[Q] Zaggmate or Zaggfolio - TouchPad Accessories

Has anybody physically tried to use the HP Touchpad with either the Zaggmate w/Keyboard (originally for ipad1)? or the Zaggfolio (originally for the ipad2)? I have already compared measurements but I want to know if someone has actually tried it.

thanks!!

Love the Aluminium case idea but an iPad case on the TP is going to have gaps at the corners, I don't know how that would affect the way it closes/stays shut.
/edit, Just had a closer look at the middle link keyboard, I can see typing on that being a real pain, having to 'reach over' the case sides all the time.

I called Zagg and they claim compatibility with pairing for the Zagg solo (http://www.zagg.com/accessories/zaggkeys-solo-ipad-keyboard.php), but i'd be more interested in something with a case as well. the good thing is that their bluetooth pairing seems to play well across devices, so pairing it with android when available should be a breeze.
I'll shoot them an e-mail to see if they can tell me if any of there cases would fit snuggly with the touchpad and report back here when I find out.

I noticed it is pretty much the same keyboard used in all those just different cases.. Another sweet lookin case is a New Trent for ipad2.. I have to find the link again.

This looks interesting should fit as per other forums...

Just checking to see if anybody tried any of the zagg cases yet.. I have seen a couple Zaggmate for ipad1 on ebay for $55.00 USD, I was thinking of giving it a try.
**Edit: I found a used one that allegedly works for $40.00 so I bought it.. will report back findings***

The problem you are going to encounter (as has been pointed out a number of times) is that the TouchPad is slightly thicker (about 1mm) than the iPad and anything that clips around the thing tightly is going to come up short for the TouchPad. in other words, if the case is designed for the iPad to sit down snugly inside it somehow, the TP will NOT fit within those confines.
Sorry.

ZAGGmate with Keyboard

They said they used the Zaggmate...

Zaggmate for ipad1 DOES connect/pair with TP
Ok.. My Zaggmate for the ipad1 arrived today. I was very eager to try it out. First impression solid, well built, keyboard is a little small for my hands I would say it is about a 90% keyboard. Others were right the corners are left exposed as you can see in the pictures below but not bad at all. It does fit well. When sitting in the dock area it does stay still, however do not push on the screen too hard or shake the table as it may give way. OH, and the most important part.. IT DOES pair with the TP (see below posts) and my Motorola Droid 1 but can't get it to work with my LG Revolution, but the TP was the main point. So it DOES WORK!!!

Wow that looks awesome! Mind made up lol!
To pair it, I heard you have to type and combination on the touchpad i.e. 1234
then type the exact same thing on the keyboard. Get back if it works

tried the usuals 1234, 0000 but when it did pair to my LG Revo the # code was 6 numbers
disregard.. it did work using 123456 on both!! Thanks for the tip.
It is a little buggy.. the escape key works to open up the app drawer as well as the button on the TP that lets you switch cards..
To use the alternate punctuation marks like ! @ # $ % ^ or ? " : you have to use caps lock, shift won't work
Apple's command button will also open up the app drawer from home screen
Function key row also has search but that will just bring up the Just Type screen but you can also access that by.. you guessed it.. just typing lol I am still playing around with this.

lol I bet there is a map keyboard app for android ;-)

Got the zaggmate to connect with CyanogenMod however none of the function keys seem to work and the arrow keys thinks the tp is always in vertical mode because that how they move. Unless an update will fix some of the issues probably wont work in Android well enough to use regularly.. might buy the zaggkeys solo and see how that works since they list compatibility with Android tabs.
sent from my HP Touchpad powered by CyanogenMod 7.1 alpha
*EDIT*: After some playing around the number/letter/punctuation keys work for basic typing. Search key works, command does nothing, Volume keys work, tab, shift, caps lock all work fine. Anyone following the "issues" from the rootz wiki forum, someone came up with a fix (qwerty.kl file) that allegedly works with the HP Touchpad OEM Bluetooth keyboard to fix the issue with the directional arrow keys only move as if the TP was always in vertical position. This also occurs with the Zaggmate however the "fix" didn't fix it.

