Video player for windows 7? - General Questions and Answers

what would be the best free video player to play recorded video from the G2 on windows 7? mostly mpeg-4 and 3gp because both play on windows media player but one of them only plays video and not the sound. i forget which format does that but would i need to install any additional codecs to make it work without downloading 3rd party app?? thank you.

Divx for Android???

Hi, I have been a winmo user, now I am thinking of getting a x10 (it comes with android 1.6) from rogers next week. I often watch familyguy at work from my phone (I own x1 and pls dont tell my boss ). I was wondering that if I buy a x10 will it be able play divx videos? Is it only samsung phones which can play videos? Do I have to buy the player?
Sorry if all Android phones can play divx and this sounds like a stupid question. All my friends either have Iphone or blackberry, so there was no way to know. I kind of saw somewhere that samsung phone has official divx codex or something like that, that is why I wanted to be sure before buying.
currently only samsung phones can play divx. its a feature samsung programs imto their android version. if you want general android to play divz then check divx.com for updates. also you can check out third party video players but afaik no divx android players exist.

do a search for Wuzhenhua it's not perfect but it's free.
im really suprised no one has created a decent media player for android yet

huh....... there is no divx player for Android
Well I will try yxflash then.
No there is no current "good" divx player, i tried yxflash it was jittery, and i tried Wuzhenhua with the same result as yxflash.
This was a major disappointment for me too (i just bought a Nexus one) and had been using Windows mobile to play my divx videos for a few years.
Im waiting on Coreplayer for android.

Doesn't look like it will be any time soon though.
So you probably will have to convert your videos that you want to watch to .mp4's until coreplayer or a better divx player comes out.

Unless they're writing the player and codec in C, it's ALWAYS going to be jittery. A java codec just isn't fast enough.
"yxflash" works great on my Acer Liquid S100.
It play everything: .AVI .DIVX . in the best quali.
I read a few weeks ago, probably on xda, that someone had just compiled xvid via the NDK. Of course a player still needs to be written/modified to make use of it, but at least this shows there's some hope.

[Q] dvd player?

Is there an app that can play a ripped dvd that is stored on the SGT?
That depends entirely on the codec you used for your ripped DVD. Have you transcoded the movie, is it a .vob, or have you kept it in and .iso?

I'd be using folders with the usual dvd structure and with .vob files or .iso. There's no problem playing transcoded files of course. Thanks for any info.
Have you tried the Market?
i understand your request, but i think you would be better off encoding the video to a recognized file. You can get DVD quality video at a fraction of the space leaving you more room for other stuff or more video.
But if you still want DVD folder support try DAROON PLAYER
it's free at the Android Market just search "DAROON"
hope it works for you i haven't tried it.

Best stream/video player?

What's the best video browser player to use for you? You know how when on browser and says "complete action using" and you choose a player depending if you have any installed..the default one on cm7 is not something I like. i want one that loads it and keeps that load so if I go to the beginning oof the video it wont need to reload.

The best media video player that i have come across so far is MOBOplayer can play pretty much any file format you throw at it, i was introduced to it by a friend and never looked back.
It should be on the market if you search for it.
I usually use coreplayer.

I use MX player. For me its the best one.
As far as media players go, MX Player is very good due to the various options available for decoders & the subtitle support.
If its a music player you're looking for & want to go for a free one, my choice is Winamp. I really like the interface & the whole directory of Shoutcast radio stations is available.
I did not see it mentioned but BS player lite is also very good, though lately I'm using mobo player, just for the interface.
rio
Media Player
I have a similar question. I need a player that supports bookmarking because I alternately listen to podcasts/audiobooks and music.
I need to be able to pause a podcast and come back to it at the same spot.
I have found some players that do this like bTunes and AstroPlayer but they are super buggy.
WinAmp works wonderfully well but doesn't support this one feature.
I'm looking at MX right now to see if it supports bookmarking but I don't see it.
Any ideas?
EDIT: I see now that MX is a video player. Interesting that it has specific installs for different ARM versions. Still looking for a media player...

problem with movie player

i got an HTC one x device recently and i tried to play a HD movie on it it was 720p BRRip x264 AAC. the movie played smoothly, but the was a problem every time i try to forward the movie to a certain time it skips to a completely different time i tried to install 3rd party programs, still didnt help. so any one know what's the problem?
P.S : my device it up to date and running on android 4.1.1
if u need more info just ask and ill reply as fast as i can. thanks
I personally use a third party app for movies and stuff due to more codec avail . There is a couple good players out there, I use mx player , I think there is vlc player for android, do a little searching around and you should be real happy with another player
Edit: try it on diff movies it may just be that video
