Your absolute fave app - Eee Pad Transformer Themes and Apps

What is your absolute favorite application/game? The one you just cannot live without. I am excepting to see a lot of mainstream apps being called out, so to go along with that question, what is your favorite non mainstream app/game?
My fave mainstream app would have to be Facebook (lots of friends from england)
My fave non mainstream app would have to be SwingGame
I am hoping that we will all be able to find some apps that we have never heard of before through this thread.

Netflix and before that came I would say YouTube app impressed me.

Reddita. I don't think I've ever wasted more time in my life than the period of AR (after reddita).

gReader. Looks, feels and works great

Pulse. Never have I wasted so much time during work cause of this app. Best RSS reader!

I agree. Pulse is really quite amazing. The UI is beautiful

Pulse. Great app.

I would have to agree with Pulse as well. Was recently introduced to this app and absolutely love it.

+ on pulse. Save sooo much time with it.
Multipicture live wallpaper.
1- because I was going out of my mind when honeycomb cropped my pics
2- runs great with adw ex

Feedly :
Love it the away it allows me the add the feeds, read the same feeds on my phone and on the tablet , and also on my desktop (Firefox addon).
Beautiful interface on both android and desktop. Another nice feature is the suggestions of other feeds that I would like. Stopped using pulse once I found Feedly

The browser is my fav. Its the one app I couldn't live without.

I'm greedy, I have two ~ Evernote & Dropbox
Both serve me exceptionally well on all my devices; allowing data to be shared simple and easy.

Evernote: Totally useful - not a timewaster - your information available transparently on every device you own, simply awesome.

It used to be Pulse, until I found News360.
Honestly though, the browser gets 99% of the usage on my tablet. I use the default browser cause I;m a chrome user on PC and having synced bookmarks is a necessity. Opera Mobile would be great if I could add more than 9 speed dial buttons
If I may ask my own question about "Your absolute favorite app"
What is your favorite sports app?
I'm trying to find a good one for tablet. All the amazing sports apps, Score Mobile, Fox etc suck for the tablet... they wont even go into landscape mode!

For those who use Pulse, try out Taptu, its very similar but somehow cleaner and faster in my opinion. (news 360 is awesome though.)
But my favorite app is... either Dropbox or Youtube

I love Pulse.
Can't help but think that if you could hide the window which slides out from the left when you click a story by sliding it back, instead of hitting the back button it would be so much better.
Going to d/l Taptu & check it out as well. Cheers for the suggestion

For all of the folks that like Pulse - Check out News Republic - it's a really nice (and free) news app (I like it better than Pulse)!

Besides the browser and Facebook (Friendcaster for tablets) the app I keep coming back and spending lots of time in is Age of Zombies. The Survival mode is addicting. It's the only game I've found on the Android Market that I keep coming back to play. Everything else I get bored of after 5-10 minutes.
Still can't replace console gaming though.

Have to agree with Pulse. Its just so clean and epic...and epic.

Whats the best Android Twitter App? Round Robin Review.

So if you are anything like me you have tried a couple different Android Twitter apps, but not all of them. Well if you want cut down on sometime...here is an amazing review on a whole bunch of them :
http://www.wjddesigns.com/2010/09/01/android-twitter-apps-round-robin/
What's your favorite?
Mine has to be Touituer ...but its all relative..
Cheers.
I love TweetDeck. The UI is simple but looks good. Not only do I have Twitter but I have FB, Buzz, etc..
I WOULD like TweetDeck IF it properly did Facebook too, at least get it all in one place, even though honestly it tries to make Facebook behave like Twitter.. But it doesn't.
Twidryid or whatever it is is what I typically use, but I don't tweet much myself.
Tweetcaster by far. Great widget and ui.