You need an updated keyboard mapping file: http://rootzwiki.com/showthread.php?8134-How-to-fix-BT-keyboard-mapping-in-CM-Touchpad

New zagg product
http://www.zagg.com/accessories/zag... stand for the holidayscontent#about-features
ZaggKeys Flex keyboard w/stand $79.99 has a switch to switch between Android or iOS device.. The stand is a case for the keyboard. I can't wait to try this!!!!!

Buy a Chinese bluetooth keyboard and a plate stand, save yourself $60

Brodit Active Holder for Nexus One

Just ordered me one of those.
I hate universal holders and I hate passive holders. This seems like the best choice right now, since the official merchandise is still not in sight...
http://www.pdashop.nl/product/90916/brodit-active-holder-google-nexus-one.html
I have one. It works super. You'll be really happy with it.
Google is missing the boat huge on this car dock.
That's good to hear, MadFlava. I had one of those for my previous phone (Touch Diamond) and that one has served me perfectly too.
Installed mine yesterday. I love it. The cords are ugly but I'll work on that when I get a chance.
Yup, I have one and would recommend them too
Well, received mine today, and... my Nexus One does not fit??? It will not slide far enough over the micro-usb connection.... any of you guys experienced anything like this?
It does not charge now... and there's like 2mm of space left between the bottom of my Nexus One and the holder.. I've used force to some extent, but it just will not slide any further..

I'm new here so I can't post links but go to androidforums.com and search for the thread ProClip Mounting System. In there you'll find a guy (dbpaddler) that has a lot of knowledge about these mounts. He's a re-seller for Brodit I think. Tell him about your problem and maybe he can help.

Sounds very odd. Can you post us a few pictures of what's going on?
See attachment. The micro-usb connector in the holder is about 4.5mm high, but my Nexus One will only slide over it like for 2mm and then it feels like it is blocked by something. I've used force, but no movement whatsoever.
I find it strange too.. I don't see anything odd on the connector, nor on the female connector on my Nexus One. I guess I'll take it back to the store...
How odd. It looks like the connector is slightly left of centre, if you use the trackball to be centre... no jiggling will make it fit?
It may look a bit off-centre due to my photography skills, it looks okay in real life. Jiggling or forcing does not help unfortunately. Of course the connector that came with my Nexus One charger fits nicely, and I don't see any peculiarities when I compare it to the one on the Brodit.
Anyhow, I logged an issue with the webshop that I bought it from and they happen to have a brick-and-mortar store some 50km from here, so I may drop by to demonstrate my problem. Thanks for your help.
Do you have a body skin on the phone?
Nope, no skin. Going to the store later today to have the holder replaced, they think it may just be a faulty unit. Will keep you all posted.
Well, guess what.... just returned from the store, and the replacement holder that they offered had exactly the same problem. The sales guy was as astonished as I was. Personally he had not sold any of these, since the Nexus One is officially not available yet here in the Netherlands, so demand is minimal, but it makes me wonder if I'm really the only one with this problem, and whether my specific Nexus One could be the problem...
Anyway, he took mine back and I was fully refunded, so kudos for pdashop.nl.
Downside: still no carmount for me.
I have one too, it does fit but, I had to wiggle it a little bit to get it in......
It was not just straight forward. I will have a go tonight and see if it still play hard to get.
anyway once plugged, it worked fine for me.
We (both me and the sales guy in the store) used force and wiggled, but to no avail. Besides, I don't want a holder that needs wiggling in the first place. I want it to fit perfectly. That's why I do not buy a universal holder but a Nexus-specific one.
I got mine and it fits perfect.

Yeah update, just tried and fitted like a glove. must have loosen up
does the charger model charge the phone at 500ma or 1000ma? can someone with one check the settings and see if it says charging usb or ac?
The Site is not in english. how do you guys understand what information to fill out when ordering? also can you guys please post some pics? with the dock already in place? just wondering what its going to look like in my car.

