Ok, so I forgot to do a Nandroid backup and want my original ROM back. What now? - HTC Sensation

I tried custom Roms for the first time, and they totally ruined it for me. My touchscreen is kinda not as responsive as it used to be, both with insert coin and Revolution Rom.
So now I want my original Rom back. I only did a Titanium Backup. Since my phone was a branded one, I have no chance of getting the same ROM back, do I? I still have the 2.3.4. OTA update from my carrier though, but not previous versions.

Go to s off guide. Scroll down. read about flashing ruu

Bro I read your guide thoroughly. Problem is, I don't have the original ROM from my provider so I could flash it. Yes I can flah the european RUU but it will not be the same as from Swisscom (my prvodier). Installing the custom roms wiped my phone partition so no restore.
Or am I missing something here?
Edit: Ok nevermind, I just figured I actually did a clockwork backup image when I was doing the steps in your guide. So I hope restoring to that image will fix it for me. Thx for the hint though. And nice gudie btw, keep on the good work!

Clockwork back up is nandroid lol

PLEASEEEE try this rom before you revert back to stock, try out P3D Neon 4.1.
Best ROM I have used! I have tried leedroids, insertcoin's, and 3 other roms and this one has to be the best one.
If you're not into a ROM with eye-candy and such then nevermind, but it's the smoothest ROM IMO, has good battery life too.

I'm very much into eyecandy Well I might give it a shot...
You getting paid for advertising it or what

What is the file name of the OTA you have?

If you're talking about the official update from HTC, you'll have to unroot/get back to stock to update. No one knows when or if that update will come.
As far as custom gingerbread ROMs go, all you'll need to do is a nandroid backup through recovery, wipe, and flash. Shouldn't be any problem there, and if there is you can just restore from your backup.
Just make sure you've read up on the ROM you want to flash so there won't be any surprises when something is incompatible. Also know that there aren't any Sense ROMs on GB yet, so if you're not used to AOSP, you should familiarize yourself with the differences.
Ok thank you, Im happy with my phone as it right now. Until then I just wait for updates.

Download Rom manager in market. Or search if on google. Type custom Rom for what phone you have.

Few questions about rooting

Hi...
I want to delete some apps like stocks...and i know i need to be rooted for it...
But when i trien temp-root with free3vo...deleted some apps and they were never deleted...
I dont want to perma root cz i think then i wont be able to get updates from htc...
I dont want anything more then rooting cz i love sense and thats why i actually bought sensation...
But now my phone is getting slower and i think deleting stock apps will solve it...
Is there anything just like one click root or i have to wait for unlock bootloader...
And i dont even have drivers for my sensation on my pc...so if someone can provide it...ill so thankful...its not downloading from htc site.
Thanks..
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA Premium App
Temp root with fr3vo will not let you permanently delete apps. They will just return upon reboot because they weren't really deleted in the first place. Trust me when I say that htc is not rushing to get updates out to us. Or any of their phones for that matter. People are on their Facebook page everyday pleading for updates. Devs are way more eager so your best bet would be to flash a custom rom because then you are guaranteed an update to the newest android. You can't root without unlocking your bootloader. You can do this at revolutionary.io. The instructions are at the top of the development thread. Along with the drivers. Just because you root doesn't mean that you can't have sense. We actually don't have a real "no-sense" aosp rom yet. Go ahead. Free your phone from htc's grip. Then you can delete at your heart's will.
Okk...so you mean i would have to s-off i think...and which is the best custom rom according to you with sense...and can i revert back to stock rom if i want??
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA Premium App
Yes s-off is the best option. The best you can do is do some research. Read the 1st post of the rom's thread and find out which suits you best.
Thanks...
But will i be able to revert back to original??

Once you have cwm you can backup your original rom. If for some reason you want back to original rom, you can restore it with cwm.
Thanks...but as i am a nood...
I tried s-off with revolutionary but it showed me sofe error communication with phone is intrrepted unepectdly try again later...so i couldnt s-off n cant even find some help on it..
So i thought the other way...first flashing the 1.45 on my phone then getting bootloader unlocked with the htcdev...
So guys can you plz guide me to most easiest and simplest guide to flash it...

New to Android here. Does CWM backup the original ROM in it's "pure" state, i.e. factory fresh? Or does it backup the ROM based on your phone's current state.
I'm coming from an iPhone, where the iOS files were easily accessible and I never made back-ups. I have so many questions about Android modding. This forum is filled with information, but has my head spinning.

Try reading the stickies on top of the development boards. Following directions also helps. I was able to s-off in one click, I don't see why you're having so much trouble.

I would surmise that its a backup of the phones current state. I was still s-offed after I restored my phone to my stock backup after a botched adb push.
Take it a day at a time, took me about a week to get up to speed on this thing. Learning how to use adb and knowing a few basic commands will make your life easier.

It is indeed a backup of the current state. You will be s-off as long as you don't take an update or change your bootloader. Your bootloader is not included in a backup as it is not necessary.

[Q] How do I get a stock ROM?

