LG Thrill or Samsung Infuse - LG Optimus 3D

I have a at&t upgrade coming up soon and was wondering wether I should get a Samsung Infuse 4g or a LG Thrill 3D. Any opinions would be great.

infuse is single core and Thrill is dual core and has 3D,3D recording, better GPU..so my opinion go for thrill 3d

I picked up a Thrill today...I own and use an Infuse...
I will give you my opinion/comparison Monday
So far...the lag on the thrill is pretty insane, but it was bad on the infuse stock as well. The infuse isn't stock anymore so that isn't a really fair comparison.

i dunno about the thrill but on Optimus 3D P920 the stock rom is as smooth as a custom rom in my old galaxy S! no lag at all.!

I'm on the hunt for a worthy successor to my tilt2, and before I take the plunge I'd really like hear your reviews on these two phones!
Please don't forget to post back after you try them both out.
With my ATT- TIlt2 I've been spoiled by windows mobile OS and the ability to sync with my work email - outlook(exchange server), for emails, calendar (meetings), and all contacts in my outlook / exchange server.
So as a second item I hope to find out if either of them are capable of doing the same some way.
One alternative would be to wait for the HTC Titan which has a windows OS, but I don't know if ATT will carry it.
edit: atleast overall on paper the infuse looks to be a better overall package based on this site/comparison:
http://geekaphone.com/compare/LG-Thrill-4G-vs-Samsung-Infuse-4G
The only item is weather or not the dual core in the thrill really even makes a "usable" difference, or if the faster clock in the infuse is equivalent.
But I certainly prefer to hear from 00mred00 from his hands-on comparison.
edit: oh and my titl2 has been somewhat laggy at times with touch flo, etc, so I'd be very eager to have a phone which is NOT laggy for a change... !!
Thanks for any insight!!!

I was just thinking I should put something together for you guys
Overall I like the thrill better...I will put together a full review soon but right now I am stuck at work
In the meantime....if there is any head to head specifics you guys want input on...let me know

SAme as me. I love the Infuse more than The Thrill. run smoother. Gingerbread coming sooner, screen better, no lagging, much lighter, unlock within second (can't find the way to unlock the Thrill after couple days of searching). I'll return this and get the Samsung SII when it's out.
The Thrills have 3D technology, but for me it's useless for now. It's amaze me for 2 mins after couple videos and that's it.

Mind you guy's the Thrill is still NEW and the Infuse isn't so you can go about rooting the Infuse and OC etc. Once the Thrill get's to that point it will be a totally different Experience. I have owned a G2 and still own a MyTouch 4G and rooting with OC made a TON of Difference in how they act.

Thrill al kardes

picked up an infuse and thrill in the store, the infuse seems a little bit more laggy, but it was a floor model, and had all the bloat ware and no modifications.
I had some difficulty typing with the infuse (fat finger) which might have been partially the lag, but I'd probably get used to it. My thumb typing with the full qwerty on the tilt2 was much easier, but I've been doing it for years. The thrill and another HTC phone seemed more positive in hitting the right letters, either due to key spacing or finger detection on the screen. There may be options to modify the keyboard layout in the software anyway.
They could not confirm a launch date for the SGS2, they said the Iphone5 was about a month away. I'll probably wait until mid October to put a few more devices in hand.

Nexus Prime. *nuff said*
If you can't wait just get the infuse, And get the ROM and Mods also the Kernel that I have in my sig...
So, is the Thrill better than Infuse?
Well it's Dual Core and 3D but that's it lol.
You should just wait and get the gs2 if you can't wait and need a phone fast the thrill would be the best phone you can get wen it comes out.. that is if LG don't do what they did to the g2x on Tmo.. just wait Till it comes out read some reviews and make you're choice that way. Because the infuse is a really good phone IMO...

IMHO 3D is mostly bull**** on phones. If it doesn't give you a headache it'll languish for lack of content. Hell 3D in movie theaters isn't all that good, on a phone it's just a gimmick.

