Need help! - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay so I'm on stock 3.2 without the latest update. But I am rooted. But I get the error when installing the update, so I was wondering what I need to do to get the update and is brks root batch script method working for the newest update (netflix support).

[Q] No OTA After Un-Root

Never got an OTA notification after unroot from pure root (TW version)
Unroot to 8.4.4.5, check update, no OTA update
Update to 8.4.4.11 from microsd, check update, no OTA update
Pure root and unroot directly to 8.4.4.11, check update, still no OTA update
Is it posible to update to 3.2 from microsd right now ?
update: do wipe data, check update, still no luck
ever get it? I just unrooted and am not getting ota either....
I'm guessing it's related to /system/etc/security/otacerts.zip. I don't know how you reverted to stock, but if that file wasn't correct for your box then you probably won't see updates. Can you download and unzip and restore just that file from one of the known ota updates? Make sure the permissions are right, probably 644.

Will i be able to update to ICS?

Hey guys i have a TF101G still on original Asus android honeycomb 3.2.1. I'm waiting for the OTA ICS update, but i was wondering if i will be able to do it, beacuse i rooted the tab with nachoroot.
I just have Superuser, no clockwork, no modded roms etc.
Thanks for any help
Are you asking if you can install the official Asus update via OTA? If so, I don't see why not but you'll have to wait for them to release it. If rooting is the only thing you've done then OTA updates should install fine but you will lose root after the upgrade. I would recommend you wait for a custom tf101g rom to come out.

So long as you did not remove (or freeze) any pre-installed apps and still have stock recovery it should update. You may want to grab the VooDoo OTA Rootkeeper to back up your root and then run it after the update to restore root. You will probably have to use Titanium Backup to restore permissions to SuperUser. The other option is to do NachoRoot (or ViperMod Option 1) after the ICS update.

[Q] Will I keep root after OTA?

I just got my Shield Tablet and rooted it. I keep getting two OTA notifications, one says ROM Update the other says Tegra Update. Will I keep root of I do the OTA updates?
I'd like to get a recovery added, but it seems that all the recoveries are incomplete. Is there a method to install recovery without a separate computer?

You can try the paid version of SuperSU to preserve root or the THT Rootkeeper (the other big root keeper doesn't work past 4.2) If you update the device to the official OTA, you will need a PC to reflash the recovery but you will not need to unlock the bootloader again.

Update Troubles

Hi everybody, i am currently running OxygenOS 5.1.0 and i am trying to update to latest version.
1. I tried with local update inside settings but nothing the message is: unable to install system update
2. I tried unlocking bootloader, installing TWRP and trying to install update via TWRP but i get stuck in Error7, seems like the package is not recognized for my phone.
I rad a lot about removing assert rows inside update scripts in the .zip package. Unfortunately in my package there is no update-script and i don't know any possible way to force my installation. Do you have any suggestion?
I'd recommend to go back to full stock (lock bootloader) and then try to do all the OTA updates. It's not working for you this way?

"Package verification failed" when trying to update Android 11

Hey all
So a while back I wanted to use a certain app on my Motorola One Hyper that required root privileges, so I rooted my phone using Magisk for it. I didn't need the app later so I unrooted my phone, but now when I try to update my phone to a newer version, I get an error message saying "Package verification failed. The update package being downloaded is not compatible with the current software version on the device".
I'm not sure if me rooting the device has anything to do with it or not, but I'm guessing it is since I never had this issue before the root. Any way to fix this? Thanks in advance!

Yes, it probably is the root.
If you are trying to update the stock rom, it probably will not work. You may have to manually flash the stock rom again. Then, you may be able to upgrade to android 11. Otherwise you can just manually install android 11.

Ahh gotcha. Looks like I'm gonna have to flash the stock rom then. Thanks a lot for your help!
Does having a SafetyNet fix have something to do with it? Maybe unrelated, maybe not but when I check off the software update on the Magisk DenyList, exit and then come back, it becomes unchecked and I don't know why. Perhaps if the OTA updates werent detecting root, I could update to a security patch.

Stock updates usually can't be applied to rooted devices or devices with custom recovery, root has to be completely removed and stock recovery has to be reinstalled. If those aren't corrected before applying the update, it will fail because it checks the system partition for modifications and requires stock recovery to apply the update, whether it actually boots into recovery or not during the update process.
