Market problems: "device not compatible"??? - HTC Inspire 4G

Can anyone tell me why the android market now tells me my "device is not compatible with this item" on 2 out of 3 apps on the market?? Thank u!
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda premium

I see what you did there.
However, the "marketplace" is probably not the best place for market related questions.

First off your in the wrong section. You need to go to the Q&A section for your phone. Include the following: Software version, rooted or not, kernal, etc. Makes it a little bit easier.

Oh, sorry. I originally posted the question in the general Q&A but figured I was gonna get ripped cuz I didn't put it in the "market" section.

The 'market' section is for members selling their phones and stuff. Not for the android market.
*insert sig here*

There are a couple of reasons you could be seeing this.
1. Your ROM's LCD density is not set to 240 (the "ro.sf.lcd_density" line in build.prop)
2. Your ROM is branding your phone as an Inspire 4G instead of a Desire HD. Yes you read that right. Some apps, although they will work just fine on an Inspire, have their compatibility flag set to Desire HD and not Inspire 4G. The stock Inspire ROM brands the phone as a "Desire HD" for this reason I believe.

I just left the Nexus One & upgraded to the myTouch 4G & it's an awesome phone. Absolutely no complaints by me. Depending on where you live & what service/phones available you can't go wrong with this phone.

Out right now I would say the top five look like this:
1. Nexus S
2. G2
3. MT4G
4. Epic 4G
5. Desire
If you want updates in any sort of timely matter don't get a Samsung device unless it's the Nexus S, the rest of the phones rarely ever get updated.

The Nexus S
I used the xphone the Best of All.
Made In Germany
All others are crap
I know it's not Android-native, but I think the HD2 deserves mention here
Get a big sd card, and you can have many ROMs to choose from at any time, and its very fast and stable. Not to mention that I have an Android build on my sd card with over 200 apps, and it's still faster than most native Android devices. Not to mention that it also boots Ubuntu, and Windows Mobile 6.5 or WP7 and soon Meego
If you want a very capable, customizable Android phone, check it out!!

EPIC
HD 2 or EVO. Major community support, great hardware.
Anything by Samsung does not get updates.
This thread is going exactly as expected. Let's try it this way...Instead of me saying "GET THE PHONE I USE" I'd that if you don't need a new phone immediately, and can wait a few months, check out the next gen lineup when they come out. there will be loads of comparisons between them and the current gen phones. I say you make your choice based on that.
You don't know what carrier you want to use?
What kind of features do you want?
There is no clear cut "best Android phone". The best vanilla updated phone + best GPU + best screen goes to Nexus S. But no microSD slot and can be hit or miss with GPS issues.
The fastest Android with the best processor, front facing camera goes to MyTouch 4G. But standard OS is "bloated" and the phone can have issues with permanent root sticking.
The best Android with a qwerty keyboard is either the G2 or the Droid 2 Global. But the G2 has a slower processor and less ram than the MyTouch 4G and when upside down the keyboard hangs loose. And the Droid 2 Global has eFuse with a locked Bootloader so you can't fully customize it.
The best Android that has all around "decent" hardware but no clear cut "best" anything is probably the Desire. But the processor/GPU and hardware isn't really the strongest.
You really need to tell people what you want to do with the phone and how you'll be using it.

Uh...Where's the Evo? The Epic can't compare in terms of build quality alone.

why not many ROMS for the Inspire?

why are there hardly and ROMS made for the inspire? it is a great phone, but does not seem to get my attention by devs?
Now that you're in the right section there are lots of inspire roms. The Inspire is a Desire HD at heart, creating specific roms for the inspire is double work for devs as the desire HD roms work just fine, especially since the source was released. You have lots of options in the inspire and desire HD development sections.

You sure can. I'm not sure about the miui but everything else is good to go, kernels too. Most roms even include the sound fix these days so no worries there either.

It's a "new" platform just released. Even though it's similar to the Desire. Going to take a bit. I had my captivate for 6 months and they're just now getting into some nice looking ROMs..expect the same out of Inspire , though I'm seeing faster footwork here.

Will Inspire 4g Get Sense 3.0/Gingerbread?

Will the Inspire 4g get updated to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and will the update include the New Sense 3.0????
Use search my friend. Answered twice today. Gingerbread, yes. Sense 3, no one knows.

Upgrade

I want opinions on the HTC inspire I want to know if it's a good phone to upgrade
to

4 months now it's a great phone, I have no regrets
thou I think that the inspire is a good phone, I think with all the new dual core phones that are being released I would not waste an upgrade on this particular phone. I do like this HTC Inspire but still is old tech.
Really? Another opinion thread on the Inspire? How many do we need this week? This is not the section to ask questions also. Can we please clean this forum up starting with threads like this first?

Wow really it is too bad that it bothers you so much this is the General section I do believe and since it is "General Discussion about the AT&T HTC Inspire 4G (general chat, tips & tricks, etc)
Guess this is the right place for it.
Yes the threads will be getting cleaned up. This weekend most likely if I can find the time. As for opinion threads if there is more then one thread on the same subject they will be combined. We have a off topic thread for things like this.
Happy to have you back up there zelendel despite pushing your buttons before.

Compared the the Craptivate this phone is one hell of an upgrade. However as stated before, wait for the HTC Holiday/Inspire HD.

I want the Atrix just because I'm always wanting something other than what I have. The inspire is the best phone I've ever owned though.

The name thing is a known issue, search and you'll find more information.
As for signature, do you mean the model number/name? If so, what ROM are you running. Some ROMs brand the Inspire as a Desire (since they are basically the same phone).
Runnin stock rom not rooted or anything. The midel numer in the phone under identity is inspire 4g is all it says

Ah! My apologies for being ignorant! I forget sometimes not everyone is rooted! The same still applies for the contacts though. I know some people have brought up the issue. You can try a 3rd party messaging app, that should take care of it. ( I use GO SMS).
As for the Desire HD signature, are you talking about the one that comes up when you post on XDA? Because if so, you can just change that. Take a peak at your about phone settings and see if it says Inspire or Desire.
In about phone it says inspire 4g

Well then your phone is branded correctly. If you're wondering why it says desire in your signature, I have no idea. But you can change that to whatever you want through the settings tab in the XDA app itself.
Cool thanks
