[APP/MOD][Nov 19th][1.0.3] DCIM compliant Camera - Android Apps and Games

2012-08-25: Breaking news - DCIM Helper is here.
This means Camera DCIM is now obsolete and you're advised to migrate to DCIM Helper.
It is a free app for everyone.
There are a couple of extra features (currently just one...) which require a donation to be enabled. Wait, don't get mad!
If DCIM Helper detects you're running Camera DCIM, you will be recognized as a "Special donor" and you'll have everything unlocked. :victory:
For further information, you can read here.
Do you hate when iPhoto won't show the pictures you shot with your Android device, but it works fine with your friend's HTC Sense device? Why would that be?!?
That's simply because Google's camera does not comply with the DCIM standard, used by every other Digital Camera in the world (and HTC Sense does too!)
With this app, your Android device will be able to.
FEATURES:
- DCIM compliant digital camera
- Full Gingerbread Camera, as of latest source code (Android 2.3.5)
- Camera DCIM can be installed together with the official Android Camera, no overlapping issues!
- Camcorder app has been unhidden and can be choosen from the application launcher (check first screenshot)
- Support for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X hosts (don't worry about Thumbds.db, ._IMG0001.jpg files and so on!)
- "Automagically" converts existing picture files in Camera dir to the DCIM naming.
SOURCE CODE:
Google has been notified of this issue on June 2009 but has ignored it.
I've submitted a fix for the official Android Camera on July 9th, 2011 with no reply. If you are able to build your own ROM, I welcome you to download the fix and apply it to your source code! HTC has built a DCIM compliant camera, after all.
If you don't know how to build your ROM, or just want it hassle-free, then this is your app, less than $1 away from you.
In the spirit of Open Source, all the modified source code (in addition to the original fix) is available online to whoever wishes to check it out.

No reply from Google, but it was partially my mistake: in order to submit code to Google, the issue tracker is not the right place. However, until the source code comes back online I can't send a patch to the right place.
No reply from CyanogenMod, I even cloned the repository from github and pushed the patches, no activity at all.

- Attempted to work around a bug reported on the Market.
The bug was happening on a device without an SDCARD (Nexus S), I am not sure the fix will work, code should have worked from the beginning.

Fixing the AOSP camera app is nice. Do Google accept improvements into the official code?
I sure hope someone will add tap-to-focus to both the still and video camera. I'd also like to have tap-to-focus working while recording video because continuous AF can sometimes ruin some shots by introducing several seconds of blurry footage, or sometimes won't AF again while in an unfocused state.
iOS lets you tap to focus while recording video, making continous AF a non issue.

Interesting. How does this compare to MIUI camera on AOSP ROMs?

I'm not familiar w/ the MIUI Camera, but it's part of the MIUI ROM, not of AOSP ROMs. This is the very same source code of AOSP Camera w/ the DCIM patch and some minor bug-fixes.

People have extracted the MIUI camera and made flashable apks for AOSP ROMs.

2011-11-19 - 1.0.3
- Fixed "issue" with sdcard/_externalSD directory used in LG phones. Thanks to Danford for reporting the issue!

Off the market again?

I am really interested in getting this working with ICS 4.0.3 & 4.0.4. It really is a pain in the ass when you try to sync with iPhoto or other similar applications due to Android completely ignoring the DCIM specification... I mean, I guess they tried due to the fact that they use DCIM as the location to store the photos but completely ignore the format in which to use.
Would anyone be up for helping? I am sure this patch could still be applied to the ICS camera source code.

When ICS was released I tried updating the app to the new camera only to discover that Google changed lots of components (no biggie) and used private/unreleased code (wtf?) so I could not update the app.
I'll give it another go, however I'm moving to another app (which I have been developing since ages - well, I have been not developing since ages) which can work with every camera app on the Market.
PRO: you can use any camera you want, especially since Android base camera sucks big time. It's really crappy.
PRO: it works with stupid makers like LG or Samsung on devices which lack a real SD card.
CON: it's an external app, so if the device is under stress it could kill the app. Or if I release an update, you have to manually start it again by hand (or reboot the device).

