Just heard that verizon has officially passed up on carrying the galaxy s 2. What a **** move, it was going to be my next phone. I guess sammy didn't want to add 4g so they passed. At least that's what i read just now on neowin. God im ticked!
Fine with me. I will not touch another Samsung phone after the epic fail with the Galaxy 1 series (I had the ATT Captivate).

Yep, it's a good phone. Galaxy s1 series issues were mostly the file system's fault. They went with ext4 on the s2, not the crappy RFS hacked up crap they used to use.
Well hopefully the nexus prime is coming then.
OP needs to calm down though, he'll start scaring people

as long as i can get one and it looks like the gs2 ill be happy. but knowing verizon it will look totally different.

True, forgot about that. At least the driver for GPS is opensource in the S2, so potentially it could be fixed by the community if it's not a hardware issue itself.

Vzw probably passed on the sgs2 becuase they are getting the nexus prime made by Samsung. Why carry both phones, it doesn't make sense, if the prime is everything it is supposed to be no one will want the sgs2.

It sucks that Verizon decided against the GSII. I am ready to move on from the Thunderbolt. I don't think the Bionic will be quite on par, but who knows....
Oh well, hopefully they'll get the Nexus Prime.
My sgs2 actually saved me from being a rom addict lol. Since I got it I didn't feel the need of custom roms. Stock gs2 rom its perfectly fast... I have the phone for about 3 months and still running stock ...phone is sick.... I hope the t mobile or sprint version comes with the exynos CPU.....

Sorry whats wrong with the atrix? The screen is one thing. It's better for text, worse for solid colors, but seriously, the atrix, trash? No.
It's going to be a universal launch. Unlocked, all carriers, One price.
Koodo on tab, Virgin available for super tab, 3 yrs for all others, or straight up around 550.
It's pretty neat, but no superphone.
Did you try one? I actually picked one up from Bell on release day and used it for a week to see if I would make the switch. The result was a resounding no... it's just sluggish and choppy because of Motoblur. It's a typical case of good hardware, terrible software and execution. I could give you a detailed review of the shortcomings but that's not really the scope of this thread so... yay nexus =)

I'm considering to buy a long lasting phone and Nexus S seem to be good, do you think it will survive over 2 years without casing? I'm good at caring phone, my current Sony Ericsson G900 is already over 2 years old and still functioning perfectly (it looks worn out clearly) and most people who have my phone broke within a year.
Nexus S is going to be my first Android phone, only thing that I don't like that you can't enable or disable flash in camera mode, it will decide if it should flash or not by it own. The design seem awkward but I could handle it.
I'm also considering Incredible S but it doesn't have enough developers and it's still locked, so I guess I should go for Nexus S.
What do you think, will it survive more than 2 years?

It depends of what you talking about ? If hardware wise maybe and Evo 3D , htc sensation or SGSII but about updates most likely this one , any phone that is in the market and is a high end device most likely get ice cream(next big update for android) , nexus s most likely get it before anyone else(besides maybe nexus 3) google is trying to get manucfactures to make sure their phones they get updates within 18 months since launch but first they havent sign a form or paper that says they will second they haven't said for how long after google releases the update they need to release it as well so for all I know they could take 6 months( Evo is getting official gingerbread after 6 months, rolling out June 6, and the Evo was one of the best android phones in 2010 and a best carrier phone ) So I would stick with google if you want timely updates , that's one of the reason I got Me a nexus s
He is talking about the phone durability and yes, I would say it should last 2 years. It's made of plastic but it's not poor quality, it's much better then the galaxy S.
Since its a Google phone, you can't go wrong on picking it, it will always have the up-to-date software and will always have developers, even after 3 years (well, unless its about hardware limitation).
Its currently one of the best (if not the best) single core devices on the market, its definitely future proof.
And the camera does have the ability to turn the flash on or off, depending on your preferences.
The design is gorgeous btw, at least I think it is. The curve form is unique and when the display is turned off it looks completely black and clean, I think it looks very elegant.

For my part I hope Samsung do more both hardware, and software, testing before launching the SIII.
On Tuesday I'm going to send my S2 and Tab 10.1 back for repair.
The S2 have random locs/reboots and somewhat loose homebutton.
The TAB has watermarks/newton-rings.
Maybe I have been unlucky with my first Samsung devices but I have never had devices, 30-40 phones and pc's over the years, with faults like this after only 2 months use.

4.3" is big enough, add a case and you're carrying a novel in your pocket, 4.7" will be like carrying a box of cereal in your pocket. That said, if it's light, and slim, it might not be so bad.

I did not bring it up like I want to be cool or anything. I have had alot of thing's before anyone else:
Halo: ODST
Cr-48
A game I can't name at this time( They will come to get me if name it.)
And now the Iphone ok.
P.S Ok so not a lot, but you get the point. The Cr-48 was the coolest to me and I have not had the phone for long they are just geting them in. I did not think every one would be so mad, but the ICS thread should have spelled it out for me.
Now about the Iphone part, I was just saying I am unlikey going to buy the S3, but it should be cool and I can't wait to see it.

I've met some ignorant people but some of these posts are mind boggling. Like they manage to ignore the entire forum just to respond to a single post and give their opinion about att.. We only have about 6 or 8 leaks for new firmware on a pretty regular release schedule and an att announcement that we get GB in 2011 and several threads showing the infuse as a top seller but we get responses like these.

