Can anyone offer any advice or explanation as to why texts sent to me as pictures won't load? They're just stuck at "downloading" if I click on them.
This was happening on my stock rom and on my current infused 2.1 rom. I've tried using stock sms, handcent, and go sms pro, with no luck.

You can't receive pictures through sms. So sounds like you don't have an mms data plan.

Genius! Not a actually a bug but rather a drawback. I knew that mms should still work with wifi on because Att network should still maintain the connection for need data features such as mms and found it odd that it did not on my infuse (my apologies to gtg I simply blamed infused but never felt like flashing back to stock to confirm so never mentioned it). However after reading this and checking juice defender the option is there to disable network data with wifi connected and it does state that this will interfere with mms. Mystery solved !

I had the same problem. I fixed it by going to Settings, Wireless and network, Mobile networks, Access Point Names, ATT WAP scrolled all the way down and selected APN type and selected Internet + MMS. Boom! Problem solved!

Anyone else noticing the data symbol (h+) staying on even when connected to wifi?
Just curious... I'm running infused 1.4

I'm able to hide it again by putting it in airplane mode and then back, but it's not ideal
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
itll sometimes reconnect to data. not sure whats making it do that but its not actually transmitting. dunno.
Probably because it is still connected to the network, att needs to keep tabs on you. Plus your calls/text are never coming over wifi (going into airplane mode means you don't get those)
Mine will pop up here and there but I'm guessing it's just checking syncs in the background. I do use the att address book. My data symbol doesn't stay on though when on wifi.

Mine does go back to hiding. Not sure why yours isn't unless you have some odd app that's keeping it open.
Mine does this as well. While I'm on wifi the h+ will come on and sometimes go away, but sometimes it stays on the screen. It doesn't seem to affect anything so I don't worry about it.
Just curious, are you sending or receiving any MMS msgs when this is going on?

Sure haven't. I just use CM7 now since it has the 2/4g toggle in notification... I just deal with it now, until a new baseband is out for us, I don't think it will be fixed.

It used to work well but because of some incident, though not confirmed yet, there is us in that group that can't send mms when 4g in on. As if sms wont trigger the 2g/gsm switch for it to be able the sms to be send.

There is a setting in the LG hidden menu that could fix it, but LG has not implemented it. Under modem settings there is a CS/PS preference (Carrier Signal/Packet Switched). You want that set to CS. Almost no carrier in the world has implemented PS sending for sms. When you select CS you get a toast message that says not implemented yet. If LG had implemented that setting to the baseband it would fix this problem. It appears the issue is that automatic CS fallback has been turned off. When on on 2G or wifi, sms message are sent by CS by default. On 3G and 4G, for some stupid reason, Android tries to send them first on PS, then when it cannot be sent that way, the modem is supposed to auto-fallback to CS and send the sms. For some reason instead of performing the fallback the modem is just throwing up a general error and giving up. If anyone can figure out how to issue a command to the modem and turn auto-fallback back on I think it would fix this issue.
I don't have such problem (sending text) when the phone displays "H" (I use Eagleblood AOSP ROM because I don't like 2G/4G).

Is not mms is sms only, only it happends when is connected to 4g network, when i am in 2g netwkrk, uma wifi calling or data disable it works fine. Is like the phone forgot the command to switch to 2g network to send sms message and then switch back to 4g. One doesnt see this switch because it happends in seconds
Well I still have the problem. My carrier cannot help me they have tried everything at this point they are asking me to return the phone.

Okay, so this may seem like a stupid question, but is it possible to turn off all data except MMS? I've tried juice defender, and juice defender ultimate, but that doesn't seem to make a difference. I don't have a data plan, nor do I need to use data away from home. however, when I'm out and about, I do like to send photos and whatnot. however, that requires data to be on. But 4G is a such a battery killer, especially since I'm not even using it.
Any help would be awesome! thanks.
Not that I'm aware of. You can shut off data, and turn it on before you send a pic and then shut it off again.

That doesn't help when I'm receiving pics though :/ I get random pics all the time. With minimal use my phone barely lasts 10 hours because 4G is always on. I would turn data off completely, but then I can't use mms. I think it's stupid we can't turn off 4F which is stupid. I don't use data away from home except mms. So I think there should be some app or something that should be able to disable it but enable to mms

Hi!

Just rebember to take care on what you change in databases so you don't soft brick your device!
This change that is described in the post I tested on my device and worked fine..

Can you explain this further. When I had Virgin Mobile they had many growing pains when they started selling the optimus v and with that several data outages. When data was out you couldnt ever get mms pictures. I got a couple free months of service because of that. I was told by sprints level three techs mms would not be transmitted. As in you would never get the message unless data was on.
If I am misreading what you are saying please ignore. But I am almost positive you still need data to get the mms. Not just to download but to receive it.
