Yes. But after OTA root & custom recovery is out.
Have the Stock, Rooted AT&T version they just were selling at Best Buy. Don't attempt the OTA update. when I did this morning, the phone rebooted to the exclamation/android screen. thankfully pulling the battery let it boot back to normal. I may have to un-root in order to install 2.3.6.

That is called recovery, and it is how updates get installed.

Hi guys,
Wanted to ask if it's possible to lock back the bootloader for warranty claims since it was unlocked in the process of rooting the Nexus S & how do I go about doing so for this case? Thanks in advance.
Stan.
fastboot oem lock
FYI, if you've rooted the phone, locking the bootloader won't get rid of the Superuser package that was installed. You'll have to get rid of that too if you're worried they'll check your phone for that.

where do i find a stock rom.img as i didn't get to back that up before rooting my phone.
Try here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=955719
Also don't forget that "rom manager" on the market has stock 2.3.3 on it at the moment also. Should be able to get ota updates after that too.

Root and cwm recovery aren't related.
Uninstalling su.zip with TB is like saying I don't want black, but go on and wipe black with black lol (TB requires root to perform most actions)
Just install a Google full rom (sticky in general section) and lock the bootloader afterwards.

I don't get what you say. Installing a full Android stock rom will delete cwm recovery and add the stock recovery again (as well as restoring the install-recovery.sh again).

If your radio is the correct one that came with the version you have installed, why bother.. if not they can see that the bootloader was unlocked just from comparing your device's Android + radio version versus what it would have been via OTA.

The official ICS is already out?!
Also you can install OTA updates and keep root just install 'OTA RootKeeper' from the android market when you have successfully rooted your device
I didn't test it yet because I modded my stock rom too much and there wasn't an update >4.0.3 yet. But the app is from supercurio and will probably work well
you can flash a stock otA ICS 4.0.3 rom after rooting

Hey guys,
I thought I'd make a new separate thread for the OTA update instead of the LG Tool method. OTA just started going out to phones. I was wondering:
Anyone get the OTA yet? And if you did use the OTA, did you root before and keep your root?
Thanks everyone!
As far as ive read you wont revive a OTA if your rooted, You would have too un-root/flash stock, Update then re-root.

I did the OTA and lost root. I'm not sure if it would make any difference, but I did not check the setting in SuperSU to maintain root after OTA. I'm not sure if this would work anyway.

I got my notification just last night. So it should slowly get to everyone.
