[Q] Win7x64 USB - Device Not Recognized - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried connecting my Transformer to my PC this morning to make copying files to internal memory a bit quicker than using wifi. Assuming it would be like pretty much every other Android device, i just plugged the Transformer in using the supplied USB cable and assumed Windows would recognise the Transformer and download the appropriate device driver.
Unfortunately, it did not recognise the device and came up with that message. So i uninstalled the generic drivers for the unknown device and then installed the Asus PC suite thinking that this would work. Rebooted computer, plugged in Transformer and again same message, device not recognised.
Why isn't this simple? I'm yet to try on another PC. Can anyone suggest any tricks to get this working?

Just download the actual USB drivers from ASUS, plug in the TF, right click My Computer then click Manage, select Device Manager from the pane on the left and find the transformer in one of the dropdowns on the main pane. Right click the transformer in the dropdown and update driver, choose to find driver yourself, navigate to the ASUS usb driver folder you downloaded and continue. Drivers should then be installed.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried to manually install the drivers this way and pointing to the inf files to install but windows says they are not a valid driver installation file. I noticed someone else was having this problem in another thread and it was unresolved.

Weird. I have win 7 x64 on my desktop and laptop and never had problems installing drivers or recognition problems. Should try connecting to another machine with x64, might be a hardware problem with your machine.

If you run the asus sync or pcsuite application, either one will install automatically the usb drivers.

Remove all the drivers you have installed and then reinstall from ASUS. They may be conflicting

[Q] Nook Tablet USB Debugging via Win7

Trying to use Indirect's rooting system for the Nook Tablet, but getting stuck on the install of USB Debugging.
I've "unrooted" from 1.4.1 back to 1.4.0.
The instructions suggest, "6a. When the batch file opens the device manager, If you don't see a broken device icon next to "NOOK Tablet" then you may have some other generic drivers taking over. Not sure how to remove them so you will have to move to another PC that has never had a tablet hooked up and start over."
However the Driver that is working for the Tablet is the standard Winidows Portable Device Filesystem (Win 7, 64 bit). I can uninstall it, but it comes right back as soon as I reconnect the Nook. Tried also to use the "Have Disk" approach, but it complains "Folder doesn't contain compatible Driver. Make sure it is designed to work with Win7 x64."
I'm thinking this has got to be a common problem for Win7 users.
Any solution?

[Q] Driver Prob in Windows 7

Hi all,
I just connected my TF101 to transfer some files (its rooted with ARHD 3.2.1) and windows 7 fail to recognize it.
They find it as Transformer TF101 but with error. I tried to install the Asus ADB drivers but still doesnt open so i can copy some files i want....
Any suggestions ?
Do you need ASUS sync (usb transfer) or full ADB. You can try downloading the android-sdk from google here: http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Also make sure 'USB-Debugging' is checked in the developer menu on the TF.
I dont need asus sync, i have disabled it also, and debuging is on. (yes i only need the usb transfer)
I already have tried the SDK, but still nothing.
I only need it to transfer some files (i ve already rooted it).
For the moment i can only do it via wifi but i cant see my SD on wifi and there is also no mass transfer.
My device manager recognizes it as Transformer TF101, but even when i manualy try to update the drivers with the Asus, i get that they arent compatible
What version of the drivers are you trying to install? Im using 1.0.76, and they work fine on win7 ult. x64
I tried the official http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=20&m=Eee+Pad+Transformer+TF101 and google SDK also...
Still even when i try to manually update them from the folder i unziped the drivers nothing happens.

drivers vs asus sync

Hi,
As a brand new owner of TF700T (9.4.5.22), I'd like to root it. I've thus read many posts on this site (and elsewhere, which most often direct to this forum..), in particular one describing the use of debugfs.
One pint that I've still not understood is how to install debugfs: post states to unzip the debugfs files and then to install its drivers. But when I connect my TF700T to PC (with debug tckied and asus sync unchecked), my Win7 64 deos not recongizes the device (unknown device). If I go to device manager, I see a "unknown device" and if I "update its driver", I select the directory of drivers/android from debugfs 1.9, but then I get a message that there's no need to update driver, but still I see "no driver" has been installed for the device, and it remains "unknown".
What do I do wrong ? Or do I need to install Asus Sync on PC, and then simply "exit" it to run adb/debugfs ? ("exit" and not "uninstall") ?
I also tried to check various websites, such as the transformerprimeroot site and its tutorials, but it doesn't help me. I also found another website suggesting to install java sdk+Google SDK, etc., but I've the feeling it's not required for rooting... or is it ?
Thanks in advance for your help,
Ricorico94
Try using the USB driver from the Android SDK. Although that might be the same one that's included in the debugfs root tool.
If the tablet shows up as a ADB composite device or something (don't have the tablet nearby to check, sorry) in the device manager you should be good to go.
If you can run "adb shell" and get anything but an error message, you're good to go. Type "exit" to get out of the shell.
Do not install the Asus Sync software, it can only end in tears

