Can someone answer whether it is possible/feasible even to port the Hulu Desktop for Linux package to Android OS / Honeycomb 3.2? If this is possible it may solve web only errors when viewing some Hulu movies.
I guess running Hulu in the browser with the tweaked Hulu Flash 10.3 installed and agent string set to desktop is the best available way (ATM) to avoid the web only errors.

Evening Guys / Gals
Right I've been scratching my head on this one for days now and it seems that no one for some bizarre reason ever came across this issue before. OK I'm a bit of a Noob when it comes to Android but I manage to get my head around things pretty fast.
Anyhow My issue. I have an Archos (Arnova 10b - 8GB) tablet Yeah its a cheap one but thought it would be better than buying a kindle... What I'm trying to do is to stream Videos over my network using PLEX ver 2.0.0.6 and the latest Plex Media server
My PC is a Windows 7 x64-bit system and My Archos is still running the Official 2.1 Eclair Firmware. I did mod it at one point with the kasty-arn10b-22-01 FW but the Archos did not behave very well on it so I had to revert back to stock FW.
(I could not find a stable Version of Froyo for it yet so if you do have any suggestions, and I mean any suggestions at all (without Bricking it) --- PLEASE let me know)
So the Plex Media server is running on my PC and I can see and browse my Videos with ease from the Archos tablet using the Plex 2.0.0.6 App. However when I try to run any .avi or mvk files on the Archos it seems to load and buffer the video fine but eventually fails on me with the following error:
Unexpected error while trying to play media item at: <MYIP>:32400/Video/:Transcode/Segment/Start -> and which seems to be allot of information about the type of file and coding it tried to use.
Now I do believe that this is a codec issues and was able to pull the logcat from my Archos - The Full Text file is attached for those that are interested.
What interested me was the following:
D/c*.p*.a*.v*.PlexVideoV*( 1673): Transitioning from INITIALIZED to ERROR.
E/VideoPlayerActivity( 1673): Error when trying to display media : There was a problem accessing or playing the media. It may be that this is not a supported format on this device.
I/c*.p*.a*.v*.PlexVideoV*( 1673): Stopping video transcode session.
I know it works on Froyo I've tested it on my Previously modded Archos and a Samsung Galaxy Mini. But is not able to get this to work on Eclair
Other then modding it back to an unstable version of Froyo... Do you guys have any ideas how I might be able to resolve this debacle??
Resolved
Resolved - I installed Orb Live on my Android 2.1 and Orb Caster on my PC. Problem Resolved.
Having a roku is great but the limited hulu+ is a killer. would it be possible to create a sideloaded hulu app that could play all web content to install on your roku box?
i know there was a hacked flash for my android phone to access full hulu from the browser which was awsome.
I am no programmer but was just wondering the possibilities.
I received a GoTab GTB1040r for christmas but I am having some problems with it.
Firstly when using the iPlayer app I can hear audio but get no video, I have the secondary bbc media app installed so that's not the problem.
The other problem I'm having, and I suspect the two are linked, is that I cannot view or play videos embedded in web pages using the standard android browser. An example of this is on kotaku, where a video should be is represented by a black rectangle. If I use chrome I can play videos from kotaku but not other sites, zero punctuation for example, I would prefer to use the standard browser anyway if that's possible.
I have already tried installing an apk for flash player on ics that originated on this site but that didn't help. I have also noticed that sites seem to assume I'm using an ipad rather than android tablet if that's any help.
Just as I suspected the standard browser is representing its self as an ipad version which may be causing problens, I got this off mybrowserinfo.com;
Your Browser User Agent String is Mozilla/5.0 (iPad; U; CPU OS 5_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A334 Safari/7534.48.3
How would I go about changing this?
Ok so I've solved the embedded videos problem by going to browser settings and changing UAstring from html5 to Android. Still having problems with iPlayer though.
Hi guys,
Maybe it's weird but do you think i can use an Android Stick in replacement for the Mac Mini?
Currently, the Mac mini is connected directly to Sony Bravia HDTV via HDMI and acting as HTPC.
And the only thing that we are doing mostly on the current connection is streaming videos from net Browsers (Chrome or Firefox).
We seldom use the XBMC or Plex apps on the mac mini since the TV Shows and Movies that we would like to watch are cannot
be found.
I've read a lot of items regarding Android Stick and based from them I've learned that most of the things that I can do on an android
phone can also be done to the Android Stick. (especially installing apps, playing games, etc.)
But I don't remember anyone mentioning about the Browser apps on the Android Stick.
Are they performing good? Can they play all videos including Flash videos?
Can I browse the internet without any problem just like in an Android phone?
Or should I consider other devices instead of Android Stick?
I recently checked the adobe flash page and it now shows on the Linux section, the PPAPI version of flash player.
In this situation,I think it should be VERY possible to make PPAPI Flash Player available to Android since it can utilize the dual/quad cores to increase the performance and make the sandboxed environment run smoother, and thus achieve better performance than the extremely outdated Android flash player.
(Adobe AIR sucks because of no browser integration and no Actionscript 2 support)
This would also make flash player content accessible in Chrome for Android and other Chromium based browsers.
Otherwise, maybe someone can talk Chromium devs into getting PPAPI flash player working on Android in a custom build such as the CAF build designed to be optimized for Qualcomm Snapdragon devices.
They done it with Linux after all this time, why not release PPAPI flash player for Android as well?
Chromium can be built with plugin access on Android?
BUMP
Has anyone made a custom Chromium build apk with the plugins enabled flag?
Its been possible since 2013 apparently. :silly:
It would be the solution for ShieldTV being ruined yet again by trashing Flash Player access by causing apps to crash upon attempting to load any Flash/swf content.
Better, yet a stand-alone flash player that somehow uses the ppapi plugin to allow playing offline content with ease.
I was given a couple of links by someone form here before...
https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/forum/#!topic/chromium-dev/uQ3m8M-Yzvw
https://www.chromium.org/developers/gyp-environment-variables
Also some details were mentioned too.
I just learn that if you compile chromium yourself for android with enable_plugins=1
you will get PPAPI plugins enabled.
Click to collapse
enable_plugins=1
I'm not tech savvy with building and compiling stuff so I hope someone can help by making a custom Chromium build available for easier Flash Player access with a safer touch via its sandboxing function.
flash ARM for all browsers
based on Raspberry forums, I tested it on my own one and works like a charm
