[Q] Browser losing windows - HTC Sensation

When multitasking whille having multiple windows opened in browser, when I switch back to browser, only one window remains. I wonder if it's normal, seems like a huge bug for me, I never had this kind of problem on my nexus one. Do your htc sensation stock browser has the same behavior ?
And don't answer me to use alternate browser, that's not what I'm looking for

My Sensation doesn't close windows in browser. Actually, I have never use it, because I use Opera Mobile / Opera Mini, but anyway, I tried now. I open few pages, close the browser with home button and go to gallery, to see some pictures And then I open browser back, and everything was like before.
(If I understand you wrong, sorry )

Mine are also closing randomly...not sure why?

Thanks for your answer, you understood me right.

This happens to me too. I don't think it's a bug, but it is rather annoying.

I don't think it's a bug either. Maybe the built in task manager is too aggressive with it.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium

it's not a bug. your phone was using a lot of memory & decided to kill your browser. when you go back to it, it's actually relaunching the browser & only has the last window you were on.

[APPS] Firefox for Android-is it good?

Anyone else using Firefox fr android? I installed the latest version, and to b honest I'm not tht impressed.I still feel that the stock browser is better.
Does anyone feel Firefox is faster?
The interface and the way u can go back, and switch between tabs is cool.

It has a way to go but remember it's still in alpha. A good Firefox could be a game changer as far as mobile browsing.

The app's size is too big, even can't install. I hate this.

A newer beta version is out which takes only 17mb instead of previous 43mb.. Try installing that..
Opera Mobile for Android will be out in a few days, that for sure will be better option
Really?can't wait to try the opera.it might b good.wonder whthr Google will ever think of a mobile chrome. The current stock browser isn't chrome right?

Firefox Mobile its taking only 5.56 MB of internal space after sending most of it to SD. Hey, that's better than Google Earth at least The only reason why I'll continue to hold on to the default browser is because it is the only one so far that handles text reflow properly. By proper, I mean that it resizes the text to a legible size and then squeezes it all into a single column the width of the display.

I used the new version last night and I didn't like it. The default UAstring was set to desktop so I had to install a user agent (phony). With phony installed i was able to select the agent and the experience was much better...but not better than HD Dolphin Browser.
Another option to explore would be 'MIUI Browser' it's awesome and it was just translated to English.
BTW 'phony' is a add-on. Inside of Firefox ->Settings-> Browse all add-ons-> type "phony" -> Download Now.
Agents under phony:
- Default
- Iphone
- Android
- Desktop Firefox
- Microsoft IE
I'm using an EVO
MIUM ROM 10.29
SNAP 7.6 kernel
Hope this helps.
Mi feelings no faster no flash 4 plugins
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
yeah. the only thing i like about this browser is sync...
that's it.
And i'm not switcing to chrome.
Just tried beta 2 on a Galaxy Tab. I like the UI, and the page rendering is fine, but the thing takes about 4s to start up, and has no support for Flash plugin.
Not ready yet.
Firefox allows you to sync bookmark with your pc, it's a great features.
Too bad, the browser is that slow
I tried it out but I don't like the delay it takes for the text to become clear when zooming in.
It also takes more than 5 seconds to load up.
I also don't like the tabs being on the side, compared to the Default browser that has pinch to switch between tabs.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
It still doesnt have flash, I dont use Firefox so IDC about sync, still pretty slow, file size still huge compared to other browsers, still feels slow to my standard browser(xScope) and it loads pages with a computer userID which makes the fonts look horrendous, It also has its own highlighting system which is weird. I'm always scrolling into the side bars. Still its in alpha and the fact that it has plugins makes it amazing by itself, and for anyone who tried the first release of fennec when compared to the latest release of Firefox mobile knows the huge improvements they have made, hopefully the development will move to the right direction.
Well, looks bad as I expected. Firefrox was never good in innovation, they are only good in imitating other browsers. As the desktop version most features are "stolen" from other browsers like opera. So I will wait for opera mobile, but still the desire stock browser is good enough for almost everything.
try installed it yesterday and i feel it kindda slow..
also make my x10i laggy..
Dolphin Browser HD much better than Firefox.
I assume it doesn't work with a CDMA Hero... It was not shown on the supported list of the experimental ARMv6 nightly builds (about 2 links away from the Firefox Mobile download page)
Sent from my CDMA Hero running Cyanogen Mod using XDA APP
1-start up time is slow because firefox mobile doesn't use the built in webkit engine it uses its own so it has to load its libraries up every time it starts because of the way google makes third party libraries load or some such. It will most likely never start up as fast as webkit based browsers on android.
2. It IS faster than any webkit browser on android which includes dolphin hd etc. This has been proven in benchmarks.
3. Its because of the extra libraries it needs that its size is as large as it is there is no way around the fact that it will be bigger than all the other browsers. They don't use their own rendering engine.
4.It does not include flash support yet which i agree sucks but supposedly they are working with adobe on this.
Opera Mobile i believe does also use its own rendering engine which will make it firefox mobiles main competition.
It isn't as clean or fault-free as the stock browser (at least for my Epic). It is in early stages, and it has to be downloaded straight from Mozilla's website, as the market is flooded with outrageously misleading applications adorned the Firefox logo. I use it once in a while, but when I select the option to use Firefox as a browser after, say, clicking a link in an email, it fails to load completely and sticks on a blank, dark screen.
I am going to keep it, though. It's a nice alternative, although not much different.

