Hi all
I would like to install the new HBOOT http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236890 and the new sense 3.0 rom V0.7 from proxuser...
But i'm not really shore what to do first... can someone help me??
my phone info is as it follows:

Recovery - 4EXTRecovery v2.1.3 RC2
my rom is rooted stock
i have already read the threads but i'm a little confused about what I should do first????
thanks in advance!!!!!
First job of the day is make a nandroid backup in recovery.
Go to recovery and install hboot.img from sdcard;
Flash PG88IMG.zip from bootloader menu;
Flash rom from recovery.
Obviously before you start, place hboot.img, PG88IMG.zip and the v7 rom .zip on the sdcard.
If any of these terms don't mean anything then you should maybe read around some to familiarise yourself with what's involved.
Peace
Sent from my phone
thanks
yes I can understand the terms
already backed up with 4EXTRecovery..
my only confusion was what i must do first lol
in the new hboot thread i can see some adb commands oand other stuff that we must do but it was before proxuser made is V0.7 rom...
that's what is confusing me... what is the most up to date procedure
i download new Hboot from the link in the thread and install it from the sd using adb and the dd commands right??
then reboot bootloader from adb ... and install the PG88ÎMG.zip... then install the rom... (should i wipe anything???)
thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes full backup, then full data/cache/dalvik wipe before install.
Connect to pc with usb - charge only.
Then dd command to install hboot.img.
Then reboot to bootloader and install PG88....
Then rom. The new version has the stock kernel so no need to install that separately.
Hope this helps. All the steps are in the original thread, but I admit after a while the responses/questions get a bit confusing & difficult to follow!
Peace

You don't need new hboot there's a version without need of it and it works perfectly.

I believe that you may need to be in recovery and from there you can mount the SD card?

now fighting with the error on proxuser rom for new hboot...
Is it the error where you need to replace the meta-inf folder? Follow the instructions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17220403
This worked for me. Open the Rom zip, but don't extract it. You can still delete and replace the necessary folder, also I never got asked anything about permissions etc.
Cheers

Rather then go back wards why not go forwards?
Be careful not to quickly take out and replace your battery
Look at the INDEX sticky thread in the development Section http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1146601, there you should find
1) EXT4 recovery
2) pre rooted stock roms, use the latest version
(RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.47.401.4_Radio_20.28I.30.085 AU_3805.06.02.03_M_release_199410_signed_prerooted)
Download both to you PC then copy to your sd card.
Boot into recovery and first flash EXT4 zip file to install the new recovery
Then from recovery wipe cache, dalvik cache, data and system.
Then flash the ROM zip file and hopefully this should solve your problem
First boot will take longer than usual
I'm also curious as to why your bootloader screen days "meadow" I've never seen that before.

Thank you for your prompt response!
After I had written my post yesterday I took the battery out of my unit and put it in again and there after, the total death now I can not turn it on. so there is probably nothing more than to bring it back to warranty?

Bugger, when you say won't turn on, exactly what happens or doesn't happen?
Are you sure that the battery is charged (daft question) but had I ask
plug it in and see if the led lights

When I press the power button nothing happens .. no light in the LED phone is 80% power remaining.
I sent it for repair on warranty :-(

You need to follow the guides shown in this thread.
Look for this "How To: S-Off your device with Revolutionary: S-OFF & Recovery Tool" part of the guide.
Good luck....update this thread if you have any issues or problems....but first there is a lot of software that you'll need to download and some reading to do.

OK if i understand it right i wil do like this.
S-OFF your phone using Windows:
1. Download Revolutionary tool for Windows from http://revolutionary.io/ (Keep the browser open)
2. Extract the zip file to a new folder.
3. Connect phone to your computer and make sure that Debugging Mode is enabled on your phone.
4. Open the new folder and right click on "revolutionary.exe" and select run as administrator.
5. Follow steps from Step 11 above.
11. It'll provide a key. Go back to the browser window where you downloaded Revolutionary tool - there's a form to fill out. Type in the key. It'll generate a second key. Type that key into the Terminal.
12. Make sure it says that everything is successful. It'll ask if you want to flash Clockwork. Type in "Y".
13. Once it shows success, reboot phone.
And root it hwit Gingerbreak right ?
Now you have CWM, so you don't have to use Gingerbreak, just flash su (http://goo-inside.me/superuser/su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip) from recovery. You may also want to flash 4EXT recovery (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1130004) that will replace the one installed by Revolutionary.

CWM = Clock Work Mod, which is the type of Custom RECOVERY that we all use that enables us to flash custom ROMS etc, I'd recommend that you upgrade to the the EXT4 RECOVERY which is based on CWM but is more user friendly and constantly being improved.