NOTE: Team EOS, it’s members, friends, dogs, cats, and associates are in no way responsible for any loss of data or device functionality. Use this at your own risk!
--
A quick note on Nightlies: NIGHTLIES ARE DEVELOPMENT BUILDS. They are automatically generated every now and then, and represent the compilation of the latest commits to the code repository. While every effort is made ensure that the commits that are accepted are stable and do not have a negative impact to the overall performance and function of the builds it is not possible to test every aspect of a commits impact to the overall repo prior to it’s inclusion in a given build. As a result it is entirely possible that instabilities may be introduced as a result of a given days commits. That is the nature of the nightly system, and the risk that is taken using the latest code changes to the project.
EOS is an AOSP based rom. It is developed and maintained by Team EOS and is the culmination of our own in house development efforts.
Team EOS Nightly builds: http://goo-inside.me/devs/teameos/roms/eos3/nightlies/tf101/
G-Apps Package
Because this is an AOSP based rom Google Apps are not included in the base rom. To install Google Apps please flash the following package after installing the base rom:
Temporary Gapps package gapps

Kernel:
Kernel Note: This rom is currently using the stock kernel, so you can find the sources from aosp.

Installation Notes:
These builds are designed to be installed from your favorite recovery.
Perform a full wipe (read Factory Reset) prior to installing this over ANY ICS or JB based rom.
BUGS!
If you find strange or otherwise unexplained errors please report them here: https://bugs.teameos.org/ Please include logcats and as thorough a description of the issue and what lead up to the issue as possible. With out this we will be unable to track down these errors.

Netflix showing black means an issue with video decoding i believe
Checked camera and YouTube, the same errors me and rayman33 had. Yet in CM10 it works somehow. Need to investigate because I don't see any difference.

yeah a lot of cards use gps
Yup, Camera and HW video decoding aren't working yet, neither is GPS.
Google Now sorta works but when you opt into Google Cards it breaksit. Probably be fixed as mentioned already when GPS is.
Ok i Tried the rom and Plan on sticking with it....its Useable
Google Voice Search Works with out any issues however google Now FCs
The sound can be worked around with Volume Plus Configs
Chrome Works but has some issues
Graphic Performance is increased [More Fps In Dead Trigger with Tegra 3 Fx] almost no lag
Software Decoding works so videos can still be watched till the next nightly fix
Overall UI Performance and consistancy is Phenomenal ! [Just Don't Change the launcher ]
USB Joysticks Work on Games
USB NTFS Drives are Unmountable [PLEASE FIX THIS!!!]
There can be a 100 things more to talk about but to sum it up, the rom is great, just wait for some fixes and updates and thiss rom will be on top of your list!

[ROM][14-02-13][Flinny] Andromadus - AOSP4.2.2[9]

