Then you would wish you had a nexus s when icecream sandwich comes out and 5 months later you still haven't received the update. I do agree it is a sweet phone.

My mothers Evo will not update to 2.3 on stock but the 2.3 update just offically came out yesterday and the phone says there are no new updates, but on sprint it says there is.
What do i do? Besides rooting i will not do that because its a damn pain?
You might have to manually update it.

Well hello Samsung user. Welcome to the evo. Rooting this phone is as pain free as turning your samsung on. Maybe you should read up a little bit.

No im good its my mothers for one and i got it to do it the 1st time i went to manually update it said there were no updates available but ok seeing how its out lol. the 2nd time it worked it updated it and thanks.
By the way no its not i've tried before 40 steps no thank you,
Try rebooting the phone, then updating both profile and PRL.
Unrevoked had my 2 evo's rooted in 5 minutes each. Not seeing how that is hard. But anyways, glad you got the update to go through.

[Q] Tethering with current version

Hi!
I'm thinking of buying a nexus s. Is it possible to tether over wifi with the current version? This would be a must have feature for me.
thx
It depends. What carrier? Do you plan on rooting?

I was thinking about buying it from amazon germany.
I just heard that in newer versions (2.3.5+) tethering is completely removed by google. Was this just a temporary thing and it was added again in the latest version?
I have the European version with 2.3.6 and it works just fine.

I think there was only one update that messed up tethering. an update has been released that fixes that issue. the phone also comes with native tethering so you should be able to tether no matter which network you're one
Easytether still works perfectly on the NS4G on 2.3.7 unrooted

They never said it was removed. It was inadvertently broken with the initial 2.3.6 update or made to function within the carrier's parameters (e.g: Sprint's check for PAM when using libsec-ril from 2.3.5).
ok thanks for the info...

FC On MyPhone

I am getting lots of FC's on different apps on the phone, sometimes market force closes or dialer. Phone is running stock gb 2.3.7 .
Phone was already replaced twice may be its a bad batch of phones. Had a evo before never had FC's on the phone, may be HTC does better job on phones than Sammy

T-Mobile 4G speed on unlocked Samsung galaxy s2 skyrocket i727 ICS 4.0.4 Stock

Hello all,
I would like to thank you for this great forum!
I am very new to this, I have an unlocked Samsung galaxy S2 skyrocket i727 ICS 4.0.4 Stock updated via Kies.
My question how do i run my phone on T-Mobile 4G speed, currently I am getting 2G speed i guess which i am downloading at 46kbps?
Please tell me in details how to that, like i said i am very new to this, direct me to post if possible?
Thank you in advance for your help

Thank you very much
But how do I apply this radio file to my phone? If there is a prerequisite step please direct me to a post that teach me how to do it
Do a little searching on the forums, but you effectively have to flash the CWM recovery to your phone so you could then flash over the mod's specified in that thread. I can't go into the whole specifics of doing that as there are TONS of threads on it.

Last time i checked the links on the thread are bad.....I unlocked my skyrocket to tmobile and tried dl but links were bad.......so Im on EDGE on the skyrocket but who cares SGS3 is beast ass phone even with the small ammount of roms and mods for it
Per the linked thread a few posts above, search for the blaze modem suggested. That should get you off the Edge network

Once you flash a tmobile modem to unlock the 4g, also try adding these settings to your build.prop
ro.ril.hsdpa=24
ro.ril.hsupa=6
ro.ril.hsxpa=5
ro.ril.gprsclass=10
Supposedly you should get even better data speeds. I cannot verify this. worth a shot.

Thanks for this information. I managed to get CvD-Nibbles 1.6 (Jelly Bean mod ROM) loaded and Blaze_4G_LB7_ICS_Radio_MOD with this settings. Works better now.
I also managed to load a couple T-Mobile ROM like Liquid_All-Star V5.5 and All-Star-Rom V2-1 with skyrocket kernel Sky_p3.2 and Blaze_4G_LB7_ICS_Radio_MOD plus the build.prop tweak to work great.
