but once I update to the nnewest firmware and flash an ics rom it stays stuck on white HTC screen. I've had to use RUU twice because I can't load a recovery without updating firmware and once i do that my phone does not boot. Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to get ics on my sensation 4g?
Make sure you get SuperCID so the firmware update goes through. If you don't have SuperCID then it can look like it updated but it actually fails.
Once you get the firmware flashed properly, you have to delete or rename the firmware zip from your SD card so that you can access recovery.

I did that. super cid to 11111111 and to the latest firmware even tried it with the patch. I am able to go into recovery but everytime I flash any rom it stays stuck on the white HTC screen after I boot it up.
Sounds like you might be one of those unlucky users. Have you tried this guide? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1542555

The steps I used are...flash firmware 3.32 ,then superwipe( very important if coming from GB, then Rom this has seemed to work for me..
Also did you do a MD5 to check the file of the Rom to make sure it was the same?

The problem with this might be which version of htc sense was cooked into the Rom you are using. If you are using a android 4.0.3 rom with sense 3.5 then you need firmware package 3.12 because sense 3.5 needs HBOOT 1.23, and sense 3.6 needs HBOOT 1.27 so you would use the 3.24, 3.30, 3.32 but again it all depends on what the chef has built from if the chef used a 3.5 sense in the rom then that might be your issue.
If not try to just start over, completely format your sd card, then put your rom, supersipe, and firmware on sd card.
1. install firmware from recovery once installed pull battery out and remove sd to take off the firmware file,
2. reinstall sd card, boot phone into recovery- go to install from zip and run the superwipe script once it finishes it will reboot into recovery.
3. then install the rom of your choosing and see if that works.
I use the energy rom series and flashed over from GB using the instructions i found in that forum, it does get confusing if you have not do it a million times....hope this helps ICS is awesome...
I want to super wipe but I'm not sure which one to download. Also guys, I'm on stock tmobile usa rom. No custom rom

Stock is not needed.
You need to ensure that F/W and ROM are compatible. I.e. ICS 1.27.xxxx F/W WILL NOT work with a GB ROM, and GB 1.17.xxxx WILL NOT work with ICS.
Flash the F/W, if not already done. Can't remember what you are on.
SuperWipe (from Mike's ARHD thread).
Flash your chosen ICS ROM.
Pop out the SD card, reboot insert and then delete the PG58IMG.zip ONLY if you flashed the F/W.
Deep joy.

What Rom do u plan on using...if I knew that I could tell you exactly what firmware to flash, it dosent matter that u flash firmware over stock rom, but if the firmware isn't compatible then the phone won't boot up...

[Q] Please help me fix my sensation xe!

Hi, firstly I apologise for being an idiot.
I rooted my XE last week and have been trying to install ROMs onto it since. I followed numerous guides (not very well apparently) and still cannot get it to work. The problem being every ROM i try to flash after it has installed, during the reboot the white htc screen comes up over and over again.
I've tried numerous ROMs, stock ROMs and nothing has worked. I tried to locate the original backup I made but it seems to be gone too
Any help would be appreciated, otherwise I've blown a couple of hundred quid.
Do you know how to run a log cat and post the results as this would help people help you better. But then again there is always the option to just download the correct RUU for your Sensation, flash the stock ROM with it, and then start all over.

What / how would I start all over if I had the correct RUU and ROM (both of which I think I have). The RUU is an exe file? Is that correct and the ROM I just put on the root of my SD?
Grrrrr. I feel very stupid, usually nae bad at techy stuff!
Yes the RUU is a .exe file that will flash the stock ROM to your Sensation, notice I said stock ROM wich means you will not be rooted anymore, you will have the stock recovery again, and you will more than likely be S-on again. This is why I said you would have to start over again if you use the RUU.
The ROM does go on your SD card but if it is a stock ROM you will have to have the stock recovery to flash it, if it is a custom ROM you will have to have S-off and a custom recovery.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it is! PG58IMG?
When I run the RUU it comes up with current image version: 1.73.401.2
Then when it goes to update the ROM it comes up saying unknown error 155, wrong RUU???
It sounds like you may have the wrong RUU, who is your carrier and what is the region did your Sensation originate from. This is the information you need to get your correct RUU.

It is unlocked from the UK, probably 02 but unlocked as I said, using an orange sim. Where could I find this info?

Ok if it is from the UK you probably need the "RUU_Pyramid_O2_UK_1.34.206.1_Radio_10.43a.9007.00U_10.51.9007.27_M", you can find it here. Remeber you will have to have the HTC Sync drivers installed on your computer, and you will have to boot into the Hboot then the bootloader and connect your Sensation via USB to your computer before running the RUU.

