That's an interesting idea. But which brand would produce it? I think that Samsung and/or Sony Ericsson are good ones.
Nexus Prime
It's called the Nexus Prime and will be released on Verizon mid next month.
Oh, and it will have LTE and a screen resolution of 720x1280 and have a 4.65" screen. You'll be happy. Hope you are up for a new 2-year service agreement.

Great idea!!!

I think you mean ROM. Although the idea itself is great, but I doubt if anyone will use it. Probably because the extreme specifications will lead to extremely expensive prices, i.e., won't be popular in the mass.
P.S.: Well drawn diagram. You need it to scan it though, the text is barely readable.
Yes a great Idea, but I don't think the makers would be willing to have us cut into their profit and compete against them.
android?
nah.
why waste the vast resources of xda by using something already in existence...build it entirely from the ground up with a new OS from scratch...
go big or go home.
or keep dreaming life away.
just sayin'.
And how much would this all cost?

Something on these lines?
The idea is good - but I had already proposed something on these lines aka a bit down to earth specs.

you can definitely check and let me know what you think of my specs
The camera will make it like 6 inches thick by itself lol. There's nothing wrong with dreaming

The super phone had appeared already
Why would you guys want to propose a super phone when there is already one. The HTC HD2. This beautiful beast runs whatever you would throw into her heart. That is the quintessence of a super phone. Not specs.
The HTC HD2 will never grow out of style even decades from now. The iPhone I had her days so did the 3G, the 3GS and even the 4. Even the iPhone 5 or 4S will not match the HTC HD2
If I can manage to keep the HTC HD2 in good shape, people will always ask: what phone is that?
I am not a fanboy.

More like an 8 MP f/2.2 camera off the Mytouch 4G Slide or an N9, 720p Super AMOLED+ display or LG AH-IPS 720p in 4.5" formfactor, Qualcomm MSM8960 SoC, GPS accuracy down to 9 feet in car on passenger seat, no loss of lock, 2000 mAh battery, 2 MP front camera, NFC, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi. 32GB of internal NAND flash. Top left of phone has power button, top right has 3.5mm jack, left side has volume rocker towards the top, and near the bottom of the left side would have the microUSB port w/ MHL and USB OTG. 2 GiB of LPDDR2 @ 500 Mhz.
Full noise canceling, Audience sound canceling and Wolfson DAC. The phone should be as thin as possible, but the outside should be much like the Captivate, plastic with a textured aluminum backplate, and both SIM and microSD card should be hotswappable. Green and orange LED lights for notifications/battery charging.
Two versions by Samsung and HTC, identical spec or better, they can choose how to design it (aluminum unibody vs plastic exterior).
A phone released around... June?
if miui can get thier own phone, there should be a cm phone
i used to have an hd2 but did the mistake of selling and getting a g2... but i miss the physical feel of the hd2 it self. the g2 feels like a fast toy.. i just wish the hd2 roms were 100% and felt like a true android phone.
No thanks. The boot screen will be 30 second video ad.
The Chinese can make it. They experiments on various stuff. But it will not look like what you have in mind.

Looks like the best choice for those looking to upgrade to native Android on a dual core beast
Think I'll be holding on to my HD2 for an extra month as my upgrade is middle of May but will be released in mid June on official carrier partners so fingers crossed O2.

Looks like a great phone to me and my ideal replacement.
Not impressed
I'm a bit disappointed to be honest. The Galaxy S 2 either matches or beats this phone in almost every respect. It's shorter, thinner and a lot lighter. It has 33% more RAM, and 16 times the onboard storage. The front camera has more than double the pixel count, and it has NFC support. While the HTC has a slightly higher screen resolution, it has a smaller screen area than the S2 because it has a higher aspect ratio (i.e. it's narrower).
It seems HTC can't even play catch-up very well now.
I think the Pyramid (I'm not keen on the new sensation name) is gonna be my next phone, though my upgrade isn't till next year so maybe something shinier will be around by then.
I have to admit the spec on the Galaxy S2 is impressive but i'm not feeling the looks. It honestly looks like a poorly executed iPhone4

The samsung might be good on paper but living with them is a different story, ive had an i8910.looked great on paper at the time, great looking phone but build quility,a major let down, had 3 in total and gave up and got a htc hero at the time, htcs go on for years, much better built
I'm also not keen on the current Galaxy S's screen as comes across with a blue tint, the AMOLED screen doesn't seem to do white well at all. I'm guessing it'll be similar on the S2. Yeah it's smaller, lighter and thinner but I'm not keen on plastic phones tend to break easier, my HD2 has been dropped numerous times and survived with little evidence. I'm liking the Sensation alot regardless of paper comparisons.

