Hi everyone, so i bricked my phone after rooting it and trying new ROM. Unfortunately i'm a noob and didnt make a backup before.. So now the phone is on loop mode and basically i've tried almost every guide that is out there to unbrick it, still no luck
It gives me installation aborted error message and even if the installation of new rom succeeds, it still keeps on looping :S
Is there a way unbricking it or should i use it as a hammer from now on..
Any help is appreciated, tnx!
EDIT: Maybe it helps to answer, if i write what i've done so far and describe the problem.
It's on the loop mode, which means it doesnt go further than the screen with green htc text. I can bootload and hit recovery with pressing power and down button on same time. Before Fastboot, recovery, factory sheet, simlock and image crc it tells sd checking and "no image". PB31IMG.zip is also on the sdcard and have tried to install that, still abort message..
I've tried with update.zip file, it gives me following error and the end:
file_getprop: failed to stat ''/system/build.prop'' no such file or directory
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
Status 7
Installation aborted.
Wiped cache, data and etc
Disabled signature verification
Tried with RUU, turned off unnessecary programs, disabled firewall and antivirus.
It gives error [170]:usb connection error.
Yes usb is connected to the pc and phone.
Phone has Revolutionary cwm

What else should i try ? I certanly can't think of anything
Fixed it myself after a 2 day marathon..
1. Put PG86IMG.zip and Virtuous_shooter-v.1.0.1 file on the sdcard..
2. Rebooted to recovery, PG86IMG image started the update.
3. Deleted the zip file from card and rebooted again.
4. Installed Virtuous_Shooter zip file and it started to update system and booted itself
Thats it!
Worked for me
PG86IMG should work almost every time.