Twicca is the best IMO as well. Hands down, out the park, no other client comes close. The ONLY thing it doesn't do is view full size profile photos. The biggest plus for me is the ability to post photos using Flickr. I think it's the only client that can do that. Plus, it has a AOSP feel to it so it goes will with CM6.
Twicca
i was just using the stock app, as toutier and tweetcaster never really held me around. but yeah, after giving it a go, i'm throwing out a vote for twicca too. the all black interface looks great on the galaxy s

A Few App Recommendations

Just a few recommendations for people who haven't stalked the market lately. I'd highly recommend checking these out.
1. Amazon Appstore - Google it, it's not available on the Google market but from the amazon website instead. Gives away a paid app for free every day and it is very seriously awesome. I now have WidgetLocker, SwiftKey keyboard, Angry Birds Rio Adfree, Soundhound Unlimited, and more. All for free.
Amazon Mp3 - Now includes a music player and widget, and both are seriously cool. Go to the Amazon site and sign up for the Amazon Cloud for free and you'll get 4 gigs of free storage that you can store music in and play from the Amazon Mp3 music player.
Go SMS Pro - The new version of the go sms app. Blazing fast, great popup, widget, sms backup features, beautiful themes. It's the complete package really, and runs perfect on the Hero.
Launcher Pro Plus - There is a new unlock key for the full version for those who don't use Paypal. The latest version has a few new transition effects that run very well on the latest Gingerbread roms. Launcher Pro Plus is the all around best Launcher on the market as far as I'm concerned. Very stable, very fast, very smooth, and very customiseable. And has a great backup feature for flash addicts
Edit: A few more to add to the list
JAMT CM7 Themes - Search for the black and white versions on the Google Market. Free and paid are both very good, the best I've seen so far I think. I bought the pro white version simply to support the dev, the free version is basically the same minus battery percentage in the status bar
Quickpic - It's been mentioned in a lot of threads but it still needs some more attention I think. A brilliantly fast and smooth alternative to the stock gallery
Sleek Camera - For CM7 users this app is a must have to improve camera quality. The only other app I've found that comes close is the flashable zip Miui Camera(not the apk version) which will not work with 3.0.2.4 Clockworkmod. A must have in my opinion.
Opera Mobile Browser - Bigger and badder than Opera Mini and any other browser. Probably not to popular with minimalist fans but this browser is a very pretty and solid browser with a great development team. The latest version has a new ui and is very stable in my experience

Yep, shouldn't be a problem. Just log back in to your amazon account and they'll be on your apps list to reinstall. I've done a full wipe to test it.
Edit: As well, all apps from the Amazon Appstore are upgraded from the Appstore so as far as I know, there should be no issues between it and the Google market.

sweet just did and had no problems at all. as a bonus, i was actually able to install angry birds rio this time around on gingerbread.
Thanks OP,
I agree with all your apps youve posted but i have yet to try the amazon app.
If i may... i'd like to reccomend a few as well...
..if you are really into music (like i am) and have lots of gigs on your pc (i have about 500 gb) then the app {Audiogalaxy} is a MUST.
For all the music on your phone and a sweet-arse EQ you gotta have {PowerAmp}. my fav.
{Flow} for a flawless facebook experience. way better than the regular FB app, but not themed all purdy-like from our guys here at XDA. maybe soon??
...for an awesome clock/weather/system-info Widget, look no further than {FlipClock Blue Magic Dark}
{Music Junk} for downloading that song that just popped into your head.
{LCD Density Changer} i believe it changes the dpi of your screen.
{rootExplorer} my favorite file manager.
{Tweetcaster} my fav twitter app next to TweetDeck. has a killer blue themed interface and sweet Widget.
and i use {YouMail} for my voicemail needs and i have no complaints. i really like how you can change what greeting plays if the incoming call is either blocked/unavailable/or someone specific.
...and my favorite Camera App has got to be {Vignette}. it has sooo many filters/effects and takes the best looking pics imo. better than MIUI i think.
thanks XDA

I'm using a new SMS app called GeekSMS that popped up today. Minimalist and sleek, I dig it.

Honeycomb 3.1 announcement

So we should be seeing Honeycomb 3.1 for our transformers in the near future.
Google only showed a new task switcher and adjustable widgets as two new features. Shouldn't this be called Honeycomb 3.0.1? I'm not terribly impressed... I hope they fix some major force close issues and general bugs in the next release....
As for task/memory management, I wish they added a feature that allows us to exclude apps from ever being closed. Going back to a browser and having it reload 5 tabs EVERYTIME consumes a fair amount of bandwidth and time.