I had a samsung galaxy s and sold it with in 48 hours. I've had so many htc phones and really haven't had a complaint yet. plus htc just purchased cwm, so they care about our community here. And that's the most important to me.
On a side note. Tried the atrix and only liked the web top and hdmi out features. Sold it on the same day I got it. Still rocking the hd2.
Had my G1 up until about 3 months ago when i sold it for 150 and bought my brand new hd2. I am currently available for an upgrade on Tmobile. This will be my next new phone. I hope the 1500 ma battery can hang. I'm wondering if maybe the evo ed's 1750 ma battery will fit the sensation. If that is the case this is gonna be a great phone. It will be a great phone even if it doesnt fit. Since this is clearly a flagship phone I'm sure someone will make a case with the extra battery built in. I'm pumped for this phone. Congrats to me!
if you are claiming to be a high-end phone, and want to be acknowledged as such - and you don't have a freaking flash - you are immediately withdrawn from contention IMO. Therefore the Galaxy is not part of the discussion. I am tired of companies making phones they way they see fit and ignoring the basic needs of the consumers.
With that said, though I like what I am seeing, I am going to have to see what goes on with the AT& T merger. I can see them sneaking some language in there about having to roll over to AT&T if I get that particular phone. If T-mo DOES NOT merge this will be my next phone unless HTC or Motorola is coming out with a phone that sports Tegra for graphics/games.
Until then it will be me and my HD2.
The sensation will be my next phone for sure.
The biggest point for me is the qHD screen! I prefer the resolution over the SGS II as well as the body quality.
Doesn't hurt that there's dual mics for stereo recording of videos
My next phone. Period.

excuse me, flash for the camera. most of the world, with cell phones, don't live where there is daylight 24/7. utilization of facebook and other social media sites are major factors when considering a phone. to not have a flash, in 2011, is beyond asinine - irrespective of other specs and features.

I Finally Went To Return My G2x, I Paid In Cash that Way I Woudlnt Have Any Trouble With my refund And Now they telling Me That They're Gonna Send It To Me in a Check....WTF! i Paid $575 In cash...But All They Can Give me Back is $200 And The Rest In Check...What Should I Do... the 20th Is My Last Day... (I Really Want The Htc sensation).... Does That Check In The Mail Thing Sound Legit..?
Most places return large amounts in a check. Not unusual at all. Why does your entire question read like a book title?
Raise hell and demand your money. Are you going through a corporate store?
I would say, "fine. Send me the check. But while I'm waiting on the check I now don't have any more money to spend on another phone, So give me a Loaner Phone to use while money is sent".
That way you have a phone as collateral that you can keep and use until your money arrives.
Sounds LIke A Good Idea..But A Loaner Phone..They'll Probably Give Me Sum Old Nokia Flip phone... Pretty much all major retail stores do this. T-Mobile, Best Buy, Target, etc.
It's mainly so they don't have to open the tills in the morning with $1000 cash in each one just in case someone who is within their return period wants to return a large purchase.
Probably a security thing too...more of a paper trail when you return items back to the original card it was purchased on/check for cash purchase of over $200.
And yes, the loaner phones are basic models...otherwise T-Mobile would either have to take a large deposit (versus the $50 they take now), or they would never get their phones back. T-Mobile used to have Nokia e73s as loaner phones...they didn't last long.
Yes its legit. They did me the same way. Didn't take long for the check to come back. Also they charge a $10 restocking fee. I also think its bs because I don't keep money in the bank. Just say I only had that $529 that I spent. I would be SOL until the return check.
Update. My gf returned hers today & got cash back with no restocking fee. I guess its all about who you get & what store you go to.

