Ok guys as this is more of a theming issue then anything else, I posted it here.
Here is what I would like.
1. A Screen shot of anyone that gets one bar on H+
Why you ask. Well with all the issues and posts popping up about "What roms will get me H+/4G" or "I only have the H but getting great speeds" threads I am on a quest to prove once and for all that the icons the end user sees dont mean squat!!!! Working on roms and themes I (and anyone else that ever made a theme/rom) noticed that the icons for the signal bars go in order of 0,2,3,4,5 For the stock ATT rom with the H+ icon. Notice something?..........Yup there is no icon for 1 bar, Now we compare this to the Icons for the HD on a stock rom. Icons order of 0,1,2,3,4 with the H icon. Now notice the proper order. The H+ icon (graphics) was changed to just an H. It was only a graphics change. Anyone want a 10G icon lmao but I hope you see the point.
So I have asked a few people to see if they could get em a SS of a single bar while connected to H+ and we all have failed to ever see it. Now I ask the threads as I just may not be in that bad of an area to ever get just one bar. Alaska go figure lol.
There is no Magic about connecting to ATT 4g (and I say this very loosely as 4G really doesnt mean alot right now with out a set standard for 4G) If you have an Inspire and the area supports the speeds then it will not matter WTH the icon says. Me personally, I am looking for a way to remove the signal icons all together as If I wanted to know how good my signal is I have an app to tell me with a handy small widget for fast look refs.
So please I ask For a SS to find this bar, and put this to rest.
Think I am wrong, Please show me.
I will post one tomorrow. I already left work. I have an area at my job where I consistently get one bar with the H+ icon. Despite the one bar, data still flies when I see this. I don't believe there is a connection with the bars and the H+ icon.

Bingo!! I am in an area where I usually get fluctuations from one bar to five bars with cellular signal with constant data speeds.

Perfect. What ROM are you on? Is it stock, have you flashed any theme mods?

Stock rooted. No mods. I also saw this when I was stock Froyo, rooted and unrooted. Typically, the areas I see this is areas where there is some interference with the cellular signal, causing fluctuations. Data is rarely affected. In fact, I was zipping along on data when I noticed the signal and caught that screen shot.

Thank you. I will look over the files. I think I know what is going on I just need to decompile them and see what happens. I will update soon. The images are all the same in both the stock inspire and the stock DHD. Both apks contain all the signal bars needed for ATT, tmobile, CDMA techs so it is just a matter of it calling the wrong image.
any progress on this>?

i dont have a problem with battery life but like the girl said true LTE phone . let me know when you exceed 4mbps down and 300kbps up
I got a 28.94 down, 35.48 up speed test when I was in Manhattan 2 days ago
I actually would have kept the atrix if i could even get 3g speeds.
I never broke 1.5 MB down...
And I live in Phoenix AZ!!
Oh , it also sucks for coverage - I would drive 10 miles out of city limits and go from 4 bars to NOTHING.
Verizon has a fantastic network - but the Atrix is the best phone i have ever had...
I returned the atrix for the thunderbolt..
I'm a long time verizon customer.. the AT&T network was too hit or miss, the phone had bugs.
it was faster, but I don't have verizon 4g coverage here yet in milwaukee. I'm sure that'll change and I can't wait
battery life, the atrix was better, but it had a 1900mah battery.. the tbolt has 1400 and a much larger screen.. i'm scared to see how it gets when I start beating on 4g... I can barely keep it to sustain a change while on the charger using mobile hot-spot.
The consumer is the only one that loses here

Nah - the upload speed is probably wrong due to the TB's huge upload buffer. It's a known issue that upload speeds aren't going to be correct using the SpeedTest app.
But no buffer in the world can improve download speeds, and I more care about that.
the download speed is borked as well, reads too low.

4Mb/s? You can get that with a standard flip phone. Now 4MB/s is a different story.
Either way, the atrix isnt really 4g, and it has a locked bootloader. Good luck, the tbolt also has more dev support and its only been out for one week today. How bout that? Those are the things that really matter. They are both great phones.

yeah it's a widespread known issue.
After swapping out a NS4G with issues my new one is a champ. Pulling in better speeds than the first one and is at least on par with the EVO for me.
Everyone loves dual core and all, but when I'm eatin Ice Cream and others are still waiting for cookies I'll be a happy guy.