I feel the same about the update, seems very underwhelming. I wanted to see new games etc but that was non existent.

We are already at 3.0.1, but I agree with you doesn't seem like too much though I do like the new features.
I don't know what the heck google is thinking, but they need to focus on building a STABLE Android OS and really dumping resources into getting apps up to par with apple.
Instead they focus on remote light switches and facial recognition gimmicks... if quality apps don't start coming soon, it won't matter what flavor of desert they put out as it will be weak.

I'm sure they don't... I'm not sure who's giving them ideas like this, but when I upgrade my browser on my PC, it's not a Windows 7.1 update... with google, something as trivial as resizing widgets (which has been possible via 3rd party apps for a while) seems to qualify as a substantial upgrade.
Oh well, whatever keeps people excited.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
Stop and think for a moment. They are releasing a new build of an OS. I'm sure that the resizing of Widgets is not the only thing they are doing. I would be willing to bet there will be plenty of fixes in the update.

Some notable updates
- An updated home button, while still appearing the same, will now take the user to the most recently used home screen panel when pressed in an app instead of always taking the user to the center panel. (my pet peeve so far).
- PTP will allow users to connect a digital camera directly to a tablet so that the tablet can import all of the camera's photos.
- Web pages can now be saved for offline viewing, and the browser also offers faster zooming and support for hardware accelerated plug-ins.
A simple feature request. Allow us to choose which folders we wish to display in the Gallery. I'm unable to use it as all the album art from my music as well as bitmaps from apps really clog it up.

I think it's fairly good. USB host thing is cool, and resizable Widgets and a better browser good too. Also "UI transitions are improved throughout the system and across the standard apps. The Launcher animation is optimized for faster, smoother transition to and from the Apps list." So should overall feel smoother and no ui lag.
Honeycomb's pretty solid as it is and with these changes even better. Not sure why people are so disappointed really, what did you expect to be added?

I really hope they fixed the market app. That is my biggest pet peeve. You scroll down for 30 seconds, click on an app to check it out, click "back", and now you are back at the top, have to scroll way down again. When trying to find apps to install it is a huge pain.

I'm pretty sure 3.1 will support hardware acceleration, that to me is a HUGE improvement. Flash rendering should be a whole lot better. I already think Honeycomb is a very solid OS and the new features are exciting. As long as they keep rolling out updates I'll be happy.
I must admit what was announced at IO was underwhelming, but who cares? Are you used to Apple esque keynotes that praise "new" features that have been available on other OS's for years?

Best e-book reader app for Kindle Fire?

Hello, might be a strange question, as Kindle Fire is electronic ebook reader itself
But as we all know, we play it, we root it, we have this beauty called ICS CM9 and Kernel 3 with master Hashcode.
But now I have strange problem. I DO NO KNOW a good ebook reader app on the market. I'm missing the reading experience which I got from original Kindle Fire rom/software.
I tried Mantano reader - UI is just horrible. The text is stoo small to read(UI), it works slow and so on..
I tried google books - same crap, cannot use dictionary, what about highliting??.
I tried Kindle App - which I think is the best for reading books, and I found out that it is not scaled properly.
Any solution for scaling problem?
Or maybe some suggestions of nice ebook apps or advices how and what you guys use/do ?
Thank you very much
Check out Cool Reader and Moon Reader.

But do all of you have scaling problems with Kindle App ? Because it fells like it is not a full screen.
Also I tried Aldiko ( I heard it is the best ). For me it i the worst. The most laggy app I've ever experienced. Unusable on Kindle unfortunately
Don't think I'm picky or smth. I just hate an idea that there are no simple apps as ebook reader..or at least it's hard to find.

Aldiko is great, but for some strange reason it identifices a 7" tablet as our KF as a phone instead of a tablet. If they could get that fixed they would be kings of tablets again as well as they are of phones.

