We need to find the location for the Boot Splash once we can change that we will have a much less visually offensive device I'm sure the method to change it from the Vision and MT4G will work but the location my be different
it's in system/customize/resource and is called TMUS_bootanimation.zip - you can replace it with any boot animation just make sure it's renamed to the same as the existing file or it won't work.
and of course you can fastboot flash the splash image (not the boot animation) with a replacement
First thing i did after getting s-off
I will remove the stock boot animation in next update.

Ok I will be releasing v0.3 Doubleshot. There shouldn't be any mytouch anything in this release. Stock HTC setup, Modded rosie.apk, no app boxes, no gay pink apps. If u find another mytouch item let me know so I can kill it
Sent from my HTC Doubleshot using xda premium
is wifi calling still in this?
Only asking cause i have free unlimited wifi calling from Tmo
Well of course it is. That's not a mytouch excusive feature.

just making sure
It didnt work completely 100% on CM7 for me (the audio was SO LOW)
any one know what location the Power Down Splash is in.... Splash2 prehaps or do we know a location I can DD and img into???
Are you talking bout the boot down animation? If so its in system........customize..........resource........htcdownanimation.zip.

We are now completely completely demytouched. v0.5 is out completely new and rebuilt from ground up.

I tried replacing the boot animation with my own, but it won't work. Instead of mine or the stock animation, I get the classic G1 shimmering ANDROID animation now.
What did u use to change the boot animation?

On a serious note (lets put our disputes aside and work together)... Any idea where the splash screen is? System > customize > resource contains the boot animation, the HTC boot down animation and another htc boot animation, but not the "MyTouch 4G Slide" splash screen we see when it first boots up or goes into recovery.
Not saying this in any negative fashion or any way other than a simple statement, so please dont overreact when i say this, but your de-mytouched ROM still has said mytouch splash screen.
Someone mentioned fastbooting a replacement to the splash screen, got a link/more info on the process?
The boot flash image is not part of the rom it has to be changed via fast boot or using a dd command

I used Root Explorer to replace the file named tmus_bootanimation.zip with the boot animation I wanted (android pissing on apple, then beating it, if that helps). I used the WVGA version of it. Named it the same as the stock one and moved stock animation to sdcard. Also tried flashing it from CWM, but no luck. Didn't use ADB, since it seemed like a simple copy/move task. If I use fastboot, would I have to rename the file to anything in particular?

Cool. This is what im interested in. Is the process of fasbooting a replacement for the splash screen the same for every device? Or are there location variables? If it's fastboot, i imagine it might be as simple as replacing the recovery image via fastboot ("fastboot flash recovery [path]" "fastboot flash splash"?). If the process is the same regardless of android device and my suspision is correct, i guess ill go searching for the instructions (less you have a link handy for me).
If its not the same and is device specific... Didnt you say you successfully replaced the splash screen on yours? Mind providin us the instructions? Thanks =)

Make sure the file name is "TMUS_bootanimation.zip" case sensitivity may indeed make a dif (might as well try everything).

Try fastboot flash splash1 yourimage.img... Make sure its in the proper format there are numerous converter tools floating around. The method is the same for other htc devices

Ok devs or whoever....
I am looking for some info and apparently i couldnt find any.. (this where u make me look like an @ss and send me a link or not)
I was able to flash a splash screen (very first screen u see when booting up) on both my G1 and M3GS but havent on my G2 or G2x.. Whats in entail to do so the the G2X... To change the first screen...(aka trinity when u flash morfics kernel)
I read somewhere that the boot.img needs to be split to do so... ??? ... Any info would be nice...... Subtle hints to the right whereabouts for this info would be nice to....
Use root explorer and go into system> media. In that file you'll see bootanimation.zip. You can change that out with another .zip of your choosing and rename it bootanimation.zip. This was how it was done with the Vibrant and I would think it would be the same with the G2X.
Ok Charlie ill check it out... thought that was just the boot animation though without splash screen. Mmk though

I have not been able to change it either using various guides. Changing bootanimation.zip will not change the splash screen, only the boot animation.

This is worth the $1 or whatever it is in sooooo many ways. Look at the related apps too (boot installer)... dude... you have no idea the simplicity of this and how clean each install was (I have tried probably 20+ of the boots and was able to customize by ripping one of the zip packets off the SD.... it shows the split too in the zip file.
Welcome to all that is glorious: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.canvs2321.absolute.system&feature=search_result

...oohhhh... I missed that clarification. Ok so you want to change the "LG" splash just before the bootani starts... let me look, I gotta get back to you though... I came across that a while back and the instructions that the dev dropped with it didn't work but I tweaked it and got it. I gotta dig..
Yay the lg screen before bootanimation....
From what I read its un boot.img and that needs to be unpacked which would meen that every new rom flashed would have to b edited I assume

Yeah I can see it when I dig with root explorer and then throw the .rle in my drop box. I looked for that installer and was hitting blanks but I will find it today and also tweak that graphics archive. GIve me a few to diddle.
I also have a ViewSonic GTablet, which is also a Tegra 2 device. See this procedure:
http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/162...logos-replace-viewsonic-logo-g-tabletzpad-t2/
Basically you use nvflash to put a bitmap file on a specific partition.
THE ABOVE PROCEDURE WILL NOT WORK ON YOUR G2X, but it's a starting point to figure out how to do it on the G2x.
Hey IB you make any progress?

