What?
This guy is clearly trying to find Android programming related answers pertaining to this phone model, why would he need to post his question to the General section???
This is like the third Android development related qestion that I have recently read where you guys claim needs to be posted to General, so there is question why developers have given up on this phone model, and XDA overall.

Yes, I think this does pertain to programming for android. However, it's not development related to the phone.
Meaning this section is for actually posting development stuff for the phone. Asking about developing for the phone can be done in the General forum, I honestly don't care, but I think it's just how things are supposed to be categorized.

In regards to your question, this model is similiar enough to the vibrant that you can use whatever AVD's exist for the vibrant. Taking into consideration the difference with internel memory.
Hope that helps. Again general questions about developing, as opposed to offering development solutions should be posted in the General section. I'm not flaming you, I'm trying to help you.
move this.
The fact is it is still a question. Should be in General. Stop flooding the development forum with random questions and keep it clean.
This is a development question FFS. http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/devices/index.html
Where in
Galaxy S 4G Android Development
Android development for the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4G
does it say that you can't ask questions about development?

I think the same rules would apply here.

Bingo. I think this is a well known fact but apparently we need a sticky for it.
oh, look. another question in the dev section. how cute.
Or should any questions regarding specific ROMs be asked in the ROM thread???
No, if you have a QUESTION on anything, post it in the Q&A section.

Okay, for instance it's a problem with a specific ROM only the developer can answer... or maybe has been experienced by other users of the same ROM... The developer and every other user of the ROM is looking at it's original thread.... not the Q&A forum.... You might get an answer in this forum but you're more likely to get an answer in the ROM's original thread...Am I wrong????(Again another rhetorical question)
You are correct if you have any questions regarding a specific ROM post in that ROM thread if its a general question about the phone its self use the Q&A section.

Unless it has to do with benchmark scores for a certain ROM ... those call for a new thread in Q&A.

Something is wrong with the OTG when flashing Charck' 4.1.1 Rom .And no Chinese input .
But I can't talk in Android Development .

You need to post about 10 times before you can post in the dev section... Might seem unfair but there was a real problem with people posting new threads that had nothing to do with developement... Clutters the forum...
Sooo im not really new to xda i was a member a while ago but forgot my password nd everything so i had to make a new one..now with this new account i cant ask questions or write to devs in the development part..all i can do is thank them..i remember we were able to ask questions and write our feelings about the roms and such without having to be a member for a certain period of time..i guess what im asking is how am i suppose to ask questions and get answers when i need help if i cant write because imma "noob"??...which im not..thnx in advance.

You need to make like 10 posts in non development threads before you can post in the development section.

Just go around and give a simple thank you to all the Devs in the general section. You'll be at 10 posts before you know it. I had the same problem as you did. Now all is well

Right?
I have been lurking for years, but only recently did I obtain anything useful to say, but it would not allow me to. So when I went to post on the thread I was like,
RAAAAAAGGGGGEEE!!!!!!
But I suppose it would not hurt the forums out to have a few miscellaneous general discussion posts.

I too am frustrated by the 10 post rule - I'd be happy to help out answering questions if I knew what I was doing enough to contribute, but I don't. How am I supposed to learn if I can't ask questions? Just doesn't really make sense to me . . .

You can help and ask questions...in the Q/A section. We all had to do it so it's not like you're the first to be saddled with these limitations.

Guess I assumed this forum wasn't really designed for questions regarding rooting the phone. I pictured it more as a troubleshooting section / more general forum and thought questions regarding rooting a phone were for the developer thread. Perhaps I got my wires crossed

Oh nah Q/A is perfect for all GSIII questions haha I guarantee if you post a new thread about anything that is not your developed rom/mod/kernel in either dev section, you'll be met with a lot of negativity. I'm not even joking. A good tip to know is: when in doubt, post it in the Q/A section. Typically post in a developer thread if you're reporting bugs or helping someone else in that thread similar to what I'm doing right now with you. Only create a new thread in either development section if you developed something and want to share it.

Please do not create new Android "L" threads. Until the release is official, we are using the dedicated sticky only.

I tried creating a thread for this if you search for threads created by me. It got locked because apparently letting everyone search through thousands of L posts for the important information they need is a better option

Well until L is final, we use the stickies. L is subject to change and all these threads become irrelevant so follow what the forum admins want.
Searching a single thread is no different to searching a forum. Search works just as well in both scenarios. So there really is no need to flood everyone else with the repeated same L questions

Rule #1 of the XDA Forum Rules
1. Search before posting.
Use one of our search functions before posting or creating a new thread. Whether you have a question or just something new to share, it's very likely that someone has already asked that question or shared that news.