Hey guys,
Every time I try to install the "Monster_2.3.2_4.5.153_updater_Rooted.zip" ROM from Droid Life the install aborts with an error message and I have nothing left to do but to remove the battery and reinsert it. When I do that however, I get to the boot loader with an error message and I have to revert to the stock SBF and re-root my phone, re-bootstrap recovery, boot in recovery, and try again - I'm feeling lucky. I have done this about seven or eight times, nine as we speak, and so far with absolutely no success. I would really like to know if I am doing something wrong here, I have installed other ROMs with success such as Fission and Liberty.
The last few lines of error message in the installer were as follows:
...
Unmounting Systen ...
updatinig radio image ...
assert failed: motorola.update_cdma_bp("/tmp/rdl.bin", "/tmp/bp.img")
E:Error in /sdcard/Monster_2.3.2_Rooted.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
---
The Device being used is a Droid 2 Global with the stock SBF running.
And that is all that I get, this problem has repeated itself many times and I have tried installing the above ROM while having another version and ROM installed both with no success. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Have you tried to apply that monster.zip file from the Bootstrap Recovery app & choose the option to choose the zipfile?
Do you have it in the root of the /sdcard directory?
Hello.
Sorry I'm new to modifying my Android phone but a friend of mine who has flashed his phone wasn't able to help so I hope you can give me some advices.
First of all, I have to mention that i have bought the HTC Desire at ebay, so I don't know what the former owner has done with the phone.
At the start i made a factory reset.
Then I rooted the phone with unrevoked.
After that I have copied the RCMixS_v1.8_A2SD+_BravoHboot ROM on my sdcard.
When I know start into Recovery Mode I first wipe data and cache partition.
There he tells that he completed the tasks but Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log and Can't find MISC: (I don't know if this is a real error or not)
Next I install the zip from sdcard. Everything seems fine but at the end following messages appear:
Running A2SD+ Setup
Running ROM configuration scripts ...
Preparing ROM sdcard directory ...
Writing boot.img ...
assert failed: write_raw_image/"/tmp/boot.img","boot")
E:Error in /sdcard/RCMixS_v1.8_A2SD+_BravoHboot.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
First I thought that I've bricked the phone but everythink works fine, as if I haven't done anything...
I tried this also with some other ROMs but nothing really worked.
Informations about the system:
ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.7
HBOOT-0.93.0001
Android 2.2
Build-Number 2.33.163.1 CL277878 release-keys
Software-Number 2.33.163.1
Thanx for your upcoming help.
-Best regards
Have you checked the sdcard? Seems to me from the error message you posted that your phone has problems reading and/or writing to it. Try another "known good" card if possible.
This issue has been common on the Mytouch 4g and G2. I'm pretty sure the Desire HD and Mt4G have very similar hardware so it wouldn't surprise me if it has similar issues. try using the ****IMG.zip file related to your device. I dont know what the DHD is, like the MT4g it's PD15IMG.zip that reverts all to stock through Hboot. if you get Fail-PU errors in hboot you might be screwed.
I will try that out. I hope that will work.
Hello, it's me again.
I tried it out with another SD card with the same effect -> error while boot.img
Now i tried it with a goldcard and tried it out with PB99IMG.zip
nearly everything worked fine, dispite of radio_V2 -> Fail-PU
everything els was ok.
at the end there stood
partition update fail!
update fail
now when i start my phone, after the htc logo i can only see a black screen with a phone and a red exclamation mark.
I see the same, if i try to boot into the recovery.
I still can boot into hboot and fastboot
so now i went into fastboot and startet RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe on my PC.
seems that it worked. now i can flash a new ROM. Thanks for your help.
Sorry it's me again....
I just dont wanna work... Now I have another Android version on my phone but still the same error.
Also when I try to backup
There's the error:
Backing up boot...
Error while dumping boot image!
It really seems that I just can't write boot images on the sd card. I've tried it out with another one. Maybe next week I can test it on a SD card of a friend of mine, who already flashed his phone with his card.
Current Versions:
ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.7 (same as before)
Software Number: 2.29.405.5 (downgrade worked)
it's me once more
i didn't had much time latly but i tried it out once again with another sd card. A friend of mine flashed his phone with it, but in my case, it didnt work.
Its again the error, when the system tries to write the boot.img on the sd card.
Any other ideas?
-with best regards
Yes. Flash AmonRA 2.0.0 or 2.0.1 recovery and try flashing rom again.
Howdy all, yay another newbie!
Phone is a droid 2, verizon network. I rooted it last night with the super 1click, have SU access, wireless tether and installed rom manager free version.
Flashed cwm recovery to 2.5.08, tried to backup existing rom and had an immediate reboot with no backup made. Tried repeatedly same results, reflashed cwm repeatedly same results. Tried to change the cwm recovery version, and have
2.5.08
2.5.1.4
2.5.1.3
2.5.1.1
listed. But trying to load any but 2.5.08 returns "An error occurred while downloading your recovery.
I tried going into CWM recovery through rom-manager but it immediately reboots back to normal, no recovery screen.
I entered into normal recover and tried to run the 'update.zip' which returns
E:Can't open /cacherecover/command
Install from sdcard
finding update package
opening update package
verifying update package
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
installation aborted
I wiped back to factory through the normal recovery screen and started fresh and am getting exactly the same as before with everything above tried again.
I have not tried installing a new rom, don't want to go that deep until I know I can reset if needed.
Any help or other ideas? What I've been able to find by searching hasn't resolved the problem yet.
I can boot with volume up and get to the recovery screen. I am combing threads and doing all I can now. Any help is greatly appreciated. Downloading the SDK on slow work internet now and attempting to get all files I think I might need as we speak.
give members more details [what did u flash etc], so they can help u.
No, if you have recovery mode available nothing is lost.
Just download a ROM you like, and try flashing it. If it doesn't work, try formatting and then flashing again.
I flashed one click stock and I saw that SYSTEM failed while it was running. Now I get no boot but I can get to the stock recovery.
How do I get a rom onto the phone in its current state?
when I boot with the vol up / power combination I get a small menu for reboot bootloader, reboot, recovery or power off. If I select recovery I get the triangle icon with the ! and then after a minute or so I can get to what looks like a very small clockwork menu with: reboot system now, apply update from /sdcard, wipe data/factory reset or wipe cache partition. I have tried to apply a rom I had on in the list but it failed verification and the list is only partital it does not let me go all the way down.
In recovery you can still use adb to transfer files to the device.
Code:
adb push update.zip /sdcard
I am having trouble getting adb to work. I am following these instructions but something seems to be wonky?
http://androidadvices.com/how-to-install-set-up-and-use-adb-for-android-devices/#.UAWbt7Sm_Nk
can you point me in a better direction to get adb access
I just noticed at the bottom of my screen in slightly greyed out copy it reads: FASTBOOT STATUS - FAILINVALID COMMAND

That small menu as you called it is fastboot.
That recovery is stock recovery.
Connect to phone to computer and use fastboot to flash a custom recovery. Boot into said recovery. Mount usb storage. Transfer rom over to phone. factory reset/format system and flash new rom.
If you don't know how set up and use fastboot. Look it up.
I got the bootloader unlocked and TWRP installed but whenever I try to flash a rom I get the error message " E:error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip (status 7)
Any thoughts?