Again Fixxer enough is enough man. Not everyone suffers the issues, none of us know why, but that is how it is. Stop bashing Samsung, and stop overtaking topics at every single forum you possibly can. Just drop it.. You have been flooding Android Central, Sprint community and this. You are bashing Samsung with incorrect info, and then bashing Google. You obviously don't know..

Not every phone has the issue. Since I went from about 20-50kbps on the old one to 450-1100kbps (3G) on the new one.......I'm pretty confident in my claim.
Pulled down 13Mbps on 4G today as well. I'm also seeing steady wifi signal readings vs the first one which was all over the place.
Nice try, though.
Those numbers using multiple speedtests and Speakeasy.net and also in the same house and at work.

All it takes is one ignorant person to make people believe something. Despite what basically one person advocates, reception and data speeds are NOT horrible. Sprint employees will tell u anything. If anything....it's the network itself not the phone.

It's showing you have no bars for 4G? So i'm guessing the signal you have to the 4G tower is weak. Try getting closer, and post results. Just as Wi-Fi, Wimax will lower speeds as signal lowers. Wi-Fi runs at 2.4ghz and Wimax is at 2.5ghz, and both of those will suffer when your losing decibels and RSSI to that signal.

Umm no he wasn't lied to.. Sprint is getting direct information from Google and Samsung. As in the topic posted below showing a Google employee helping with the issue, and now listing it later on it that topic as reported to the dev team and that they are working on a fix. Sprint has never once released any sort of press release on any device concerning issues. Sure didn't with all the EVO problems.

I also get 232 down/112 up on 3G with one bar.
So a lot of people have been PM'ing me in regards to this matter.
There are also a couple of threads lingering around in the General section on both the t-mobile and skyrocket forums which brush on the topic but don't really go into the details.
I decided to post this here as a MOD.
Yes the Skyrocket will support HSPA+/3g on T-mobiles network. How do I know this? I had one and was using it on t-mobile with no problem.
There are a couple radios you can flash to get HSPA+ on the skyrocket:
T-mobile SGH-T989 KID: http://minus.com/mlupRDTvJ#1
T-mobile SGH-T989 VK1: http://minus.com/mlupRDTvJ#4
Telus KJ3: http://minus.com/mlupRDTvJ#2
Here is the Stock Skyrocket radio: http://minus.com/mlupRDTvJ#3
Depending on where you are located/what bands your operator uses I would assume one of these radios would work better than the other.
On a side note a lot of people have just "claimed" that the skyrocket doesn't pick up hspa+. This is not true, it does but you will have to figure out the right ROM/Kernel/Radio combination. I experienced intermittent connectivity on certain skyrocket kernels while running a T-mobile radio etc. Either way I ALWAYS had the ability to connect to hspa+. Most often I would get speeds of between 3-7mbps. I personally used VK1.
When it comes down to the bottom line though, the skyrocket is essentially the same device as the galaxy s2 but with LTE.
IF this helped please hit the thanks button!
I am also using my skyrocket on T-Mobile. I have Juggernaut/Faux 009/VKL1 combo. So far it has been the best combo for me where I get 3-7mbps. The only problem I have it slow upload speeds. Not just for this combo but for all the combos i tried. I am only getting 50-100kbps upload speeds. Any idea why?
*just a heads up, multiupload has been down for weeks already, might wantto change the download links.

i777 have completely different hardware.
But, what you need exactly (ROM, baseband) and why you need it?
if you need your i777 work better on t-mo network, try flash i9100 modems, may be it'll help.
If there will be problems, you may flash back i777 modem
PS: do not forget to make nandroid backup before flashing