If your still have to wait for thrill 3d release, might as well wait for galaxy s2. Infuse is amazing phone with infused rom and infusion kernel, but why not wait and get the best dual core phone of them all. The exynos processor is many times better than the dual core in thrill or in any other phone right now, so if I were you I would wait for galaxy s2 it should be released this month.

Not to start an argument or whatever but im sick of people calling 3D on a phone a "gimmick". Would all features/specs not related to making/recieving calls be considered "gimmick" features? Why do we need dual cores/4"+ touchscreens/large amounts of onboard and optional removable storage space ect. to make and rec calls? So to call the 3D a "gimmick", well i guess thats just the easiest way to pick fun at somthing different.
To the OP go to the store and check them both out, when available, and decide what you want from your equipment. Yes content for 3D phones may still be scarce, as 3D phones are still very new to the market, however it does offer an experiance you wont find on a non-3D phone. Play, test, compare, and play some more and get what YOU like!
Just picked one up at target for $49.99...it's charging now

Enjoy ! ! !
a thrill 4g?
and im pretty sure that the actual nexus prime will not release on a CDMA network when it has always been a GSM network, considering the fact that European countries mostly use GSM.
secondly, "Droid" is a Verizon trademark. There can not be Nexus phone using the name "Droid" since the Nexus line of phones have always been global. so the Droid Prime is another phone. there can not be a O2 Droid Prime, of a Vodafone Droid Prime. Droid is verizons simple as that.

I agree with the second part of this phone. To me when i played with the Evo 3D, the "3D" just made the screen blurry. lol. but yet i am getting temped to buy one. but i will wait out the nexus prime... cuz you know.... Optimus Prime needs his Nexus Prime. lol

Costco released the thrill today for 29.99. I work there.

Since you work at Costco, do you know how much $ the Infuse is this week?
Not to revive an old old thread but I am in the same boat.
I have LG Thrill 3D 4G right now on AT&T and I am torn on exchanging it with Infuse. I want Atrix and have had 4 Atrix phones, always move to a new phone and then go back to Atrix.
To cut story short, a guy is doing a straight trade for Infuse for my Thrill and I am not sure if I want any Samsung or any AMOLED screen ever after experiencing burn-in on my Captivate.
Do you guys know if they fixed it in Infuse or is it the same and get burn-in after usage?

Infuse 4g or Lg optimus 2x? which to buy?

The title says it all.
Infuse has its own plus points (S-AMOLED, better battery backup)
while optimus 2x has full CM7 support, 1080p hd recording, dual core etc.
so.....what say you?
Post in that really big comparison thread.
Sent from my not-an-iPod
do you want better specs or a better screen?
I'd pick Samsung over LG any day. Esp with the screen in Captivate and Infuse, I am unable to go to any other phone
well....since you put it that way, lg all the way!
LG Junk is junk.
Infuse w/ MIUI > LG w/ CM7.
I had the LG g2x and it was the worst phone I ever owned hands down. Had horrible LCD backlight bleed, went through 3 replacements and they all had it.

Depends, how often are you gonna record videos? How much gaming do you do? (I'm not talkin Angry Birds here, I mean games that will use the dual cores)
If you do either one of these on a daily basis go for LG, BUT in all reality, 720p video is still pretty damn good, my M11x laptop is 720p and still looks crystal clear
Now, how many times are you going to use your screen?? Haha ya...Infuse wins that one. The screen is the main selling point of the Infuse, and trust me, I was sold after first look.
We've got CM7, not fully supported, but it's here and once official GB gets here, who knows what will happen.
Galaxy s 2. Or galaxy nexus.
Notice motorola and lg, both switched to omap4 on there new phones. The Tegra2 sux.
The infuse while great is old news, three gs2 is super fast and threw galaxy nexus had an even bigger better screen. But its not unmanageable. The screen had a different aspect ratio making it 1mm narrower than the infuse while being about 5mm taller.