...and how big your tata's are.
Girls always get off easy. I don't think there is a restocking free. Plus I paid mine via CC so it should all just go back to my card. I wonder if you can return the phone, get your money back, then buy it again, if you would get another 30 days?
I'm sure they have rules to prevent this stuff. I can see an exchange starting at the original purchase date, but if you flat out return and repurchase it would be a different order.

It's not. It might have a more stable OS out of the gate but hardware wise...
Tegra 2 is faster then the new Snapdragon
Sensation has encrypted bootloader so no fun stuff
Sensation doesn't have HDMI out (edit: I guess it does with an adapter :yuck
LG G2x has better front facing camera
Sensation has a new higher res screen to accommodate the 16:9 format which I suspect won't play nicely with some apps. I hate 16:9 format on smaller phones. Check out the iPad 10" vs Xoom 10". The iPad looks like it has a much larger area because it is 4:3 vs 16:9 (long and skinny) Xoom. It makes the viewing area uncomfortable long ways and sideways, where the iPad can really work any angle. This is not a big issue but one none-the-less.
Also Sensation has the USB plug on the left side, which means it'll be a pain to charge while driving and will break most holders/desk mounts.
The IPS screen of the G2x should be better then the Super LCD of the Sensation regardless of the size (backlight leaks aside).
I dunno, too many negatives. I'll just wait until the software catches up to the hardware on my G2x.
^ thank you for the information, ill keep the g2x then, you make a lot of good points.
Glad to hear the screen wont be making that much of a difference, that's what i was worried about [the higher res for the sensation]
i can live without dual led
nah the screen won't be a big thriller. You can change your DPI and achieve a "higher resolution".
Default is "240" and I like a setting of "210". Some like "190" but things get too small for me. Some even go lower.
One thing I did find out is that the screen has rounded edges like our G2x that I love so much. And it does have an aluminum housing like the N1 I had. It'll be a great phone but nothing compared to the G2x once the bugs are worked out.
The big thing we're waiting on is the Gingerbread release for the GB kernel and baseband. 90% of the problems are from a whacky kernel. The problem with custom roms is they are based off Gingerbread but using a Froyo Kernel, which causes resets and weird issues like the battery sensor and display issues.
Ya Don't let the downers on this forum make you feel like you made a bad purchase. No phone is perfect at launch.. Updates will iron out the issues.

Your points aren't even facts tegra 2 faster in gpu department most likely. The processors works differently not even a comparisons. The micro usb and hdmi use the same slot no adapter. I have no idea where you got that information. This is not a xoom the 16:9 ratio is way different on a smaller device. If you look at reviews no one has a problem with the 16:9 ratio. As its still an hdpi device apps won't have a problem. A ffc won't make your video chat pictures any clearer it depends on mobile and internet connections. Most phones are in landscape mode for car docks and most docks. Super lcd and ips display are personal preference . Sensation bootloader is signed not encrypted. I've read lots of reviews on it and it said the HDMI out is via an attachment. microUSB and microHDMI aren't the same thing. The G2x has both ports and they aren't interchangeable. So either they use the same cable like you stated and they have special proprietary cables.
[Update]
"The HDMI output has been combined with the micro usb port to form one connection. This connection is called Mobile High Definition Link (MHL) and is expected to become the universal connection for multimedia on smartphones. The Samsung Galaxy S2 also utilizes MHL."
[/Update]
So Yup Special Cables. 1 port though. I guess this will work with regular HDMI inputs on TV's that don't support MHL?
And I said the ratio wouldn't be much of an issue.
And everything I read about the Sensation pointed to an encrypted bootloader.