So, we are 99% sure that we will get it. LOL At least by early to mid January, right.
But seriously, I hear you Dani, I love my phone and can't understand why since the SG2 and Nexus and Atrix are out suddenly people call ours ****e? It is annoying. Our phone is top quality.
Besides, after reading the discussion in the leak threads about how the video issue came up with all of the modded kernels and most importantly the assumption that AT&T developers care about what we do here at the forums so much that they use us as guinea pigs(in a good way) they stopped releasing leaks until they were ready for the official, I just took those words for GOLD and decided we are waiting. Was I wrong?

1) Yes, AT&T Doesn't give a damn about firmware updates.
2) The Infuse sold extremely well.
3) I've seen very little advertising on the Skyrocket, yet continue to see ads for the Infuse (as recently as this past week on TV and yesterday in a target flyer.)
I've decided I can live with the ROMS in our forums here and AT&T can kiss my shiny metal arse.
Well, not sure if this is any indication, but my local Walmart is selling infuse cases, as well as screen protectors, while there is nothing on the SGSII or Skyrocket. Honestly I think Samsung is spewing out more expensive versions of practically the same phone, and the Infuse is the OG in this siuation. *thinks of carbon copying phones, and sees a conspiracy theory!*
Since I follow these forums as well as the Xperia Play forums, my hypothesis is:
-They were testing GB
-They LOLragequit and decided to make all newer android phones upgradeable to ICS
-they plan on releasing ICS in January or February.
I know these are some out-there speculations, but AT&T tends to send firmware updates in batches, and it has been confirmed by Sony Ericsson that they are planning on ICS for the Play by February 2012.
Just my 2 cents on the matter.
What I think is that as usual att is behind schedule. Maybe Samsung put us off while developing a whole new line. Either way I doubt we will see official this month. but the idea we will never see it is just ignoring the evidence. They wouldn't be working on it so aggressively if they didn't intend to release it. Also since att probably only wanted one update the wait is kinda a good thing since we'll get at least 2.3.6 and not 2.3.3 like Rogers got.
I honestly don't think we will see gb officially. Bit I have had gingerbread on my phone for a while now
E3D
I think the Infuse is a decent phone.
Already fast.
Dual core means didily squat...to me, it a phone. If you want fast, get a tablet or netbook or laptop.
4.5" is just right in my back pocket or breast pocket.
GB leak is prob near completion.
I'm expecting a OTA within a month or two.
If it doesn't, UCKK4 stock is fine for me as well.
Some of the tweaks added to CatyROM (acid, thunderbolt or adrenaline) or some we can add ourselves may be better than the release....unless samsung has been follow the threads and incorporate them into the new release.
my2cents...
my next phone should have a neuro connection I can jam into my brain. It'll be instant like my thoughts. It'll run off my stored fat. And I will be assimilated

Right after the iPhone, and it would still be if it weren't for the new models.
What people don't seem to get, is that AT&T is also deving for the phone, they encounter the same issues that our devs encounter. Bluetooth issues, HDMI output, the only difference is that they are "Official Updates" because they are carrier released.
The only good conclusion about no leaks, is that it got it's kinks worked out and its in the final stages of testing to make sure no kinks were left untreated.

This could be very true. remember the backflip, that thing got its update to 2.1 like 4 months after it was planned. and to be honest, AT&T never said by years end. it said is 2011 android line will expect to receive gingerbread.
I quote
Upgrade Details
Customers who purchased an Android smartphone from AT&T introduced in 2011 can expect to receive an update to Android 2.3. All of these devices are planned to be upgraded from Android 2.2 to Android 2.3, also referred to as Gingerbread. In addition, Samsung Captivate™ owners will be able to upgrade to Gingerbread.

Customers who purchased an Android in 2011 will EXPECT a update. no where on there does it says by years end.
Actually, it says "Can EXPECT". Frankly, I can expect to win the lottery and magic beans to sprout in my garden.
The possibilities are endless!
We will get it people...like dani said...they are not gonna waste time and resources to develop these leaks to just not update us....its not logical and frankly doesn't make sense....have patience people...

They spent all the time and money on developing the leaks just to keep the profit margin down. That way taxes are to high.
Damn, we have some really pessimistic people in these forums. All I wanted was a discussion.thread, not an AT&T sucks thread :/

This would be my last choice. The current ICS version is plagued with issues, I'd wait til Samsung takes it and fixes it's shortcomings.

Can you elaborate on these issues that it is "plagued" with? And please cite sources...

It isn't allowing the CPU to sleep, Verizon users are having serious signal issues, some users aren't getting multi-touch, also the fact that the gs2 is smoother thanks to Sammy's work on it. The only amazing thing ICS really brought was the ability for devs to build across phones and tablets more easily. GB was just as well off.

Actually it wasn't a signal issue with Verizon phones. The cpu sleep issue is fixed, and the multi touch doesn't affect everyone, and has also been fixed with the software update...but ok. I would hardly call that "plagued".
completely agree with u
it had some launch issues but now 99% has been fixed so go for galaxy nexus
do NOT get galaxy s 2 because number 3 is around the corner (March hopefully)
nokia lumia 800
what about htc sensation?
By software, Galaxy Nexus
By hardware, i THINK it's the Galaxy S II
I prefer the Xperia Play though,
And maybe you would want to wait on the Xperia S
(Yes. I'm a Sony loving guy )
Out of those 3 choices I'd say the Galaxy Nexus solely because its running stock Android and will get official Android updates first.
As for the issues, meh I dont care coz I dont even own the phone.

I'd have suggested the same, but I didn't want to be called a troll. The 900 looks even better though... Crazy stuff.

Actually it is not trolling. You can't argue that the hardware is not old technology. And my opinion on the software is in line with the majority of this forum. Trolling would be going into the WP7 forums and starting threads praising android.