Andromadus - Test Builds
To start with here you will find test versions of ROMs built by me from the Andromadus github repo http://github.com/Andromadus, think of them along the same concept as nightly builds just not every night These are development ROM's, if you want to run bleeding edge development ROM's and at least know how to use adb and logcat then you might find something of interest here. If you require something that works 100% of the time all of the time then this might not be for you. That said you can always give it a try and if it doesn't work restore your previous nandroid backup!
What IS Andromadus?
Initially it was a group of people who got together to make ICS work on the HTC Desire Z because nobody else seemed to want to support devices with physical hardware keyboards/trackpads. Whilst the idea stays the same It has grown slightly to support some other hardware and some of the work we have done is now used in many other devices. Andromadus builds of CM10 or CM10.1 are basically CM sources with a few additional tweaks or additions to support our phones.
1. New versions will be added as and when I feel there are enough changes to warrant one, don’t ask when the next version is coming.
2. If we decide to release a "Stable" version of these roms they will be published in another Andromadus thread.
Direct all your queries with release versions to that thread and in the same vain do not discuss these releases anywhere but here.
3. I will do as best I can to answer questions but if you don't get an answer from me I'm sure somebody else will be along to help. Help each other and I have more time to spend fixing things!
4. Don't ask for what's changed since the previous version, have a look at the recent submits on the Andromadus github if you want to know or wait for the mini changelogs when I post a new release.
5. If there is something in particular to test it'll be mentioned!
6. As always if you didn't wipe between installations then at least verify that the problem exists on a clean install before posting here. Nandroid/superwipe/install/check at the end of the day you can always restore your nandroid if the problem is reproducible on a clean installation. If you can't be bothered to try this then I really can't be bothered to try to help you :>
7. All that said ensure you make a nandroid/backup before hand. I take no responsibility for what you do to your phone with these ROM.
8. Whilst I can't stop you I would rather these builds were not used as a base for any ROM/MOD/ETC. The source is all available if you want to do your own builds with which you can do whatever you like.
9. Tell us what works/what's worse/what's better but don't ***** when something breaks or isn't fixed yet, report it and move on.
10. Sometimes people forget that we do this for fun, for ourselves, and sometimes your super important issue is way down on our personal list of things to be fixed.
If you ignore any of the above you will in turn be ignored.
Now that's all out of the way as always have fun
As usual you need to flash the ROM then GAPPS.
Checkout http://andromadus.flinny.org for links/files/changelog's
This a team/community effort, I'll not list everyone who has helped along the way here that list is in the beta thread but I will say thanks to all of them again and obviously anyone that has been missed.
Reserved
Build 5 was pretty stable, interested to see what has changed.
Tapatalked from Desire S running Andromadus
Build 5 was first build i used of AOSP 4.2 and it was fantatic experience, i never expected 4.2 to work so flawlessly on desire s so fast after release. And to be honest i did not see many bugs.
So i flashed build 6 and i was not disapointed, as you said you will release only stable and advanced releases and it was the point with 4.2 build6.
It would be nice to see official changelog, but i have noticed some nice little resize job done and few small glitches fixed.
I just found one thing i dont know how to fix. On android keyboard swype Lithuanian dictionary doesnt work. It is not in official list until i refresh it and then it pops up and i install it ( it worked well with build 5) and with build 6 it just doesnt work, and when i return to dictionary list there is no Lithuanian dictionary again .
Sensors are not working properly. When i make a call, screen turns off even when i don't block the sensors and it stays that way till the time call is going
Sorry man posted it in wrong thread. Its for andromadus cm 10.1 but do look into the matter as its really is irritating

Yeah, that is for devices with On Screen buttons (Galaxy Nexus or Nexus 4/7/10). For those, the buttons are replaced with a dotted circle on the lockscreen, swiping up from which opens Google Now. Since AOSP doesn't officially support any device without hardware buttons, Google probably thought that it would be best to remove the option from the lockscreen, since swiping from the buttons opens that anyways
Trouble with bluetooth
Hi,
Thanks for your work on this rom!
I would like to report an issue with the Bluetooth functionality in this (and earlier) versions of this rom. In my circumstance it doesn't produce an error of crash.
For example. My phone is connected with a handsfree carkit (parrot) and when entering the car it recognizes the phone, asks for pin code and 'gets connected'. The problem is that the phone is not visible (as usual) on the handsfree device and the overall functionality does not work.
If I can be of any assistance in this I'll gladly be of help.
Thanks for your work!
Well Google switched the bluetooth plugin in 4.2 from bluez to bluedroid. It has been causing issues across devices, even Nexus 7 has issues. As Flinny said we can't do much unless someone upstream fixes it.

