I had this problem and after many hours of messing with my phone I figured this out. I downloaded setcpu. Set the gov to on demand. Go to profile and set a profile for screen off. Max frequency to about 692 and Min frequency to 128. Now this may or may not work for you. It worked for me everytime.

level 2= 400 - 1000 - 1000

Make sure scaling is set to ondemand and set on boot is selected.
Then press Tweaks and make sure Io scheduler is set to deadline and
tweaks on boot is selected.
I got these settings from the thread linked below. (THANKS)
I have been using these settings for a few months with adrenaline shot on many different ROMS and I get at least 2 days battery life with regular use and my quad scores are 3000+. Phone never reboots, freezes, or gets hot.
I cant guarantee you will all have the same results but it mite be worth a try.

Just a quick note, be sure you test these settings out before you select set on boot or you may have some issues. Every phone is slightly different in its own way and these undervolt settings may be too low and cause instability. I've personally had to increase these voltages slightly (in the past) for stability reasons.
If you guys want to save some time and effort download my attachment, unzip it, then place it inside tegrak/overclock on your SD. Itll be loaded then into your profiles on tegrak, just select it from the list and whamo, 1.2ghz oc with undervolt settings.

Okay, now I built a kernel and shared it, people are asking me to add things.
First up, should I add BLD?
Vote above!
Build it to your standards once done than you can start adding stuff that users may ask and see how it rides out
Agreed. Stability is top priority then start adding little features. I use BLD on Matr1x V22 bfs but I could live without it. I am going to try yours out soon since V1 is out. Congrats.

I do feel a little bit like if hundreds of people are downloading it, then it's become something more than a personal project.... But then, maybe people are intrested by something a little more stripped out?

That's true. It's out there and a lot of people are going to try it. If something is highly requested than you should consider it. This is young still but it is already growing beyond your personal kernel project. Thalamus and others don't always add things just because people like it. Stay true to what you want... Actually I find bld one of the more useful features, but I don't know how much extra work it is and how it affects stability. I remember Franco being opposed to it on stability grounds.

Oh yeah, i remember that too. Bld isn't much work to add though. But i want to keep non critical mods to a minimum.
I'd say it'll never end. You'll add BLD, then someone would want this, after some bickering you'll add it and soon as you'll notice, your kernel is going to be bloated same as the others :]
I actually run 0.6, would flash 0.7 or newer if I oc'd or ever used other governors then ondemand , but it's running so perfectly and smooth as CM9 kernel never did + it has MTP, so I don't want to ruin that experience.
Stability comes first & If BLD affects performance por stability-then No..(I dunno about BLD has some side-effects)
You are an expert, Just stick ur principle..
Sent from my Nexus S using xda app-developers app
These are my two cents:
Most installed ROMs are either AOKP, CM9, RASCREAM.
AOKP offers softkey navigation bar ala Galaxy nexus. Some peeps may like it and therefore may want BLD to cancel off the default nav buttons on our nexus S.
I use a variation of AOKP and turned to morfic kernel because of bld, I personally don't use the softkey mod on the ROM but I use BLD to reduce to only half a second for my nav buttons lights to stay on and use LMT launcher to access my menus (this app is pretty handy since it overlays on the side of your phones making your thumb more efficient and fast).... If you have not heard of this app it is here on xda.
That's basically my main use for BLD and the fact I'm actually saving a little more battery. Imagine the fact I'm browsing the web, reading articles and whatnot for two hours straight (I have) the fact I can disable the lights with BLD may indeed save some more juice to our batteries.

Stick with stability, like others have said. You could always do what TerryHau did with his kernel. Have one with some features and the other with those features and a few others added on. Either way, it's your work, dude. Do what you wanna do!
Bedalus question for you: is bld something that can make a kernel instable?
Others have it and they work just fine.

Well Franco said it made things unstable, but i don't think it would with my kernel. It might have been incompatible with some of Franco's tweaks.
