I recently rooted my inspire, first android device, and installed CM7 because it seemed amazing, not saying it isn't. I like CM7, but i like pure Gingerbreads gingerygoodness even better. I am currently running CM7-Phunky Cow "flavored"
and i like it because of the actual launcher and runs higher quadrant scores.
I like pure gingerbread, but i think i may miss the cm7 settings, some i use, also i miss HTC widgets and camera, etc, but i cant stand sense anymore.
Anyone have recomendations on ROMS, or CM7 Flavours/Mods?
Use Ultimate Droid

I have tried that and it seems alot heavier then CM7, and that's not really what im aiming for, plus the theme is wierd on it, im not sure how i'd go with changing that.
What's the reason you use it?
Its very smooth and fast and my speed increased and its just perfect for me

Right now Cm7 is starting to make me not like my phone for some reason so let's put it this way, is there a Stable, User-Friendly, non sense rom out there thats gingerbread?
The nature of all custom roms are beta's nothing more, every rom including the stock non rooted rom is subject to hiccups.

+1. Gingerbread, works great, smooth, slick, and not an lick of Sense. If you are looking to try something different, you owe it to yourself to give it a go. C'mon over to the Dark Side, the water is great!

Pure GB. Fully customizable. Great Quadrant scores (for what they're worth). No problems whatsoever...
And I jumped to the "Dark Side" straight from the latest CM7 build...and haven't looked back....

If you're looking for a Gingerbread build with Sense, try RCMix 5.9.x, available for download directly via CWM.

It's using a home launcher.
If you want a pure GB home launcher, or have it look like CM7, just download ADW Launcher or Launcher Pro.
I'm currenrly running ADWEx on mine...

I'm borrowing my buddys inspire for two days to see how I like it. I own an Atrix. Right away I can see that the screen and build quality of this phone is much better than my Atrix. I also really like sense.
I asked my friend to put gingerbread and 3.0 sense on this phone so I can try it out. While the features are great the phone just doesnt feel as fast as my Atrix I need to find out exactly what Rom is on this phone so I can tell you guys, but my question is, is there anyway to put REAL sense 3.0 on this phone as well as gingerbread? Or are these things just themes?
I would try to find this info myself but you guys have like 30 roms listed in the dev forum. Also can you tell me if its possible to make the inspire very snappy while having sense 3.0 and gingerbread? So far I'm very much liking the phone and am considering making the switch.
If I'm understanding correctly, sense will backup all my settings and apps so that if I switch phones I won't have to do anything to get it back to the way I had it. Is this accurate?

Shoot another thing sorry. Everything on this phone appears zoomed in and the fonts are big. Does this have something to do with the resolution of the phone. I expected the opposite since the screen is a tad bigger.

Motoblur is the worst UI you can have. The sense 3.0 rom is a tad clunky but it looks nice I suppose. Try out cm7 or miui and you'll think this phones hardware runs circles around your atrix.

CM7 is basically vinilla android with some improvements so no sense, miui is the best rom ever period, rcmix kingdom is sense 3.0 but is still not a solid rom. i had an atrix, hjad hardware problems with it and got it traded, then i started looking at the inspire fourms and i became more and more unhappy with my atrix and switched it for an inspire and it was the best desision ever but if you want to back up all your apps and restore them it wont work when switching roms 100% of the time so i would recommend BUYING titanium backup because if yourestore apps with the free version it takes forever due to the fact that you have to hit yes for every app, wait for it to install, then hit done, for every app

I disagree. Miui is horrible. Blah.... It lasted 12 hours on my phone. And that only cause I went to sleep.
I am using Gingerbeast. Its awesome. Fast...I Have been OC'd on it @ 1450mhz for like 2 weeks straight. No Issues. No Sense tho. But sense, its garbage man. Sense is bloatware..... .. Install a launcher, install GO SMS and GO contacts.. Its all you needs. If you want sense for the social stuff, just down load the social apps. But with this phone why? I just use the browser and log into them normally...
Leedroid is the only other Rom I would recommend for Sense. I used it for weeks. Fast, OC-able and All the Sense you could want.
I also +1 Titanium Back up. Its awesome.