Flinny, almost everything works great.
Issues I found (AOSP build 6):
- laggy Camera animations (not very important, maybe it cannot be better),
- high Android OS battery usage (battery really lasts less),
- dictionaries other than English doesn't work with swype keyboard feature,
- some people wrote about bluetooth audio issues.
ROM is very smooth, hope it will be smooth in next builds. Great work!

camera animations do lag sometimes and some pictures you take tend to not show up in gallery after you have taken them.
As for battery all i can say is :highfive: battery is almost same in all 4.0/4.1/ 4.2 roms AND it is not at all bad here. I managed to get from full charge(100%) to 81% in 30 hours. I doubt many roms can do something like this in low-med usage.
Other then that this rom is my personal favorite until someone release 4.2 rom with better theme or perfomance.
The only thing i lack in here is conservative cpu governor and maybe little undervoltage.

Anyone else have an issue where Calendar just wont sync at all to any Google account? I don't have the options to sync calendars under any of the google accounts I've set up on the device. Tried reflashing, clearing app data etc.
Apart from that, great rom. Super nice battery life.

Clean or dirty install?
By dirty install remove Google accound(s) and then add your accound(s) again.
Worked for me!
For JB4.2 based roms (CM10.1 and AOSP4.2)
if you use a BT headset and are having problems with the mic give this a try.
download the following file.
http://andromadus.flinny.org/libbt-vendor.zip
extract it
Push it to your phone with adb - from the command line
adb remount
adb push libbt-vendor.so /system/vendor/lib
adb reboot
try it now.
Give it a try again and tell me if it all works... If all goes to plan new builds soon
Nick.

[ROM][UNOFFICIAL] CyanogenMod 11 [Android 4.4.4]

CyanogenMod 11 (based on Android 4.4.4 "KitKat") for the HTC Liberty/Aria/Gratia/etc
NOTE: Just to make this clear, this is UNOFFICIAL, and NOT supported by CyanogenMod.
Hboot 1.02 or higher is required! (Revolutionary or HTCdev unlock)
Liberty is now an official device on the androidarmv6 project
This means updates will show up in Settings > About phone > CyanogenMod updates
However updating via the updater may not always work, due to very constrained system space.
Patches can be submitted to http://review.androidarmv6.org/
Huge thanks to everyone working on marvel/Wildfire S (Olivier, izi501, feroxx, Kevinjoa, thehacka1, benjamingwynn, JDevs, more I don't know?) & the androidarmv6 team
The kernel includes TONS of CPU governers, and a couple extra I/O schedulers.
I don't really care for kernels with this many CPU governers, but the rest of the changes to the kernel are useful, and it's more work taking them back out so I left them in
No idea what may or may not be better, but the default seems to work fine.
Screenshots: http://winsuk.net/screens/liberty/cm11/
Required recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2474662
Known bugs/etc:
Slow - everywhere (I recommend CM9 or CM10)
Apps sometimes don't load on boot (appear to be completely gone) - even system apps
WiFi hotspot doesn't work
Screen brightness sometimes sticks at dim when turning on
Transparent GIFs in browser have a solid background
Large images in browser are usually broken
No adb screenrecord
No ART
Notes:
USB tethering: enable it, unplug & replug, then enable it again and it should work
For a transparent status bar, enable high-end graphics in Performance settings
USB debugging verify (the popup when you plug into a new PC) doesn't always work, so it has been disabled
Gesture typing, Photosphere, and voice recognition: all require closed-source libraries from Google built for ARMv6, which don't exist.
I can't make any of these work unless Google does.

Google Search cannot be installed from the Play Store, however if you can get an apk for it (like here maybe), it will work (sans voice) with one setting change:
1. install Google Search app (from apk)
2. open it, and hit Yes, I'm in
3. let it crash
4. open Google Settings from the app drawer
5. navigate to Search & Now > Voice > "Ok Google" hotword detection
6. slide hotword detection to off
7. done, it works