i worked for tmobile when we brought out the g2x. i love the specs and almost stock android
but the phone had tons of problems, random reboots, and tons and tons of other issues. (which is why we stopped getting stock for a month or so)
although we never officially admitted it. so if your buying a used one i would say def not, a new or recent batch, should be okay

which reminds me, tell your lady friends to never have naked or semi naked pics on their phone, if u show a cell phone rep there ur phone for w/e reason, they will go through them , and or show them to other people, and or post them on the internet
lol
it was really frustrating, people wiht g2x would come in with tons oif problems like random reboots, unresponsiveness, light bleeding, and we were told to pretend like nothing was wrong and tell them it wasnt happening to most people lol . (then again it wasnt a coprorate tmobile)
Well i do film videos of hd quality fairly often, and game ever-so-intermittently.
The main issue here is whether or not the infuse is "future proofed".
Rumours suggest that the o2x might be getting ICS (via CM9) at the dawn of 2012 whilst the infuse having no official cm7 support might be left behind.
As for the 02x, i'll be purchasing a brand new one, will it still suffer the backlight bleeding, random reboots etc etc? heard they were fixed with the latest 2.3.4 update, but correct me if i'm wrong.
And in my budget, these 2 are the only real options.
I almost got that LG, ended up going to AT&T instead of Tmobile though (cuz Tmobile lied to me) anyway the infuse is what I ended up having to settle for due to choosing AT&T ...dude I thought I wanted the LG more, I was wrong! the only bad thing about samsung/att is that they make os updates take much longer to get to your phone. (the infuse still doesnt have gb, and a new os is dropping already)

How is the Skyrocket??

Hi everyone, I'm am very curious to see how everyone is liking there Skyrocket? I purchased the LG Thrill 4G about 2 weeks ago and love the 3D features and I think personally it is a solid phone, but the fact that it has Android 2.2 is really killing me, and there are some minor issues with the phone such as crappy WiFi signal, supposed 4G signal strength but really its H+ and the DL speed never goes above 3Mbps, 3D features are actually pretty amazing but only flaw I've seen is while recording 3D Videos the audio is not in sync with the video at all and the LG Thrill 4G is missing the best 3D feature that its counterpart the LG Optimus 3D has which is the 3D Game Converter, my only other leaning factor to not keep the LG Thrill 4G and get the Skyrocket is because the dev community for LG Thrill is very tiny, and I'm a flashaholic LOL....anyways if your still reading please let me know your rants and raves about the Skyrocket, don't just tell me the good either if there is any issues please let me know about them. So far I've only seen one bad thing about the Skyrocket and that is the thing about At&t controlling what apps can connect to data and some websites not working on the browser.

I had a LG G2X on T-Mobile when it first came out. It's the reason I'm on AT&T. LG provides atrocious support, half their devices are still on 2.2, and they're totally clueless about s/w on high-end phones. I'd dump it while you're still in your remorse period and get the SR, ASGS2, or Vivid. Anything will be better in the long run for both s/w and dev support. Read the G2X forum if you want to see what life with an LG phone looks like.
Skyrocket is superior. Noone will argue that. It's all about what you need/like/want.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Doesnt the thrill also only have 512 megs ram? Also the skyrocket is confirmed definately recieving android 4.0 ice cream sandwich. And the super amoled display drfinately much better. Go to att and play with one i bet with in the first 5 minutes you will have made up your mind.
Yes I exchànged the SGII for the Skyrocket and really like the device. Not much bigger or bulk compared to the SGII. The HTC Vivid is also another great device which I am testing as well. The screen resolution on the Vivid is great. So far, both devices are great and each has its pros and cons.
Test out both at the store and you can judge which will work best for you.