It's strange to see one person love miui and another hate it haha
I basically like sense for its ability to keep everything backed up for me. Not for the widgets.
I think I'm going to make the switch from the Atrix based on the build quality alone. Do like the option for sense though.
Is there any other ATT phone that can be reccomended over the inspire at the moment? Or is the inspire at the top of the food chain for build quality, power, and modability?

As I am not experienced much yet with an unlocked bootloader, ill take your word for it. I already purchaser TB for my Atrix do that's not an issue. I just never fully understood how to use it so I kinda just sits in my app drawer.
If you could please just briefly highlight the diffrences in cm7 and miui I would really appreciate it. Also do you think flashing to cm7 will remove this "zoomed in, big font issue" I was referring to earlier? Or is it maybe that MOTO blur is zoomed out? Everything looks smaller on the Atrix.
It's strange to see such dislike for Sense. I've seen on many occasions in other phones forums, people asking how to put sense on their non HTC devices. I was under the impression it was the best.

Out of all the UI's Sense is the best. I've used miui once but it looks too similar to the iphone so I don't really know what the appeal is there. However there is a large number of people who like the stock look with CM7 because of how you can customize literally everything, after a while that gets repetitive and boring. Personally I prefer Sense because of the hardware acceleration in the UI and the eye candy. Out of all the UI's it's the only one that doesn't look like it was designed by a 10 year old kid.
Go flash Leedroid with all the patches and you'll see what I mean.

internally MIUI and CM7 are very similar the biggest difference is the way they actually feel when using them, its mainly the ui, with CM7 you can customize EVERTHING but with MIUI most of its their you just have to see if you like it but if you do flash miui id recommend Rey's coustom rom MIUI in the desire hd fourms. but with titanium backup what it does is makes very precise backups of all your apps and saves it to your sd card and when you move roms you just download titanium backup and restore, most of this is done thorough batch which you go to backup/restore, hit menu, and select backup all user apps with data, but NEVER select system data when moving roms because it can cause some serious problems
My opinion:
Love sense. My favorite UI, and I like all roms on this forum. Tried every single one. My absolute favorite aosp rom is gingerbeast. Favorite sense rom is stock rooted and gtg's inspired ace. Then comes miui. As for the atrix, forget it. I had the atrix and it kept overheating, so I got the inspire and it was the best decision ever! Best part-no motoblur
As far as the people who don't like sense, go spend a year on touchwiz or motoblur

Well then you might as well flash an aosp rom. Sense wont keep all you stuff backed up throughout roms(I don't remember it restoring any of my stuff)
aosp roms will keep EVERY app backed up and will restore them when you reflash or update the rom. If you uninstall an app, it wont restore it.
Works perfect.

What's the snappiest gingerbread Rom that has sense bundled?
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
I've become a big fan of CoreDroid, Sergio promised us a new version tonight or tomorrow.
Inspired Ace was good, but I wanted the Sense 3 bits
So I was just wondering why would we flash roms? I mean the current stock os is almost bug free + when flashing roms we are faced with some major bugs sometimes.
I know that we would have the choice to remove bloatware, cutomise status bar, and sometime oc. That's all nice but still I don't see why not leave it as is?
Please excuse my ignorance. I just came from a rooted Dinc w/ miui
And I wanna have a better understanding.

For me it's the freedom to do with my phone what I want. These developers kick out some sweet features that we'll never see from a stock ROM, and they get us the latest software before the manufacturers. I bug here or there is well worth it for me, and if it's to bad you can always revert. If you prefer the stock experience, than by all means leave it alone. But me, I'm a tinkerer. Be it a car, truck, bike... or yes, even a phone, I can't leave well enough alone.
Because we can
To pick up chicks......I haven't met one yet that's not turned on by 48+ mflops!
Can't do that with stock.....
This might seem like an odd answer... I flash so I can have a standard interface on my phones. I've had a droid, droid x, and thunderbolt in the last year and a half (my company does some android development on in house apps for one of our clients, and we go through a lot of test phones). having something close to a stock interface minimizes the daily annoyances of moving between those phones.... which is why I use the aosp roms.