Upstream CM things (I don't keep track )
20140519 (May 19th, 2014):
Re-added missing fonts for various languages (they got removed during the KK bringup)
Removed what livewallpapers were left - this will not only free up some space on /system, but also /data because they had to be cached there
Removed CM Wallpapers to free up /system space (as with the live wallpapers, should free up a little on /data as well)
Removed 05mountsd script - most sd-ext solutions seem to have mounting built in now, and it conflicts with some
SELinux enabled in kernel - this may improve battery life as audit was constantly crashing without SELinux
Changes from CM (including new theme engine, oooh!)
20140507 (May 7th, 2014):
Got camera working (all of it including timelapse no glitches either)
Added some extra encoder/decoder files - not sure if they are doing anything right now
Latest changes from CM (whatever that may be)
20140503 (May 3rd, 2014):
Fixed hardware video decoder (& encoder)
Fixed GPS
20140501 (May 1st, 2014):

Maybe... Our camera blob (from gingerbread) is extremely outdated, and something it relies on was removed in 4.4.
New build uploaded:
20140503 (May 3rd, 2014):

I've now tested Google Apps and everything seems to work fine, so I changed the OP to only have one link for them (what I would recommend using)
But the Play Store won't let you install Google Search (aka Google Now)
Awesome! Hoping you could get the camera working. This is quite exciting.

No way this is happening I gave this phone to my mom and she is not the biggest tech enthusiast but there are some things that just don't work with GB. You once again breath new life into this device. Thank you!

If you are updating from a previous build and the camera app doesn't appear, run this from terminal emulator or adb shell:
Code:
su
pm enable com.android.camera2/com.android.camera.CameraLauncher
Hey WinSuk, I know these are annoying questions, but Google Now is basically the only thing missing that's keeping me from installing this on my mom's phone. I understood your explanation about voice recognition and Google's libraries and am now wondering if that's the same reason Google Now isn't working. Do you think it will ever be possible to install Google Now? Thanks so much!

I don't think it's possible because we don't have an arm v7 soc. The Aria is a v6, which is very old and most likely will never get updated. Though, Google now somewhat worked on the Aria when I was running CM9 (only contextual info). No voice features though.
You can try use the app Utter, which is similar to Google now in that it controls your phone via voice. I'm not sure if it works on our Arias.

Thanks for your reply. I didn't mean the voice functions of Google Now, just the app itself. So basically Google Search, Google Now cards and notifications.

Just tried the newest Search app, and it works fine after you disable hotword detection : O
1. install Google Search app (I don't really want to distribute an apk myself, so here is a trustworthy source)
2. open it, and hit Yes, I'm in
3. let it crash
4. open Google Settings from the app drawer
5. navigate to Search & Now > Voice > "Ok Google" hotword detection
6. slide hotword detection to off
7. done, it works
I think ima add this to the OP...
Just installed your ROM and it runs great!! Such a difference coming from your cm9 build. Quite impressed.
I was wondering if s2ext will work with this ROM? I understand kitkat broke the SD card support but our rom storage is quite small. I was only able to install a few apps before hitting the limited memory alert Lol. Are there any work arounds? =)

What do you think about symlinking the whole data partition to the SD card? Just an idea.
Could you do me a favor and take a few screenshots of the used storage and ram? Would also be interesting to know how much of the system partition is used/free. Thanks again

Sorry but I don't know how to symlink it lol. Is that like how when we used to use darktremors a2sd mod?
So after installing 7 apps, I only got about 18mb of rom left lol. The amount of free ram is quite good though.

What app are you using?
I tried Link2SD, but it doesn't like the /sd-ext mount point... can be fixed by deleting /system/etc/init.d/05mountsd and rebooting.

