Text message - HTC Sensation

For the last 3 hrs when I would send a text message it will don't beck saying "unable to send message after multiple attempts" and then I'll receive them late as well. This just started 3 hrs ago. Are there any known outages that I should be aware of? I switched over to wifi and it seems to be working fine for my text messages

It's most likely a Network problem. Try restarting your phone, and if that doesn't work just wait for the problem to be fixed.

I've been having the same issues today using my G2X. Several messages sent/received much later than they were initially sent. Kinda annoying.

Not Receiving Text Messages

Not sure if anyone has came across this but its happened 3 times now, I have not done a factory reset yet but i think every time it has happened i have been temp rooted. I cant say this is the cause because i havent seen any other people complaining about it, i use Chomp SMS the Donate version i reboot my phone and i can receive texts again the funny thing is the texts people sent me i never get even after reboot. any ideas???
Thanks in Advance!!
Are you referring to when you know you got a message, and but then it's gone? Try downloading gingerbread ghostly sms in the market... That catches the messages before they're lost, and can allow you to move them to your inbox. I've used it for a while haven't had a problem with it

Text messages not being sent

Is anyone else having a problem with text messages not being sent? Im using handcent and every so often a message will show the spinning icon indicating that its being sent. It just keeps spinning and spinning. When I open the stock messaging app and check the status of the message it says it was sent right when I had originally tried to send it through handcent. The person I send the message to never gets the message though.
Has anyone else had this problem? Am I going to be stuck using the stock app?
I had this problem, went back to the stock app, but it only happens when I'm at work and I go in the basement and then come out, because of the reconnecting to data bug I have to restart my phone or it won't get data, send texts or anything, I usually take my 4s to work

I've had this problem as well. Sometimes i send the message again and that solves the problem. I am not rooted and still using the stock ruu. I'm hoping it's just due to a connectivity bug that will be remedied in the OTA update...if it ever comes.

Same here. Failed messages, failed notification, dropped signal etc etc. Hoping the official OTA fixes all of that soon.

My phone is having this same problem, except it's a little worse. The phone reports the SMS as not sent but it still reaches its destination, so I'll have iPhone users getting 2-4 copies of one text. Embarrassing.
Thanks for the replies guys. Although Im glad to hear that its not just me (I can avoid requesting a replacement) it still sucks and I too hope it gets fixed with an update.

I'm hoping that this is a software issue, because my 30 days are up in a few days and they're out of stock.. because I have this same exact problem.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
When you sent the message with handcent, did you happen to reply with the pop up reply box?
I use go sms and had the same issue where text were not being sent. But it only happens if I reply from the pop up notification. If I text from within the go sms app, I can text perfectly fine. I love the pop up reply so that I don't have to exit an app to reply, especially with the strict app management on the hox.

Last time it happened, I had sent a text from within the app. I installed go sms also, but I really want to use Handcent. I love that I can reply using the popup on handcent without unlocking my screen. I cant do that with go sms.

Another +1 on this. Occasionally have the problem with SMS, but often have this issue with MMS. Problem is, on my end, everything appears to be fine and that the message was sent, but the recipient is not receiving. I verified this by sending multiple SMS and MMS messages to my wife's phone, some of which were received, some of which were not received.
I have been having this problem also, both using the HTC SMS messenger and Hand cent SMS. Also lose signal from time to time for no reason. I think I'll just get a new phone before the 30 day mark.

It appears to be an issue with all 3rd-party SMS apps.
That said, ChompSMS seems to have identified the problem and resolved it completely. Ever since the last update I've had zero problems with SMS.
So, other apps should hopefully update soon too, or you can switch to Chomp.

Thank you for that information. Im going to try ChompSMS because this is one problem that I can not deal with and if it doesnt stop happening I will have to return my phone and thats something I really dont want to have to do.

I had completely forgotten about chomp. Thanks for reminding me. I started using it and while I still get messages not sending if I reply to a text from the pop up notification, it doesn't do it nearly as much as go sms. With go sms, the message not sending would happen one after another but not with chomp. And even though I don't like the sound, I've set chomp to make a sound after a successful sent message so at least I can tell if my message has sent without having to open the app.
Thanks again for mentioning chomp

SMS not sending from hancent
Having exactly the same problem..
I use Handcent and usually reply from the popup;
but I'm not sure if that's the cause of it not sending the SMS.
I've had the same problem on my old HTC desire.
This is making my GF very angry from time to time
I have the exact same issue i use Go SMS and i hit send but it never does instead it shows the little arrow that represents sending and it never finishes

I have this issue with all my MMS. They never send on first try.

Did anyone ever find a permanent fix for this. Go sms works better then others for me, but is in no way as reliable as it should be.
Is this a problem for every owner of the HOX or just some phones? Not sure if I should get a replacement.

Resent messages

How come when I turn my phone off, people I have been texting will receive messages from me that they have already sent? Sometimes it will be 15 messages at a time. And they aren't messages that werwnt sent before because they come up as sent on my phone and the person also receives them. It typically happens when I turn my phone off, and the people I text the most will receive the most messages. Any ideas? And how can I fix it?

What network are you on, are you rooted, and are you using a particular ROM?
Has this always happened?
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using Tapatalk 2
I'm on T-Mobile, and no I am not rooted and not on a custom Rom. Im not exactly sure if it has been happening since I got the phone but it has been happening for a good amount of time now
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using Tapatalk 2
Do you receive notification that the duplicate messages have been sent? Or can you see the message duplicates from your sent messages (seeing the same message more than once)? Finally, are the messages duplicating the same message, or a series of different messages?
Edit: I would call T-Mobile and have them perform an over the air activation to re-establish your tower connection completely. If that doesnt work then have tech support file a ticket. It sounds like your messages are getting "stuck" on the network. Since tickets take 2-3 days to resolve, go ahead and get it started. I dealt with this a lot at my previous job (AT&T), mostly with MMS though.

No i do not receive notifications but i can see the duplicates from my sent messages. And the duplicates will be several different messages, typically the more recent messages

Hi, I'm bringing this thread back to life because my girlfriends phone is doing the exact same thing. cmrn89, did Biohazard0289's suggestion fix the issue?
Thanks.

Only difference between yesterday (not getting them) and today is that I went from CM9 to Liquid Smooth ROM on my Bionic. That is running 6.7.232. I did wipe data and all the usually just like always. I have actually had the ROM installed for almost 24 hours but just started getting these texts a few hours ago.
I saw another thread where people started getting similar texts after disabling civil alert messages on there phone. I guess the newer phones with that built in

I am pretty sure that CM9 didn't have that app. Also I tried to block the number with Root Call Blocker but it does not work.
Googled it and found this
smswatchdog.com/text-message-from/8656696736337
I suggest using a text blocker and block all unknown numbers from texting u. It appears to be mass spam from an unknown source. Probably a text faker online. If worse comes to worse change your phone number

Generally means go get a new SIM card from T-Mo. Most SMS/MMS fails tend to be theirs.
As long as you aren't using some weird program that doesn't actually work.