[Q] Fire Fox on Sensation

Does anyone use Fire Fox web browser on Sensation? If so do you know if we can get Greasemonkey installed? Or something that can run a user script file?
Thanks
I had Firefox beta 6 I believe (or whatever the latest one is) and I didn't even keep it long enough to figure out if you can run those. I really prefer stock browser over that slow junk.
Just my opinion though
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using Tapatalk
I also use mobile firefox. I have both 5 and 6 Beta installed. AFAIK Greasemoney is currently only available as a Desktop plug in.
I am not sure what others will do the job for you, but you can try searching their mobile plug in library.
To do this in FF:
-Swipe the entire page left
-Tap the gear icon on the bottom right (this will bring up a new screen)
-Tap the puzzle icon on the top to select the plugins page
-On the plugin page there will be a search box below your installed plugins.
Hope this helps.

I find Firefox quite unusable on the Sensation, a couple of open tabs is sufficient to cause Sense to shut down, requiring a restart when you exit the browser. Thats partly the Sensation's fault because of its low free RAM, and partly Firefox's fault for being bloatware. Frustrating, since I like Firefox in my SGSII and Galaxy Tab 10.1, which can cope with it despite its resource-hunger.
i actually havent had any issues with firefox, but i prefer the stock browser...
the best part about firefox on android is saving entire webpages as pdf's!
that, and syncing with your desktop. that was a clever idea
Try to use Dolphin Browser HD.
Would a plug in cound as a .JS file? As the site I'm playing needs this user script to have it more customizable. I've had no problems with FF or the sock browser, I've found that FF loads faster on some pages than the stock, but the stock just seems more simple to use.
Thanks again guys
Or if someoen has worked on a mobile version of "greasemonkey" ?
I recommend dolphin mini

opera mobile... hardware accelerated pinch and scroll = win.
I used FireFox for a bit totally not useable I've now switched to opera and do far so good

i have firefox... sadly firefox doesnt support alot of things at the moment like flash, etc... i find dolphin hd to be the best browser by far for android... and once firefox catches up i will probably switch back over.... i think firefox has only realised the mass market of android in terms of their browser use as many are firefox desktop users... in time features will be implemented
I got flash to show up on Mobileburn with Firefox but it was kind of unstable and crashed..
Anyway Firefox uses less ram than any other browser (besides stock I think) and runs smoothly on my Sensation 4G. The Sense launcher is getting pushed out of the memory because it stinks. It happens with Dolphin, Opera Mobile and etc.

Browser "Refresh" question

Hey guys just recently got my AT&T One X, and I am having this annoying "problem" on my browser. Most of the times when I leave the browser then I go back in it it refresh the page instead of staying like when I left the page. This happen on my iPhone when I have to many tabs open or runs too many apps. Most of the apps on my ONE X are not running and coming back from the lock screen and going into the browser the "page" refresh by itself. Pretty annoying for me plus it uses more data. Just wondering if anyone is having this issue. I also tried the "Dolphin browser" and it happen on this browser too.
On a side note I have the Galaxy Note GT7000 and the above issue rarely happen, but on the ONE X this issue happens let say 7 out of the 10 times do something or go back to the browser.
What browser are you using? This happens for me as well but only in chrome beta, I assumed it was a chrome software problem. When I use dolphin HD this does not happen.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
It's not a browser issue but multitasking. Apparently when we multitask on the one x it refreshes the apps. I don't know if this is a feature or a bug.

The real issue is the one x has murdered multitasking somehow. I use 3 apps. email, chrome (or internet), and mail. sometimes another or 2. after a few minutes the one x kills those processes and when I relaunch the app is has to load. There is some VERY screwy stuff going on.

I'm glad I'm not alone, it's really bad on the One X especially with chrome. I can't answer a google talk and switch directly back without a full page refresh.
Not to mention the fact that the switcher is horribly implemented and shows almost no information.
PeterHTC said:
I, too, had the "loading" issue every time I closed an app and went back to my home screen.
Here's the solution, although, it works for MOST and not ALL people.
Go to Settings=>Developer Options, and scroll down to the section entitled "Apps."
The first entry should be "Don't keep activities."
Make sure this is UNCHECKED. If it's already UNCHECKED, check it and reboot, and then go back in and UNCHECK it and reboot.
It solved my "Loading" problem immediately..