I'm not sure where to look: on Android SDK pages, it states that to connect devices, you need to go to OEM pages, and when I go follow their link to Asus I get the support page which lists firwraes and Asus Sync, but not drivers separately. Does it mean I need to install first Asus Sync, then remove it ?
I could progress :
- first, it coud interest others to see that despite Asus does not propose USB drivers for TF700T, it still does for TF201. I could download such USB drivers, thoug I did not use them..
- as I had to put my laptop on hibernation, when I switched it on again, I unzipped the USB drivers (nothing more, so probably no effect), I plugged in my TF700T and then it was recognised. I assume the download of the USB drivers did not have any effect, but it's probably linked to laptop exiting hibernation (update of some Win7 processes, I guess?)
- in device Manager, under Portable Devices, it states "ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T" and not "composite ADB" as I could read sometimes..
I'm now starting the debugfs.bat, and it's looking ok so far...so I cross my fingers !
It worked ! My device is now rooted. Thanks a lot to all of you !
I'm having the same problem, but unfortunately without Windows suddenly finding drivers.
In Device Manager, the tablet shows up as ASUS Android Composite ADB Interface, but with no driver installed (and the familiar little yellow warning triangle). Windows can't find drivers automatically, and telling it to find them in DebugfsRoot_v1.8/Drivers/Android doesn't work.
As far as I can tell, the ASUS TF700T page currently has no drivers. (I'm not allowed to link 'cause I'm a new user.) The TF201 page does have drivers, listed under 'USB', but diff tells me they're the same as the ones packaged with the debugfs root tool.
I just wanted to check: am I doing something wrong? It seems like rico also saw no drivers at the ASUS page, but then Windows suddenly recognized his tablet anyway.
I haven't installed the Android SDK because I'd rather not install Java, and from what I can tell it won't make a difference here (and rico didn't need it). But I'm a noob, so please let me know if that's what I have to do!

Here is what I did
get ASUS Sync from the Asus Website
install it
Then uninstall asus sync (it screws things up) but keep the drivers or whatever the other thing it installs is
run debugfs.

Aw, I was hoping to avoid that. I'll give it a shot, though. Thanks!
Edit: Looks like it worked fine. For anyone else coming to this, just in case it's not clear, installing ASUS Sync installs three additional things: Adobe Air, MSXML, and USB drivers. Obviously the drivers are the important part. I never plugged the TF700T in while Sync was installed; I immediately uninstalled it (and Air and MSXML, but those shouldn't matter). Then I plugged my tablet in and it was detected just fine (as ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T, rather than ASUS Android Composite ADB Interface, so that matches rico's report).
Thanks again, GrimSage!
Edit again: I was worried that I'd screwed something up, but apparently I just had to actually run the Superuser app before su would work. Yay, I'm rooted and can install Arch Linux.

ADB Does Not See TF700

I cannot for the life of me get ADB to recognize my new TF700. I've tried using the naked drivers, along with the ones Windows installs by default.
Android SDK is up to date.
I've searched every thread high and low and cannot figure this out.
I didn't have nearly this much trouble with my TF101.
I'm at my wits end, so any help is appreciated.
TF700 is new out of the box, with Android 4.1.1
USB debugging is ticked in settings right.
Look in windows device manager see if it shows as USB mass storage device.
If not remove usb from the PC then plug into a different port on the PC.
Also sometimes the sync software from Asus will force Windows to recognize the tablet.
Is there a micro card in the tablet?
If so unplug the tab remove the card after unmounting then plug the tab back into the usb and see if it shows up.
USB Debugging is checked.
Device manager shows "ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T" and "ASUS Android Composite ADB Interface"
I'm about to try the Asus Sync trick.
No MicroSD card is in the tablet. Should I try putting one in?
EDIT:
No difference with MicroSD card
No difference after installing ASUS Sync

Yes try the microSD card...
Can you uninstall the Composite ADB Interface and reboot the PC then connect the tab again?
Edit:
Are you on a Windows 7 desktop?
Just in case drivers for Asus tabs
ADB
ADB and fastboot wouldn't pick up mine, either, but I got it working by using another USB port on my box. Even using a simple extension cable meant that I'd lose connectivity, so make sure you plug it in directly, too.

Uninstalled Composite ADB Interface, rebooted, connected tab and used the drivers you provided.
Still no luck.
Yes, Windows 7 64-bit desktop.

I've tried multiple USB ports, even 3.0 ports, all with no avail. No extensions or hubs being used, plugging directing into motherboard.
EDIT:
Again, it's on Android 4.1.1, is this the issue?
Build Number is 10.4.4.23
EDIT 2:
Downgraded to Android 4.0.3, Build 9.4.5.30
Was able to root using kangaroot on my MacBook Pro
Still no luck with Windows 7 though

Windows can be stubborn as far as this.
Asus PC Suite may be able to overwrite the problem driver.
Glad to see the MAC came thru though :good:

A700 USB problem

Hello.
I've got A700 and I'm trying to root it but I've got a problem. I tried it with every key combination (power, volume up & down) I found on the internet but they don't work.
I also tried it when using the USB port but my PC and my laptop won't recognise the tablet. I've downloaded the drivers from Acer but when I install them my PC asks to install NET frameworks 2.0.5727. This version is no longer available but Frameworks 3 also worked according to Microsoft. After this installation the drivers from Acer still don't want to install. Then I tried it with Android USB driver but the same problem keeps coming back.
When I plug the tablet on my PC and look in the windows device manager there is a yellow triangle on the USB port with an error code 43. I've got the same problem and errors on my laptop. They both work on Windows 8.1. The tablet doesn't appear in the device list on my pc .
Could it be that the problem is on my tablet's USB? There is no problem when charging.
Does anyone have a similar problem or maybe a solution?

Well, Win8 can sometimes give issues. I might suggest 2 things,
1) Try a different USB port. Typically devices come with USB 3 and USB 2 ports. If you have a standalone PC (desktop) don't use the USB port in the front. Try it from the back port.
2) Try manually installing the drivers. In device manager, select "install from disk" and manually select the driver (even if windows won't guarantee compatibility)
As with .net, just install the newest.
If the above don't work, well, try somebody's Win7 pc.
One more thing, when you install the drivers, make sure you "right mouse click" and install as administrator.
