Noob Q - Getting a "root not aquired - fail!" message... - Samsung Infuse 4G

I am trying to flash a new ROM over (infused v2.1.0), however I am trying to get CWM to run before I go through with the flash and the SGS Kernel Flasher keeps giving me this "Root not aquired - Fail!" message after initializing.. My phone is rooted but not unlocked.. Any ideas?

Install superuser from market and try

[Q] g2x gingerbreak 1.20

Hi I upgraded my g2x to 2.3.3 now wanting to go back to froyo. I installed the latest 1.20 gingerbreak. I installed it from my computer to my device, turned on the debug usb mode, have sd card. I waited for the device to root for 30 mins but it doesn't do anything just keeps trying to root. Anyone have this problem? Is it the new 1.2 version, my phone, or something I am doing that wrong?
Did you even look at the directions for rooting gingerbread for our phone in the dev forum?

Yah I looked at thread saying i should install gingerbreak which should work with any phone, and the directions said I should install it on my phone with debug mode and formatted sd card. My mistake that obvious?
If you have clockworkmod recovery installed, then just flash xboarders 2.3.3 rooted zip (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179748). If you don't have clockworkmod recovery, then use this link to get that flashed so you can flash the ROM. Here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054492.
Your other option to root, once you get clockworkmod installed via nvflash, is to flash the root zip jboxer posted over in the dev section. Here's a link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255214
Just flash it with clockworkmod and it will root your stock rom keeping all your data intact.

[Q] Stupid question maybe?

My brother just bought a used galaxy s 4g from craigslist and it appears to be rooted because of the super user app. He wants to flash a rom to get rid of CIQ but when he tries to reboot into recovery it doesnt appear to boot into clockwork mod.
Two questions
1. Can we just delete the CIQ file using root explorer and be done with it?
2. He is still running 2.2.1 froyo. vuvkd1 and if the phone is rooted can i just completely reroot via odin all over from start to finish or must I unroot his phone back to stock first.
I suggest you use odin to flash ravers kj6 rom from dev section. Then with odin too flash kj1 kernel from dr honk then search for ravers kj6 no ciq edition and flash that via cwm.

It may not have had ClockWorkMod (CWM) installed on it. I assume it's probably booting into standard, 3E recovery. I *think* you can just delete the CIQ executable in /system/xbin but I don't know what ramifications that might have.
There are a few "No CIQ" ROMs in the Development section but I *think* they're all Gingerbread based.
There's really no sense in re-rooting if it's already rooted. If you do ODIN a new ROM onto it that does not have root, you can use SuperOneClick to root it or use a kernel that has root access.

Flash the SMS KJ6 file from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358498
That'll get you on Gingerbread, then you can install Valhalla Black Edition
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_4G_ROMs#Valhalla_Black_Edition
Valhalla Black doesn't contain CIQ files.
Thanks everyone ill pass this on to him.
Removing the CIQ is a very detailed process... You need to be familiar with baksmali/smali and decompile/recompile apk's... Otherwise you will never truly remove it...

[Q] Downgrading CWM?

Im unable to root my phone Huawei U8650. Everytime I run the update.zip, it says it is successful, the phone restarts but there is no Superuser app! And when I use the root checker from Google Play, it says that my phone isnt rooted!
My friend at school has the same mobile phone, same carrier, everything the same. He rooted and has put his own custom ROM. But he has CWM 4.0.1.4. and my version is CWM 5.0.2.6
Is there a way to downgrade from CWM 5.0.2.6 to CWM 4.0.1.4?
How you put CWM width no root?
You can downgrade CWM if you put other rom width root premisson.

Witch version stock rom( official ) you have. I think that .zip root file is for GB 2.3.3 but I dont no how you put CWM 5.0.2.6 and you must put Superuser 2.3.5 in your phone after flashing .zip update for root.

Bad Binary

Hi all,
I Know my Thunderbolt is rooted correctly because I am able to use certian rooted only apps. But when I go into superuser to update binaries it tells me that
1. It cannot gain root access
2. It says the new binaries are bad
3. Overall fail.
There was a similar post on rootzwiki about this, and in that post was a su.zip file that i manually placed in the /system/bin which i overwrote the existing. Still giving me the bad binaries error etc... is there something I am doing wrong? or a new fix avail??
Thanks
PS...also while I'm here i posted this on rootzwiki also but no avail...somewhat on the same lines as what i posted above but with more info about the bootloader.
Thanks
I just picked up a preowned thunderbolt....
currently :
Android Version - 2.3.4
HTC Sense Verison - 2.1
Software Number - 2.11.605.9
.
HBOOT - 6.04.1002
Radio - 1.4.8.00.0.930.w_3
just wondering if this is the most current, and root-able\ s-off friendly software for the thunderbolt. It was already rooted and revolutionary.io hence the bootloader saying so. But for some reason no matter what, I cannot perform a full TB Restore, and cannot successfully update SU binaries ( tried the suFixer on the market..and tried manually putting the file in /system/bin/su . It either says cannot gain root access or insuffiant privileges errors. I can't for the life of me figure wtf is going on. I've never had such difficulty/[problems rooting and customizing any other HTC ( or android phone) before. can anyone help
Run the all in one tool again
Don't update binarys there's issues with the newest update. And reflash your custom recovery. Then flash one of the alrdy rooted stock roms or custom Rom .

I start by flashing cwm via Rom manager premium. Then always flash the alternative amon recovery becUse I like it.better. is that the way to.go?
When re running the tool should I do the unroot then reroot? Is.there anything that will help me being able to use rooted apps run correctly hence the binary issue? Is this being worked on at all?
Sent from my HTC Thunderbolt. Using Tapatalk 2 premium.
I wouldn't flash anything through rom manager. That's just my opinion. Maybe unroot and then root again using the all in one tool might work.

Go here and scroll down to update 2. There is a link to download a fixed binary that can be flashed in recovery.

Another option that worked for me when I had my galxy s2 skyrocket. Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
Download SuperSu and flash in cwm. It replaces su. And fixes the exact issue you are having
I really like supersu more than superuser. If I flash this in recovery will it replace superuser?
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Yes it will. Then when you reboot. Open supersu and allow it to update its binaries
Nice I'm going to try it.

[Q] Stuck on 2.3.5

Need some help from the experts out there...
I have atrix 2 on a custom 2.3.5 rom that i loaded a while ago. Obviously phone was rooted and everything worked. Went to apply update for ICS but it failed everytime I tried to install. Just getting failed message. So tried to reboot into recovery and realized that superuser is not recognizing apps or granting permissions. So thought I would just go back to factory and try again. Still failed. I cannot get superuser to prompt apps for root access. I cant load anything else because root will not work. Have tried to re-root phone and everything appears successful but it will not actually root. So what can I do to get out of this rom, either back to true factory or to ICS?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32113181 this will help..