More accurately: A Gingerbread kernel
Damn the MHL HDMI cable is expensive too. $20! I paid $1.33 for my microHDMI. Plus it only charges the phone if the TV supports MHL (hint: which I don't think any do). So unless you bought a new TV you wouldn't benefit from it anyway.
THEN you'd be stuck without a way to charge the phone while using HDMI out. That SUCKS bad. I throw my G2x on a charger, and with HDMI out and I can watch movies and game for hours.
Big points in my book. Thanks for making me do more research on a phone I'm glad I didn't wait around for.
What a beautiful phone !!
Best phone of all time ?
Well not if you want a small phone or a keyboard, but it you want a bigger screen smartphone this has to be yes!
The main thing, or the sum of the parts, about this phone, is that HTC have put all their previous experience into the form factor and it shows.
For such a large screen device it feels small and light in the hand. It also looks smaller then it it.
The alu/plastic back is the perfect shape for holding and setting down. The front glass is lovely and the way you take the back off is the best way - no slide off shell that almost breaks everytime you do it, rather a release button and a smooth slide off. Even the slide-off is confidence building - the back encircles the main phone can curves round at the top. This ensures no rattling and also sealing the internals nicely.
The build quality is light and day difference from the Samsung Galaxy SII, for example. The Samsung is light and feels cheap. Worse, the last one I looked at in an O2 shop had a piece of velcro on the back slicking it to a small stand. Repeated removal meant that the thin plastic back was warped, one corner stuck off exposing some electronics and the middle had a nasty fold down it meaning it was hardly attached.
HTC Sense is the next jewel in HTC's crown. Sense 3D is no big upgrade but after some configuration it appears as jewel like as the body (I have a B&W picture background from the HTC collection) with dual clocks on the home screen, and a swiss watch skeleton clock on the lock screen).
Operation is fast and smooth. There are occasional jerks but I am sure this will be dealt with with a firmware upgrade (after all, multi-core CPUs are just introduced to Android).
The screen is a joy. Not so bright or contrasty as a AMOLED, but fantastic in its own right. The one criticism, if a bit picky, is that the contrast drops off sharply as you look at an angle. The extra 100 pixels either way over the normal high-spec android is really really useful for surfing and email (540x960).
Main gripes:
1. Not many apps using multi-core cpu
2. Not many apps using full screen resolution
3. Volume on ear piece could be a bit higher
All-in-all a great software effort for HTC's first dual core release but hardwarewise a mature and well thought out build with real ownership pleasure.
I think you could make the Moto Cliq sound amazing. You just made me so excited to have this phone.
What a phone.

Sony xperia play -come on - no review says that ....
I would definitely own the Sensation over the iPhone 4, any day of the week. It's not even close. To me, that's a significant statement to make given how the iPhone has pretty much dominated.
Hey,
I've just come from having an iPhone 4(had it a year, and got bored), and this is my first Android phone. I must say i am happy with the phone, but the best phone ever? Not yet.
The iPhone has a great Retina screen and its build quality is great. But you have to jailbreak it to get some basic features, like bluetooth, customising themes, tethering etc.
The Sensation is great out of the box, not a snappy as i anticipated i think due to sense. But i has everything i need as stock.
Sound is a bit low, and crackly sometimes. But i am impressed.
Cant wait to root it and unlock the real speed of the phone

Yeah like the other dude said, this list looks... off a bit.
Sensation is beautiful but the best graphics?
3Gs the best phone ever? Really?
Nexus One, the best android phone ever? Maybe only to the dev community.
Fastest - Should read fastest data speeds, then yes I would agree with that one. In terms of overall responsiveness, then no.
Gaming phone - could be any Galaxy S1 (Power VRSGX540 is still a beast), GS2, or any tegra2 device out there. The Xperia play has an Adreno 205 GPU which makes it decent at best, physical controls and all. But it lines up with the rest of Sony's product lines - They make a lot of good stuff, just never the best.

I feel the same way but..... give iPhone 4.3" screen and T-mo bands and we'll talk again. I don't like apple, SJ or their nazi ways but there's something fascinating about having a device that just. works. out. of. the. box. Mind you, this is coming from Android follower since day 1 (Got G1 on the day of the release). I'm sick of rooting phones just to make them work and I thought that Sensation will be the phone I can live with. I mean it does sound great on paper but in real life - software on it is big heaping pile of ****. I truly believe that HTC is getting too comfy being one the biggest names in Android game and they are cutting corners left and right. Guess what - it shows.
Can't wait for S-off and CM.

