I'm looking to trade my Galaxy 4G S to a friend and its been rooted and I currently have this ROM installed :
(ROM-Leak)][ODIN] Gingerbread 2.3.4 T959VUVKG4
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1183413
So if I want to give it to her with the stock stuff on it, do I just go into the stock Recovery and wipe everything??
I basically want to give it to her stock as if she just opened it up from the box...
I'm getting the G2x in return.
you have to Odin back to KC1.
Its by whitehaxw
But these ROMS that are stock are still rooted arent they??
I want it to be completely stock.. bloatware, NOT rooted and all.
So your suggest will do that?
Unroot it with superoneclick

flash kc1 and have it replace bootloaders
then flash kd1 that has root..
use super 1 click and then de root the device..
wala stock
Be sure you flash RaverX3X's KC1 though. If you want to give her the phone 100% stock, you need the Froyo bootloaders.

Guys flashing roms is a big responsibility. Read the guides. The latest version is Kh2. This is a 2.3.4 Rom. If you want old 2.2, which is easier to flash, then you should use kd1.

Hi I flashed "[ROM-Leak][ODIN] Gingerbread 2.3.4 T959VUVKG4" rom to my phone and when I went to the local t-mobile store they told me that my headphone jack isnt working and needs to be sent in for warranty replacement.... what do I need to do to set this up to stock and the current rom so tmobile doesnt void my warranty.... or to flash using ODIN?
follow the noobs guide to odin in the bible
I know how to use ODIN..... the question is do I need to do anything to the phone to downgrade it to 2.2.1 Stock.... or just flash it and done?
Just flash a 2.2.1 stock rom on your phone, and you are done. if it already has root, you can un-root with superoneclick

o ok ya I got that one without root do I have disable lagfix and so on?
Also since I partitioned my SD card can I leave it alone and when i get my new phone just flash it and itll work ok?
when i got the phone i upgraded to 2.3 and now my phone is messing up and i dont feel like sending ym phone to tmobile so is the anyway to re-do this update, or downgrade back to froyo (2.2) ??
You want stock froyo? You'd need to install clockworkmod recovery and restore the stock 2.2 nandroid backup from the development section. If you want, after that you can either keep clockworkmod recovery or flash back to stock recovery.
If you installed CWM recovery you can apply a backed up image of the OTA update then use NVFlash to restore the stock recovery. T-Mobile is shipping the phones as GB now and it is now considered stock. Don't worry about going back to Froyo.
Yea but the only reason y I want to go back to 2.2 is because I can't root on 2.3 for some reason

Enjoy!
i know i can but my computer wont let me, but dont worry i just restored my whole computer and make a fresh start
My brother just bought a used galaxy s 4g from craigslist and it appears to be rooted because of the super user app. He wants to flash a rom to get rid of CIQ but when he tries to reboot into recovery it doesnt appear to boot into clockwork mod.
Two questions
1. Can we just delete the CIQ file using root explorer and be done with it?
2. He is still running 2.2.1 froyo. vuvkd1 and if the phone is rooted can i just completely reroot via odin all over from start to finish or must I unroot his phone back to stock first.
I suggest you use odin to flash ravers kj6 rom from dev section. Then with odin too flash kj1 kernel from dr honk then search for ravers kj6 no ciq edition and flash that via cwm.

It may not have had ClockWorkMod (CWM) installed on it. I assume it's probably booting into standard, 3E recovery. I *think* you can just delete the CIQ executable in /system/xbin but I don't know what ramifications that might have.
There are a few "No CIQ" ROMs in the Development section but I *think* they're all Gingerbread based.
There's really no sense in re-rooting if it's already rooted. If you do ODIN a new ROM onto it that does not have root, you can use SuperOneClick to root it or use a kernel that has root access.

Flash the SMS KJ6 file from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358498
That'll get you on Gingerbread, then you can install Valhalla Black Edition
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_4G_ROMs#Valhalla_Black_Edition
Valhalla Black doesn't contain CIQ files.
Thanks everyone ill pass this on to him.
Removing the CIQ is a very detailed process... You need to be familiar with baksmali/smali and decompile/recompile apk's... Otherwise you will never truly remove it...

Anyone know how to Root the new Gingerbread 2.3.6 stock leak that was posted? I am talking about UCLB3. I went to "Settings"- "Privacy" - "Factory data reset and was prepared to start over at Froyo. When the phone finished booting up my factory setting is now 2.3.6 UCLB3. I am not a noob but not real experienced either. I spent hours last night trying to root the phone. I want to put the rooted version from Dman on - I couldn't even use ODIN and Heimdall or GTG's unbrick versions to take me backwards. I am on 2.3.6 no matter what I do. Anyone care to help?
is ODIN not recognizing the phone or whats the situation ? Heimdall is for flashing stock 2.3.6 or cwm for froyo.
There is no way to root the new leak... you can flash a rooted kernel, then flash the stock kernel back and you'll retain root

Thanks for your comment. I saw something about that in the UCKK3 stock rom post, I think. That`s an effective way to root the 2.3.6 leak/stock?
Is that the way to do it? odin>flash pda only with auto-reboot and f.reset time>flash again the stock kernel (pda only). Is this right?
Any way to install CWM kernel in between? I'll be very pleased with a right answer, thanks!!!
Rooting stock 2.3.6
Thanks to you guys who helped with my issue. I got the phone to recognize download mode and flashed a CWM Kernel and then the stock one and kept root. (Thanks DMan) Since I was busy I didn't get this done until Friday and then the Collective comes out with Revelation which after reading the posts I immediately flashed. Prior to Revelation my favorite ROM had been Caty 3.0 but I think Dman and the Collective have put out my new favorite now.
Im trying to downgrade my Galaxy S 4G Back to GB but when i flash GB Rom threw CWM and i boot my phone back up i got 4.0.4 rom still but wiped clean...
You have to one-click back to GB.

Like said above gotta use the one click. The partitioning is different ics roms are mtd and I believe most if not all gb roms are bml and the stock one-click will correct the partitioning on your phones memory before it installs stock firmware and then you can root and install the gb rom of your choice

I was able to return to 2.3.6 Gingerbread from 4.04 ICS by using one click.
