Does anyone know how to use their front facing camera in the Skype app ?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
The Android Skype app doesn't do video at all. There was an earlier leak of a Skype with Video app a few months ago, but I'm not sure anyone ever got that working on the G2x.
Well thank you very much for helping me. I'm new too android. This is my first android phone. I came from an iPhone.

Can I use a Hack from the HTC Thunderbolt Skype App?
Sent from my LG-P990 using Tapatalk
I did some research on this and found Tango to be a good substitute for skype. It sucks cause most friends/family have skype.. but at least I can use it to talk to my mom.
Ya tango wasn't really reliable. I don't like the quality of it

When port anybody the new Skype App to the LG2X?

Wasn't Skype aquired by Microsoft? I would expect to see video skype calls on WP7 before Android.

I think WP7 needs devices with front facing cameras first

Do you mean the new Skype 2.0?
http://androidandme.com/2011/06/new...-interface-and-two-way-video-calling-support/
I imagine it might just take a build.prop hack like the Netflix app?
EDIT: OK, so I just tried, and it looks like that isn't going to do it.

And CM7?
2.3.4 is with Video Chat API, isn´t it?
With the Stock or Modac it can´t run.
That is clear.

Hey xda well Skype just update and now has video chat on nexus s and a couple other phones and I was wondering if there's a way to make it think we have a nexus but I'm pretty sure it might be the same steps when people tried the Netflix app. Also I think I read its only gingerbread not sure anybody on cm7 might give it a try.? Thanks xda.

I am interested in getting this working as well. I use skype for business as well as to my brother in law in Alaska. It would be nice to use my phone instead of being tied to a less mobile laptop.
+1 so far there is no way to have a video call to a pc.. whether it is skype, gtalk, or msn
+1 comeon skype - i have dual camera's and wifi/fast3g on my g2x - i just want some video chatting to other skype folks.
When oovoo updates thier app, we'll be able to use that to video call computers.

Yahoo messenger video chat works only problem is it uses the wrong camera on the phone cant get the other camera to work
but everything else works great have to dowload the video plug in as well as the messenger from market
Well I just thought it would be cool to be able to video chat with Skype. When oovoo updates ill be using that to video chat.

You have to change multiple lines in the build.prop. Not just the line that shows your phone model. I used this method to get my MLB at-bat live to work on my Vibrant 4g.
My G2x isn't rooted yet, but if someone posts the build prob I can show you the lines to change.
Try:
ro.product.model=Nexus S
ro.product.manufacturer=Samsung
If that doesn't work post a build.prop file... I believe another line might need to be changed..

I saw this posted on the inc or thunderbolt forum. If you can edit the build prop or use another method to get movies working you can rent them but they won't play on a rooted device.

Here's an article a while back where they talked about this.

I saw it available for download on Android Central. I was so excited. I love the new look. The thing I like about it even more is the fact that it resolved an issue I had with the previous market version. Randomly, when installing/updating apps, the install would fail and say that there was insufficient storage (which was not the case - I'd have over 400 or 500 mb available). I would have to restart the download for it to go through. I updated a handful of apps in the new market without any hiccups .
For users that haven't done this already. It'd be a good idea to wipe cache (and I did dalvik cache also) after installing the new market.

The help section in the new market does state that once released, it will be pushed over a period of a couple of weeks, so if you haven't gotten it yet, you should be soon.

I use Netflix but want the option of the Google Video.
EDIT: I've enjoyed the new Market but in the screen shots I've seen it has the Video incorporated like Apps, Games & Books. The external Video is cool but isn't allowing rentals yet - at least for me. Anyone getting it to work?

I had, my phone rooted and I downloaded the new Android Market apk.. so I did not have to wait for the update but. I am glad I am rooted overall, great experience and battery last longer. I don't care much about the Google Videos tab as much now cause I have netflix and that does the justice for me.

You should be able to run NetFlix as long as you have a way to install non market apps. Sideload wonder or unknown sources enabled. Check the themes and apps sub forum. There are a couple of threads. You want version 1.3, I would post a link but I'm mobile atm.

I agree with most, I just got the new 2.3.3 update and it dident update to the new market and I'm keeping it that way. It looks horrible and you have to do way to much to find what u want. To much swiping sideways. I had wp7 and it isent even that much side scrolling lol