Couldn't agree more! This phone has made, by far, the best first impression (and continued) of any new device I've purchased in years.
I'm not sure why the 3GS was brought up here - I went from the 3G to the 3GS and really didn't feel it was worth it (it was a free upgrade through work, so what the heck). The original iPhone can get a mention, but I wouldn't give any of the subsequent models anything special.
I was a htc fan for a long period of time. Now i'm cured..

the galaxy s 2 is faster but perhaps new htc software will make it up
however the margin is not worth it compared to the terrible build or Fischer price os

That's a d*ck move you pulled there. Go back under the bridge from which you came. The OP didn't once claim that this phone was better than the GS2. He was merely stating that he's in love with his phone. Nothing wrong with that. Everyone already knows that the GS2 is superior performance wise. Now go back to your Samsung forums and leave us be.

Before you come out here looking like a complete *ahem* ...wait, too late... I was ABOUT to say that you should probably take into consideration that at this point in time this IS the best phone ever available in the United States. I agree about how nice it is that the iPhone works out of the box but I have to say I was able to get up and running in no time on my new Sensation just by entering my gmail account info...boom everything was there.
As for Sense I never liked/used Sense before but IF I got stuck with it on the Sensation I wouldn't be ready to kill myself. Frankly I think CM ROMs are waaaay overrated...so they are faster, great, but half the time stuff like GPS don't work. That said I will root this baby the second I get the chance.
......NOT !!!
ps: ok, maybe the best htc phone of all time.
GS2 is definitely more powerful at the moment. But after software update, hopefully the Sensation will show big improvement. I mean Sense 3.0 runs very smoothly on EVO 3d, so there's no reason why Sensation couldn't.
Sound and camera quality on HTC, however, need to be a lot better. Samsung have this, as well as sheer power and speed covered. But of course, HTC have an upper hand in the aesthetics of the phone, both hardware and software.
While I long for GS2's unstoppable power, I really cannot stand its big, non-matchingly-colorful, unpolished interface (I don't mind the plastic build). Same with the Sensation - unbelievably beautiful look of the device and UI, but things like dust under screen, dim screen (compared to EVO 3d), whispering speaker volume and average camera quality turn me off quite a bit.
So, I'm gonna stick to my good, old blackberry and wait until HTC or Samsung
address their weakness.
Hey everybody,
well, my sensation got stolen a week ago, this has been a very bad (phone-wise) week, because I've been using an Iphone 3gs since (my dad had one just for occasions like these)..
this Iphone is the crappiest thing I've ever used so help me kermit the frog!
any way.. my goal since then was to buy a new sensation and make it an XE just to cheer my self up.. but now came out the amazing Samsung galaxy nexus, now this thing is absolutely incredible.. the screen on that phone is just perfection, I could just dream HTC would use that screen on their phones. for the record - I adore HTC, and would always prefer an HTC phone over any other model, but this thing just blew my mind away..
So.. the thing is I dont want to get my hopes up so that if eventually I'll buy myself a new sensation I would always think back about the galaxy nexus.
and that's where you guys (and gals) come along, I'm just looking for some advice, you really don't need to explain how good the sensation is and how Htc makes the best phones and interface out there because I already know, just read on and you'll understand my frustration:
these are the pros and cons:
HTC sensation xe:
1. It has sense (this is the biggest advantage HTC has over Samsung or for that matter over every other smartphone out there.)
2. 1.5 ghz dual core.
3. 8 mp camera (although smartphones have a very small camera sensor so it really doesnt matter how many MP's you've got, you could have 20 of them but still get crappy photos).
4. beats audio (though this feature doesn't really matter to me as I don't listen to music from my phone that much)
Samsung galaxy nexus:
1. ICS (although the sensation is getting it pretty pretty pretty soon)
2. the screen ohhhh the screen, this thing is by far the most amazing screen i've ever seen on a phone. plus it's bigger, 4.65 inches and I love that.
3. good camera: although it lacks the MP's the sensation has, I think this camera is a very good one in comparison. It features a very (very) fast shutter speed, I believe it is faster than the sensation, and Samsung says it has top notch low light performance which is one of the most important things a phone's camera can have.
the two major cons I see in the galaxy nexus is it is SENSEless (), and the price of course... I can buy a Sensation and a half with its price
If you leave out the Sense's widgets (because the launchers today are pretty good) I will definitely miss it's features like flip to silent, pick up phone when call comes in and the ring volume lowers, flip to turn speaker in call.. these are the things that make HTC phones better than other phones.
anyway I think that if the Sammy's price won't lower soon I'd settle for the sensation, but what if there was a minor price difference? what would you do?
I'd love to hear your thoughts people, TNX!