I recently had to unroot my phone (screen cracked) and I looked all over for the OEM splash screen. Long story short, I was able to find the image and made a flashable file out of it. This is my first contribution to the community and I hope I'm not double-posting. I just want to help save a few people out there that might run into the same situation I recently found myself in.
Steps:
Download the splash1.zip to the root of your SD card.
Boot into recovery (I'm using Amon-RA 2.3).
Flash.
Reboot.
Please hit the thanks if this has helped you out. Thank you.
I just had my screen replaced too. With black xda splash and custom rom and all. But thanks

So I've recently rooted and put TWRP on my AT&T One X with the intention of putting Jelly Bean on it. I've tried to put countless ROMs on it, doing the proper wiping procedures and what not, but as soon as I install the ROM, when I boot and get past the HTC Quietly Brilliant screen, the screen goes black and all I see is a repeating white bar across the top of the screen that appears and disappears as if the phone is attempting to get through the boot but won't. It's really frustrating. This is my first experience with rooting an HTC phone, even though I have a lot of experience with other phones I've owned. I follow the directions for each ROM I've tried, and nothing seems to work. Anyone care to assist me?

I'm not sure what you mean by what hboot do I have... Sorry I haven't rooted a ton of HTC phones. Also, I didn't know you needed to flash a boot.img... Isn't that included in the rom I'm flashing? Thanks!

Before you install the Rom plug your phone into the pc. Put your phone in fastboot. Open the zip for the Rom on the pc and extract boot.img put it in your fastboot folder open command prompt and type fastboot flash boot boot.img

Thanks so much! Another question real quick. It doesn't seem as though my PC is recognizing my One X anymore...especially when I'm attempting to do something like flashing images. It will notice it in terms of mounting the disk drive for file transfers and HTC sync, but not for anything else. I'm thinking that its an issue with Windows 8 and the HTC drivers.

Install HTC sync and you'll be good to go. Make sure that you uninstall whatever drivers you had before.

Hello,
So hopefully I haven't screwed up royally here, but here's the problem:
Rooted phone, running CM7.2 Nightly (I forget the version)
Went to update radio from this wiki (wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Speedy_Info) page - checksum matched.
Renamed file to PG06IMG.zip
Booted into HBOOT, ran update, rebooted.
HBOOT Info:
-----------------
SPEEDY XE ENG S-OFF
HBOOT - 0.93.2001 (PG0610000)
RADIO - 1.08.00.0506 (Seems the radio did update)
eMMC-boot
-------------------
Tried to reboot but now stuck on the HTC Logo screen.
What do I do now? And can you explain in layman's terms please? Still not privy to the technical stuff.
Latest radio for the Shift is 1.08.01.0111, do a search for it here, flash it in the same manner and see if it boots.

I'll try it when I get off of work.
In the event the new radio update doesn't work and I run into the same problem, is there anything else I can do?
Also if you have trouble downloading it from the first post someone mirrored the file in post #34 of the same thread.

You can flash the full froyo PG06IMG (its the easiest to root) to take you back to stock
The file is in my dev-host if you go to speedy-root then desktop version...its the bigger of the two PG06IMG.zip files

Well the only screen I can get to is the HBOOT screen, which automatically tries to update from the PG016IMG.zip file on my sd card. Even I choose not to update, my only option is reboot. I assume the only other way around this is to delete that file of my sd card from my computer...unless there's another way I'm missing.
I'll attempt that as well once I'm at my home computer.

So good news I got my phone to boot again. I was able to update the radios with the latest ones, however it was continuing to get stuck at the HTC boot screen. I deleted the .zip file, was able to boot into recovery, cleared cache and dalvik cache, and after a minute or two was able to boot up.
Thanks again for the help!
And now I just need to figure out this battery drain issue. Went from 100% to less than 10% in less than 2 hours
Let me know how that radio works out and if there is any changes in the touch panel

I'm already rooted with unlocked bootloader but I'm s on. Is there a just s off tutorial because I hate having to fastboot flash a new Rom from my computer each time I want to install a new one. I'd also like to get 4ext working instead of cwm.

http://tau.shadowchild.nl/attn1/?cat=6. For 4ext just install it from the updater apk from its website.
Unfortunately I'm not that advanced to do that method of s off and iv tried installing the 4ext from within the app and it says installed but when I boot in recovery it's still cwm. As for the s off I feel safer just fast booting from my computer till I grasp a better concept with the advanced way. Witch is a bummer.

If you familiarize yourself with adb and fastboot this process isn't really that hard. It just seems complex to the un-trained eye. You already did the dev unlock process and there are other tutorials about making a gold card that go into more depth. As always though don't do anything unless your sure of success or are willing to brick a device trying.
