[MOD] No Clock in Notification Bar for Overcome 1.3.0

I was never a huge fan of the clock in the notify bar where it is currently. On CM6-7 builds, there is/was a tool to disable it. Not finding such a tool for the tab, I proceeded to remove it myself. Below are my results.
I have removed it from the area by the battery and signal icons and placed it with the date in the pull down (see screenshots).
Install:
- Reboot into recovery
- Download attached zip file, extract and copy the services.jar file to your tools or platform-tools directory (depending on your setup)
- push services.jar to /system/framework/ on your device via adb
Code:
adb push services.jar /system/framework/
- Wipe Dalvik Cache
- Reboot
* The reboot will be longer than normal as we wiped the Dalvik Cache and it needs to be rebuilt (approx 3 mins for mine, could take as long as 10 though)*

I will be making different version of this in the near future that will change the way the dat and time are displayed, but for now enjoy!

Would you mind sharing the steps you went through to change this? I don't know if my VZW tab can use the services.jar from a GSM ROM and I'd like to try this myself.

Updating it now. Release will follow shortly.

For a flashable zip, I believe you just need folders in the zip to lead to where you want the files to go. That might be wrong thouh..

Nope. I meant that in the past, if I had a com.android.acore force close then it wouldn't stop force closing. Is that the case with this or is it because you removed the launcher?

yes. i removed the TouchWiz Launcher and become a "android.process.acore" error.
re-install of touchwiz solved my problem

the "services.jar" was modfied from Overcome Rom 1.3.0
its better to replace only on Version 1.3.0 of Overcome
you can extract it and replaced it with root explorer, it works.

but my problem is, overcome 1.2.3 is working on my tab, overcome 1.3.0 is not... my tab doesn't boot anymore, if i install overcome 1.3.0... so i stay on 1.2.3...
that's why i need it for 1.2.3...

I've uploaded this nice looking Digital Clock Widget from the Xperia Arc for you guys.
Grab the Widget here.
It's tested on WolfBreak his CyanogenMod 6.1.3 v06. (I'm a tester of his ROM)
It should work ony every 2.2 ROM.
Just report me if it works on your ROM and I will put it here in the start post.
To install it just open the .apk file with a file manager such like Astro File Manager.

Howdy Guys,
not wanting to highjack, didn't want to start a new thread.
i made a Black and pink version of this.
tested both on my X10i (Wolfs CM 6) and my GF's Samsung Galaxy S i9000 (standard)
and i've attached them, as i dont kno how to rename the apps yet. they will "update" the one that is already installed and change the color.

The themed ones aren't working for me on 2.1 - won't install.
Same thing happened to me when I tried to theme it....
Will someone running a 2.2 or 2.3 rom try installing my transparent themed one? I'll attach it. The worst thing that could happen is the os telling you "application not installed"...

Edit- I apktooled the one you have rebuilt it and resigned it now it is working for me.

also not sure if it is relevant but in apktool the framework i am using is the cm6 one off my phone.

Ok thanks Pvy! It works for me now; still needs a little work though.. I had a brain fart and tried to theme it like a system apk... Did you just decompile/recompile and sign? I also tried yours again and they worked, maybe a corrupt download the first time... Sorry for the confusion & thanks for the help!

ICS stock browser with larger Quick Controls area

Hey,
I love the "Quick Controls" feature in stock browser (Labs menu) but find the area it responds to way too small. I guess it's optimized for tablets where pixel translate to way more size than on a phone. On my phone I'm having major problems hitting the area which makes it very cumbersome and slow to use the quick controls – not really how it's supposed to be.
So I went and edited the source, hardcoding a value of 25 pixel.
REQUIREMENTS:
- ICS (Android 4.0.3)
- Root
Attached is the edited browser.apk 4.0.3, signed (for installing after removing the stock browser.apk).
For those want to make the changes themselves:
1. pull /system/app/Browser.apk
2. decompile (use http://apkmultitool.com/ if you don't know how to do it)
3. open Browser.apk\smali\com\android\browser\view\PieMenu.smali in an editor
4. in ".method public onTouchEvent(Landroid/view/MotionEvent" find the first appearance of "com/android/browser/view/PieMenu;->mSlop"
5. add a new line "const/16 v12, 0x19" after the one from 4. (0x19 is the hex value of 25)
6. compile the apk and push/install
For installation:
1. Use Root Explorer, adb shell or similar tools to delete /system/app/Browser.apk
2. reboot
3. install the apk
edit:
v2 with bugfix for search released, Quick Controls area reduced to 20px (25 was causing too many false positives with website buttons)

the signed one didn't work on my X10 , it failed .