I'm not sure if this is possible but its worth a try to ask. I really like the phone app built into the CM9/10 ROM. Im using rebellMOD and love it but i was wondering if there was a way to extract the phone app either to replace or work beside the sense one (replace would be nice, but anything would be sweet) Viper rom would be the one I'd like to use. Also would it be possible to get the standard Mail app (the yellow one) from CM9/10 to work on a sense rom? I like it over the one built in?

I think Scott tried to bring the AOSP dialer into Clean Rom dev a long while back and had no luck getting it to work. You could try theming it though.

[ROM] 7/17 â–¶Team Nocturnalâ—€ RebelROM Senseless 1.1 AOSP Style (Lite,Clean and Stable)

You can also get a GPS lock by flashing sense and get a lock then flash some aosp

Vanir, Liquid, CM, I personally find them all to have basically the same issues/flaws/success'
so whatever is going on in one ROM is usually going on in the others.
GPS works find on all like mentioned as long as you get a Sense GPS lock first then you are set.
In connection with the HTC One (non-M8) I remember reading that after flashing an AOSP-based ROM, GPS was still finicky after returning to a Sense ROM. The above suggests this is not the case.
Also, what do you mean getting a Sense GPS lock then flashing? Does this mean that if you've used navigation at least one time prior to flashing an AOSP-based ROM, you're fine? I can't imagine that's the case or else there would be far fewer problems than I see noted. Everyone uses their GPS at least once before flashing, except for the hardcore who unbox the phone and then immediately flash!

GPS can be a bit flaky on HTC phones that have flashed AOSP for years now. Your best bet is get a full GPS lock in Maps, reboot into Recovery and then flash your AOSP Rom. I have also had good luck with various GPS apps that let you flush the AGPS data. Now GPS seems to always work better on Sense Roms

Good idea unless you want to use your camera. Solid ROM but it basically locks up my phone for 3-5 minutes when I even try to take a picture. Have tried 3rd party camera apps as well. No issues with GPS/WiFi and while data shows "roaming" it really is not roaming. The newest update based on 4.4.3 is sweet but I need a functioning camera.

This sounds like some weird voodoo to me, yet totally believable since I've seen enough things work when they shouldn't that I recognise the weird solutions are usually the stuff worth trying.
That said, how does it work? Wouldn't any values saved when you grabbed a GPS fix in Sense be lost when you wipe System etc?
Confused...

Edit: Think I understand now the logic - you do your ROM, then Nandroid back to Sense, lock the GPS, then Nandroid back to AOSP. That said, I still don't get how this magic works.

Now I have to eat my words. Since the Camera fix the 4.4.3 GPE has been rock solid for me. No Wifi issues, no issues with speaker phone, really smooth. Still a cosmetic issue of the phone showing in Roaming even though it's not. There is a modified systemUI.apk that shows "LTE" as well.
GPE for VZ is really getting there. Xposed working well and Gravity box has everything working that I use.
How different is GPE from just overlaying Nova or Apex over Sense?

To me a lot different. It's as close to a "pure Google" experience as you can get. While Sense 6 is better, it still an add-on on the base Kit Kat OS that brings overhead with it and a lot of forced applications you may not want/need.
With Xposed and a few modules, you can customize the way you want but still keep the overhead of the operating system at a minimum. It's not for everyone. If you want all customization's built into a single ROM, GPE is not for you.
And I never used the built in Blinkfeed launcher. From day 1 I used Apex. It has been my launcher for well over 3 years. Sense is a lot more than just the launcher.
