If you do that, i would check if the radio-version matches, else you could have problems with wifi oder gsm

At the moment I have:
Android 2.3.3 on O2
Software Number: 1.19.206.2
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.10-g8db500e
Baseband Version: 47.14.35.3030H_7.47.35.17
got a stock rom which is:
Software Number: 1.13.401.1
Baseband Version: 47.14.35.3030_7.47.35.17
So radio does seem to be the same.. I am using the downgrade method..
when I boot with volume down and power button, it loads the PH60IMG.zip (blue bar) and then goes to the checks PH60IMG.zip (golden bar) and then it turns back to the bootloader start screen and nothing happens..
please share you experiences, Im sure Im going somewhere wrong..
please advise guys..

Unlocking is possible by using an unlock code. I purchased the code, and now use a t-mobile sim.

Is SIM lock = S-ON?
I think they are two separate locks.
SIM lock for not use another Network, and S-ON is not change Android software, Am I right?
@rangercaptain
Is your mobile originally S-ON or S-OFF?

SIM lock != S-ON (not equals)
And yes, those are two different locks. It does not matter if you have a S-ON/S-OFF phone, you can still unlock it via special network codes that cost money which do not require a S-OFF phone.
If you don't want to pay, you must S-OFF your phone and perform some hacks to unlock SIM.

How can i do some hacks? Can you explain me more please?
Thanks.

Hello,
I may be wrong, but since the ChaCha has no eMMC chip, the only remaining protection is left in HTC's kernel. So with temproot one could load a kernel driver to disable this protection, and then proceed to reflash the recovery.

Hi Alex,
Would it be possible to post where there are instructions to perform these hacks to SIM unlock the device?
Thankfully HTCDev have released the Unlock for S-Off.
Kind regards,

Since when? HTCDev released the unlocking bootloader patch and not the S-OFF. Normally S-OFF will set your CID to SuperCID, which is 111111; this means that your device is worldwide and restrictions are lifted.

Ahh man, I understood the unlocked bootloader was to S-OFF the device.
My appologies.

Look i found web site with free sim unlock key generator for mostly all HTC devices http://simlockcalculators.com/htc-free-unlock-codes-calculator/
Its looks like its really working and its tottaly free by looking comments but i never tested it myself because i got sensation already sim lock free but im about to buy a ChaCha with provider lock, só as its tottaly free,i undestand you need to complete a survey to get the program, if sdome 1 get dnload link of his app please share, would be great, or reshare gate on some g s, as im using ne right now, cant do a survey.
Cheers

[Q] Network locked phone?

So I got a Desire S a few weeks ago, but didn't have time to play with it yet. Now I do. It is from T-Mobile Austria, and the first thing I did is generate a goldcard to flash the unbranded WWE ROM. (The first file in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002506 ).
It still won't let me use any other SIM Cards, after asking for the PIN, it tells me that, "Network locked" and asks for a PIN.
So short question: Is it possible to remove this lock? Could it be, that i have done something wrong with the goldcard (although i doubt that, since it would let me flash the generic rom)?
Thanks in advance!
No, flashing a Rom doesn't unlock the sim. This has to be done through sim level via an xtc clip, it opens up all the security including the infamous s-on to s-off allowing root access.
So for sim unlock go to a unlocker phone shop.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA Premium App
I did not need to go to a shop, I used "gsmliberty.net" (no I am NOT affiliated to this site). Was relatively cheap (first 11€, then they wanted another 7€ to look in some "premium databases"), so 18€ altogether, thats the price other sites want too. Took me about 20 minutes, and the code actually worked - altough the site does not list "Desire S" but just "Desire". Support told me, that would not matter, and it did not. So anyone else looking to unlock a "Desire S", I can recommend gsmliberty.net, worked for me, and the site seems legit. If they can't give you an unlock code, they say they will refund the money, I didn't need that, so I can't tell you if this would work.

does this mean that if i get a code from a mobile operator (i.e.: Three in the UK), I can use the code to make the phone both sim-unlock and s-off?
I asked Three when I ordered my desire S and they would offer a code to unlock the phone for 15 pounds. I don't know if the code will make the phone s-off as well?
Hmmm... if you can flash roms so why u didn't simply flash it with some unlocked rom? otherwise u need to get s-offf first
Oh yes my bad, I misunderstood. Network operators give unlock codes to unlock to other network.
I was referring to what most people wanted to be able to go s-off route.
______________________________
Used Xda premium app on Desire S (s-off and rooted)
yes, I just removed the network lock (so I can use a SIM card that is not from T-Mobile Austria). I already have flashed the "free" RUU, but that obviously does not remove a SIM lock. And since the rooting/S-offing is in early stages I did not want to try that yet
So gsmliberty (and the code you could get from your provider) just remove the network lock, that has nothing to do with S-offing the phone!

Unlock my T-Mobile sensation ?

Is there any method I can do to unlock my phone to use other GSM ? But I don't want pay to the unlock code.
thanks
Yes. You can run alpha rev to a-off your phone and then super cid your phone. Then you can use it on any network. Guides are stickied in the development section.