Hi All,
I'm about to root and flash a new ROM onto my HTC Sensation but before I do so, I want to have a backup of the stock ROM in case I need to take the phone in for a repair.
I'm looking for the Vodafone Australia HTC Sensation stock ROM but can't find it!
Does anyone have one which they could send me a link to?
Or, is there a way which I can make a backup of the stock ROM from my phone?
Thanks!
EDIT: just to clarify, I've tried searching for the RUU but there don't seem to be any for Vodafone AUS. So is there anyway to backup the stock? Thanks! (I'm not exactly a newbie at rooting/flashing, just never had to worry about backing up for warranty purposes before)
i was wondering the same thing! cant find the ruu! hope someone can guide us to restore without a RUU
or some method gets invented

hey did you find a way to do it?
People, before you flash a new rom you need to make a nandroid back up! In case you need to restore your phone for what ever reason.....
This is also done in clockworkmod recovery.....
Hit the backup/restore button and you are good to go.
If you look at the step by step install protocols in the tread of your choosen rom, one of the first steps is DO A NONDROIDBACKUP....
Goodluck!

you cant S-on without a RUU though? thats what the guide says?
If you do restore, you are unrooted.... But be careful restoring s-on, its more riskie than requiring s-of! Read the threads regarding this proces and do what it says every step!

You'll need to have stock recovery and bootloader, which a nandroid backup doesn't save. And only an RUU, AFAIK will give you those.

Here is a link to an Australian Vodafone stock RUU, I note yours is a slightly newer version than this RUU, however I would expect this would be fine if you need to go back to stock.
http://www.filefactory.com/file/c13...00U_10.14.9035.01_M_release_220002_signed.exe (thanks to Football)
BTW you either need your stock RUU or you need to have backed up stock recovery and Hboot before rooting (via temp root) because these are overwritten in the revolutionary s-off and custom recovery installation process. A nandroid backup is important but it won't take you back to stock.
For a short time I've got the RUU in my dropbox, it might be a bit quicker and less ads! http://is.gd/Vaq45l

[q] htc sensation xe - rom problem

Hi guys, i've looked everywhere for the similar posts & i can't seem to find one!
Please bare in mind this is just a general interest as i no longer have the phone!
Sorry in advance if there is one!
Right, a few months ago i had my HTC sensation XE (with beats audio)...
Orginally came with Gingerbread and i updated to ICS successfully.
A few weeks passed and i decided to read up on rooting my sensation.
I went through the process of rooting and flashing recovery etc and that went through all fine, then i became interessted in ROMS.
I created a nandroid back-up in CWM recovery just incase anything went terribly wrong - which it did - the phone got stuck on HTC start up screen... wouldn't move from there. I kept restarting to see if it'd be nice and start up but it never did. So i panicked i started trying to run RUU's, flash my nandroid back up.. all of which were successful, but still stuck on the htc screen?
Any ideas what i done wrong?
I'm getting a HTC One X today and i'm considering rooting, i really don't want the same thing happening again!
All ideas i'd be happy to read!
Thanks!
Did you use the correct firmware for the rom? Ics takes 3.32 firmware. If you don't flash the correct firmware it will cause big problems.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
Good question, that could be why- i literally tried so many rom's and ruu's and tricks to try and get it past the htc screen.
Do you think it's worth me Rooting my HTC ONE x?
Thanks for the reply x
When you do that you should update your firmware but sense you didn't it caused a boot loop and when you try to go to your nand back up you lost your boot.IMG thats why it won't boot extract from the zip file and place it in the same folder that contains your adb driver and fastboot and typ your commands to get your fastboot driver working and then typ fastboot flash boot boot.img when thats done typ fastboot reboot and watch the magic and you must have a copy of the zip on your pc or laptop meaning the Rom you made nand back up of

Best to ask that in the One X forum IMO as they can comment on the custom ROM's better of course.
I'd say depends if you're happy with the stock ROM. If you are and don't need the root features then leave it.
Otherwise go for it.

Battery

So I'm having an issue with my battery life, The other day I left my phone completely run out of charge and die during the night. The next day I woke up and recharged it fully. Now my phone does last more then an hour or two off the charger with use when before I could use my phone most of the day and have no issue with battery life. I don't understand why letting my battery completely drain and then recharging it would cause it to act like this.

unfortunately i'm not sure why the sensation does this, but it happened to me too before i rooted it. i read somewhere that the sensation has some kind of design flaw that makes the battery act weird (get really hot for no reason, reboots, fast battery drain, ect.) my recommendations would be to buy another battery ( $15 anker 1900mAh on amazon works nicely and gives you longer life) and to root your phone and flash a custom ROM. the devs out there have done some good work to make superior software than what comes stock on the sensation. my phone works better than it ever has now. but, thats as far as my expertise goes good luck. maybe someone else has more info

Ok mate, now you are ready to go. You are rooted so you should have custom recovey installed. For VipreS you will need 4EXT recovey. So if you have clockwork recovey then first flash 4EXT recovey.
Then download full Rom from that thread. Copy that Rom.zip file to recovey.
If your sensation has ICS then you don't need to flash firmware. If gingerbread then you need to update your firmware.
So if you are on ICS then copy Rom.zip to sd card boot in to recovey select install from sd card option. Then browse to Rom file and select. It will start aroma installer where you select what you want. I would suggest to select full wipe so your old system get clean properly.
Good luck mate:thumbup:
