Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App

I'm able to help with testing and porting.
I think ice cream sandwich will be a better port, it would still be cool to have honeycomb!

Seriously though, looking through that thread and the thread for nexus one ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11498650 ), lots of complaints about using honeycomb on phones. It is a tablet os, quickly replaced by ICS, and will probably never release all of the source for HC.
I'm still down to tinker.

Will sgs4g get ice cream sandwich

I know its a long long ways off and we havent even officaly gotten GB but do you think when ice cream sandwich rolls out this phone might have a chance or will there be to many new phones overshadowing this one, this is a mere topic question im not looking for an offical answer so dont flame me please. More than likely, we'll only see it if it gets ported by the community itself. That's just my opinion though.

to be honest dont know if you guys will want ice cream, rumors are that the ice cream OS will make it so you cant really customize the phone with mods and tweaks and what not
thats what they are aiming for :/

aww that sucks, good to hear people opinions even yours amypooter.
Will we get it yes yes we will will you want it thats a whole nother story.
I saw when it was announced and they said it was still going to be open source unlike honeycomb so that way devs can put their hands on it too. I dont really se how it won't be customizable if it is open source maybe I'm wrong hope not, but lets hope is not like you said that they are aiming for customizable to go away because lets be honest thats kinna the beauty of android other than just plain awesomeness even whith out any mods or tweaks.

Yes, I know the SDK lacks the hardware drivers that's why I asked about the source, because until that drops, no need to get excited.

ICS Ported to Captivate

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1324831
It's works pretty well for it's early stage. I have it on a Captivate now and it does have some functionality. No camera, GPS seems borked, but 3G and WiFi do function. Things are looking up folks. We may actually see some Ice Cream on our phones! The Movie Studio doesn't work (for me at least, not sure about others), but it's a welcome feature once fixed. Something Android has been missing since the start. This could prolly be Hellraised, but I'd wait until more kinks are worked out. It's very Alpha at this point.
If all these other phones are getting ics ported b4 us then hope might as well be lost We don't have as much dev interest as all these other phones do.

Well, if we wait for the cappy or i9000 to get it first, basicly our infuses is the same device, just bigger and a tiny bit different. Then linux could probably port it pretty easily.
Wow!
That was fast. Infuse Kids....I think we're gonna see ICS before AT&T blesses GB!
And that would be a shame. I'm very excited. I'd love to try this out on my wife's Cappy for a spin. Will a nandroid backup successfully restore the custom GB Rom she's rocking now if I flash ICS?
WTF my old phone gets ICS before my current newer phone. I hope we get something soon.
I tried messing with it today changing the boot.img and some egl and lib files...havent got it to boot yet....im thinking we r gonna need a kernel with modified mtd partitions before we get a patially working port..

[Q] g2x ice cream sandwich

I am a newbie to my G2x from Tmobile.
I do understand that LG has not released an update to upgrade to ice cream sandwich. Right?
So, how do I get Ice Cream Sandwich on my phone? I am computer savvy and can understand instructions if made easy to understand. I know its something about rooting my phone right?
Could someone send me instructions on how to upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich?
Or is LG planning to upgrade G2x to Ice Cream Sandwich?
Help, please........
Thanks.....

Yup just like our friend said check the dev section.
When you get there look for clockwork recovery, once you install that make a back up of your current rom and then you can install any rom of your choosing.
I never asked for help when I started so if I can do it you definitely can do it, pm or something if you got any other Q's.

This! ICS looks nice and all, but its performance is pretty bad. I've load up countless amounts of ICS roms, but they were never as good as the Weapon rom which is GB. I'm on gensis right now and it lags, gps never locks. Might just go back to weapon in a few days.

Do u know if Wifi calling works on that JB CM 10 build? I got my GB Tom all setup nicely and don't wanna flash JB to find out it doesn't work. I know in ICS Rome it didn't. The source drop has built in support for the 990 and 999 so once they get the compiles done its full HWA ICS so should solve all the issues in the hackfest roms given a week or two.
Wait until someone makes a port and proper fully working ROM for our phone, the hackfests are fun, but not for anyone who needs anything stable/daily.

Why do you think the sgs4g needs to get ics? My phone is fast got extremely great battery life and tons of other things. Do you just want ics so you could have the latest android flavor or do you think or know it will make our phones that much better. I'm not trying to be a smartass just curious why ppl are this rilled up about ics.
I think the only reason is because "others have it".

Great words blazen you know maybe ics has some quiet interesting features but our developers make than our phone from crappy to gingerbread better than ics that is one the reasons I want to start developing because I feel that I got skills to make some good stuff for the phone ( like themes and guides only things that i have finished) and other reason is because here our developers are way better than samsungs horrible costumer service....anyway every sgs4g user most appreciete the developers work even if the projects are not finished like ics port and aosp port because that makes people more happy and they know that there works are awesome

I believe that most want it because it is the newest OS and most believe it will be an improvement, much like GB compared to Froyo... Which is understandable considering the developers here are going full bore in a attempt to port ICS.
Being one of those that was satisfied with froyo, I have to admit I am even more satisfied with GB... But as for your question, I personally hope that it is released for our phone because if it is, so to would the source be released (just imagine what the developers could accomplish with it).
Just my 2 cents in the well.

You do realize that's a post from someone in the forums right? No word from Samsung USA. You cannot depend on what a customer service rep says, they sit behind the computer all day and still do not know a thing about the products they are supposed to be supporting. They are just trying to shut us up about it already. If the OG galaxy s gets just a value pack, it'd be hard to imagine them bending backwards to give us full ICS

If I am not mistaken the T-Mobile version is the same as the Telus S2 in Canada. If it is I would not be in any hurry to upgrade to ICS. My own experience and experience of others as reported on the Howardforums has not been stellar. Problems with apps freezing and battery life going in the toilet are common. Looks great, just doesn't work very well. I would hold off until these issues are addressed. I usually always wait to do an update until I here some feedback but this time I jumped in and am now regretting it.
Just a word to the wise