Yeh sure.. the phone was turned off a couple of minutes after I figured it's not in my pocket. so couldn't locate it's location from the sense site, I was drunk as well.. so in the heat of the moment i logged in to sense.com and locked the device and then clicked on the "restore device", so once I did that I no longer had any other options on the sense site, Plan B also was not relevant as the phone was reset as said.. I was depressed for 2 days, like not getting out of bed depressed...
If you know the IMEI you can get it locked by your provider so that no one else can use it again.
As for Sensation or Galaxy Nexus.
Personally if i had the choice atm i would stick with a Sensation, but that's just because i love the unibody design & like Sense.
But the Galaxy Nexus has some pretty good features too. Bigger Screen, it comes with ICS & it's currently Google's Flagship phone so it gets all the updates first.
You should be able to pull the imei from your Google account

Actually, they wont because they hope that stolen phones turn into used phones on their network. Sadly, they only care about THEIR business. The thief may use it or sell it to someone that will use it. Sucks huh? I believe a court order could have them lock it, but good luck with that.

Had to say go for the Nexus, I've had my Sensation a year but now it sits gathering dust in the corner as my GN is my daily phone. It is just better than the Sensation in every way IMO
I would go with the Nexus because,
1) it is larger but lighter-- I am a big fan of light devices.
2) RAM-- my sensation on stock would have its RAM eaten by Sense so when I'd play certain games it'd crash quite easily. I'm not sure how ICS with Sense would affect this though.
3) The front camera of the Nexus is much more clearer than the Sensation-- I use video calling a lot and the front camera could be better for the sensation.
Although I must say I'd miss Sense contacts a whole lot..

The Galaxy Nexus is certainly a nice phone but it's just a bit too big for me. The Sensation/Sensation XE is just about at the limits of pocket-friendliness IMO.

Really? That's awesome then. I just assumed that the bigger screen meant an increase in the phone's dimensions by at least that much.
I remember trying my girlfriend's SGS2 in my pocket and it didn't feel as comfortable as my Sensation, even though the latter is technically bigger.

Depth isn't that much of an issue for me. All phones now are pretty darn thin compared to older models. I think my issue with the SGS2 was that it felt so flat inside my pocket, like it would break if I walked normally. I'm sure it wouldn't have but that's how it felt.
The GN looks a lot more contoured than the SGS2 and that alone will probably make it more comfy. I
want to go try a GN now. But I just got my XE a month ago and I promised myself my next big purchase would be that shiny, new portable console that just came out.
I would go with the Sensation XE just purely on bang for buck and also the fact that Samsung phone values tend to fall so quickly... They all have common issues like freezing and as it gets older the phone shows its age in the performance..
between those two I'd go for the GNexus at present time.
why? update...
plus that screen... bigger ram, better front facing camera, and NFC(yeah, it's not widely popular at the moment but atleast it has the feature for future proofing)
down side is all the plastic but I think I can put up with it for, if not for anything, the updates... and the developing community it (will) has/have.
this is all assuming I wouldn't have to switch carriers. but here in the states you'd have to so... makes my whole argument moot.
I just got a Sensation XE because i cant cope without an SD card.
I mean if you an afford it, go with galaxy nexus. I played with ny friends phone and it was super cool.

Hey guys,
I really want to upgrade my phone. Currently I have a Desire S but the screen is far to small for my needs :/
So i want to upgrade. There are 3 phones were i'm interested in: the Galaxy S2, the Galaxy Nexus and the normal Sensation.
I really like the speed of the S2 and the hardware home button, but the resolution is incredible low on this device Against that there is the Nexus, its a bit slower from what i've heard but has a beautiful screen in my opinion. Did any of you guys know if the decrease in speed is noticeable in daily use? I really like that it is also supported directly from Google and get the updates asap.
There are also the Sensation because i like the aluminium case from HTC.
I prefer the Nexus and the S2 a bit over the Sensation. So which phone you recommend for me?

