I am about to get a bigger sd card and want to know is there a way to copy my old ext partition from the old sd to the new one?
im not exactly sure but this is what i would try:
1. in recovery, make a nand+ext backup (lets hope you have amonra. i believe you can also do this in clockworkmod but i dont how)
2. turn off your phone, put in your new sdcard, boot into recovery, and partition it to your liking (preferably the same size as your old partition)
3. copy (not cut) all data from your old sdcard to your new sdcard (this means that your newly created backup from step 1 should now be on the new sdcard). this can be done by doing this:
put your old sdcard back into your phone
plug your phone into the computer
copy everything on your sdcard onto the computer
now put your new sdcard into the phone
copy everything from the computer back onto the phone
4. boot into recovery and restore your backup
im not sure if this will work. you are doing this at your own risk (but i dont think anything should go wrong. in the event that anything does go wrong, just put your old sdcard back into your phone.)
I'll second sweet n sour. Amon Ra will allow you to back up sd ext

So I just got a G-tablet and I'm a flashaholic on the Evo so I wanted to do the same with the G-Tab so I went and followed all the steps but after I mount system and data and o back to install zip from sd card I cant find the rom. When I click on the folder rom it tells me that there is no files in there. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong as I followed the steps and even went back and re read them at least 10 times. Thank you for your help
Do you have a micro SD card(SD Card2) in the tablet if so that may be where the backup went. Check SD Card 2 and you should see a ClockworkMod Folder.
The mistake I was making when I first tried to flash was id drop the file with the name of the rom that you download here right into the card. My recovery was not seeing. I then realised that you have to unzip this file and put the update.zip that you want to flash onto the card and only that. Hope that helps.
So I have been flashing custom rooms and kernels a lot over the past few weeks, with no issues. I have been running lordmod 4.5.2 kernel without issue. Today I flashed the -50 under volt script, taking a android backup beforehand.
So I go to boot it up after the flash, and it freezes up on me. I think no big deal, I will just do a nandroid restore. I boot into clockwork and attempt to do a restore - and it says no files found. I do a install from zip and it let's me browse the sd card. I attempt to flash a rom from there and it fails and says (bad).
I have pulled the battery and reseated the sd card multiple times. At this point I am trying to figure out why clockwork can read my sd card just fine, but not perform any actual functions like restore or flashing.
At this point my device is unusable, looking for help.
Thanks
Update: I was able to do a data wipe and reset from clockwork, and it booted up just fine. I have a titanium backup from last night so I will just restore it, and then try to figure out why clockwork coulnt read the sd card.
So looking at my sd card in a file browser on my phone, all my files andfolders are there, but they're all 0.00B. Wtf happened here? The only important thing on here was my titanium backups, which sucks that those are gone.
Is my card dead?

I have read that before you unplug your phone from your computer you must use the OS to Eject the SD card. The result of not doing this is supposed to be a corrupt card. Any chance this is what you did?
Edit: This is from the notes on the Hack Kit thread: IMPORTANT: BEFORE SWITCHING FROM DISK DRIVE TO CHARGE ONLY MODE, ALWAYS EJECT THE GOLDCARD WITH PC SOFTWARE TO FLUSH WRITE BUFFERS AND AVOID CORRUPTING THE SDCARD.

My phone wasnt plugged into my computer when this happened, nor did i eject my sdcard from the phone.
I'm thinking of getting a larger capacity sd card and am curious as to what I need to do. I'm running whitehawk's miui rom and it uses the external as the primary. I also have cwm on the external so what happens there?

Cwm is not "on" your external sdcard, it reads files "from" your external sdcard. Just swap the cards and you're done.

There's an alternate to the nvflash method where cwm is installed as /sdcard/update.zip, to keep the stock recovery on the phone but still have cwm when necessary. That's how it's done on my Vibrant, too, for example. Maybe that's what OP means.
In any case, just copy the contents of the old card to the new card. You can do it from within Android if you don't have a way to read the cards otherwise. If you're worried about problems, just backup with cwm before you copy the contents of the SD card over to your PC, then restore the backup after you've copied everything to the new SD if there are problems.

An update.zip file is an example of what cwm looks for to flash to the phone. Cwm (recovery) reads the update.zip from the sdcard and flashes it to the phone but update.zip is not cwm recovery.

I tried to do a search on this but found nothing, and I'm also apologizing ahead of time if I'm posting in the wrong section.
I am trying to get my LG G2x to a stock ROM using this guide: (can't post link since it's my first post, but it's "how to unroot the tmobile g2x" at the unlocker.
I was able to follow the steps and installed clockworkmod on the phone (v4.0.1.5). I am however having problem on step 6. When I do the the backup on clockworkmod (CWM), it automatically is doing the backup on the phone's internal memory, and not the sd card.
I tried to mount the phone with the PC and cut and paste the folder to the SD card, thinking CWM would pick it up after a reboot of the phone. However, this is not the case. I tried to find the SD card by trying to do "install zip from SDcard" in CWM, but there is only a DCIM folder in the _ExternalSD folder, and nothing else. No matter what I do, the backup is always saving to the internal memory, and not the SD card. If I leave the backup on the phone's memory, it is showing up under recovery in CWM, but I'm guessing it's not possible to flash the phone while it's running from the internal memory.
I formatted the card at least 3 times, and even tried another card just to be sure, but no luck still.
Am I doing something wrong? Do I have to do something to mount the card or unmount the phone memory? If anyone could please help. I have to send in my phone for warranty in a few days, and I desperately need to get it back to stock. Thanks.
Nvflash latest recovery (5.0.2.7 i believe)

Worked like a charm. I guess I had flashed the internal and SD option for nvflash, and that's what was messing up. 5.0.2.7 allows you to save only to SD card, so it worked perfectly. Thank you so much!

Latest also allows you to flash from internal/external.
Let's start with the history.
- Bought a HTC Desire.
- Used unrevoked, clockwordmod to flash Cyanogenmod (made backup of HTC Froyo/Sense installation).
- Used same tool to flash back the backup.
Now I want to install a new ROM with A2SD+. Used GParted Live CD to shrink the FAT32 partition (8 to 7GB) and created an EXT3 partion after the FAT32 one.
My problem: when booting into recovery by pressing volume down and the power button, the loader (hboot ??) is trying to find several pb99img and pb99diag files in the root of the SD card. Some posts talk about partitioning going wrong but I might have deleted the files from the card ("hey whats that file, don't know what it does, let's remove it).
Do I really need those files or should I wait 5 minutes (why does it even need that long to realize the files aren't present). If I need them, can I get them somewhere? Or just ignore it, continue to Clockwordmod Recovery and flash a new ROM from a ZIP file on the SD card?
