[Q] Double Apps? - HTC Inspire 4G

So recently I had to use a CWM backup because I had soft bricked my phone...after doing so I realized that I had 2 of some apps in the drawer. Both seem to be working fine but I was wondering if there was a way to get rid of them as they just look annoying to me lol, its only the Market, Reader and System apps that seemed to have doubled

Try doing a full wipe including dalvik cache and reinstall the backup

Reboot your phone and they should go away.

Yeah I did that twice after the second one it worked

Happened to me once. That is how I knew a reboot fixed it.

I know I'm still new but...
Did you do a data wipe? What rom were you using earlier? Did you have a nandroid backup? And what roms are you trying to switch to (I know that the newest Android Revolution had a problem with its files, patched now though)?
Ok this is what happened so far. I went back to the original new update stock. I used the hack kit and did the root. I installed RCMix and it was working and I made a backup. I tried to install ultimate Droid and phoenix evolution and it will take me to clockwork and delete the old files and install the new ones . It will reboot but stay on the HTC white screen.

Boot into recovery via rom manager or press volume down+power and hold, and reboot to recovery via hboot. Now go to mounts and formats I believe and format data, catche, system and then go back and flash your rom. I had same issue till I formatted my system. You don't lose root or SD data. Give it a try and let me know how it goes

Thanks Matt that worked . Idk why it did that though

Well there's data files and configurations that are leftover from the previous rom,and when its still there the newer files mix with the older ones (that aren't the same) and causes bootloops 95% of the time. So just by doing a data wipe,it still doesn't clean it throughly. Glad I can help.

Data wipes
So a data wipe doesn't remove all the old info/files? I'm currently getting a "System UID's conflict". Should I format the data/cache/system and reflash to resolve or just try a data wipe again?
Well usually it does by I've had issues after a wipe. Factory reset and clearing dalvik and catche sometimes doesn't do it for me. So u can formal system, catche, data and then reflash the rom. BUT before even attemping to flash the rom, make sure the md5 matches up so u didn't end up with a bad download. If the md5 matches with what the op provides,or search the market for the program (afv something) and check it. Then if its matching, then format the partitions, then flash.

sometimes if you are dl-ing the rom from your phones browser it doesn't dl it completly either. had that happen twice.
I hear there is a bug in Rom manager and it doesn't properly wipe data and cache. Easy way past the problem is to wipe it manually in recovery.

[Q] MIUI FC issues on nexus s amoled

I have a weird issue that may have occurred to others but could not find on the forum. I flashed the rom and English pack. Restored my apps through titanium. Everything runs smooth until I reboot and get bombarded with FC messages about something .media and something. .score. the phone becomes unusable and I am forces to reflash. Can someone help me out a bit?
Try running fix permissions, via rom manager or CW recovery.
I've been using miui for quite a while without any issues - did you wipe everything before installing the rom.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Yes I have tried fixing permission and wiped everything. I thought it might have something to do with titanium restoring something from 2.3.3?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
I'm not sure about that one as I seldom use titanium. The only thing I can think of with titanium is did you restore system settings? You should only restore the apk&data (ie 'restore all apps with data')
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Yup I deselected all the system restore files and only restored my apps and data...

[Q] Can anyone help me with this COREDROID download please?

I have been trying to download this coredroid @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=858418 but don't know where to download it exactly. It took me to the coredroid home site when I pressed download, n I downloaded v1.4, but when I flash it via cwm recovery and reboot it to install it from my sd card I get an error message. I forgot what the error message said. I have downloaded other roms I had to flash, n they worked great! Only having problems with this one... Can someone please give me the direct link to download this? Because I really like it and want to use it on my phone. By the way I have a rooted HTC INSPIRE 4G. Thanks!
You downloaded the one for a different phone. Here they are.

I have HTC inspire 4g! Remove the spaces from the link above.
Ok. Did you wipe your phone first or just flashed the ROM? Just asking because I'm running RCMix 3d right now. Should I do a wipe first or just flash n should i update my ROM manager before I flash coredroid 8?........ Well, nevermind about the questions because it just want work on my phone. The home screen won't even show it says loading and then the screen blanks out and loading pops right back up. I can get into the stuff that's on the lock screen by pulling it to the ring, and I can get to my setting by pulling down the notification bar. I can't access any of the home screens because loading keeps popping up. Why is that? I tried the one you posted above also, still the same as the other ones I have tried. :/ I really like this rom though, maybe it'll be fixed and working properly soon. Oh yeah I did a hard reset on my phone by holding down the down button and power button and tried to flash it afterwards, but still the same thing.
I am New to this game as well, but try and do a clean install wipe all the settings and things like that from the recovery menu then install zip from sd card and see if that works.
I have wiped it from the rom manager, but the home screen still stayed on loading and I can never get to the home screen because of loading blanks out n appear again.