For example two people have suggested that you now install EXT4 over CWM (RECOVERY) have you done this?

Check for super user, simply download ROM Manager (free) from android market and that will tell you.
A Backup (or a Nandroid backup or as you'll here it referred to) can be taken two ways:
1) from ROM Manager - easiest option (as it then boots device into recovery, backs up phone and then reboots again)
2) from recovery (EXT4) you need to take manually Backup option (although is good to know how to do this way)
Using both methods the backups will be stored on your SD card in clockworkmod/backup directory within date&time stamped folders

Okay, i wanted to download the ELEGANCIA ICS ROM but before i could i had to download a FIRMWARE PACKAGE(or just firmware). So i downloaded the Firmware from 3.32 RUU which is for the ELEGANCIA ROM...By the way, I DID THIS BEFORE I INSTALLED the ELEGANCIA ROM(i hadn't downloaded it yet..elegancia rom) I followed the instructions how to flash it. It said it would tell you what to do next..so i did it. Went into Recovery and flashed through sd and installed the ZIP file and when it asked if i wanted to udate it i pressed Yes...and then this is what HAPPENs NEXT.
It ask if i want to update and I do and then it says:
Parsing...[ SD ZIP]
[1] BOOTLOADER - Ok
Update Complete...
Press POWER to reboot.
So i press power and all it does is: BOOTS up and then TURNS OFF
It continues to do that...I believe it's called BOOT LOOPING.?
I pull out the battery and press VOL. Down plus POWER at the same tiime and it takes me back to the WHITE SCREEN and I see FASTBOOT, RECOVERY, FACTORY RESET, SIMLOCK and IMAGE CRC but does NOT let me choose. It automatically goes to HBOOT.
I have to pull battery or it will continue to BOOT itself on and off again. Even with the phone off, I connect it to my usb connection on my laptop and my device does not show on my laptop. Both the usb connection and usb cord are working properly.
That is my BIG PAIN in MY ASS right now!!
Can someone please help me.?
You will have to make your phone Super-CID or download the correct firmware package that fit your CID.
Super-CID makes you able to flash any firmware package etc.

You stated that your ROM was GB and that's not supported on the 3.32 F/W.
Download your ICS ROM and mike's SuperWipe script from the ARHD thread.
Copy them to the SDcard via the PC and a USB <-> microSD adapter.
Delete the PG58IMG.zip file on the SDcard.
Boot the phone into Bootloader, get into Recovery, SuperWipe and flash the ROM.

Don't bother restoring to stock, waste of effort.
Read my previous post.
1. Anyway, did the ICS F/W update work ?
2. Is the PG58IMG.zip file still on the SDcard ? If so rename /delete it.
3. Get your chosen ICS ROM and mike's SuperWipe script onto the SDcard.
4. Go into recovery and run the Superwipe script then flash the ROM.
Steps 2 & 3 you'll need to use a PC to do these with a USB <-> microSD adapter.
I am assuming that there wasn't a typo in your original post in that you actually have HBOOT 1.27.0000, this is ICS ONLY firmware and GB won't work on it.
BTW what recovery have you got ? CWM or 4EXT ?

I just tried it and the phone is ON NOW BUT it is just on the White screen with the Green HTC letters. It has been on for 15 minutes already...By the way, I DO NOT have a microSD adapter. I did it by getting into CWM and going to Recovery and going into mounts and then i mounted it and was able to install it like that. Is that the reason why it is still on the White HTC screen? Do I pull the Battery?
Another thing I still haven't flashed my ICS Rom because when i DID Mike's SuperWipe it did it's thing and just automattically went to the White HTC screen.
No, there is NO TYPO, that is exactly what it says. I believe i still have CWM and I remember tthat I had 4ext to.

So precisely what have you got on the SDcard at the moment ?
PG58IMG.zip ?
SuperWipe.zip (or what ever the name is) ?
ICS ROM "zip" file ?
Edit: If you used the superwipe script you have no OS on the phone and will NEED to flash an ICS ROM through recovery. It shouldn't have gone to the white HTC screen just returned to CWM. If you don't have an ICS ROM on the phone's SDcard you can try adb pushing it or possibly use another device that has microUSB capability.

What I have now is Superwipe.zip and ICS ROM.zip. I deleted the PG58IMG that I had on the SD Card before I did the SUPERWIPE.
I pulled out the battery and got into recovery and installed from sdcard and I went to install ICS ROM and it started but then it said ABORTED. Tried again and said the same thing.
Should I try another ICS ROM?
What about not having the PG58IMG?