AT&T SkyRocket in Washington DC
Haha definately agree with this +100 ^^^^^^
I've had mine for one day and I like it a lot. A definite powerhouse phone. I came from the Captivate. I need to get BLN working via a modified kernel so I can run Blinky for notifications, and a modified mail.apk that strips Exchange pin requirements. Hope I can find the right ROM and kernel for this soon. I haven't done any ROM research just yet.
Thought this was a good place to post this comment. After transferring videos filmed with my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 S II Skyrocket to my Windows 7 desktop pc (filetype is MP4), the video and audio are out of sync / not in sync / mis-aligned. File size was a mere 30MB.
This was true of Quicktime, RealPlayer, Windows Media Player, etc.
Anyone else having a similar experience?
I haven't had issues with out of sync videos. I've uploaded videos from the SR directly to Facebook, and they turned out great. Also uploaded them to my Windows 7 PC using "Dropbox," which worked great.
To answer the question from the original poster - I love my SR. Came from an iPhone, and won't go back. Having too much fun with the SR, love the big screen, the speed, the capacity, what's not to like? My only gripe is the battery life, but I've had the same issues with other smartphones, so it just comes with the territory.

G2X or SGSII

Hey G2X users!!
I have been contemplating this situation for months! Now i wanna get the users personal opinion
What is your take on the LG G2X? Is it good? I looked at the specs on LG's website and im liking them. But how does it feel being used every day? Is it better or worse than the SGSII? If so by how much? I really hate buying new things cause i hate when i buy the wrong thing Thanks so much guys for your time!

what are the prices for them is it craigslist, or literally a new like straight from T-Mobile? Overall in my opinion SGS II or wait for a couple months and get the SGS III, or HTC One S now, I say stay from the G2X cause of lack of support from both parties that put the phone out.

Well the sgs2 is average 350+ and they claim it's "like new" or "used for only one week" which I find hard to believe. and the lg g2x average 200+ and I have a pre paid plan from t mobile and love it so I wouldn't be able to get the sgs3 sadly (that phone looks so sexy ) and yes the HTC one s I could most likely get but the people I've talked to about their sgs2 say the the sgs2 is better (I don't see how ) and they use that as their means for being firm about their price. The GS2 is more expensive, but it's a better investment. It has generally better specs, and the Development looks more promising because of Samsung's support.

If I could go back in time, I would wait a week for the SII. It came out a week right after I got the G2x. Stock, I found the G2x to be nearly unbearable. Rooted with custom ROMs, it's good. Not sure how the development community is for the SII, but I'd still probably pick it over the G2x

WHO knows when sg3 will actually come to Us even more TMobile which get everything lastly. Not too mention the price it might be.

Well I guess I'll have to wait xD wish I could sell my stupid Sirius satellite radio and Kyle Yamaha keyboard then I'd have plenty lol thanks all for your comments! Didn't realize the g2x was that bad it actually looked pretty sweet and in terms of development I'd just need a fully working cm7 ROM with data2ext working which takes care of the 512mb issue but I'll wait
Sent from my HTC HD2 using Tapatalk
I just ordered a gently used G2x on ebay (they go around $200, depending on condition). This is a good value for the specs. The Galaxy S2 is $350+, which gets into a new Galaxy Nexus territory. From what I've researched, custom ROMs like CM7 should be pretty stable and fully functional, most of the problems with the G2x are software anyway. Only hardware issue is the camera dust under cover, which I plan to remedy by putting a clear tape over the LED flash, which I normally don't use anyway.
Also LG already announced ICS for Optimus 2X (international version), it's just delayed again to 3rd quarter, once that is out, one of the major problems with current CM9 ROMs should be resolved (no video acceleration or recording).
Speaking from experience, I have both phones.
GS2 wins for stability, just works, and has a better camera than the LG G2X. But..... personally I'm not thrilled with the GS2 device for the sheer size.
I've used G2X for almost a year. You just have to find a ROM you can live with and make tweaks so that it won't freeze/crash while charging. Other than that, phone is solid. CM7 was best ROM and overall performance. Stock gave best battery but I can't stand STOCK ROMs.
But the biggest reason I really switched to the GS2 was sick of the random crazy battery life and the GPS never working when I need it for emergencies.
I made the mistake of not test driving the GS2 on T-mobile store to get a better feel. Big screen with low resolution is what pisses me off, on top of the fact that the size of the phone isn't friendly to my small hands. If I overlook those two flaws, sure its awesome phone.
Also, the T989 just doesn't have a variety of ROMS available and have to wait for the official release from Tmobile, CM7 isn't reliable for it (I love CM7), and has no CM9 love yet.
I might overlook the negatives I have if Dev for T989 picked up. Until then, it works, reliable, and no headaches.

