Does anyone know how to make boot animations for miui? I have the zip that would normally work however I know that doesn't work in miui and miui uses mtz. Can you simply rename it or is there a harder process
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Gonna bump this 'cuz I have the same issue....anyone have an answer?
You can just replace the bootanimation.zip with the one you have. Just open the .mtz using 7zip and replace the bootanimation.

Please help?

Are you trying to open the .jar file? I never tried, I dont know java code. I only push .jar files and hope for the best.
No, I mean go to the link and click it, there's nothing there but text. No download.
DL'd fine for me, try right click save as. If it still doesnt work let me know I will upload it to different server.
edit: zipped original files http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CS8HMERA

Did my files work for you?
This is the Xoom boot animation ported for the Nexus One. All credits go to tntdroid over at the androidcentral forums for his DroidX port.
Instructions
Place in tools folder, open a cmd prompt and:
Code:
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local
Link.
Link2
Alternatively, flash the Xoom-signed file in your recovery of choice:
Link
Note: The little honeycomb bee is not part of the bootanimation but rather seems to be a splash screen, which as of yet N1 users can't change.
Do these instructions apply to the HD Desire port also...like MM's 1.7 build? Or is there some other location to push it to?
Thanks...looks cool.

The video doesn't do it justice.
I was hesitance because honestly it didn't look all that with the video.
I tried it and in person it's awesome looking. Thank you.
Also: I used Root Explorer to move the file to data/local
Will this work on MIUI ROMs?

Yep, all N1 ROMs should be compatible, in fact unless I missed something all 800x480 devices should be compatible.
Good news every! This works perfectly!

+1 to this. I have rebooted twice in a row just to watch it!
Any possibility of this being made to a flashable zip? If anyone could be kind enough to do so for the more less experienced users it would be greatly appreciated.......thnx.

It is really simple. Use root explorer to place the zip file in data/local. Reboot and enjoy.

I'll have a look into making one tomorrow. I've been meaning to try my hand at making an update-script so I'll have a crack at it then. Oh and baseballfanz is correct, Android Mate also has a root file explorer.

i guess my whole point with a flashable zip is just providing more options, i mean i always thought that was the whole concept of open source, providing options....ya know? Again thnx for the responses and all the work everyone puts into the android world, its a fun experience...really is..

So I did I metamorph to change my 3g icon and when I look through my file managers, whether its astro or root explorer I can't seem to find that file or same icon, iv done a search and it comes up with nothing. But from just looking around I can find different 3g icons but not the one I'm running. So I guess my question is, is there a way to find it or get rid of the morph I did?
Metamorph applies the image to the apk itself so the only way to view the file or revert back to what you had, you will either have to download and decompile the apk or reflash the previous apk to revert back.

I have no idea but you could look in /system/framework/framework-res.apk/res or
/system/framework/htc.resources.apk or look in /system/app/browser(or whatever its called)/res.
I have put a bootanimation.zip file in every known directory that ive read about, ive also deleted every zip file with the word animation it it and i still have the stock uscc animation how do i get rid of it/change it.
what directory is this animation it?
Ive tried:
data/local
system/media
system/customize/resources---(doesn't exist)
Ive searched for animation in root explorer and deleted any bootanimation.zip or similar file.

You have to use a kernel that supports bootanimations.

in system/app. delete your mms.apk before pasting. copy your old mms.apk and put it somewhere in case you need to reinstall it.