CM 10 jelly bean HBOOT to RUU

Hi
I'm in some sort of a probleme here...
I flash CM10 for the Ville by xkonni & intervigil everything went good ... Than I tried to go back to my nandroid backup that I did before but them the phone would be stuck a the htc one s and beats logo. I somehow manage to get almost everyting to work but , even with the bootloader re-lock and the original rom and file from my nandroid I cant restore everything using the RUU from my phone ( Rogers/fido ) . The thing is, if I look in the log from the RUU install it says : remote: 44 hboot version check fail
Any clue how to restore the original HBOOT ?
!!!!
U need use adb and flash the stock boot.img

That does not change the HBOOT I look at that solution
I don't think you can do anything to the hboot w/o s-off
hboot and boot.img not the same
So, I doubt CM10 would have messed with it
But, it is very experimental--I have been doing this a long time and wouldn't touch CM10 yet--you are braver than me--
Did you wipe ALL including System 2 to 3x before trying nandroid--System would have to be wiped in this case or issues highly likely

Is there a technical explanation for the reasons multiple wipes will accomplish more than a single wipe?
In normal cases only official stock HTC RUU's will change your hboot/bootloader. So flash the appropriate RUU with the hboot you had before, first. If you was on software base 1.78 for example, flash the 1.78 RUU and you will have the right hboot.

This is the log from the RUU.
<T212848><DEBUG><OUT>INFOchecking hboot version...</OUT>
</DEBUG></T212848>
<T212848><DEBUG><OUT>FAILED (remote: 44 hboot version check fail)</OUT>
</DEBUG></T212848>
The orignal Hboot from my provider is 1.08 ( And RUU)
but I check in the rom that I use to flash CM 10 and I cant see any trace of a new HBOOT
so... Where did I get hupdated from 1.08 to 1.13 ?
Because as far as system partition is concerned the wipe does not totally get rid of all files and some stuff can be left behind. Also, installing the new Rom may not overwrite all of the partition. It can cause issues with the new Rom running well. With my N1 even some devs recommended 3 to 4 wipes. System wipe is recommended if going to different Rom or changing basebands. Definitely with coming from CM to Sense.
wiping or formatting a partition multiple times and getting any benefit from that sounds like urban legend
I've seen it recommended by numerous people but there's not any reason to think wiping a partition two times or three times is going to be more effective than one time.
Although if there's a technical explanation I'll hear it out...but stating that formatting a partition one time simply doesn't get it all gone or someone heard it from somewhere else doesn't suffice as enough evidence for me.

[Q] Can Anyone please help..Wifi error on HTC Sensation

please help me I have HTC Sensation Z710e
I used to have the 3.33 version software and Hboot 1.27.1111, so I used the Juopnetbear method for S-OFF
Here's a link to it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614617
I did the htcdev method to unlock the bootloader and it worked flawlessly(the device had no errors after reboot)
But when I flashed 3.32 stock ROM(which is required for the control bear method to work), there was a Wifi error . I thought this was a temporary glitch and it will go away after I install another ROM..
So I proceeded to S-OFF using the wire trick
Now when I installed a custom ROM it read Wifi error...
I looked into many posts and tried different methods but nothing worked..
PLEASE SAVE ME!!!
CUSTOM ROM is Ordroid V9.0.0

maybe in your case is unecessary but it worths the try
flash the boot.img of the rom manually
see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861 (only extra 1 step) or
do a full wipe and reflash the rom
Reflashing is maybe the only thing you could do
Or try flashing the radio
I did that and it didn't work however I flashed a different ROM (HyperNonSense) and now it's working
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda app-developers app
How exactly do I flash the radio?sorry for all the questions..I did find a ROM that solved the problem and I noticed that it had a stock kernel..does that mean that I can never flash a ROM with a custom kernel? WTF to that:banghead:
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda app-developers app
You can flash a matching kernel if your So Off. And you can flash a radio if your S off. Here is how. This is how I flash my radio. The radio file is a pg58img file. It must continue to be named pg58img, nothing added to the name. Place the pg58img file at root of SD card. Do this by coping the file from your computer to your device. Then once file is placed on root of SD card pull battery, put battery back in, press volume down and power, the device will recognise the file and ask to update, power for yes. Once the update is finished you MUST remove the pg58img file from root of SD card or when in bootloader the device will continue to try to update over and over and over. So make sure to delete the pg58img file when finished. That's it. That's how you update the radio. I suggest you read on the radio site how to update because if your unsure of any steps you can brick your device. So I'm going to attach a link for updating radio. There are a couple ways to do it. I think this way is easiest. But do read the directions so everything is clearly understood. Hope this helps you. Here is the radio link with instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1202867