The storage space is the most difficult part on this device right now...
Missing fonts for languages have been added, but even after stripping out the live wallpapers, it (and a few other changes) leaves just under 13MB free on /system... Google Apps takes up 26MB.
I'll be taking CMWallpapers out before the next release, but at 9.3MB - that isn't quite enough...
The newest recovery (6.0.4.8) also won't fit without stripping out everything that isn't needed (images, comments & linebreaks in files, etc).
We may have to start using custom partition sizes soon...
Another option is symlinking Google Apps to the /cache partition (40MB, mostly unused), like the gapps package I linked for 4.3

Are there any downsides to this? Isn't the cache partition just as fast etc?
Do you think your ROM is already usable as a daily driver? As I said I don't own the phone anymore and can only rely on the community before I install it for my mom.
Do you think ART will ever work? I think this phone would benefit from it greatly. Thanks

Requirements
-Updated TWRP 2.8.6 or CWM
-Have Stock 4.1 or any custom rom
-Those having the DUOS variant should check if the name on the build.prop matches the name of the updater-script (ivoryss). If it doesn't, then edit the updater script.
Installation Instructions
-Make a backup just in case
-Wipe data/factory reset
-Install the rom
-Install optionaly gapps (choose for arm) or minimal gapps
Bugs/What's not working?
-Bluetooth half working
-Video recording (works with 3rd party apps)
-Some videos will look weird (3rd party apps like vlc work fine)
-Network activity indicators
-Email app (I wonder why)
-Message, Music and AudioFX apps may look weird due to small screen size.
-Probably other features I may not use frequently

Beta 1
-Initial release
Workaround for some issues
-For playing videos. Enabling AwesomePlayer instead of NulPlayer inside Developer Settings will make most videos work, however still 3gp videos'll look weird. Installing third party players like vlc will reproduce them with no problem
-For the video recording, you can install third party apps. Also you can replace the camera with a kitkat camera and video recording will work (but panoramic photo won't). You can replace it by going to /system/app/Camera2 and deleting Camera2.apk and placing there the the new Camera2.apk and setting the permissions as -rw-r-r-. Here are some cameras from different roms
-For apps that needs bigger screens like Messages, Music and AudioFX you can enable expanded desktop for these apps by going to Settings->Display & lights. If you still don't like the Music app, you can replace it with the Apollo from Omnirom. You can download it from here and install it. If you want to install it as a system app and replace the other music player, go to /system/app and create a folder named "Apollo" and place there the Apollo.apk and set the permissions as -rw-r-r- and delete the folder named Eleven inside /system/app
-For email, there are a lot of options to install from the Play Store

what is bug sound?
And good job for the first a ui change for our old phone
and home button fixed?
Oh, didn't know that, i'll have to check later
The sound bug it's that there's no sound at all in the phone (even for calls) because of that, it can't be used daily
And the home button is fixed (it was a minor bug)
I think the sound problem is from audio fx force close problem
the music player is too big for phone
speed is very nice
bluetooth can not found by other devices
change dpi to 110 then have better and comfortable ui
i dident tested dual sim because my phone was bricked adn antenna gots problem
you know my phone is s6012

I don't really know too much about the sound problem. Just that there is a patch by flex1911 that should fix the sound but causes a bootloop... So i suppose i should fix the patch or something like that...
Edit:lol fixed sound :good: need to check what caused it to fix beside the patch so will upload next beta soon (also it seems microphone and video recording did not fix with audio fixed)
Edit2: and you're right about the music player being too big for the screen. I don't know about app programing but I was wondering if I can use android studio to fix it and the message app too (however message isn't so bad)
Ok, released beta 2 with fixed audio, now the rom is more or less usable. The microphone is not working but it can be used for calls without any problem. Discovered that can't reproduce videos (haven't tested third party apps). Email app still FC but third party apps like CloudMagic work fine

Thanks for the CWM report. Added links in the first posts of CM threads. Also discovered a workaround to fix play videos. Delete libh264_dec_bp.so inside /system/lib . Next version will have this applied however videos in .3gp format look weird...
Also I'm not sure but the microphone bug could be the same as the one in omnirom because both roms have these logcat lines in common when using the voice recorder:
Code:
E/Recorder( 8421): audiosourcetype 1
E/AudioRecord( 5125): Could not get audio input for record source 1, sample rate 8000, format 0x1, channel mask 0x10, session 1071, flags 0
E/StagefrightRecorder( 1285): audio source is not initialized
E/MediaRecorder( 3645): start failed: -2147483648

