The default photo album for the gallery widget was "Camera Shots." A couple of weeks back I changed it to another photo album for the gallery widget. I forgot how to change it. Does anyone have an idea? Thanks.

Go to settings, applications- then go to camera shots. There should be a button near the bottom labeled clear defaults.
Now go back to camera shots and the app should ask you for a gallery at that point to set as a new default.
You are looking to change the default gallery correct?

Well you are looking to change a setting in your applications right? Go to manage applications. Scroll down to the app in question. Another screen should come up with two buttons on top one in the middle and the "clear defaults" button should be close to the bottom-you may need to scroll down a bit.

Ok then go to the other app you are currently using as your 'default' gallery. Clear out that app's defaults as well.

I'm probably missing something dumb, because this seems like a basic thing, and I'm not finding it when searching on Google or XDA.
In CM 11, I could long press on a picture in the messaging application, and get an option to save or export to SD card/internal storage. On CM 12 messaging, I do not get any menu when long pressing.
When I click on a picture it opens in the gallery app, where I have an option to set as wallpaper or print, but still no option to save to SD/internal storage.
If MMS come in as a gallery, I can save those. But I can't figure it out for an individual image.
bump
I'm wondering the same thing to
I use hangouts app do you use the native messaging app or hangouts?
theres no option to share?
try clearing .nomedia files from wherever and recycle the media engine through a reboot.
do you use quickpic? as a gallery app? ,thats how I got rid of all my problems sometimes the stock gallery app doesnt see the new images.

When hangouts first started to allow SMS integration, I didn't like the way it handled it, but they have changed the interface quite a bit. It does let me download messages, so I'll try it for a bit.
With Quickpic and the CM Messaging App I still don't get an option to save the files. When I click on a picture, it lets me open it in quickpic or any other registered image viewer, but they don't have download options, just 'set as. for wallpaper.'
Ideally I like the CM messaging app, and would like to use it. But too many family members can't be convinced to email me pictures at a higher quality, and instead want to send via MMS.
bump again.
I've been using hangouts, but I miss like the CM Messanger app better.
Thread necro because is three months later, and I still have to switch to hangouts in order to save the pictures people send via MMS.

Same problem for me. I don't think there's a way to do it, but if there is, I haven't found it. Been switching to Hangouts just to save as well, pain in the butt because CM is much better looking and smoother. Plus no resize issues without Xposed.
I just started taking screen shots as mms pics are low quality anyways, just a little hack you guys might want to try. Quicker than moving to hangouts.

I found the answer in a reddit thread > Can't save MMS pictures - CM12
"Long press in the text area of the photo. > three dots upper right hand corner. > save attachments. "
counterintuitive really.... but that's the way it seems to work
the attachment then appears in the usual "Download" folder
Thanx for that! Not exactly like that but I found it helpfull so: long press in the text area of the photo>three dots upper right hand corner>message details>tap on image>save.

All you need to do after tapping the three dots is tap save attachment. You are adding three extra steps doing it the way you say here.

Doesn't work for me. I long press on the text area of the photo, click the three dots, and my options are: Lock; Message Details; Select All. Any advice?
Like the OP, I can't convince my family members to email pictures. So I'd really like a working option for saving pictures in Messaging.
EDIT: This worked: Long press the area to the right or left of the picture>touch the 3 dots in the upper right hand corner ( not the menu button at the bottom, each has different options)>touch message details.

Thanks! This worked for me, also. I just use Messaging+ to save them, but like the default Messages more. Have been looking for days...
This is exactly how mined worked. Others didn't.
This post is kind of old but anyways I think this will be helpful for some people:
1. Keep pressed over the subject of the MMS and the options will appear.
2. Go to the options (three dots) and select "Message Details".
3. Select the picture you want to save.
4. Click "Save" and it will be saved into your "Downloads" folder.
You are welcome.

Now that Samsung in their INFINITE wisdom has taken out the menu button. Can someone confirm to me how to delete photos directly from Gallery? No.. not from File Manager or 3rd party software. Just the standard Gallery App that came default. If I wanted to go through my pictures and delete certain ones, then how? I can hold down on some pics and tag/select. There is a SHARE button on there but nothing else. No editing, No rotate option, no print, no move options. NOTHING.
REALLY unhappy about this.