Can't use the baseband if you want a nice, custom ROM, though.

True. Check out swappa or look around for deals. I don't think you will find if you plan on going prepaid.

I own a G2X, my buddy has a Sgs2 an I would not trade him dead even! The G2X is resilient and easily customizable. Dev support for the G2X is 50 to 1 compared to the Sgs2. I have (and still do) flashed numerous Roms and Kernels to my phone with little or no issue. He bricked his rather quickly. He got his second one and asked me to root and customize - which I did. I was astonished at how little there was to look at / choose from in the Samsung forums here.
bang for your buck? +1 for the G2X
better screen and lots more $$$, go for the s2.
my two pennies.

You must be talking about T-Mobile GS2. SGS2 international is one of the best supported devices out there, has official ICS + fully functional CM9.
Sweet, love all the input guys!! Really giving me a lot to work with and make my decision harder xD
I have a few questions, I found an SGS2 CM7 ROM that lists everything as working. And i too love CM7 waiting for AOKP or CM9 to obtain all the awesome features that CM7 has then i'll make the swap.
From what you guys posted it seems like the G2X has better stability and development. And yes i am talking about the SGH-T989 i cannot use the international version on T-Mobile as it doesnt support the 1700mhz frequency so i wont get 3G.
I am really liking the SGS2 ive been on youtube looking at different videos and it looks pretty awesome. Plus the super amoled display is stunning. Also, to the person who commented on the SGS2 having a lower resolution, what exactly do you mean? Are you saying the 800x400 is too small for the size? The screen is only .2 inches bigger than my HD2 which has the same resolution and i dont see it a problem. I might get the SGS2, i do really like the Amoled display. Ugh decisions decisions xD
Thanks all for the awesome information!
Got another question, 7o both phones support more than two finger multi touch?

Last day with a G2X

Had it since January. Want a better quality screen (resolution-wise) and camera. Other than that, HellFire was awesome to me for the most part. The most recent ICS issues with data drops really bugged me too. GPS locks were never instant, but decent - another slight nuisance. I figure for $100-$150 more a Galaxy Nexus is worth it to me at this point, or something comparable. Actually if the LG Optimus 4G LTE works for me on WIND mobile that could be a good buy for only like $50 more. I just don't know if data will be 2G speeds or not. Yet to find out. If anyone knows that and sees this message, please do respond. It's been fun, this was my first Android. Got to really figure out a lot of stuff, since with this device our support basically is the XDA forums as LG doesn't help us any. Can't believe how bad the stock ROMs are for this device. Incredible they'd even release a device with those ROMs. Anyway, selling it today and then shopping for a new Android. Likely a Galaxy Nexus at this point. Please advise if there are other options! Thanks to xoxhell and all the other developers for this device.
update to stock 2.3.4 will fix all the problem you listed
Due to my experience with this phone and lack of support from LG, I am done buying any LG products in the future. This could have been a great phone had LG just given the community development teams what they needed from the start. Do you think the experience will be any different for other LG products? I don't.

By the way, I got my girlfriend a galaxy nexus for her birthday and that is an awesome phone. You can't go wrong there.

I know how you feel. Think I might use my HD2 with a WP7 ROM on it... then jump to the galaxy s3 when/if it gets here...
Hate how LG/Nvidia/T-Mobile/whoever really made this phone one of the least desirable devices when it has so much potential...