Use a memory card reader to put stock rom on sdcard and whatever else u need to revert. Flash that and you're done i guess..

Those Posts both don't really help me, as i cant use fastboot with a broken USB port
E1:My idea was to create a flashable zip which would just copy the contents of the original hboot thing and replace whats on the phone. any advice on which partition i had to use as of?
E2:Okay, so i got what i need for the cwm-flashable zip with another hboot image, but from what i also got now just changin the hboot doesnt lock the bootloader, so how would i do this without using fastboot or adb or an official ruu? reminder: revolutionary s-off

I'm so sorry. Had completely forgotten about the USB problem! But your only way out is an RUU man... and that can't be used without a working USB, i'm afraid. My understanding kinda hits a brick wall here. I hope somebody more knowledgeable can help you out on this one. Have you tried contacting amidabuddha on PM?
He seems to be very knowledgeable about this stuff.
Best of luck... and sorry i couldn't be of more help.
Yeah i guessed that would be what the end of the story. ;/
ima try some other stuff, contact amidabuddha and if i find a way ill share for sure
either find some one else with same phone or take your phone to a phone shop and get them to charge the battery in another device
You shouldn't risk a flash with minimal battery as this could kill device

Thanks for the trust, but unfortunately I am not aware of a method that can change the bootloader without USB connection. That's why I always recommend hboot change after Revolutionary S-OFF just in case something goes wrong...
But if you can find a flashable zip with Engineering bootloader and it works just put rom. zip renamed as PG88IMG on the SDcard afterwards , reboot to bootloader and you are done

The engineering bootloader is that eng hboot?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113820
Found this one, but flashing the pg88img.zip doesnt work because bootloader is skipped
do you think, getting a stock hboot image and flashing it per dd would work?
or flashing this one up there per dd?
so it would be like flashing stock (eng) hboot and afterwards using an ruu rom.zip to restore original rom?
Yes of course I am losing my touch recently
dd should work perfectly, just install terminal emulator on your phone and do the commands from it. Be very careful not to make a typing mistake.
0)The hboot from the thread you linked is the one that you need
1) Extract the hboot_blablabla.img from the PG88IMG.zip and rename it to hboot.img
2) copy it to SDcard via cardreader and PC
3) open Terminal emulator
4) type
Code:
su
dd if=/sdcard/hboot.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
if no errors reboot to bootloader and check the hboot version it must be 0.98.2000
Then run the RUU on your PC and do not close the first screen, search on the C:/ drive of your PC for rom.zip. Copy it to another location and close RUU. Rename it to PG88IMG.zip
Transfer it to your SDcard, reboot the phone to bootloader and follow the instructions. Be sure that you use the right RUU for your brand/region (it has to be the same or higher version as when it was when you S-OFFed by Revolutionary.)
If you make the steps right you should be complete Stock.
Good luck
Edit: ben_pyett's advice above is worth following too
Okay, thanks. I'm trying to get the ruu right now, but the filefactory links from the thread here suck REAL hard b/c i dont get a free slot, and the other mirror i found was a rapidshare mirror which also sucks w/o a premium account. ;( hate that, its much easier with my lg o2x.
E: Finally got a free slot on filefactory, download is finished in ~1hr. :>
Gonna mow some lawns till then. xD

See, I said you'd find a way, didn't I??
My faith in you is well placed my friend...!!
Oh COME ON. Can't install terminal emulator or anything else from the market. but i got the original RUU which i installed before using revolutionary, so ill try and install the pg88img directly now, hoping that it helps. ._.
Bootloader is bypassed...im turning crazy here! gonna try it per adb over network now i gues...
Oh wait... i guess i just broke it by overwriting su stuff... its gettin worse heeeere, gotta find an eng hboot over 6.98.1002 now... any1 knows of something like that?
E: cant even create a flashable zip anymore now... crappedy crapcrap.
E2: Last update: FINALLY FIXXXXXXED! I got it freakin fixed! found this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17213055&postcount=49
The PG88IMG.zip overwrites the revolutionary hboot with an eng hboot, and that eng hboot is replaceable by a stock one. I'm SO HAPPY that i finally fixed it after failing so hard. Thanks for all your help, guys. you're awesome.
Glad to hear that you have managed!
I was curious why the first PG88IMG flashing attempt was not successful and compared the two files. It appeared that the one from the "ENG hboot is here" thread has an img.img extention. Probably this difference in the filename causes the preflashing check failure. Will have this in mind in future

I have the same problem on my phone ie usb brick. I used revolutionary to s off and then upgraded to the newest hboot myself without using eng bootloader. But I'm not sure If I can use the method prescribed above on my phone since I'm on hboot 2002.
You guys know of something else i can try ??
Thanks!