I would advise you to wait for the Mobile World Congress before upgrading... you'll have many more options within a couple of months...
But if you still want to upgrade now, here's my input :
1. Sensation : ? Why would you want to consider that? It's an average phone, and from whatever time i've spent on it on my friend's phone, it's nothing to write hone about. Does anyone even remember the original Sensation anymore (Especially after the XL and the XE?)
2. The SGS2 is a very very fast phone, with great hardware, but i have two issues with it : The screen has a bluish tinge to it, and colour reproduction is inaccurate across the spectrum. Secondly, it looks like a plastic business card holder
3. The Galaxy Nexus is a lovely looking device, the form factor is very attractive. In my discussions with zeekiz (who bricked his DS and migrated to the GN) he says he loves the phone and it's not slow or anything like you mentioned. Plus, you'll be the first person to get the next Android version update (Jellybean). Thirdly, it always makes sense to go for the newer device, both for the gains in hardware, as well as company support that comes more easily and lasts longer for newer (especially) flagship phones.
Best of luck choosing your next device!!

Just a small note here, with my experiance the 3.7' of the Desire S is the largest screen size for a mobile that I can -almost- fully use with one hand, whenever you go beyond that, you may have to get used to work with both hands, and that made me drop the sensation in favor of my DS
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
I came from a HTC Sensation to the Desire S as i found the Sensation too big. Surprisingly i have found the Desire S not much slower.
I would also wait for the MWC...but if you can't wait, IMHO Sensation is a good device especially after it's rooted and equipped with the custom ICS based roms made for the XE version (with CPU at 1.5 Ghz)...i think capy's work.
Anyway you have a lot of roms to try even with ICS out there.
Regarding the SGSII it's ok if you want a plastic phone....
Galaxy Nexus has a good screen and it's not slow but i think it's a little big, you will clearly need 2 hands if you want to use it properly.

