Ive done a search and have failed to find help in other threads so here goes.
I recently upgraded to the sensation and i love it. One problem though, some of the sites i visit load up the mobile version of the sites even when mobile view is unticked. I figured this issue would be solved when i flash a new rom. So i have flashed Insertcoin, but despite there being an added option in the browser to alter the user string i still have the same issue. Is there any way round this?
probably the site reading what os/browser you are using
With opera on my old hd2 you could change what the browser presents itself as, might be worth looking to see if the android version can do the sam, or maybe Dolphin browser.
on the stock browser type in "about:debug" then go into the browser settings. I think there's an option. But will reset if you reboot your phone.

what the op is saying is that even with some of these ROMs, there is an option in the browser to change the UI string to desktop, BUT some websites still show the mobile version. Hopefully someone can get a fix for this
Yeah, what piimp says is correct. I've tried the above suggestions bet they don't start to work. And the custom roms I have used have an option in the browser to change the user string, but the mobile sites still show!

all the available, so Desktop, ipad, iphone, froyo n1, and android. There is also a manual option, but I wouldn't know what to type here so not tried it!

Hi,
I entered in UA code on my ARHD 3.0.1:
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 9.0; Windows NT 6.1; Trident/5.0)
and it works.
Found code here: http://user-agent-string.info/

This doesn't appear to work either.
The sites I have had the problem with so far include, paddy power, coral, betfred and more including some adult video sites. Sssshhhh! Don't shout it out though!

You´re right. e.g. Paddy Power - never heart before - only opens android-mobile site with these settings. Changing UA settings to Desktop open iphones-site. Worthwile to see what´s submitted by one´s phone. I´ll keep an eye on this.

hopefully someone will correct me on this, but it is my understanding that whether or not you get a mobile site is not dependent on your browser, but rather some of the information that is given to the website when you contact it for content.
Here's to dreaming about hulu on my captivate while I work out... *swooon*
Just use skyfire it has the ability to make sites think that your using a desktop browser
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
I know but I like the standard browser and on 2.1 you could change it. Thx
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
On every other android phone you can enter about:debug in the browser & it will give you more settings like ua string where you have the option to choose between android, iphone & desktop but on the captivate this bricks the browser & you have to do a factory data reset to get the browser working agin or use an alternative from the market to go online agin! (SO DON'T TRY IT!!!) Someone should really try & fix this! I actually like the stock browser other than this. Now im using dolphin because of this but its not as fast as stock.

I have several websites for work that require Microsoft internet explorer. I have tried firefox beta, skyfire, stock browser, opera. None of these work. Is there any browsers that emulate MS IE?
Can you share the reason why those sites require m$ ie?
Activex content, asp.net?
Yes, you will need to provide further info..... As in how do you get the stock browser to open desktop versions of a web site which by default are opening in wap format?
Certainly for Windows update

Well that's easy! Enter about:useragent and select Desktop.
It may well be that a custom useragent will help the OP, if he uses an IE useragent string. Probably won't though!

Yes, sorry Dave I wasn't asking how to do this, just giving it as an example.
Good to note for others though ~ but bear in mind the about:useragent only works for that session as it does not save the information.

Is there not a option on the websites that say full website? usually at the bottom
Or
Use dolphin browser it has settings which make it go mobile desktop and something else
In the stock sense browser, should work in the android browser too, type about:debug, go into settings and change uastring to desktop
i use Dolphin HD
there you can set the user agent to "Desktop" and the normal version of all websites is used
Does dolphin support flash?

If I remember correctly (haven't used the stock browser in a while) nothing should happen. When you write that in the adress field you get more options in settings. So check out settings to see if you have stuff like "User Agent" there.
Menu>More>Settings>User Agent>Desktop. That is for the AOSP browser.