When you tap and hold on the picture, above it shows three options SHARE, DELETE, MORE.
Also if you just tap and open the picture, on the bottom it shows more options as well.
This did not work. The only option I have is to share-not to delete. Very frustrating. Anybody know how??
What changes have you made to your phone. I never use the regular gallery but it is easy to use

What have you done to your phone since getting it? ROOT? Custom ROM? IF neither i'd factory reset as all those options are available on a normal S6. You can press delete on the little icon on the bottom of the picture or you can hold down on a pic and the delete option comes up.

Simply change the category top left from categories to anything else and your issue will be resolved. Not sure why delete is not an option when you are on categories.
Same problem here!!
And you press on Help, it says to tap on "delete" even though they should no there's no Delete!!! Only Favorite, Share and Editor....Very frustrating!
Do this
Close gallery then Access gallery from camera. Select camera. Then tap bottom right icon. Select album. Or gallery I think. All photos there with delete option
Deleting from Samsung Galaxy S6
Go to Gallery
In the top left hand corner it gives you options to change your gallery display to time, albums, events or categories
Tap Time
Then tap the image you want to delete
then tap the screen
there should be 4 icons on the bottom the fourth one should be delete.
Thanks! Changing from "Categories" to "Time" allowed me to delete the photos. When I was under "Categories", the delete option would not appear.

Go to setting. Application manager gallery clear cache force stop. It should go back to being able to delete photos.
Go to settings , storage, used space then select pictures and videos. Make sure you open with photos as you get all images. Have fun deleting

This app is used for two purposes:
1. You open a file and when you select an app it is automatically selected as the default app. You want that you must be presented with an app chooser every time you open that file. (This happens in Samsung S6 Marshmallow and might happen in other devices and ROMS).
2. You want the app chooser to pop up but you don't want to press the JUST ONCE button every time i.e you want to open desired app with single tap.
The solution to this is that you need to go and open the file as before, but instead of selecting the desired app you should select APP PICKER.
Then you will again be presented with a list of apps which can open that file. Now you can open that file with your desired app.
Next time you open the file, you will be presented with a list of apps which will also include the App Picker. Now you would not need to select app picker again.
Your problem should now be resolved, that (1) you will always be shown an app picker, and (2) you will not need to press JUST ONCE button.
I have tested this on various apps and 2 devices, but I will be happy to bring more updates if they are required.
Currently the app should work on following:
Text files
Images
Videos
Audio files
Other file types such as pdf, xlsx etc. (all types are impossible to test so please give feedback if something is not working)
Internet Browsers
Email Apps

It would be great to be able to select the apps that are suggested in the resolver list.
In addition, being able to do the same for the Share feature would be awesome! I know that several users (including myself) miss a xposed module that we used on KK.
In the custom Rom I'm using, the share feature already shows single tappable chooser so my app would essentially do the same thing. In fact I'm creating a chooser in this app in the way an app invokes its share function.
I didn't understand the first part of your comment though.

Oh i see, would it be possible to implement this, so it gives options for image selecting as there's a few image apps that I like to select images from sometimes. Annoying how the force the app you select to be the default one after.

This is how it works. Without app picker, you would select an app and it would automatically become the default and you will not get the popup next time. But now as you have selected app picker, the app picker is set to default and you will always see a choice of apps. You need to select app picker as default only once.

I disabled "Photos" and installed another gallery app but when I take a picture with camera and try to quickly view it it just defaults back to the camera app. I have to go to my app tray, load my gallery program and get into the photo folder to see the picture. As you can imagine this isn't the greatest workflow
I see nothing in the system settings for a default app for gallery and I've never been asked to select one. If I re-enable Photos... it goes right to that from the camera app.
I must be missing something very simple or there must be something wrong??!?!

When we click photos using our camera and click the pick icon it opens Google Photos. Is there any way to change it? To open that pic in other gallery?
You can try to go into the "app info" screen for the Photo's app and doing a "Clear Default".
But I'm thinking that Google might have hard coded the link to their own photo's app from within the camera app, so if the above setting doesn't fix it, then I don't think anything can.

Yeah the ''clear default' is greyed out. So maybe yes its hard coded :/
The camera preview doesn't actually take you to another app.
It might leverage code from another app or it might just look like it does.
You probably can't change it without changing the camera app itself.
I think this has been the case for all Android phones I've had.
