Is there anyway to get the stock browser on my charge with gingerbread cuz i hate aosp they don't have the desktop option and i hate mobile sites.

GB comes with a stock browser, it's just like the one in Froyo, and they're both terrible. I recommend Dolphin Browser Mini.

I believe the guys who built Gummy charge gbe replaced stock with AOSP which is the worst i tried the dolphin but that force closes too that's the only reason i switched back to humble but i prefer gingerbread but im in browser most of the day.

Try xscope (just got this and like it so far) or opera. If you're getting force closes then that's not normal. I'll help you to try and trouble shoot if you want.
Thanks alot i truly appreciate it i miss gingerbread

Hey guys I'm just wondering if Samsung ever released a fix for the stock browser lag.
I was thinking about getting the phone but this is holding me back.

Given that you seem to have an issue with any Samsung phone you have, regardless of how big or small the problem is, you're probably better off just not getting it, because even if the "browser lag" is fixed, you'll just find another thing to complain about.
Next he will be complaining about the lack of an LED and saying BLN is not a valid replacement.

Just got the phone and update. And browser lag still there. I think you guys just got used to it. But coming an HTC phone. There is huge lag on touch. .. Pinch to zoom etc.... Oh well.

You should try the iphone. I hear the pinch to zoom works flawlessly on it.

Sounds like your phone is defective, mine doesn't do that.

No its not the phone. I had it before and returned it for same reason. But after hearing about update i wanted to try it again. If i use the opera mobile browser its perfect with no checkerboard and touch is very responsive. On the stock browser if i scroll it'll respond 2 sec after

No offense, but that is pretty sad if that is the "only" thing causing you to pack up the Charge. What do you like about the stock browser so much that you don't use an alternative anyway? If the problem doesn't exist for the other browsers, why not just use one of them? I can think of a handful of others that are much better than the stock browser anyway.
Seems like you are just trying to bash Samsung for no particular reason.
No im not bashing. I had it once before. And got rid of it for that reason. But i heard the lag was fixed. That why I ASKED IN THIS POST ..... The reason i like the stock browser is it handles alot of webpages better.... Format wise. Its just a taste. Trust i would rather be on a 4g phone.... The thunderbolt was just to big and heavy for me. So i went with the charge. Not bashing... Not meant that way.

Stock browser consumes extreme amounts of CPU.
Do not use
Not gonna bother reading the thread still gonna chime in through, the stock browser sucks but if you're asking about the glitch that was in all the DC reviews where flash froze the browser, then that has been fixed a long time ago.
Also, for browsers I'd suggest replacing stock with Dolphin HD(or Mini, uses less resources) or Opera.
The double tap to zoom doesn't capture the text I want to read like my old droid x did anyone know what could be the problem? sucks it was very useful on my droid x and on the droid charge it barely zooms in at all

Are you talking about the browser? If so, download Dolphin HD from the Market because that browser is MILES ahead of the pile of crap stock browser. It also has the feature you're referring to.
I would recommend the opera mobile browser...by far the best of the half dozen out more browsers I have tried...takes a bit long on launching but the scrolling and menu bar are amazing

i have tried almost all the browser's there is in the market and i def. think dolphin browser is the best!
I haven't tried Opera but a lot of people say it's a nice browser and directly competes with Dolphin for the spot of best mobile browser Try them both.
+1 for Dolphin. Been using it since I had my Droid Eris.

Just wondering what everyone's opinion on browsers is. I'm using chrome right now cause I'm on aokp and wanted to try it but usually stick to the stock browser or maxthon. I've read good things about dolphin and a browser called uc.
So what do you use?
I've used several just to see what they're like but I always end up using the stock browser and uninstalling the others.

Chrome works amazing on my EVO LTE and stock works the best on my Shift
Shifted from Outer Space
Stock Browser has always been my choice.

I was the exact same way with my Shift. I wanted to like Chrome on the Shift but it just didn't seem to perform as well as stock. As for my LTE, I'm with Thronnos.. Chrome is pretty damn good.

On gingerbread I love dolphin. On ics, I stick with stock.
I've tried using chrome on my shift, but as others have said, the performance wasn't exactly stellar

My favorite is miui gb browser, I wish I get it working on other asop roms. There are a few similar with small differences, but those small differences are usually exactly what I like about miui gb browser.

Boat browser works pretty good for me. Pretty fast as well.
Just read about privacy concerns with Dolphin:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...Dolphin's collection of your browsing history
Supposedly fixed in version 7 but bothered me so I switched to Boat Browser which I like better. Customizable side bar, more start page speed dial spots, seems smoother, no random closes, etc. I'm a fan so far.
anyone figured out how to get Google Chrome on our beloved Charge?
I tried Firefox, but that seemed to be very slow...
It won't run unless you have ics or jb.

Dolphin just released a beta of a new engine. It's fast, and supports almost everything the Chrome engine does, but some features are obviously broken.

nevermind - for some reason, Firefox works really well on tweaked 3.0. I like how I can sync it with my PC browser as well...

im an avid user of boat browser but since ive upgraded to cm10 there has been many UI inconsistencies and things that do not work. i tired out dolphin beta and while it's a large download it's the fastest ive used soo far.
So.what's the difference.between this dolphin beta and dolphin hd with the jetpack add on for html5?

i tired the regular dolphin and it was sorta laggy and ate up alot of battery. this one seems super fast, could just be placebo but i urge you to try it out.
I've been using dolphin beta for awhile. Imo, it's one, if not the fastest browser on the market. I don't use any other browsers except the stock one when I need it to play flash. Highly recommended.

I've been a Dolphin user for a long time. I'm curious, what's the deal with Dolphin Jetpack. It's sort of like a plugin, but also a separate app? It sounds like it installs with its own icon that you have to use... or something. I haven't tried it out yet (obviously) as a few comments seemed to say they had problems with it.
Edit: Also, I assume Dolphin Beta is sort of like their version of nightlies?
I've been using dolphin since it's first release and it's still the fastest around.....IMHO. I tried Dolphin Jetpack and it loaded web pages super fast. Only downside is that it ate up too much battery. Since there isn't flash support on DB I've been using Holo Web Browser found here on xda (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1891975). It's just as fast if not slightly faster as Dolphin is and plays flash wonderfully.