Right on! Exactly my thoughts about the SGS2. It feels like a business card holder!
Wait for mwc and HTC edge if price isn't the big deal
Otherwise, i personaly would buy a sensation, the gs2 is sure a nice device, but like mentioned above the screen isn't the best and the plastic body feels weird.
The galaxy nexus isn't a device for me, there are 2 dealbreakers at my opinion, even if the resolution is better than at the gs2 the grapic chip is wors and there is no sd slot.
The update cycle is sure a point and the nfc also, but for my opinion it's a pure developer phone.
The sensation is from hardware almost the same like the sensation xe and every rom can be exchanged between those 2 devices, there is no nfc, for sure, but the gs2 also haven't got one, so this isn't a point of interest for you i think.
Also even if all of them have them same frequenzies the sensation runs at a stock speed of 1.5 ghz with an xe rom, so it got the highest frequency of those phones.
Swifted from my Desire S far away from my PC
yeah i'd wait for MWC but if not galaxy nexus for all the reasons above. It is definitely not a slow phone, especially since google probably built ICS for the nexus. The only thing i hate about the nexus phones is the fact that they're always released at awkward times. By awkward, i mean right before all the new hardware comes out. My brother has an S2 and it does have a horrible plasticky feeling. While the galaxy nexus is the same, it seems to hide it better. The white S2 is even worse! It has no grip on the back which makes it absolutely horrible to hold, not to mention a liability too.
It's been a while since I did a megga-post.....
From what I'm hearing about HTC's line-up for MWC, I hope they also announce a sensible phone. At the moment I really don't know what I'll get, as the current rumours all seem to have several problems for me.
1. Screens too big.
I have a non-upgradable 2.5" thumb. I've spoken to my network provider but they wont give me a larger one. I do not want to have to change grip or use two hands to turn screen on/off. The DS screen size is perfect. It is fine watching films on Netflix.
2. Quad core. Really?
Does anyone remember the Coca-Cola/Sprite stunt yo-yo's from the eighties? (Bear with me here, work is a little slow today and I feel a rant coming on.) They were a massive craze when I was at school. They came in two versions. "Standard" and "Pro". The Pro ones cost nearly twice as much. Why was that? It was because the Pro version had "Pro" written on the side. That was it. They were the same size and weight as the standard version. But every kid in my class practically sold a kidney to get the pro version, because to show up in the playground with the standard version stood you out for ridicule, and everyone was certain the Pro version could do better stunts. What is quad core going to give us? How often is it going to be running on more than 2 cores? Can it do better stunts? My single core phone can render web pages quickly, run any game I've asked it to, record 720p video at 30fps, and has a smooth and lag free UI. It just doesn't have "Pro" written all over it. That word seems to brain-wash kids into doling out dosh! Kids love the idea of being "Pro". Look at what every premium version of any app on the Android Marketplace is called.
3. Skinny form-factors
Leading to phones being bendy and having a non-removable battery. I like my solid aluminium DS. I've held the SGS2. It feels like a kinder surpise egg. Squeeze it too hard and I worry it'd break. Plus if we are having to have a (pro) Quad Core phone don't we need a bigger battery? Did you know the HTC Edge has a fifth core (super pro) that is a very low power companion core for when the phone is off in your pocket? Turn your phone on (without dropping it changing your grip to reach the button) and expect laptop battery life from the 40nm chip. Will it come with a Pro Charger?
4. No SD Card slot.
OK most of the phones with these also claim built-in 32GB storage which is fine for capacity, but what if I brick my phone larking about on XDA? What if it just packs in? Currently all my music/photos/documents would simply be removed and put into another phone. If it's built-in and your phone wont boot.....Are the cloud-storage sites encouraging phone manufacturers to do this?
5. Build Quality.
HTC seem to have really dropped the ball with this one. They used to be fantastic. However I know 3 people who have bought the DS since September (on my recommendation) and all of them have been back for repair at least once. One of them died for the second time two nights ago with the dreaded eMMC chip failure again! WTF? Did they replace the faulty board with another one prone with the same weakness? She also waited 6 weeks to get that phone back the first time. I feel guilty now. Also check Amazon for the reviews of the DS. Since September it's started getting a load of 1 star reviews and they all read the same. It seems I was lucky in buying my DS on it's release, before it seems HTC moved production to the local wine bar/crack house. There is no way I'm spending £450 on something I'm not confident will last a year or will take me 6 weeks to get repaired.
If HTC...no if ANYONE announce a phone that has: A screen under 4", solid build, removable battery, SD card slot, improved camera optics, decent amount of RAM, reasonable battery life and justifiable processing power, then I'll get my wallet out. Or if it comes with a free Pro Yo-Yo. They do better stunts.
Basically I want a DS with a nicer camera and bigger battery. And a sticker that says "Pro" on it.

It's been a while since I did a megga-post.....
(Bear with me here, work is a little slow today and I feel a rant coming on.)

Brilliant!
Love the rant (and i thought i was the only one with this illness)
I agree on mostly everything you've said above... especially HTC screwing up on its strengths... build quality, sub-par components, and progressively bloat-ier (i know that's not a word) Sense... Though i'd still buy an HTC instead of a Samsung, all things set aside, they do better stunts!!
Yeah. Your words seem to come right from my mind.
a desire s pro would be really cool
Sent my thoughts to your head with XDA App
If i had the choice, i'd choose the sensation in a heartbeat.
First, it has the beat build IMO. The SGS 2 is too plasticky and since it's far too thin, it feels weird in my hand. The galaxy nexus is waaaaaay to big. The sensation is perfect
Second, HTC Sense. It is just too good and i can't get a device that has no chance of getting Sense. Besides, touchwiz sucks and the stock experience on the nexus can be acieved through an AOSP ROM.
That said, the super amoled screen is quiet good ad a plus point of both sammys.
That said, i recommend you wait till MWC. Something awesome will surely come up. There is a thread, full of leaks on the two upcoming htc devices, the One X and the One S.

it has to be the htc amaze, i think its a great phone, in addition to that htc has quality in its build, as in our desire s the aluminum feel is way better than the plastic in most samsungs