There any many ways to unlock your HTC Sensation such as,
Software used to unlock
Flash your mobile to unlock
Unlock via cable and so on,..
If you unlock mentioned the above method, You have faced major problems like erased data,Phone software problems,etc,..So safe and easiest way to unlock your mobile by using unlock code.I am not aware of free unlock code for the model you have specified. But you can paid service to get the unlock code. There are many ways to get the code from service provider,Shops and so on..If you cannot get the unlock code from those service providers you may look at legit third party providers like Unlock-Zone.com at low cost.. where they will provide unlock code with free unlocking instructions, then you can use this code to easily unlock your mobile to use any GSM network..

[Q] Can i update my firmware to 2.20

Hi Guys
Sorry for asking the same old question again..
I just got my AT&t HTC One x from US shipped over to India by my cousin.
It is locked to AT&t and i am unable to use a local network sim in it
I know i need to root it and turn S-off in order to unlock it.
The phone is on Firmware 1.85? and i have tried the ways mentioned in xda to root it but i guess when i click "Check for updates" it doesn't work.
So my question is
Can i manually by connecting the phone to Computer, update firmware to 2.20 so that i can root it that way?
And is it possible to unlock the BOOTLOADER w/out rooting so that phone gets unlocked to other carriers?
please help me out guys i have tried everything to make it work.. thank you
Unlocking the bootloader/rooting/dancing in circles WILL NOT sim unlock the phone.
You will need to use an online sim unlocking service (usually about 20 bucks) to get the unlock code
Currently, S-Off has not been achieved for this phone. And as already mentioned, bootloader unlock will not get you SIM unlock, and no free hack/mod method currently exists. You either need to use a paid unlock service, or if your cousin is currently an AT&T account holder, he can ask AT&T for the SIM unlock code (he will need the IMEI number of the phone, and maybe other info).
If you want root and unlocked bootloader for other reasons (flashing custom ROMs and other mods) there is no reason to upgrade to 2.20. Root method exists for 1.85. You need to root, SuperCID, then unlock the bootloader. Then you can install a custom recovery and flash custom ROMs.
Upgrading to 2.20 is not recommended. The 2.20 RUU will upgrade your hboot, which plugs the holes by which kernels and radios can be flashed from recovery. You will have to flash the boot.img separately every time your flash a ROM. No benefit to updating to 2.20, and actually lose ability to do some things.
If you still want root and bootloader unlock, refer to my index for links to root methods, etc.: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671237
And no, bootloader unlock is not possible without root (temp root in case of 2.20) on the AT&T One X.

Thank you for a detailed answer. The reason i though it would unlock the sim was cause i had used other htc phones earlier and when you root them the S-off was achieved so thats why.. anyhow.. thank you for enlightening my dumb bum.
You're not dumb. Just ignorant. Now you have been enlightened. You still have a great phone, you just might have to pay a little bit so you can unlock and use it

The word "ignorant" has always sounded like a pejorative word to me. But I had to look up the definition, figuring maybe I don't really know the literal meaning of the word. Which turned out to be the case. One of the definitions of ignorant is "Lacking knowledge, information, or awareness about something in particular" which seems to exactly fit this situation. I guess I gave myself the English lesson for the day!
Every phone is different, and HTC in particular is always changing around their security measures. So the OP is not dumb in any way, but was just missing some particular pieces of information.

[Q] Sony Xperia U network unlock

It's probably a n00b question so apologies in advance, but if I root / bootloader unlock and Cyanogenmod flash an Android phone that's locked to a certain network, will that network lock be removed along with the official default Android ROM? Or is the lock at something like a BIOS level (or whatever the smartphone equivalent of a BIOS is)?
I bought a pre-unlocked Xperia U about a year ago that I've been using on Vodafone and had to return it under warranty (got stuck in a boot loop despite the fact that it's totally unmodified, not even rooted, honest!) and the replacement they sent back is locked to Virgin Mobile. They're telling me that the phone I sent them was originally sold to Virgin in France and locked to Virgin before I bought it, and that they've therefore fulfilled their responsibility. So I'm just wondering now about unlocking, and I've always been curious anyway about how / if bootloader unlocking, custom ROMs etc are related to network unlocking.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide with this!

well u can unlock it.. by getting the code from sony..
It will also unlock the ph..'s Sim lock..
Or ask the sony officialy for this.. they'll provide u every info required.
But unlocking the bl will do the job for you to be sim free
But do double check this from google too.
Also before unlocking pls make a backup as it will wipe everything from the device.
Just unlock and don't flash any custom kernels. If you want to then do it carefully pls with a backup and a copy of flashable stock rom.
Flash custom roms based on stock kernels
Hope this will answer the query..
Thanks for your reply! I spoke to Sony and they just told me to contact the network (which have done and they're wanting to charge me a fee to provide the unlock code). So to clarify, if I root the phone and unlock the bootloader, the network SIM lock will also be removed?

Sorry the code is this
*#*#7378423#*#*
check the sim lock counters should be zero in all..
if zero then once u can try googling the code for unlocking if they work then it's great.
if not then it would be better to pay them for this as its a bit risky..
and are u using virgin's network??
As it's cheaper what they areaskingfor i guess.
