Mpeg video playing app? - HTC ChaCha

ive been using arcmedia to play mpeg / avi / wmv files ever since my first android device a few years ago. Just downloaded it on to my chacha but it doesnt seem to work at all - not sure if tis a gingerbread issue.
Any suggestions for an alternative video player?

Have you try moboplayer ?
I dunno on chacha because i wont play video on this small screen, but moboplayer play nice on my gtab running gingerbread.

Video player and music player

So i just came from the hd2 and i liked the music player on it. The evo's player is way different and im not happy with it. is there a way to get the hd2s or similar player layout?
Video.. what program can i get that will play mp4 avi and all the other codecs?
Do i need to root to be able to do any of this? or can i install some app?
any help would be nice.
Try DoubleTwist for Audio and mVideoPlayer for Video
Rockplayer wotks with most codecs, but is still in beta.
does rockplayer have a website to download the app?
Found this one. its actually very nice.. almost exactly what i was looking for.

What about the video player? I can't get some of my mp4 videos to play on my EVO. I will get sound but no picture.

need player for mkv files

i have some videos that are in the mkv format. i tried using rock player, but the video looks laggy and there's a discrepancy between the video and audio. it seems that the audio is ahead of the video. or is there a way to increase the frame rate for this format. i've tried almost every player in the market that came up under mkv and nothing that works right. my avi files work great though
I've tried all different players that play mkv and they are all laggy and the video is pixulated. I think the gtab is just not capable of playing them. But don't be sad the glorious opacity wont play them either results are the same.
Matt
i've been using rebox.NET found here http://www.videohelp.com/tools/rebox.NET, it basically re-muxes and converts audio to mp4 format from mkv, i've only tried 720p video so far, plays fine in rock player
I was reading the other day that an andriod version of VLC is being worked on. Hopefully that will do us right.

is this something you do on the tablet or you need to do it on a comp first?
why can't someone take the video player that comes with the archos101 and port into the gtablet? archos101 plays .mkv and just about everything else and I think the .apk is easily obtainable through archos101. I am not sure if the video player is what makes .mkv's work or if there is some system codecs involved. I used to have the archos101 and it did play .mkv's nicely.
yo do the conversion on the pc first, doesn't take but a couple minutes
The Archos player is probably optimized to the hardware inside the Archos which is different from ours.

I think a couple people have looked at doing that without success. I know I love the player on my little Archos5. It plays very nice, and also has the built-in upnp capability.
MKV (Matroska) support is compiled into stagefright/opencore on the devices that support it (Along with AC3, DTS, etc). It isn't just build into the player app.
Remember that matroska is just a container. being able to parse video streams out of an MKV won't magically give the Tegra2 enough beef to render 5.1aac+h.264 High-profile 1080p, in fact with the Tegra2 userspace libs in their current state you'll be lucky to get 1080p Main profile and only sure of playing Baseline profile.
Look at the video you want to play if its already High profile 1080p it will _never_ play on a Tegra2 device.
Remux (not re-encode) the MKV into an MP4 container, it it still doesn't play nothing short of updates from nvidia will change that.
ArcMedia
I've been using arcMedia and it runs flawlessly. Here's the apk. runs directly from Astro file manager. Long press on the video file, open file using archmedia. check the default box and every video file opened by arcMedia directly.

(Q) Is anyone else having issues with rockplayer and vplayer?

guys for some reason i cannot get either of these media players to play any videos, they both go to open a video, then jump back to the file explorer i started out trying .AVI videos but decided to try .3GP as its a native codec in android, even though the default gallery app can play the .3GP videos, rockplayer and Vplayer cannot anyone else having the same issues or is it just me
Can't help you with those players.
I use mvideo player and that works a treat.

will it play all my .AVI videos? i cant be bothered converting them all to .3GP haha
No it won't
Rockplayer latest version is working perfect for me...
Even with placebo streaming from my pc
Use moboplayer. It'll allow you to watch everything, including mkv files that have subtitles. I use it for anime and movies.
Although, some of my files won't play right if they're mkv in 720p.. the rest are fine

I had loads of issues with Rockplayer and Vplayer. I'm using ArcMedia now, works flawlessly. Plays flv files downloaded from YouTube etc. Also plays srt subtitles.
Moboplayer will also play embedded .ass subs.

Mkv 720p player

Sorry for my poor Eng.
Today I tried buzz player and it played my mkv 720p files with no lag at all (with internal buzz decoder), thought it suddenly stopped after period of time and then I couldn't see any media files, had to close and opened the app again. There're still some mirror problems with this player when working on honeycomb but I think it can play 720p mkv smoothly.
I tried moboplayer, mplayer, rockplayer and vplayer, rockplayer and vplayer couldn't play at all, mobo and mplayer work laggy.
So hopefully someone will have a look.
Plz correct me if I am wrong.

Video player for the note

Hi all,
The stock player plays quite a few files natively but wasn't able to recognize the .mov taken with my friend's DSLR. I used to use MX player with my old phone and it worked great with HW acceleration but when I try to play the .mov (1080p) on the Note, only SW acceleration is available for the note which is quite choppy and it wont let me install any of the codecs from the market. Does anyone know of any other video players for the Note, or have got MX player working properly? I tried installing the ARMv7 codec on the note, is this the right version?
Thanks in advance,
Shaizer.
Im running DicePlayer which works great.
There's no problem playing mov-files in 1080p, I just tried a 1080p trailer in mov with DicePlayer and it worked perfectly. However I'm not sure what bitrate the your mov-file is?
I have Mx video player installed without any extra codec. Apparently the idea is you only need a codec if it actually asks for it.
I have so far tried various formats mp4, mkv (both 720 & 1080) and it has played them all.
I'm using QQ Player.

I use dice player too. It works great with all my HD/SD videos with subtitles.
Awesome thanks all, will try DicePlayer and see how that goes. The bitrate of my .mov files are 46MBPS I guess its a raw format as it is straight from the camera.
Dice Player plays MKV's flawlessly.

As does MoboPlayer and best of all it's free.
I haven't found Moboplayer quite as good as Dice Player, but I do use it occasionally (it's software decoding is a bit better than Dice Player's).
Also using MoboPlayer; it works well.

Mobo is the only one that works for streaming from my NAS ... except the sound does not work!
No other player I have tried (including the ones mentioned above) will stream at all and I have yet to find one that works with the sound