I saw this in another thread, does anyone want to try it?
I'm guessing this is one of the ways HTC is trying to save battery life. Is this similar to how the iPhone does it?

This is actually with the stock browser. I also tried Dolphin browser and it is happening as well.
Happens to me also. It doesn't multitask at all, yesterday I was trying to type something into the phone keypad and the numbers I entered kept disappearing when I'd come back to the app. The browser reloads all the time and I downloaded every browser from the market, all of them did it. One thing I loved about wp is that tabs wouldn't reload even weeks later.

We have the same issue but some people here don't have this problem, only by using Chrome.
glad someone else noticed this.. there is almost no true multi-tasking that is happening.. this has to be a bug. I tried the developer option above, didn't change anything.
Went back to the store to play with the DEMO and tried all 3 phones and the problem is there. This is a big software issue, to me is pretty annoying. It is a great phone but this is not good for me. To bad this phone can't be rooted to run a different ROM!! Dammit AT&T!!!!
Fixed the multi tasking problem a little bit and now the browser doesn't refresh as much as before.
You have to go to developers option and under apps make sure background is unchecked. If it's already unchecked, check it, restart , uncheck , restart.
Most apps won't refresh now including browser.

under developers options and apps theres a "background processes limit" but not just background that can be checked/unchecked...

yea that defaults to unchecked. and i just tried checking it, backing out, going back in and unchecking it and so far i'm not noticing any difference but we'll see what happens...
Are we absolutely sure it's downloaded again? Or is the DOM of the page simply refreshed? Meaning while minimized, perhaps everything is hidden to improve performance...Then when you come back to it, everything is put back on the page.
Do we know additional data is used and the page is completely downloaded again?
I've seen this too and it just looked like a page refresh and it loads back instantly for me. So I assumed it was purely visual (either by design or by accident). However, it could have also just as easily downloaded everything again very quickly...

well isn't the fact that games don't resume where you left them further proof that it's not actually "multitasking" its just starting the app again. it just happens in the browser's case to remember what page you were on. on an ipad for example you can have 20 games open and they all resume exactly where they were when you switch back to them... i think its a multitasking issue with either this phone or android 4.0 in general (i haven't used any other 4.0 phones, just 2.3 on back, so i'm not sure about that)

New Dolphin Browser Beta, best HTML5 compatibility

As titled, new dolphin beta, go download and try, it's very refined.
apk link: http://goo.gl/5FTcO
http://dolphin-browser.com/2012/06/...e-browser-try-out-our-dolphin-engine-in-beta/
I use it now instead of Chrome It's really fast and fluid and does change the setup of text when I zoom in so I don't have to scroll all the time. That's the one thing I hate about Chrome
I replaced chrome as well. One thing i'm going to miss is desktop/phone tab sync.
i also use chrome. lets see how this fairs against it.

Akways used DB. Ever since Android 2.3 came out. Still love it over Chrome now-a-days because of speed dial bookmarks on the load page. I can't stand the way Chrome displays bookmarks; albeit it does sync with desktop Chrome which is a plus over DB.
Been on DB since 1.6 donut on the G1 and doubt I'll ever change. Makes it hard to switch from something you know inside out.
I've tested stock-chrome-DB beta. According to my experience stock still is the fastest. DB comes second and chrome the last.

Google Chrome

Engadget says Google Chrome is out of beta and now available for download in Play Store.

I'm running OpenSensation ROM Android 4.0.4 (CM9) and don't see any reason to switch to another browser. Have I missed something? Have you tried out Google Chrome on HTC Sensation? What are the features that impressed you most?
Cheers from Munich/Germany

Chrome is a brilliant browser.
For a start it has lots of graphical effects, it is very quick, it does use a large amount RAM if that bothers you.
Syncing things like bookmarks ,history , etc is very easy too. Just try it. If you don't like it, uninstall it ?

Only thing I don't like about chrome is that there is no flash support. Not Google's fault, Adobe chose nit to support any new browsers.

chrome is fast, reliable and offers great syncing possibilities (if you use chrome on your desktop/notebook).
So far the best browser I have ever used on my sensation, especially the sync feature is really worth the try.
The bad thing is it first needs loads of internal space and second uses a lot of RAM.
I'm using it a couple of days now and it works without any problem. Only thing that bothers me is lack of Flash support but, as we all know, soon there will be no Flash at all for our android babies...
But I got myself the .apk file of Flash Player so I can install it anytime in the future.

chrome
The main reason why I use it is for the Google Chrome Tab Sync. I love being able to leave a tab open on my desktop and then leave town and pull up the page I was just looking at and continue on reading.