Now on topic: you don't need to re flash any bootloader just put the PG88IMG (renamed rom.zip) taken from the latest proper RUU for your brand/region on your SDcard, reboot to bootloader and follow the instructions. Then you should be back to a Stock system

Tried HTC One X All-In-One Toolkit it said done but S is still on

with all in one tool kit you won't bring S-OFF
from this thread try to flash this recovery.it is better than cwm
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861 (only step 2)
I used HTC One X toolkit, but it wouldn't S-Off as I had hboot 1.29.0000, therefore couldn't use revolutionary method. In this instance you can s-off using a paperclip, some insulating tape, and running the ControlBear software. To find out how to do this, type the following into YouTube:
JuopunutBear S-Off HTC Sensation.
... That will show you how to achieve S-Off which will unprotected the nand storage to write enabled so you can flash a new ROM.
See JuopunutBear website for instructions. You can find it by typing:
unlimited.io
... Into google.
or you can use the guide from our forum in dev section

because you are S-ON when flashing a rom it doesn't write the boot partition by itself
the only thing you have to do is enable smartflash from 4ext recovery and after flash the rom
or
you can follow extra 1 step in the link i provided you in my first post
Stuck

Done the wire trick, got it after a few attempts recovery screen now says
revolutionary
Pyramid pvt ship s off RL
Hboot 1.27.1100
Radio 11 24a 3504 31 H
now asking for update I ok that phone eventually boots up then says unexpected UI error and screen goes blank. I cant get anything transferred to the phone as the pc isnt seeing it
Is there anyway to get a recovery on the phone so I can load a rom.
Juopunutbear backed up my images but have no idea how to get them back. Before the wire clip trick the phone had Super-Threading-Rom-v1.2.1 4ext recovery it seemed better than my old clockwork recovery
If this isnt bricked what rom would you suggest and how do i flash it
Thanks

Latest 4eXT Recovery Touch as PG88IMG incase anyone wants/needs to use it For s-off devices. Download the PG88IMG.zip file, put it on the root of your sdcard (Not in a folder) then boot in to bootloader, bootloader will find the zip and ask to update recovery, press volume UP for yes and your done. Just reboot.
Edit: has been confirmed to work with s-on with unlocked bootloader (htcdev)

yh was thinking that but u can flash "recovery.img" with s-on unlocked bootloader so maybe it could work. i would try but downgraded then s-off me phone.

I didn't try with this file, but when I was on CM10.1 I tried the method you described, but it didn't work. The only way to install a custom rec if you're S-ON is via fastboot. This is my experience.
Cheers
On S-OFF the method with the file on sd-card and the bootloader to find it - it works.

Hi there,
I'm new to HTC DS. Tonight i unlocked trough htcdev.com, but still have S-ON with HBOOT 2.00.0002
After unlocking i installed 4ext.
But for cm11.0 i needed an newer 4ext.
So i installed it with your guidance. And it worked flawlessly!
Only thing is, that after a reboot it again finds the p88 file and it wants to update again.
I don't know how I overcame this, but after three times i got into touch recovery.
Flashed cm11 and all went fine.
Yh u must delete it off ur sdcard r it will ask to update everytime
Or just rename it

I would urgently need 4ext in the newest Version for my HTC Sensation.
Sadly your zip isn`t working.
Also not if I rename the File that my Sensation Bootloader detects this as Update.
Can you help me?
I wiped the ROM - so right now I don`t have a chance to install 4ext via a File .apk

Sorry for late reply, it doesnt detect or work coz this file is for the Desire S
Anyway download the one below, PG58IMG.zip, i just made it for you, its for the sensation and is latest 4ext recovery v1.0.0.6 RC2
Everyone else, file attached (PG58IMG) is for the sensation only!!!
Thank you very much jmcclue!
Maybe it would help if you could write a short Tutorial how you can generate this zip file for a specific Mobile Phone
I am very interested in it.

It depends really, u need to be s-off to use it and each htc phone has different file name,
htc desire - PB99IMG
htc desire s - PG88IMG
htc sensation\XE - PG58IMG
so if u extract that file ul see "android-info.txt + "recovery.img" and thats all u need. Take the recovery.img from the device u want to use it on and then get the android-info.txt file and use 7zip to zip the 2 files together and name it, for example PG58IMG and ur done. Simple really. Just make sure that the recovery is named recovery.img for it to work.
sounds great - thank you for your help

There is a newer recovery out RC3, so once u flash the rom, download the 4ext recovery updater app then update ur recovery. Il update my thread later sometime.