Yeah I know they are brothers but still they have differences. I've already applied most of galaxy grand duos patches. For bluetooth there seem to be something weird with our phone. The workaround is a change on the kernel and a patch but for some reason our phone freezes with this workaround. I just may try it again on cm 12 but probably the freeze will happen
Ok, released beta 3 fixing microphone. Also video playing got more or less fixed but video recording isn't still working, however I feel that using 3rd party apps should work but haven't tested myself.
Next thing to fix should be mobile data but not pretty sure how. Nevertheless, the rom is more usable for daily use

Hmm I may try to bring it. Already made it with slimkat so I hope it may not be too difficult
New beta version uploaded Also added instructions to the first post of how to fix mobile data. The new version got the source updated with many changes and I felt it a little more stable
Edit: Ok i've got good news. Mobile data now works without using script manager or any third party apps. I'll check things regarding video playing. So soon I may release the first lollipop RC and then try building other lollipop roms (I already have the source of slimlp and omni 5.1)
Ok, released the RC 1 with mobile data fixed also added to first post a workaround section to fix issues and have a more stable experience. Now I will try to bring slimlp and omni 5.1
more news
ok released slimlp 5.1. It is beta because slimrom team says it but it has all the fixes from cm 12 so it doesn't have too many bugs. Now my next try will be omnirom 5.1, after that, i'll focus more on bugfix (I may still try to fix bugs on kitkat though it will be harder)

THIS SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. If you loose your data, brick your device, any other damage or anything else happens (e.g. your cat eats your dog), it is YOUR PROBLEM and YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. Your device warranty is most probably void after installing this.
To avoid any confusion let me explain my position. I still have a felling that some people don’t understand this. I didn’t create this, I only fixed some problems (mostly closely related to i9305 device) and built it. It is a big difference, similar to buying versus building a house. Buying a house is not a simple thing (at least in my country) and you’d probably need to do some changes and repairs before you can start living in it. But building a house is something completely different and much more difficult. The work I’ve done on these CM builds is more like buying a house. The see the list of people who "built the house" go into Settings on your phone, section About phone and then Contributors. It is a really long list. Thanks to all of them
Also, please, keep in mind, that I am only sharing results of my hobby.
Now, please, proceed to the this post for the build (I’ll probably change this to more traditional OP after the code stabilizes, but now I’d like to keep track of history, instead permanent rewriting the OP.)
Thanks @nels83 for several commits.
Sometimes it takes me a while to publish new build. But there are also other builds from @mad89 - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_ohj9exsQJMSU84MGxkbFdnYUk
OK, so here is the first taste (which I know about) of CM 14 (Android 7 Nougat) for Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE - i9305. Before You even think about installing it on your device, please, keep in mind the warning from OP. Consider the build experimental - AFAIK CM 14 has not been even officially released yet. Be prepared to restore your current system. You have been warned and you can download here:
cm-14.0-20160930-UNOFFICIAL-i9305.zip
Please expect bugs.
Basically all hw is working (I didn’t do any thorough testing, I’ve just checked the basic functionality):
- RIL - data (2G, 3G, LTE), in/out calls, I didn’t check SMS
- wifi
- bluetooth
- GPS (with one minor glitch - see notes bellow)
- camera (I can take photos, but there is some problem with video recording) and flash light
- probably all the sensors (accelerometer, magnetic field, orientation, pressure, light, proximity, etc.) I haven’t checked them one by one, but also haven’t noticed any sensor functionality missing
- NFC
Notes, problems, etc.
- mobile data probably won’t work after first boot, reboot fixes it
- as mentioned above, there is one GPS glitch - I can get the fix, no problem with that, but the list of satellites (e.g. in SatStat) contains sometimes SBAS satellites. This is probably some software error (there is quite big change in gps code) or I’ve found hidden hw functionality (I don’t think so, I am not sure if I can even receive signal from these satellites in my area).
- I can’t access developer setting menu
- there was a bug in the camera code, which was also in cm 13. This bug caused crashes when the preview started, I don’t understand how the camera can work in cm13...
- the recovery image is too big to fit into recovery partition
- selinux is permissive
- I’ve finally fixed the annoying bug in kernel, which caused kernel panic (and phone reboot) when there was missing camera firmware. Beside thisi, the firmware is now loaded from system partition
- there are probably many other bugs, the development is still in progress
Code changes:
All the code changes I did to make this work are in attached diff file (code.diff) and this repo. Many of them are quick & dirty fixes (just to make it work). I am planing to do it properly and upload on github. There is also attached roomservice.xml, which I*used and list of commits and some screenshots.