Did you remove the stock browser before trying to install? Self-signed apps can't replace system apps as the signatures are different.

Where are you getting that error message?
While I'd love to make it install next to stock browser I haven't yet figured out how to resolve the conflicting provider errors. So for now your only choice is to first delete the stock Browser.apk, then install this one.

no I didn't remove the stock browser before installing it , I use the iAPK v0.3 to install apps into my X10 phone and I got the message ( install failed ) .

well it can't work if you don't remove the stock browser, no matter what tool you use

the attached apk requires sdk 15 which is 4.0.3. You could edit your own Browser.apk though, it's a really quick job, even without experience shouldn't take more than 10 min.

Tried the apk and added the line with apk multitool. Both didn't work (still very hard to get the quick controls up ) on my Desire s, Virtuous Quattro

so it only compatible with SuperCharged V5, or can it be pushed too rooted 2.3.6 stock? ....

Well I managed to install the blurhome2.apk after soft bricking my phone for a couple hours xD
But the other 2 don't work, so now I have a stock rooted atrix with a ICS launch bar but stock drop down bar.
I think I like this look better

the Browser and blur-res apk's
I ran the commands a couple times and rebooted but no change

I am running a custom rom that doesnt have the stock moto launcher. So can I just download only the launcher and put it in system/app and not worry about the code or the res and browser?

ADB confuses me. lol any chance of making this a .zip that I can use CWM on?

You guys can push it via root browser or root explorer. I always say there should be a tutorial on doing it on your phone without ADB, over using the computer and ADB.

What do we do with the stock odex file if we use Root Browser to copy this launcher into /system/app folder? Do we leave the odex file alone? Delete it? I assume this launcher is deodexed. The other option is to use Rom Toolbox or Titanium Backup to do the install. Right?

Add Screenshot in power button for Wolfs Break ROM or Stock GB 2.3.3

Hey guys well i make the screenshot option work properly on Wolfs ROM don't know if someone else do it before so i will share it with all of you because i know that many users like me, like a lot this ROM but also we really want the screenshot function on the power button so here we go now.
This works fine in Wolfs ROM but i think that this should work nice also in the Stock GB 2.3.3 Rom.
For people who are in wolfs ROM download this (if you are using stock GB 2.3.3 dont download it!!) :

Make a back up (Just in case )
Boot into xrecovery and flash it (Only if you are in wolfs ROM!)
Reboot your phone,now you can see that the reboot option is gone (sorry but i dont know how to add the reboot option )

Shut down your phone and boot into xrecovery Flash the Screenshot zip,reboot your phone and wait till it boots.
As you can see now you will have the Screenshot Option like this:

Try to wipe your cache and dalvik cache maybe thats the problem sorry but i really dont test it on Stock only on Wolfs Rom

Exactly what I have been in the hunt for and also packaged to be pain free. Unfortunately, I have the screenshot function in my power menu but I get the following toast
Error : Unable to save screenshot
mBitmap = null
then followed by a second toast
Screenshot is saved at null
I seem to have all the functionality there except screenshot to launch. Any ideas as I am on Wolfs ROM and ICS Theme v1.1. The only difference is I wasn't able to see or select the Set UID when editing permissions. As I couldn't see it as an option.

Well you need to fix permissions to make it working as i said before try using root explorer or ROM manager to fix it if you use Root Explorer set it as r/w dont know what else could be the problem sorry

This works fine in Wolfs ROM but i think that this should work nice also in the Stock GB 2.3.3 Rom.
For people who are in wolfs ROM download this (if you are using stock GB 2.3.3 dont download it!!) :

So, i'm having 3 little problems:
1- the reboot option on powerboot menu is gone, any idea of what could happened ?
2- i used the file manager to change the permissions, but there is no"special permissions" options, only the options shown on higher part of the picture.
3- the phone got as brighter it can. the bright settings on screen settings cannot be acessed anymore, if i try to change the brightness, i got a message error of the sistem.
any ideas ?