They say they only support flash on Froyo 2.2 or above. Mine is 2.2, flashes works great.
1. Go to browser
2. Type about:debug (I don't remember if you need to press enter, just try it if you want)
3. Nothing will happen visually and nothing really is supposed to happen.
4. Now, press menu
5. Select more
6. Scroll down to Advanced Settings
7. Select UA string
8. Select Desktop
if you can't see UA string, i don't know what else you can do
I have a Liquid A1 with Froyo 2.2 (LCR rom).
Unfortunately, I cannot view the full version of spome sites, even switching to "desktop user agent".
I tryed in Dolphin HD, in the default browser after the "debug" option, in Opera Mobile, Miren, etc...
For example, no way to go to the full view of this site:
http://www.primocanalesport.it/
(it's a local sport page: I would try the live streaming of their video news when I'm on the go)
I *always* finish to:
http://www.primocanalesport.it/mobile/
even manually writing the URL, with the user agent set on desktop mode.
Someone could help me??
Hello dear people
i just got my HTC sensation and im getting a really nasty problem:
my phone shows only internetpages in mobile view and even i chance settings not to show up mobile view, it does it though!!
has anybody the same Problem oder can anybody help me out with this issue?
Help is greatly appreciated!
While I am still using my Nexus One, as the release of the sim-free Sensation is almost a full month in the future - and therefore can't say if there is a settings toggle that would solve your problem:
Dolphin HD is a great alternative to the default browser, it allows for changing the user agent which will allow you to view all sites in default desktop-view: https://market.android.com/details?id=mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser&feature=search_result
Most mobile versions of popular websites really are rubbish, and many of them miss the basic functionality of efficiently switching to their sites desktop view.

Well thanks for this answer, tried the dolphin browser and surprisingly it works on this browser
Think i gonna use this browser in future so problem is basically solved.
Now i got a new problem: all wallpaper which i tried to use wont scroll on the home screen not even those wallpapers which are saved on the phone on standard... can anybody help me out? On my old desire, all wallpapers are scrolling!
some sites force mobile sites automatically no matter what. look on the page for a link to view full site. maybe that'll help?
On some sites there are links for the full site indeed but i dont want to always cklick these links first. On my old desire all pages are displayed in desktop view wenn i disable the mobile view in the browser settings. On my sensation it always shows all page in mobile view whatever i set the option to. But with dolphin browser it works and by the way im starting to like this browser more then the standard one
To my second problem, can anybody tell me why wallpapers wont scroll one the home menu on sensation?

From my experience even if you uncheck mobile in browser settings some sites still come up as mobile. My solutions to this is I type the full web address of the site I want to visit. As In www.wisn.com. Every since I started typing the full web address into the stock browser all sites come up as the full website. When I found this out I uninstalled dolphin. Hopes this helps.
Edit:
Besides the full web address typing, I found some decent info while searching threw Google and posted a thread in general. It might help or it might not. But its something you might want to check out and give it a shot.

This actually doesn't do anything unless you select the option for Manual UA string and enter the code manually, but either way, it reverts on reboot.
Please forgive me if this has already been posted, or if it's regarded as common knowledge. I couldn't find mention of this anywhere in the S4 forums, so I figured that it might not be widely known.
I was reading a post about a hidden debug menu in the stock browser for a different device, so I thought I would try it in the S4, and it works!
Open the browser.
In the url bar, type chrome://debug
It should say "This web page is not available". Ignore that message, but don't close the tab.
Then press menu and tap settings. You will see a new menu item: Debug.
In there, you will see a hidden menu of settings including, most interestingly, an option 'UAString' which lets you change the user agent ID which tells websites what browser you are using. In other words, you can set your browser to tell websites that you're using a desktop, or an iPhone, or a tablet, etc. Other browsers, like Dolphin or Boat Browser, have this option. You can use it to avoid getting mobile versions of websites by default, or to access certain features on websites only available to iPhone users.
Once again, I apologise if this is old news. Let me know if it is
Hope it's helpful.