Looking for opinions

ok i looked in the search and didnt see anything so im sorry if i missed the thread if there was one.. with that said im looking for opnions on the keyboard dock. i have the TF1 and my two questions is does the keyboard scratch the screen with the keys when its folded up, and two is it worth the 130 price? im torn as i would love the keyboard feature and the extra battery life but im not sure if thats worth the 130. so anyone with the keyboard could you please tell me your thoughts on this.
The keyboard dock keys do not touch the screen, so there is no problem with scratching.
If you do any significant amount of data entry (creating documents, spreadsheets, etc.),
I think the dock is invaluable. I couldn't imagine doing any large amount of typing on even
the best on-screen keyboard. The extra battery in the dock is also great.
Bottom line: if you EVER need to write anything longer than a short email or tweet, then get the keyboard dock.
i love my dock, plus you cant beat the extra batt, fyll usb, and extra storage (im using 64g SDXC)!
I can't imagine using the transformer (or any tablet) fulltime without the dock, it's essential.
There is no way I would pony £400 for a tablet-only device like the iPad2 or the Galaxy Tab, but would easilly spend that on a eee Transformer with the dock.
This is WHY the transformer trumps everything else out there.
i bought the dock for the USB and keyboard. I use this as a RDP machine so i can work remotley and it works like a dream. Extra battery life is awesome and the sd card slot in dock is great because i had a 32 gb card from another device.
+1

The keyboard does not scratch the screen, because doesn't touch the screen, someone as said very well that... well even if the keys touched the screen there is a superb gorilla glass anti scratch.
Please see this mad man testing a TF gorilla glass to the limit, here's the link: http://www.ubergizmo.com/2011/08/asus-eee-pad-transformer-gorilla-glass-test-tf101/
thanks guys, i didnt realize it had gorilla glass, that really should be a bullet point on amazon. i have a few netbooks where the screens scratched thats why i was worried, how does the mouse work, i read on a few sites that it was laggy, is that true?

Unboxing video of the Samsung Tab S keyboard case Titanium Bronze

I happen to get my hands on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S Bluetooth keyboard case. This is the Titanium Bronze color for the Tab S. Samsung did a nice job of designing to match the Tab S. Only thing is the keys are on the bit small side. Might be tough when typing for long periods at a time.
http://youtu.be/ql53cCIshyw
Bad link for me.... Can you update?
Yup, the keys are definitely small.

wouldn't want big hands! great product otherwise. thanks for the vid
Got this after seeing your video! I love it, it looks great and my hands aren't too big so I'm not feeling too cramped.
Unfortunately, I have gotten one where the key layout is different (maybe it's the French layout) than what it shown on the box, which is the normal Eng-US layout. I am completely bummed about that. It still types as though it is the ENG-US keyboard, so it's confusing if I want to use the characters, or the alt characters over the numbers keys.
Any other Canadians with this issue? I bought mine in Victoria BC, at our one and only Futureshop.
Thinner, lighter, smaller outside, yet bigger keys, all same functions, $89 vs $150, PLUS a trackpad: google "fire keyboard"
I have both. I love how the Samsung keyboard acts as a cover and a kickstand, without having to put any actual cover or case on the tablet. I hate covers and cases. And I love how it looks perfect matching the tablet. But I was really missing a trackpad. Touching the screen while in laptop mode just really awkward and annoying to me.
I've only had the tablet about 3 days so I'm still playing with both keyboards. For one thing, if I were going to use the Fire keyboard most of the time, I'd need to find, or make, some kind of book cover to attach the keyboard to, and to prop up the tablet. On the plus side I could stow a stylus there too.
Do the box come in sealed? I can't find it locally so I might need to resource to Amazon or Ebay.

Fintie Blade X1 Keyboard Case

Has anyone tried this on their 8.4? I was thinking I would wait for Samsung to come out with one for the 8.4 like they have for the 10.5. But I came acrross this one on Amazon and thought I might actually like this one better...especially since it's a LOT cheaper than the Samsung accessory.
http://www.amazon.com/Fintie-Blade-...913&sr=1-1&keywords=galaxy+tab+s+8.4+keyboard
I guess if you don't mind your 400 tablets screen beeing ground against a 30 dollar piece of plastic. ..
There is actually an genuine Samsung keyboard for the 8.4. Here it is
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Ori...=UTF8&qid=1412020805&sr=8-3&keywords=EJ-CT700
Only thing is that the bronze version....which is the one I want, has both English AND Korean characters on the keys. Strangely it seems that the white version only has English. What's happening there i wonder? Also the bronze version is actually shipped from Korea.

Not too sure how it works. I bought the FINTIE SMARTSHELL CASE FOR SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB S 8.4 - NAVY (one without the keyboard) http://www.fintie.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=667_801_804&product_id=5140 online. Excellent quality product but the magnets on the cover interferes with the device. It puts the device to sleep randomly and often I notice interference bands on the screen.
Geoux did a good review post here and confirms the same issue .. seems we may have to stick with the original book cover.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEres5l0dXU
The magnetic features did not seem to be evident here.
I just got one of these keyboards througfh my local Verizon store. I didn't know what I'd get, but it was clearly labelled Finte and there is no Verizon branding on it. The Keyboard is somewhat small, but usable. I'm typing this post as my initial run with the keyboard. I have above average size hands and was expecting more difficulty than I'm having. I'm not a great typist and have issues of some degree with any keyboard. The keys are responsive and provide a good tactile response. As with every keyboard I use, I would love to be able to disable the CAPS LOCK. Otherthan that, this is a pretty nice small keyboard.
When I first tried this at home, I simply folded down the lid of my laptop, which is also my desktop. The Finte attached firmly to the laptop, and refused to do anything. So I took it off the laptop, put it off to the side and just used the wooden desk top. The Finte has no issues, either here, or on any neutral non magnetic surface.
Great case and keyboard for $40.00.

Keyboard

Do you see scratches ...... even minor scratches after using the OEM keyboard for awhile ?
Bought both together and been using for 2 weeks now - nada. Loving the keyboard too
Sent from my Pixel C using Tapatalk
i have a big problem with the keyboard. my english is not good enough to describe it, so i copied it from arstechnica.com: "The keyboard would frequently disconnect from the tablet, which makes the software keyboard pop up on the screen. If this happened in the middle of typing, this connection hiccup would either cause a ton of input lag, make a key get virtually "stuck," or lose a bunch of input. We would frequently have things like the backspace or enter key get stuck, resulting in either a ton of text getting deleted or a bunch of whitespace being entered.
Part of it might be that without a trackpad you are constantly switching from the keyboard to tapping the screen, which probably puts stress on the magnetic connection. "
the last scentence is wrong, because i had the same issue with my nexus 9 and Bluetooth keyboard.
it's so annoying. during tiping this short text (took me 10 minutes because of the bug), i got a little tantrum.
p. s. : except of this bug, it works great..
I have had both since launch day and have not had any of the negative experiences. Nothing. No lag with typing, no disconnection, nothing. Great pair together. Just wish there were more tablet specific apps for it.
Absolutely no scratches or abrasions. you can tell when you look down the edge with the two together that the keys are recessed a millimeter or two from the screen. I can imagine if there was some compression at play, like if you put it in a bag with some heavy books or if you sat on it or something that might force the keys to touch the screen but i would think you might have worse problems if that were the case.

Care to share some pics , i bought the keyboard , but the magnetic one, feel want to buy folio also but still undecided yet
Here ya go man, sorry for the late response, just saw this now: https://goo.gl/photos/6EpkeWXTyZbs7UVC6
For typical day to day use it's great, the only place it falls short is coding/advanced Linux usage since it doesn't have some of the standard keys like escape, F keys, ~ | { } [ ] I'm actually looking at getting a different keyboard to use in my apartment for when I want to mess around with my servers while watching TV, but will still use the Folio case when on the go since it's really great at protecting the device, totally not worth the $150 price tag though, maybe $75, but if you want something you know is going to fit it like a glove and last a while, there's no better place to get it other than straight from El Goog.
I'm picking up this baby to use when I want to code/do Linux stuff at home.
mine arrived tuesday and i already have scratches on the screen from the keyboard. they are in the corners.
I'm assuming you got the aluminum (?) keyboard? It's pretty much impossible for the Folio keyboard to scratch the screen since it covered in fake leather.
