Dolphin Mini 2.2 or Opera Mini Browser - Android Apps and Games

I know there are threads out there comparing Opera Vs. Dolphin.... but none were comparing the mini version...any thoughts?

Boat browser is still better. Faster and lightweight.

I would suggest dolfin mini its really cool and it has a lot of features

I have used every browser there is for Android and I stick with Dolphin Mini in black. Fast, lightweight and everything just works.

Opera mini is the fastest hands down.

+1 for Dolphin Mini, was using Dolphin HD but gave me too much problems so i loaded Dolphin Mini and it is working great, like it much better than Opera Mini.

Boat browser mini blows them both away!

Same here I tried them both.

Umm have any of you seen how big even Opera mini is? Opera mini is no faster than Dolphin mini. If its faster on your phone then something is wrong with your phone.

Does it support flash? Otherwise of no use for me.

Think you're thinking of opera Mobile.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD A9191 using xda premium

Yes your right I was thinking of Opera mobile. Does Opera mini have flash? If it doesn't then its useless for me also! Dolphin mini does flash without even a hiccup.
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium

Also what does size have to do with how fast it loads and renders pages?

Opera compresses my images, and dolphin browser's scrolling lags on my Galaxy Tab. For some reason, only the stock Android browser produces super-smooth scrolling. Everywhere else on my Galaxy Tab running stock, scrolling and performance lags.

Opera is considerably better and I can actually download from blackboard instead of a htm file.
Sent from my R800x using Tapatalk

Opera mobile not mini. Mini tries to compress pages before you get them, but with mobile you actually get the file you want(not like an htm as the poster before me said.
Dolphin is okay.. but opera mobile works better in every way I can see. I just don't see how you can compare.. but please do. What COULD make dolphin better?

Dolphin mini is much better for me because of it's nice system of gestures.

For me opera is the best choice

Best browser hands down. I was using Miren as my go to but the newest version of opera is great.
That's opera mobile, not mini.

Well said. I keep Opera Mobile as my backup browser at the moment. I've been using it since my Symbian days, as it easily outperformed my webkit browser on my E-Series and N-Series Nokia phones. I'm glad to see that it runs even smoother on the Inspire.

I use the stock webkit browser if I'm only jumping online for a minute or two, which is all the time I have when I'm at work.

I agree Opera by far is the best i've used. I used to only use it for downloads but since giving it a try a few days ago i'm blown away. lol
Interesting. I used Opera Mobile for a while when it was still in beta and I quickly switched to something else. I still have it installed, but my main browser right now is Miren. I'll have to give Opera Mobile another look see...

Give it another whirl. I was using Miren as well and I find the newest opera to be smoother with some better features.

Opera Mini

Newest opera is awesome
Makes it coming fast
From what I gather it uses gpu acceleration
Only complaint I have is it kills itself if I exit to my home screen or switch to another app which is annoying when I want to multitask

Too bad it's not a webkit browser. How can you stand using a mobile browser that sucks at rendering websites? Load yahoo.com on Opera or Mini then use the stock browser. Try MSN.com too. Try my site. I used Opera on my HTC vision for a day before I uninstall it. It is fast to move it up and down in and out on a website but apart from that

Best web browser to replace the crappy one that comes with the SGS4G?
Thanks...

I use dolphin hd.
Tried skyfire, but once I removed the stock browser I couldn't use bookmarks any more.
Also, i love the gesture feature on dolphin.

I personally like opera mobile web browser, and with newest flash it has flash support. Pretty snappy too
I have tested the speed load on pages on every browser for Android and found Skyfire to be the fastest so that's what i am rocking for the moment

I hate to be the 4th different browser lol.... but Miren is my choice browser.. its faster and simpler to use than all the rest

I like Opera. For me it is the most like a "real" web browser and beats the stock web browser on the phone by a mile!
So far, none "wow" me:
Stock browser -- can't exit, four-window limit, can't easily clear "private data"
Dolphin -- cookies don't keep when screen locks, have to re-authenticate
Miren -- runs a background process for no good reason, haven't played with it much
Firefox -- seems very slow, even though AdBlock Plus is sorely missed in the others

Agreed.
I'm running Dolphin though, cause it honestly has a balanced featureset and I'm happy with the speeds.
Mini opera. fast and menu are easy to navigate.

Personally I use Opera mobile it's just very snappy starts fast and it seems to have an adblocker built in which is very nice. The UI in my opinion is better than any other browser on the android marketplace.
I have tried all the browsers except Skyfire so I have no opinion on that.
Mirren-I didn't like it just wasn't as snappy seemed to be slower than opera.
Firefox-Is just embarrassing I love the desktop version but they have a long way to go for the mobile version. It starts slow like 15 seconds to finish starting, no flash support you have to download a plugin, and overall is very slow.
Dolphin- I love this browser and it would be my second choice for you to try out. I would go with Dolphin mini since it's smaller. I didn't really notice any difference between Dolphin HD and Dolphin mini besides Dolphin HD supporting add ons.
and does anyone know the difference between Opera mobile and Opera mini browser?
Thanks everyone for your input.
.. +1 to all of you... I'm going to go with Opera just because I've use it on my HTC Touch Pro 2... and the stuck one would be better if it would let you delete the pre installed bookmarks...

I live by dolphin HD. It seems fast enough and I use some add ons and love the bookmark bar. I love the tab browsing better than I've seen in others.
Opera is huge app size and noticeably slow in my opinion.

Replace browser, not another browse app

Is there any browser that replaces the stock browser all together, so when I get an email it opens in the replacement browser. One that also has a frigging exit button so the next time I open it its not at the last page I was at. One when I open it it goes to my home page.

Download Opera Mobile. It has an exit button but just remember to clear defaults from your stock browser so you can set opera as the default when prompted.

It's what I replaced the stock browser with. I couldn't stand how slow the stock browser was, especially with the checkboarding. Opera is my preferred browser of choice. I suggest trying it out.

I meant which one is better the mobile or mini browser? The mini has 3x the # of downloads. I've tried Firefox. That is a great one but its so slow and feels like a resource hog.

Haven't used mini, but I absolutely love the normal one. Highly recommended.
Opera Mobile is an excellent choice. Mini is great as well. While Opera Mobile uses more resources (but has an exit button), it is also better at handling more intense web pages. I have both. I use Mini when I'm checking mobile sites, and the other when I'm browsing desktop sites. I also have Dolphin HD and Miren. Both of which are also great.
I was using skyfire for a bit but I can't stand downloading htm files when I'm trying to download something. I just installed opera but its not seeing all the bookmarks I have in bookmark home app.

Opera, confirm exit after hitting the exit button. Splash screen... really? Annoyed

I keep going back to Dolphin HD. Guestures, tab options andbeing able to "swipe out" bookmarks and plug-ins do it for me.
Opera should be fine, no problems with that.
Was using Miren Browser but I wanted the slide out menus like Firefox has, so switched to Dolphin HD (because FF has no Flash).
Tried them all out and so far it's Dolphin FTW!!!!
I like maxthon. Just my opinion

Dolphin for me as well. But it's a matter of taste, you need to try them out and see which one suites you.
Dolphin HD is the best by far. I tried all of them and Chrome is too featureless right now, also does not support Flash.
Dolphin HD It's fast and I just like all the customizations it offers
I'd say Chrome
If Flash isn't a need, then Chrome is pretty awesome (or Fire Fox, or Opera), but I need flash, so I use Dolphin (mini on the phone, HD on the tablet).
Puffin is actually a pretty good browser!