Does anyone know if the AT&T Galaxy Note ROMs can be flashed on our phone? The Bell Galaxy Note (also LTE) comes with AWS HSPA+ and LTE out of the box... if it also has the MDM9200 chip and if the radios could be flashed on our phones, this could enable LTE, AT&T 3G, and AWS HSPA all at the same time!
I would assume not due to the resolution etc but the radios....quite possible they could

can you share your combo? i would love to try what you have.
"I looked into the situation on this and I can verify that there is not a native way to disable LTE on the AT&T version of the One X. While we don't normally recommend this, you may want to check the Play store to see if there's an app that will give you this functionality. Please be aware that if you run into any concerns through the use of such software we can certainly try and offer assistance, but the use of such an app is at your sole discretion. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns, and thanks for being a member of the HTC community!"
If enough people report this or ask about this. I am hopeful that they'll add LTE toggle natively in the interface.
They could add a toggle, but....I don't think it would work.
I'm pretty sure that AT&T, whether it be in ther SIMS, or just over the network, force the phones to allow LTE. I don't think that I have even been able to disable 3G on an AT&T device since my Moto Backflip. Ha, if I even could on there. (Though technically, the Backflip was my second device...Aria was the first and I broke it thus had to downgrade
tl;dr The problem is AT&T, not software. Custom ROMs with LTE toggles would have the same issue so I can't see how HTC would be able to fix it either
Someone correct me if I'm an idiot
You can toggle off 3G on the AT&T iPhones. Looks like AT&T just has HTC by the balls (pardon my French). Locked bootloader, presumed kernel release delay....
I'd love to be able to turn off LTE when I don't need it. HSPDA is plenty fast to check email and forums (and way better on the battery).

here you go: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27697880&postcount=1
also if you use ASIA 1.88 the option is also there. with the auto switch. so its ATT being douches
its actually pretty simple why ATT wants to force LTE when they can, it simply means you'll use more data, and the more data you use, the more money they make.
Here's just an example, you open a 10 minute youtube video with 3g, you watch maybe 30 seconds and decide not to watch anymore. You may have downloaded 1-2 minutes worth of streaming data, where as with LTE, in that same 30 seconds, you could have downloaded the entire 10 minutes, thus causing more data usage.
that menu from the gsm hack doesnt work though. or it never worked for me anyway. no matter what option I picked it would just go back to the default
It probably built into at&t kernal to not allow it, in did notice with 1.88 kernal you could.

AT&T is the one that is requesting that feature to be disabled because if you flash my hotspot hack, it will enable the feature

Did you read the link I posted ??
It clearly says that you have an odex and deodex'd version
" I included odex'd and deodex'd version with revert versions just in case anymore wants to remove this mod."

Now the big question is, how much better is your battery life when you turn off LTE?
Can anyone safely notice an increase that isn't placebo?
Care to test formally, anyone?
You can disable LTE by adding a new APN which uses wap.cingular. This does work on att without any problems. You can find the APN settings here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1675879&highlight=cingular+apn
It does make a noticeable difference in battery life, too.
Does anyone know if you can talk and surf on the internet at the same time? I know you could on the Note 2 but not the Note 5.
Not until there is volte

Its a mystery. They told me managers bring it up in thier meetings. But not sure why the wait.
Probably going to be a while. I'm on the Samsung Galaxy S5, one of the first phone with volte. It's been over 2 years and still we don't have it yet.

This was the one thing I disliked when leaving verizon 2 years ago.. I had it on my S3, came to Sprint on the Note 4 and none. I was a little pissed, but they kept saying it was coming and here we are.

That's Sprint's usual answer to missing features - "it will roll out soon."
If you are having network or signal issues, it's always, "We were working on towers in your area".

True at least my bill is smaller than with Verizon. Network has been decent too.
They let it be known early they were doing the complete lte roll out.... and when that was complete they would go back and add the volte ...

Sprint would always tell me I should be getting LTE and I never did. Then, I got my Note 7 and my area is covered in LTE. It's just my old device (One m7) didn't receive all the available LTE bands. The network really has come a long way.

Well at least it's better now.
If you have Google Voice, Hangouts Dialer installed and don't mind calling people from your Google Voice number you now have a temporary work around

I just came from a Note 3 that still does Talk & Surf. Took it for granted until yesterday. The only tricky part is being consistent using the Dialer once Google Voice is set up. Hope this helps although I'd prefer to have what Verizon has already without any workarounds..

I came from the Note 3 as well. I thought there was something wrong with my Note 7 until I saw this thread. That sucks.

It does. It's mind blowing how they make new phones & leave out the best parts of the previous. Wifi calling and the Voice record app is gone too. They have a recorder Within Samsung Notes but not the same. Even the Edge had the version that can type what you say. Handy for musicians or taking notes.. Patiently waiting for root, ad blocker and Exposed would be the ****