Fully aware of this. HellFire 2.2 even is great and a rock solid ROM with no issues. But, I don't really want to run Gingerbread. For $100 more I'd rather get a phone with a much nicer screen resolution and quality (bigger screen size is a minor plus as well) and a phone I don't have to worry about ICS issues with. The support for this phone is crap, let's all face it. I will miss this phone, mainly cuz it was my first Android and I had fun learning how to use Titanium effectively, how to switch between ROMs, etc (since these are absolute necessities with this phone), but man I will not miss the little nuisances I constantly had with this phone because of LG's terrible support.
And yeah, I briefly looked at the 4G LTE but when it comes down to it... the support will be garbage as well. Great quality screen, but same old terrible LG support. Galaxy Nexus it most likely will be...
My daughter's G2X was stolen at school and I was thinking about giving her my G2X and getting a Galaxy Nexus. I don't know if its really worth it. 130 for another G2X or 400 for a Nexus with ICS that always gets updates.
MIUI = WIFI calling does not work which I rarely use.
CM7 = Phone freezes while unless I use faux and setcpu to down clock while screen is off but the battery life is amazing.
Weapon G2X = no T9 dialer unless I download one and use notigo to clear missed calls.
ICS = no drivers
Galaxy Nexus has working ICS with T9 dialer but no wifi calling.
I have some thinking to do.

Sold my g2x to t-mobile for their deal and got 100 towards a trade up... Switched over to the galaxy s2 and couldnt be happier. My g2x had some scratches on the bezel and a screen scratch so it was a good value deal. Just happy to have something that will get ics and.... Everything actually works consistently. Loved the g2x as a first android but it was underutilized unfortunately.

One of the best things about the G2X is the size... it is a very compact phone.
That is why im staying with mine for now...I use it as a cheap wifi hotspot in my van and takes up no space...
All the issues ive had in the past have gone away since ive updated the baseband last week...GPS is amazing and everything else has been flawless with the stock, rooted kwes rom...

It could have been smaller if they didn't make such a ridiculously large bezel at the bottom of the G2x. So much wasted space. O_O

That's ALL manufactures in the US when it comes to updates. I had the Vibrant before this and it was quickly forgotten about by Samsung. If I don't like the nexus when I'm ready to upgrade my phone I'll be done with android due to the poor software updates.

Put these phones side by side and don't really notice a difference size wise at all, despite the Galaxy Nexus having the bigger screen. And I saw this new baseband, any ICS support yet? Don't really care either way. Same old stuff with the LG phone, having to constantly hack and update it to it's wannabe Galaxy Nexus status yet it will never happen. The extra $100-$150 for the GN is worth it to me. I totally understand how it's not for some people. Although, I would think if you know enough about phones to even know about the XDA forums then IMO it probably also would be worth the extra money to you to get a GN. That's just my thoughts. Also, the screen resolution and screen quality is considerably better on the GN.
I've been there, that was me, trying to defend the LG Optimus P999. But I gave up defending it, time to switch. I was in denial long enough lol. Well that, and money was an issue for me a few months back...

The difference is that most manufacturers at least release a working rom while being tight arses about community support. LG didn't release a decent rom until well after a year from release, and it's already outdated.
You can't go wrong with the galaxy nexus... I want one now. The only "flaw" is that there's no more mass storage device support in ICS. I use Linux, so I either use my network drive over smb or adb to transfer files. Windows works fine though.

As bitter as I sound about the LG Optimus P999, I would say it is an outstanding value phone. Throw on HellFire 2.2 based on Gingerbread and this thing is super snappy and runs great. It's when you're trying to have the latest and greatest as far as software goes... this thing really pisses you right off.
I did it. I ordered one. I'll still have 3 g2x's in the house.

I got a sgs2 and really like it. No official ics but it's awesome even on GB. Still have a g2x around as a backup and I like that phone too. Updated baseband worked really well.

Yeah, I'm getting my GN today but still have 3 friends or family that have the G2X and IMO that is like the perfect phone for them still because of valueerformance and them not being techie's not caring about the latest and greatest. Sounds like this baseband is far along enough to go with now. I shyed away when I still had my G2X, mainly because it limited what ROMs you could put on. Can you put on HellFire 2.2 with the new baseband or any ICS ROMs yet? I'll still be monitoring the xda G2X forums as my friends and family still own it.