Ironically, I like the B&N Nook reader the best - IMHO the best legibility of fonts, spacing and scaling controls, and better/more intuitive/easier to use highlighting and commenting tools.

gandoe , I never actually see the NOOK app! I did a research and found that it is somehow restricted in my country - I can't download it via market.
Can someone upload this app please! link here http://www.appbrain.com/app/nook-for-android-by-b-n/bn.ereader
Here is what I found:
*Kobo app is working pretty flawless and smooth ! Best app so far I've used ( I dunno about the NOOK one though..) big thanx to milanche
*Kindle App is smooth as well, but it just doesn't completely full screen on my Kindle Fire.
*Aldiko for me is annoyingly laggy app, especially when zooming, scrolling pages etc..
*Mantano Reader is nice a well BUT UI text is way too small and it just doesn't feel nice as an app ( just my opinion)
So can someone upload NOOK for android apk ?
THANK YOU!
P.S. Yes I tried to use Market Enabler to fake my country, but it do not allow me to install.....

I use Aldiko and I love it. I have my background as tan and letters as brown and its quite easy on the eyes. Night setting is just the reverse brown/tan.
People talking about font being too small on some readers, isn't that customizable? I've only tried aldiko and kindle, an I was very unsatisfied with the kindle app. Alot of my book covers in the row were very small while some big and I couldn't find a fix so that killed it for me.
I do wish tho that the bookshelf in aldiko was resizeable. I like big book thumbnails.

I agree, but I use Aldiko only for free books, because I have 2 kindle devices so I need to use the stock kindle app to sync everything. But Aldiko does have small book covers and very basic page turn animation, but it still is pretty good
Sent from my Kindle Fire using Tapatalk
I don't know why but Aldiko when you turn pages of the ebook it delays for 1 sec or so. I particularly don't like that, and the book shelf has small thumbnails as mentioned. I'm playing with Kobo and NOOK apps now. I think NOOK is the best right now. Big thumbnails of books, quickly loads the books, nice animations on turning pages, and it's smooth when you turn pages. Easy highlight, notes selection tools. And you can adjust everything from font size to margins to font itself. So it's pretty cool app now for reading I think.
Kobo would be great as well, as I like the design of the app more. But it loads books slowly somehow. Even between chapter it takes some time to load book up. Selecting text and highliting is annoying though...
So I stick with NOOK now and probably Kindle app sometimes.
Aldiko would be great if they would fix small thumbnails of bookshelf, and if they would remove that scrolling the page delays...
Cool Reader is by far the best non stock kindle reading app. Because I was on stock for months before I switched to ICS, my entire library was MOBI format. SO I didn't have to convert them to another format. Cool Reader also has a ton of features, a lot more than the stock reader app or any of the other ones.

One of the BEST Android Browsers: Habit Browser

Not my app, just found in a Reddit post--tried it, it's amazing. Basically, whatever you're using right now is probably inferior. I used Boat Browser, then Chrome extensively. Dabbled in Dolphin, Firefox, Maxthon, and a few others. Habit Browser beats them all handily. Amazingly, it's free!!!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.ddo.pigsty.HabitBrowser
Best mostly unique features of HB (Habit Browser):
Set URL re-directs: don't you hate when XDA forum links from a Google search don't open Tapatalk? HB allows you to add new URL re-directs to apps (as many as you want)
Customize EVERY toolbar: customize the address bar, tab toolbar, and browsing toolbar (back, forward, refresh, home) to 1) go away 2) place exactly where you want them (top, bottom, this toolbar on top of that, etc.), 3) change the buttons (with swiping and long-press functionality), 4) themes, and lots more
Set a real home-page, meaning it will open when you open a new tab.
Pie control.
Gestures for flicking that DO NOT require another "interface" (like Dolphin's odd implementation).
A bajiillion more. Not even kidding; easily over 100 options.
The first three sold it to me instantly ("sold"...it's ACTUALLY FREE). I implore you to try it, not because I like it, but because it will change your Android browsing experience for the better.