Do a full wipe, re-download the rom ( make sure its the correct rom for your device) and try again.
If it still fails. Flash the official stock images and make sure that at least works
I am fully wiped but I am going through the process again just to be sure, all I have on the device right now is TWRP its unlocked and boots into TWRP recovery fine. But everytime I flash, I have tried 3 roms and one was the NS4G_IMM76d_deodexed it hits me with the same error as before: e:error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip (status 7)
I am searching frantically for a fix, any help is appreciated.

Download the following files:
7-Zip from http://www.7-zip.org
https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/sojus-imm76d-factory-10660f4c.tgz
http://android.kcomputerzone.com/stock/sojus-imm76d-factory_windows-scripts.zip
http://android.kcomputerzone.com/extras/crespo-drivers.zip (just in case you need them)
Install 7-Zip
Extract sojus-imm76d from sojus-imm76d-factory-10660f4c.tgz (You will need to go in multiple levels deep to get to folder) to your desktop.
Extract contents of sojus-imm76d-factory_windows-scripts.zip to the sojus-imm76d on your the desktop.
With phone in bootloader mode run flash-all.cmd in the sojus-imm76d folder.
If all worked it should be boot and be working.
That should restore yours to default firmware all using fastboot. Hope this helps.
This site (http://nexusshacks.com/nexus-s-root/how-to-root-nexus-s-or-nexus-s-4g-on-ics-or-gingerbread/) got me up and running with TWRP then I been having issues flashing roms, I am able to get a Peter Alfonso stock rom to boot but then if I try to flash I get the same error. I was able to ODIN the stock 4.0.4 but nothing seems willing to flash via clockwork or TWRP.
Ok just to bring some closure to this, thanks for all the help. My problem with the status 7 error was that I was using the wrong clockwork recovery. It was bundled in a one click root for Nexus Galaxy and Nexus S, the Root worked great but the recovery was the incorrect version. In any event I am now 100% functional. Thanks to all that helped out.

That is the problem with One click root/unroot. I know the simplicity is awesome but the end user is learning nothing. Doing it the ol' fashion way teaches the user how to use SDK, ADB, and other important simple things. I always say use the guide and do it yourself. Problems happen and instead of having to start a new thread you can trouble shoot it yourself. :good:
hi all,
i have a problem with my xperia l. here's the story :
originally, i have xl with cm12 installed + re-partitioned internal (i'm using this guide), but i have stability issue after some time. then i tried resurrect remix rom, but i still have my problem (even worsen). so i was thinking about checking with stock rom, and i tried to flash stock rom back. but there's a error when processing userdata.sin on first try. i thought my tft was corrupted, so i tried to re-download it and tried flashing again, but the error still there.
after third attempts, the error message started to differ (forgot to log it ). so i tried to get into recovery, but i found error about "failed to mount /cache", "failed to mount /system" and so on. i have tried to mount manually in recovery menu, but failed, and sdcard read 0mb.
i have tried to solve by myself and some solution from forums, and still got no luck with it. what i have tried :
- trying to re-flashing tft again and again. latest error when processing loader.sin :
ERROR - (X10flash.java:520) - Error in processHeader : 22 : The device does not recognize the command.
- trying some recovery like cwm, thunderzap, twrp (i tried after read this post), but no luck and can't find restore filesystem menu).
- trying accessing adb, can't get in
- finally able to get into terminal from twrp, but only found parent folder without anything inside.
so, i think the partitions are damaged or something happened to them and i can't access them.
please help.... :crying:
NB. currently boot into fastboot, flashmode, recovery, charging, led, flashing boot.img, and external sdcard still working, so i hope my xl still can be saved . and i'm sorry for any typo
UPDATE :
finally hardbricked my phone. i'm getting impatient waiting some reply and no luck searching forum. so i messing around by myself, and found problem on superblock. i've fixed superblock once on linux, but in adb some commands are unavailable, and i can't search for backup superblock, so i tried to reformatted it (followed guide from some nexus forum, well, thinking androids have same base), and then i accidentally disconnect the usb. next is, well, i screamed.
Did you find any solution of this problem????