Hey, so good to see you here with such good news about your CM14 alpha. Keep up the good work and thanks a lot to spend your free time with this hobby.
When I'll have free time, be sure I'll test your builds and report.
Awesome. Never expect to keep this phone this long when I bought it 2012 and now 7.0
RIL works before i9300... This must be magic, the least buggy build you can publicly get for the i9300 is a build where nothing works, not even WiFi, but here RIL works too, and WiFi, amazing work :good:
What is this sorcery? How in GOD's name did you achieve this feat? My internet was down for ~30 minutes and this is what I see first thing. HOW? I swear I will have to donate some money to you @p.a.n because reasons. If you can PM me some info as to how i can donate some money, I'll be more than willing to.
Hi everyone,
thanks for the support (@西村大一 thanks for offering the donation, I appreciate it, but I`d like to keep money out of this).
There is no magic involved, Just good old plain debugging and RIL wasn`t the most difficult one. The fix for camera, even if it looks simple, was more difficult. I was overlooking the solution for long time, maybe because the code works in cm13 (this I consider magic).
@limjh16 what do you expect from building the kernel? There some important fixes there, but it doesn`t make much sense without the rest.
Maybe some of my fixes may help i9300 porting. It would make sense (e.g. I suppose the kernel version is at least similar, so finit_module syscall has to be changed back to init_module).
Thanks Pan for your work! I will try it. ?

Okay, I respect your decision. One bug to report is external SD card. It doesn't get mounted in fstab, but it gets detected as dev/block/platforms3c-sdhci.2 (if that is the sdcard) without any problems. I'll look into the fstab and add some mount point for sdcard and see if i can make it to work.
Dev settings menu is multiple tap on build number and works without any issue, WiFi works, RIL works, haven't tested the camera, calls work, everything is fine and dandy. Once the SDcard problem is fixed, it is good for daily driving needs.
The GPS 'Glitch' you talk about is not a glitch per say. It is supposed to help with GPS somehow (see this wikipedia article to feed your brain information). And as a little tip, after the first boot, just reboot once to get 3G/LTE/Whatever if you're not near WiFi. Smooth runner, daily driver candidate.

7.0 ARM yes, Pico or Nano are recommended
Very nice work p.a.n. It's already mostly working and very smooth.
Yeah i can confirm, external SD card is not avialable in system. I found another one too, com.android.phone process is crashing when entering dialer/settings/ call settings/call barring.
Pardon my nebulous language without logcats but I noticed one thing about that camera crashes. For me, it's often happening when i try to launch app with camera access and there is another one(or more) in recents menu which had accessed camera. Clearing all apps in recents can bring back access to camera but sometimes only reboot can help, hard to reproduce exactly same scenario. Fast opening and switching beetween diffrent apps with access to camera preview (eg cm cam, googlecam, camerazoom, instagram, fb messanger) can quicly cause these crashes too. Maybe there is some kind of dependency/lock / timming or ram management issue which causes that. Thanks again for great work.
I confirm SD card is mor available. SMS is working, GPS also.
Is not possible to setup weather source for clock widget.
Is not possible to change battery icon
Thanks.