As I'm having the same issue after loading the HTC Desire HD v8.0 update please share what you did to fix this issue.
After I put CoreDroid on my SD card I went to rom manager and went to install zip from SD card, then go down to whatever ROM you're putting on your phone click on it... if your coming from another ROM clear Dalvik cache and wipe data cache, but if your not coming from another ROM just check wipe data and cache. Then press ok then it should flash and reboot on it's own. Let me know if this works for you.

If you're going from one ROM to another, you should always do a full wipe of everything or you'll run into trouble eventually. Installing a minor revision update of the same ROM usually doesn't require wiping anything unless the developer says otherwise.
I was just telling him how I did mines, n I didn't come from a different ROM that's y I didn't clear Dalvik cache I only wiped data n cache. By the way a developer did tell me to wipe my data if coming from a different ROM to start fresh... So now with that being said, @ henry, should I clear Dalvik cache and wipe data and cache every time I switch to a different ROM from ROM manager???
Sent from my Inspire4G using XDA App
I am running a previous Coredroid release, so I would think that all I'm doing is an update, did you do the cache and dalvik clear after the update or before?
Before, then I deleted it and put a different ROM on here, after I took that ROM off I downloaded CoreDroid again and put it back on here. So yes, I cleared Dalvik cache and wipe data.
Sent from my Inspire4G using XDA App
Not saying wipe your data though since you're still using CoreDroid.
Sent from my Inspire4G using XDA App
ended up having to do a data wipe after all, couldn't get out of the reload loop otherwise. /sigh
Oh sorry, glad you have it working.

What method did you use to restore the apps? Is your device overclocked? Try doing a clean install of the ROM without restoring anything to see if the problem persists.
i restored them with titanium backup and no my device is not overclocked. with no apps, it works fine, the reboots occur on a few hours

[Q] [CM11] System crash every one hour

Hi,
I flashed CM11 2 weeks ago on my HTC One Mini.
Bootloader unlocked, S-ON, HBoot 2.22, rooted, TWRP 2.7.0.8
CyanogenMod 11-20140504-NIGHTLY-m4
Using LunarUi 2 theme and Dodol launcher
Keyboard: Swype, TouchPalX
Went through 10 hours of hell on that day I flashed TWRP 2.7.0.0 and yeah... it wiped my device :crying: Then I flashed CWM... tried to use RUU... another ROM... another bootloader... another PC... get it S-OFF... endless rebooting... Everything failed until I found TWRP 2.7.0.8, wiped my HTC, reinstalled usb drivers on my computer, and then adb pushed the ROM onto my phone. Phew... so glad that I didn't brick it Thumbs up for Klivarre who wrote the HBoot 2.22 guide Although it was a bit late for me haha.
Anyway... after 2 days of use, I started getting the following problem:
My phone would crash every one hour or so. Sometimes the phone suddenly freezes for a few second and got a popup saying "com.android.systemui has stopped working", pressed "wait" and all the apps (include background, as I noticed that all the notifications on my status bar closes) eventually restarted themselves after 10 seconds. The system didn't reboot.
The other times my phone just freeze. The touch screen did not respond. When I pressed the power or the volume buttons, the backlight lighted up but the screen was still freeze. I would then keep pressing on the power button and the phone would reboot and then it runs without a problem. But crash again after an hour or two
I have tried wiping my cache and dalvik and fix permissions but did not solve the problem.
Another thing, I downloaded the ROM update cm-11-20140504-SNAPSHOT-M8 through the "Settings" on my phone but couldn't flash it. Is this not for HTC One mini?
Any solutions? This is really annoying Any help would be greatly appreciated :good:
that update is not a mini update, it's for the new HTC M8 phone. Personally don't have any experience with the mini CM11. But was thinking you might want to wipe system and data too and reflash your rom by the sounds of it. BUT DON'T do this yet as this will wipe everything maybe including your sdcard (maybe not), until someone with some CM11 experience could maybe lend some assistance.

Thanks for your reply
Normally, would flashing a new ROM deletes all my files on the phone (e.g. music, picture, app etc)? And does Titanium Backup backup the applications themselves (the apk) or just the app data? Can I adb push a TWRP backup onto my phone if I accidentally wiped everything? Can I restore a Titanium Backup in such situation?
If I can restore the backups, I will try to reflash the ROM

If you do full wipes SYSTEM DATA CACHE & DALVIK youll lose apps installed. The SDCARD i'm not sure about. Just don't take the risk and backup and move said backup onto computer for safety.
Titanium Backup should backup the apk and the data. Just don't restore system apps to avoid further problems. Also you "may" be able to push a TWRP backup to your phone, though never tried that myself, but you might have to set the permissions of the TWRP backup to their original permissions. again I am unsure of this, it might be best to test this out BEFORE wiping and installing anything.

Flashed the rom again but the problem is still here
I removed half of the widgets that were on my home screen and I think the situation improved. Now the system crash every 3 to 4 hours.
Could this be due to low RAM and therefore the system closes all background apps?
